Went here with my family when they were in town and thought all of the food was excellent. However, I am dropping a star because we didn't have a server for about 10 minutes after we sat down until my mom's boyfriend went to find someone. After that, the service was great with the exception of asking the server what grappa was and he asked if we wanted to try it but didn't realize he was going to charge us $20 for the whole glass. We just wanted to taste it and he could have made it clear he was going to charge us for it. Anyways, the food was excellent. The langostinos were amazing, melted in your mouth. The burrata with beets and prosciutto was very tasty. The highlight of the dinner was probably the branzino that they filleted at the table and also the halibut dish with risotto. The most disappointing dish was the calamari. The fish itself was good but the breading was bland and the sauces boring. Overall I would definitely come back. read more

We had a lovely baby shower in the Farmhouse room last weekend. The staff could not have been more helpful. Anthony, Reagan, and Suli were all professional, attentive and kind. The food was wonderful - everyone is still talking about the pesto pasta. The service (wine top offs, coffee, tea and cake at the table) was great. I especially appreciated the careful attention to our guests with allergies. The room was perfect. The staff was amazing. Food was delicious. I can't wait to do it again. read more

Unfortunately I have several problems with this place even though on the outside it appears beautiful and the service is generally good. First, the food is only okay and not worthy of the price. Second, the kitchen screwed up my order and gave me the wrong dish. The waitress to her credit promptly got the right dish out and comped us our app, but again, this is an unacceptable mistake. Finally. There were two separate parties eating indoors. I'm not sure if they were related to the owners or something but it appeared to be in violation of governor wolfs order. Can't confirm this point though because I'm not sure if there are carve outs for private indoor gatherings. And after a snarky reply from the manager/owner this rating has been updated. A solid, classy HAPPY HOUR experience! I had heard rumors that the happy hour (4:30-6:30) was very popular. I stopped by mid-week right around 4:30 and folks were just pulling into the giant lot. By 5:00 the place was jumping with happy folks and more coming in. I can imagine what it would be like on a Friday night. So why is everyone so happy? The 1st reason is the ATMOSPHERE. The bar(s) area is quite simply gorgeous. That's right, I said bars. There are two in close proximity. The second bar is a pizza bar. You can sip your drink and watch the chef create and cook your pie. I gotta say, the overall bar(s) area is classy and impressive. The 2nd reason is the happy hour PRICES. All the typical wine varieties were $4. Not only that the pour was quite heavy. There was a specialty martini on for $7 and some drafts for $3. Those are great deals almost anywhere and amazing deals in an atmosphere this nice. I was enjoying some very nice Merlot. The 3rd reason is the happy hour FOOD specials. I tried the Meatball Al Forno with fresh ricotta for $6. As you can see from my picture this was one big ball. The flavor was spot on. I wanted to try the Margherita Pizza at $10 but I was too stuffed from the meatball. Fortunately my neighbor saw me eyeing hers and offered me a slice. Remember, we watched it being made. It was very good and at $10 a great value. The overall Yelp reviews have not been particularly kind to Teca but my happy hour experience was 4 stars. read more

