I do not recommend this credit union for your financial needs if you plan to keep your money somewhere for long periods of time, potentially permanently. My reasons are as follows... 1. Very difficult send money without going through some lengthy process or paying a fee. They don't have Zelle. 2. Employees/bankers can sometimes be rude for no reason. As if I am the there to inconvience them when I just need to handle some simple transactions. Does not make me feel welcome. 3. Interest rates are very low compared to other large institutions for instance. I banked with them for 7 years and I have had it with rude attitudes and difficult procedures. I decided to move to a large bank where I have had nothing but great experiences. Good luck everyone! read more

I have been a member of Technology Credit Union for over 20 years. I love the small, local feel of the bank. I visit a couple times a month and several bankers are very friendly. As an example Jennifer in the Sunnyvale branch knows me by name and always cheerfully greets me when I come in. We share family stories and she is great at answering any questions I may have regarding my accounts at Tech CU. All four of my sons are members too. Recently, the twins opened new debit card accounts with banker Lorenzo Aguayo. He was super patient and thoroughly explained all the information to each teenage son. They even received a $50 Amazon gift card as a result of opening the new account! WooHoo! They were thrilled. We will continue being members because it feels like a small local, business and their customer service is outstanding! read more

They make huge mistakes with your money. I had an auto loan through them, they overcharged me (didn't follow the signed paperwork) and I was consistently having to straighten them out. They made basic mistakes when doing regular banking also. If a grocery store messes up and gives you the wrong tomatoes or the wrong count, not a big deal. A bank that can't keep their accounts correct? That is a problem. Don't trust them with your money. I moved everything somewhere else and have had no problems there at all. read more

Recently I stopped at this branch(Cupertino/Deanza Blvd) to close my account. Mr. Brian Chunn helped me in that process. His service was commendable. He treated me like someone who is going to create an account with TechCU although it was "account closure" request. I had to close it as I had moved to different location where I have limited options. Otherwise I wouldn't have closed it. I had a very good experience with Brian. As an experienced business owner, I strongly recommend against using Tech CU for your business banking. They claim to be a business bank but it's a complete lie. Today I tried to deposit a cashier's check and the idiot behind the counter tried to act like she was doing me a favor by "only" holding the funds for two business days. "It could have been five". Today is Saturday and Wednesday is four calendar days away. Every real business bank would make these funds available next day since they are guaranteed. Aside from all their idiotic policies and clueless tellers, the worst thing about Tech CU is they will never ever make an exception to one of those stupid rules to help you solve a problem. Every bank I've ever worked with (even the major banks) will at least make an effort to help solve your problem but these morons will never even try. I have plenty of data points. I seriously regret moving from Heritage a couple years ago. I did it because I moved office locations. Moving banks was a huge mistake. read more

I came to this branch wanting to inquire about their high-yielding deposit accounts-- something I've been pushed to do for awhile now. As I stepped in, I was immediately greeted by one of the associates who was already with a customer. In under two minutes, I was already being helped by one of the bankers. I explained to him that I was very unfamiliar with the realm of financial institutions, and he concisely and simply explained the differences between their account types. He was extremely knowledgable in answering all of the different questions I had, and he assured me that I would be taken care of personally if I had opened up an account with them. I wasn't able to pull the trigger quite yet on opening up an account (still need to talk to the wife), but the banker gave me his business card anyway. I have been a member for years - first in Sunnyvale and now in the Cupertino branch on De Anza Blvd. So went to open my son's first credit card account, college bound! Specifically want to thank Lorenzo here - he was quick, professional and courteous. All the COVD protocols were followed - masking, social distancing and hand sanitizing. My son was a bit nervous but Lorenzo made it simple and explained everything to my son - it took a while but we appreciate his patience in explaining things to my son and answering all our questions. I have a credit with Cupertino's Technology Credit Union. The girl who gave us the credit had been very nice. Today I phoned CU to explain them that the Department of Motor Vehicles misspelled my husband's name in the Registration Form from the car we gave as insurance to pay our credit. The guy who answered me, David Marks, told me that I needed to pay $15.00 so they can make that change. I told him that I thought it was unfair because we had a prior Registration form and all our documents with CU with the right name written. Then he told me that it was a mistake of the dealership. I was trying to ask him how it can be a mistake of our dealership if the mistake appeared after we gave our car in warranty and not when we bought it. I was not even arguing, I was cool all the time but I was very confused with this information David Marks was giving to me. Then he hanged out the phone to me! Please, if you dial 408-467-2387, DO NOT CHOOSE EXTENSION 4!!! That guy is rude!!! That is the reason I am giving 1 poor rating. Everybody else are nice people. read more