This restaurant was known as Alberto's at one point in time. Even back then when this was formerly known as Alberto's they still have that same reputation of spotty service with sub par Italian cuisine. Now we come up to speed with Teca , a new fresh look , supposedly better dishes with a brick oven style pizza being served. So with that being said let's see what's different, or better yet, we'll say the "improvements" are to this location , Teca's went through a lot of changes , a face lift with a new style of pizza bar to their actual bar. They added a section where it did improve in space , adding more seats so you wouldn't feel as crowded like in the past. Mind you I came here when it was Alberto's back in the day, where they really didn't have any kind of competition. A beautiful wine room can be seen as you enter showing off what they have in selections, so if you're a wine aficionado you'll be happy to know you're going to be satisfied. Try their house wine they make, its similar to a Sangiovese, which was the perfect compliment to my meal. Sangiovese is a red wine that pretty much is in the same family of a Chianti that will make any meal a perfect meal. See I am not only a fine craft type of guy, I also enjoy a great bottle or glass of wine. Their bar or 2 bars (which I'll mention in a minute) has improved, not so much in the craft scene , but their liquors seem satisfactory. Remember how I mentioned 2 bars, and if we were to jump up to the second paragraph I said "Pizza Bar" This is a huge improvement from prior, a beautiful pizza bar where you can watch them make the pizza as you enjoy your food. Service was a little sketchy, but not like before where you had a better shot of flagging someone down on the street before you'd see a waiter or waitress. I will say this Teca was busy, pretty much a full house , where they did try their best to try to accommodate. I will not fault them on this, they did hustle, now prior to Teca, if this was Alberto's I'd say good luck. Teca makes their own bread that comes out hot and fresh. The problem with their homemade bread is that it needed to be baked a little longer. Soft and mushy where the dough needed to be baked more. Nothing like chewing on a wad of semi baked dough to stretch out your jaw muscles. The crust , that nice hard crust was decent with a nice flavorful dipping oil, but again that dough killed the whole thing. Food option have changed to an improved menu, some more added options for you to peruse. I went with their Bistecca which was a 28 day dry aged NY.Strip. A great cut, nice and thick while having it prepped Pittsburgh style is the perfect way to enjoy any cut of meat. The carnivore in you would also greatly appreciate this with it being dressed with charred peppers and cipolline onions over top. A blanket of flavors hitting you mixed with a light touch of garlic and olive oil over top. I will say I did enjoy this, it did miss a few things. A side of vegetables would have been nice instead of ordering it and paying more, but other than that it was ok. A few things here and there needs to be improved in my opinion, but other than that this was an enjoyable meal. I do want to give their pizza a try, most likely if I'm in the area I'd probably stop back at their bar and give it a go. read more

To the business manager from Teca. You may not recognize my name from booking my daughter's shower, only because my wife booked it, but you had no problem cashing my check with my name on it. Regardless, it was a horrible experience and I wouldn't recommend Teca to anyone. Evasive business practices, did not feed all of my guests in a timely manner, and charged an extra 20% for what? The contract leads you to believe that it's going to the servers, but it wasn't for them. So I'd truly like to know what it actually is for. Because your price point is high enough for the mediocre food and facility. And the only reason why I'm giving you a one star is because it's required to do at least one. But you do not deserve even that. read more

We came here after looking at a house for sale in Broomall (we are in the process of buying it). Boy, are we glad we did. The service was fantastic, the place is clean and well decorated, and the food and drinks were delicious. We ordered the cured meats and burrata for appetizers, both excellent. There was so much meat, we weren't even hungry for our main dishes, until they came out. I got the pork cutlet which was perfect, others got fish. Everyone loved their food and we ate all of it. We met some friends here for dinner the other week. Overall, Teca wasn't bad but it didn't necessarily live up to my expectations either. Now, I will start by saying this place is beautifully done. We sat out on the patio deck, which I think that alone would draw people here. Teca gets a 5/5 for the atmosphere. It would be a nice place to host an event. I ordered the pomegranate cosmo to start, which was just okay. At least, they didn't skimp on the alcohol like some places do, but it just wasn't that great. I actually ended up trying my stepdad's strawberry margarita, which isn't a drink I would typically order from an italian place, but that was actually extremely good and I ended up ordering myself one of those. Drink prices were in the $8 to $10 range which is what I would expect to pay at a place like this. For apps,we ordered the brussels sprouts and the calamari. Both were really good. For my entree, I ordered the rigatoni. The pasta was good, it came with a meatball that was delicious and tasted homemade. In my opinion, the food here was average, with an above average price point. Our check was VERY high, like I would expect to spend at an upscale restaurant. The quality just was not good enough to command the higher prices. I would maybe try Teca again, but definitely not spend as much money, maybe just for happy hour. read more

Decided to check this place out to celebrate my friends birthday. Turns out I was here a few years ago when it was under a different name. There is plenty of parking and free valet in case you don't want to walk around the building to the lot. The decor is really nice and looks like a really cool happy hour place. The wine bottle room is a nice display as you walk into the restaurant. If you want to hang around for a while after dinner then Sunday night is the best. The crowd is low so you can sit and chat and take your time. Appetizers we had calamari which was really tasty. We also had Burrata (which I never heard of). My friends loved it but I am not a fan but I don't think I like that type of cheese. Friend had Agnolotti for dinner. It looked scrumptous and my friend enjoyed it. Other friend had rigatoni and meatball. It was one huge meatball which I was told was delicious. I had the chicken parmigna with penne. The portion was HUGE. I knew before I started I had to cut it in half before I started so I can save room for dessert. I enjoyed every bite (so did hubby since he had the leftovers). Dessert was Chocolate Mousse but it wasn't for me. My friend loved it. I then had Panacotta on the advice of the waitress and that was AMAZING!! Jennifer was our waitress and she was amazing. The other night we went to dinner with good friends of ours. After ordering, we waited over an hour until we received our entrees. The food was horrible, tasteless, and bland. Service was horrible. Our food was brought to the table without utensils for everyone to eat. We will certainly tell our family and friends not to go to Teca's for dinner. We had a completely rushed meal even arriving at 7:30pm on 2/17/24, and being immediately seated. Waiters kept asking if we were done and we were 5 minutes into our meal. In the middle of our meal a young waitress doing clean ups around us took our napkins and told us "I need to collect your napkins." I asked if we were getting napkins replaced and she said yes and brought us back paper cocktail napkins to finish our meal. we were completely finished dining at 9:15pm and were totally rushed the whole meal and seemed staff wanted to go home early...Not a good dining experience. Food was good however. A bit taken back by the service provided. The napkin collection was extremely odd while we were eating.... Oh well. We still tipped well but probably should not have, from the looks seemed managers were roaming the floor rushing the servers.... read more

Would definitely not recommend!! There were 4 of us. Two people ordered the lobster bisque, which was a special for the night. Both said it was bland and flavorless. My wife ordered another appetizer special which was a stew of scallops, clams, muscles and crab. This was actually very good, and the highlight of the meal. I ordered 2 grilled langoustine. They were pretty good, but at $18 per they should have been great. For entrees two of us ordered the carbonara special. It was truly inedible. The cook had left the sauce on the stove for too long and it was burnt, and the cream was clearly curdled. I guess the chefs do not taste their food before serving it at this restaurant. We complained to the manager, but to no avail. She took the food back uneaten, and still charged us for both entrees. The other two entrees: the seafood linguini and the angry crab pasta were OK, but nothing that you can not easily make at home. The waiter spilled my drink on me, water on my wife and one of the other guests. We asked for one of the dinners to be boxed up, however it was thrown out. In short, we are never going back, as there are much better Italian Restaurants in the area. Edit #1: In response to owner comments. As a little background I too am a small business owner, and have over 500 employees. We often make mistakes, so I have some experience in how to make things up to a customer. Regarding your "investigation" I have the following comments. 1. We did not eat 75% of the entrees. One guest only had 1 bite of hers and then was unable to eat any more secondary to the rancid taste. I ate about half of mine as I was starving and would eat anything. I would have returned my order sooner but our waiter was nowhere to be seen. So in truth only about 20% of the entrees in question were eaten. My wife ate all of hers as I also had half, as I said hers (the angry crab) was OK, but not great. The other entree was half eaten and a leftover box was requested. The food was taken AND WAS INDEED THROWN OUT!! This was by the waiters own admission!! He said a fresh entree would be created. This was indeed attempted, however, it was the wrong entree. After the wait and annoyance of the meal we decided just to leave and end the night as soon as possible, rather than bring a further issue to your team's attention. 2. Dessert and drink were briefly offered. However by this time, we had each had two drinks and were driving home, so we did not think it was appropriate to have anymore alcohol. As a rule we also do not eat dessert, so if this was indeed offered, it would likely have been refused. What I would like my team to have done in such a circumstance would be the following: a. Actually taste the food to confirm the problem. The sauce was indeed bad, all four people at the table immediately confirmed this. Do you really want to serve this sauce to other customers?? b. Once the problem was confirmed, apologize (this was never done) and at the very least not charge for the uneaten portion. c. Perhaps even give a gift card for a future meal, to show that your restaurant does not always perform so poorly. 3. Lastly your waitstaff needs much better training. Our main waiter did not know how to pour without dripping. He did this with each attempt. This is a learned skill, at which all your waitstaff should be adept. read more