My family had previous experience using Tech CU so they recommended I go there first. I was very fortunate to be helped by Vanya who guided me all the way through this process, from getting a loan pre-approval to finalizing the rate and helping set up my online account following the transaction. OMG, where to start? Tech CU is by far my favorite bank of all time, specifically the Cupertino branch. I have been banking with them for at least 6 years now and I will never bank anywhere else again! They always provide superior customer service, in the branch and on the phone. The more I come in, the more they get to know me and now we are on a first name basis. The most recent service I received was dealing with identity theft. I received a phone call for suspicious activity within a few hours of the false purchases. Immediately they were able to stop the transaction and block my card. David Mok was the person I went to and he did everything in his power to stop the theft! My card was blocked immediately and he was able to get a brand new card for me right there on the spot. He encouraged me to check my online banking more frequently and to be aware of my account as often as I can. Unfortunately for me, I found out the next day that one of the false transactions slipped through. I called him right away and he told me to come in asap to file for a fraudulent charge. I came in first thing in the morning to work it out. David was out of the office but I was assisted by both Jamie and Brian with the same friendliness and care as I have always received. The service was amazing and quick. Jamie looked up my account and informed me of the charges that went through. Brian took over and walked me through the process to file a dispute and affidavit. It is understandable that identity theft cannot be stopped but Brian gave me some tips on how to keep updated on my account and aware of my spending. The Cupertino branch is by far the best team I have ever dealt with. They always explain things thoroughly and make sure I understand what is going on. They are always friendly and outgoing and really care about their customers. Keep it up Cupertino! You've got a life long customer! read more

So far, this has been my favourite banking experience in south bay. If you go to this location, get David M. He is fantastic. While it took some time to get us all set up (we were doing a loan on top of setting up accounts), he took care of all the details and got everything done the right way the first time. This is the type of service I expect to get from a bank but rarely do. Since setting up our banking, I needed some help on billpay and that sort of thing, and I gave David a call expecting to hear from him in a couple days. I got a call within the hour answering all my questions. You want exceptional service, this is the place! Great job David - keep it up! read more

I'm not keen on reviews but a teller had asked me to write one a while back. I was remiss in my timing and now i find out shes no longer with this company. Would have been 5 stars for her. 3 now because the atmosphere has changed with the Deanza and Bascom locations. This is my bank. I used to love it. Now i get shouted at by many voices when entering and all my favorite tellers are gone like a revolving door. New tellers are friendly but i will miss the familiar faces. Bascom is closest to me. Was called in to office by new person. Went over issue just to be escorted out to another bank employee. Was it being nosey or dont want to help me. Strange interaction. My recommendation to business owners is to stay away! Stay with a bank and pay the fees - it will be less painful. Besides the platform being less than intuitive and not able to connect to most platforms (not even QuickBooks) via a sign-in (apparently an issue for many CU's) they also like to hold deposits for 2 days before funds are available. Never an issue with Wells Fargo or BofA. Delay after delay, technical challenge after another. Don't waste your time. The only bright spot is their customer service, in branch folks and tech support are very polite and helpful - too bad they are stuck with a sub par product and offering than other banking platforms available in market. read more

I have been a member forbyears and so was my son, starting with a student account. I always go to the De Anza branch and they are open during COVID. Service is always quick and convenient. I want to specifically thank Lorenzo here - my wife and i went in on a Saturday to open up new accounts and Lorenzo was very patient and knowledgeable in explaining things and answering our questions, and helped us to set things up to serve our purpose while simplifying on-going maintenance. We've been Tech CU customers since the 70's for our personal account and then later for our business account. They are easier to deal with and more responsive than a bank and their employees are very versed in all banking areas. The online banking experience is very secure and straightforward. I think what they are best at is customer service. All of the employees are polite, knowledgeable and ready to help with whatever you need without a wait. read more

Long story short: I opened an account with $100, left it inactive for several years and got charged $5 "inactive account" fees for 8 months, bringing me down to $60. Once I caught wind, I called them directly and the best they could offer was to reverse $10. I gave them plenty of opportunities to make things right and to continue the relationship but they held firm and insisted that $10 was already an exception and a generous offer. Really? Is this how customer service works at a credit union? I'm happy to take my business elsewhere. Enjoy your $30, TechCU Cupertino. We're done. read more

I've been with them for 25 years and I'm unhappy to say they have turned into a bank. I have tens of thousands of dollars in checking and savings accounts right now and $90K in a HELOC account. Never a problem with any of those accounts, but because my credit report showed a few late payments over a period of 7 years, they declined my auto loan. When I indicated that I would leave the credit union, they could not care less. The worse part about this is that it hurts them and it hurts me - what a lousy deal. read more

My husband and I moved to the Bay Area and was immediately recommended to open an account with TechCU since my husbands company was also a member. We've been very pleased with the service we've received so far. When we set up the new account and then later applied for our auto loan, it was all very seamless. Diana was so great in walking through all the benefits and various accounts with us. When we got our car loan through TechCU, Diana was great with making sure we were comfortable with our loan amount being first time car owners and when there was some paperwork hiccup caused by the dealership, she was quick to resolve it for us. We've been back to the branch to get a money order and notary and both times Diana has been so helpful. It's so easy to book an appointment online to then just walk right in and not have to wait. When we do book online, we get a follow up phone call from the branch reassuring us they received our appointment request. No bank is perfect, but so far we've liked the personalized attention and when we walk in, people know us there. It makes you feel taken care of. read more