I had an absolutely top-notch experience hosting a private event last week at Teca. Incredibly friendly and accommodating service from the private events director I worked with (not to mention patient, as I went back and forth quite a few times on my final head count!). The menus presented to me for making food selections had a great variety and the food itself was fantastic. The space was beautiful -- tons of sunlight and with easy access to the main bar. PSA: Went to Easter brunch here today having heard the food was very good. ALL OVERPRICED. 3 strips of bacon for $9. The quality of the bacon was comparable to a thin Target brand bacon. My omelette was supposed to have goat cheese in it, but it did not. Cheese yes. Goat cheese, no. The calamari was mid level quality but the serving was only truly enough for maybe 3 people and we had 5. One pro - the service was great. I will not be going back to Teca. read more

Walked in at 7:30 for our 7:30 reservation for 2 and they informed us they were running 20 minutes behind. They suggested we start at the bar. Turns out we weren't the only ones in this situation. There were no seats available at the bar and numerous people standing around the entrance. Since my wife has a condition where she can't be standing for too long, we ended up just sitting on the hard floor (there wasn't much seating near the entrance to prepare for situations like this). After 20 minutes on the floor and not much sign of progress from the less-than-friendly staff, we just threw in the towel and went to a different restaurant nearby. It was also weird to us that there was no self-parking available (lot was full, leaving only valet). We do valet plenty at restaurants in the city, but in this particular part of Newtown Square it seemed kind of out of place -- and yet another inconvenience. read more

I scheduled a reservation through one of the apps for a Friday afternoon to celebrate my birthday. We were not privy to the deck, as our table was relegated to the side of the parking lot, seated on top of small stones, which posed a challenge every time we tried to situate ourselves. I ordered a chicken dish and my friend ordered pasta. The meal and price per dish were in line with expectations, deserving 3/5 stars. Unfortunately, there was no grilled chicken offered as an option to include with my friend's dish, who happens to have a gluten allergy, so it was all carbohydrates and sauce. After getting a free round of drinks this week to rectify a poor service experience the week prior, my bartender had the audacity to tell me to remember to tip on the free drinks. I was a waitress for 12+ years. I know to tip. It's incredibly rude to tell someone to tip ESPECIALLY after they already had a poor experience in your restaurant. Service: Impeccable. Ambiance : Perfection, inside and out. Meal: Fabulous. For our visit on Thursday at lunchtime we opted to sit outside on the covered porch that overlooks the parking lot. Don't let the parking lot dissuade you from choosing this space because you're high up enough that you see the trees around you and not cars. The tables were amply spaced apart giving us plenty of room to stretch out, converse as old fiends do and enjoy our meal without having to listen to other's conversations. The table and seating are comfortable. But the real gem is inside where you have beautiful tables and two beautiful bars where I have gone for happy hours and enjoyed. Downstairs is the wine cellar with beautiful seating in a large room and a couple of more private rooms. It'd been a few years since I had seen the wine cellar dining area and a nice gentleman gladly gave us a tour of the main room as well as the small rooms within the wine cellar. The tour was so nice it reminded me that it's been a years since I had a birthday party and I'm now considering doing Tecca for my next birthday. See what great customer service gets you? I've eaten here before and enjoyed it but this is my first review. Today we both had salads - I had the shrimp arugula salad which had shaved fennel and four large meaty shrimp with a delicate creamy dressing they complemented the salad. - I have forgotten what my dining companion had but he did enjoy his salad equally as well as I did. He had a gin and tonic and I had an unsweetened iced tea and both of us enjoyed the beverages. Both of us felt the service was attentive and very pleasant. This past weekend I held a Baby shower in the wine cellar. From start to finish everything was amazing. Monica helped plan the shower and kept in contact with me through out the whole process, she was great. The food for the shower was so good, we ending up going with the Breakfast Brunch that included Bacon, eggs, potatoes, French toast, fresh fruit, pasta and salad. Everyone raved at the food and many guests said they would come back for dinner because of how great everything was. M son-in-law recently had a surprise graduation party for my daughter at Teca. Tegan, who is the event coordinator was wonderful and made sure all our request were met. I also would like to extend a great big thank you to Vienna, our sever, Stephanie, our bartender, and manage Sulli for taking such good care of us. Food was ok, nothing special. We ordered their version of a Niçoise salad with less ingredients and canned tuna and poached eggs with hollandaise sauce. Hollandaise sauce didn't taste fresh (definitely had been sitting in a walk-in for a few days) and was the dish was very salty. The portions are large but I would rather have a smaller portion with higher quality ingredients. The issue was how LOUD it was inside. We were in the back room, it was only half filled, and yet it was so LOUD we couldn't hear one another due to a few obnoxious parties of females including a party of 2 tables there for a baby shower. Places with really loud patrons annoy me but I can't believe this party next to us was allowed to keep ordering alcohol after already dropping 3 mimosa flute glasses on the floor. They were incredibly inebriated including one lady so drunk she staggered off chairs to the bathroom. They should have been cut off by the waitress/bartender even though it was 1:30 in the afternoon. Shouldn't have a headache and a dining room at over 90+ decibels when it is half-filled. Only imagine how loud it is when it is filled during the evening. Valet is 'complementary' and quick enough. It was annoying that the kid valeting supposedly didn't have any ones to make change for a tip. He wouldn't make a very good grifter but I chalk it to being 17-18. I might be back to try the pasta but not if we have to sit in the back room and there are better brunch options close by. read more

My wife and I ate here for the first time last night. I was very impressed. Every single person with whom we interacted was very friendly and professional from the hosts to the bus person to the wait staff. We even had a server who was not ours notice our drinks were low and offer to put in an order for another. We dined outside...weather was perfect. The food...while everything wasn't amazing, almost everything was. We had 2 appetizers (we usually only get one, but I wanted to try the grilled octopus. We also got the broccoli rabe. The octopus was cooked well, but lacked flavor. The beans and (I believe) spinach that accompanied it however were delicious. The broccoli rabe was exceptional. Perfectly cooked, a lovely nutty garlic flavor and the sausage and cannellini beans were a great addition to the dish. I let the server know I'd be stealing that recipe! For dinner we both ordered off the specials menu the wife ordered linguini with clams and I ordered the pork chop. She enjoyed her pasta very much. I absolutely LOVED the pork chop. It was a LOT larger than I expected (a nice surprise), but was pan fried to perfection. Crispy outside, juicy and tender inside. It was covered with a blush sauce (apologies as I can't look it up and can't recall if it was a vodka sauce, but I think so). And the side was a pasta Alfredo. Pasta was clearly fresh made and the sauce was excellent. For cocktails, the wife had a cucumber mule, which disappeared quickly (I tried it and it was delicious). I had a tequila and grapefruit drink. It was tasty, but I love tequila and would have preferred more in my drink. Her second drink was a sangria. She found it good, but just a bit too sweet (just a preference issue). I had a draft beer, which was decent. They have a pretty good selection. We got the tiramisu for dessert. I am a tiramisu snob, and would highly recommend trying this one if you are too. Overall we both enjoyed everything and would certainly recommend giving this place a try. They deserve the business.
