The place was busy as expected and we were seated without having to wait too long. Our server was amazing and made great recommendations. We ordered the Hot Chocolate, Avocado Toast, Salmon Toast, Garden Omelet, and Espresso Milkshake. We loved everything we ordered. That espresso milkshake was delicious. So frothy and creamy. Must try. Both the salmon and avocado toast was fresh and tasted amazing. The garden omelet was perfectly cooked. We missed out on the famous pop tarts. Need to go back to try that next time. This was the worse experience I have had in a restaurant in years. It kind of had a racist vibe. The server was less than mediocre as she kept apologizing for the way I was being treated. My food was ok,the server wasn't attentive to my needs as she was to the other people around me. She didn't offer me any extra syrup for a huge stack of pancakes. When I tried to order another drink she acted so ignorant, cutting me off not listening to what I was saying again she said how sorry she was.. like I said it was awful the worst part I expected more.. We came here on Valentines Day, arrived a bit early for the reservation and tried to snag a happy hour drink prior to our 6:45 reservation. The bartender Sophie didn't greet us, offer any water while we wait or even extend a quick "I'll be right with you all" to acknowledge we were there. Although she did check on the rest of the patrons at the bar asking if they wanted refills and attending to them. After waiting for about 5-6 min, I Finally I asked if we can order a drink, or maybe sit at the other bar across us. Sophie then asked if we wanted to order a drink (of course 1 minute after happy hour ended, just our luck) but it was fine. Drinks were ok, she just had poor customer service and looked irritated to even take our order. Left a bad first impression. We didn't get the other male bartender's name but he came out, greeted us and had great customer service. They asked for payment quicker than greeting us or even having the drinks ready yet. Haha. Thankfully we got called to our table and our server Adan took great care of us, we were in and out of there less than 50 minutes. He was attentive, kind and quick. There was also a female manager that walked around making sure everyone was doing okay. I think overall it was a great time after we got seated. Went to have dinner after watching a movie Allen was our server. For the most part, he was honestly sweet and had a lovely smile. I try not to be negative in reviews; I just like honesty. We ordered the jalapeño poppers for the table, and those were pretty delicious. We enjoyed the twist of them being wontons. I ordered the chicken piccata for my entrée, along with a pineapple ginger mimosa. The mimosa lacked the pineapple flavor profile but was okay to drink. The chicken piccata wasn't bad, but it wasn't my favorite. I'm very fond of this dish and was searching for the lemon taste you usually get with it, but it lacked that. It wasn't horrible, but it just wasn't for me. My husband decided on a simple appetizer as his meal: loaded tater tots. He wasn't fond of them much except for the tots themselves. The bacon was overcooked. The sour cream used tasted off, he told me. Our daughter had French toast as her meal. She enjoyed it for the most part except for a slight sogginess in the center. Our son had the BLT wrap. He thoroughly enjoyed it and how fresh and not overcooked the fries were. My daughter and I wanted to try the cherry blossom tres leches. Let's just say that it was severely lacking in the tres leches department. I couldn't resist making a joke that it was drier than my husband's jokes. But the topping was so good. I'm just so disappointed at how dry it was, considering it's supposed to be a moist milk cake. I will go with the cons... Here are some things I am disappointed in besides my previous comments on the food: 1) Our server gave us a cup of water that had a gelatinous, cream-type substance on the cup, maybe syrup. He did mend this when we asked for another water 2) I asked for a spoon to use with my pasta. When our server brought it to me, he placed it on the table instead of handing it to me. I did mention this to him, and he did apologize, but it's something I noted mentally. 3) When I ordered my cappuccino, while I understood not everyone wants sugar, when I asked for sugar, the suggestion should have been to offer a spoon for me to stir it. I was not given this option and had to opt for a butter knife that was already provided. It is a nice and family-friendly restaurant. I did like the ambiance of the place and how they displayed their homemade Pop-Tart-style pastries. I did have the pleasure of speaking to the manager, and he did remove the cake , give us a discount, and give us free tarts. I will note that I was not seeking any type of free or discounted food; I just wanted to give an honest review and share my experience. First and last visit, food is average services is worse. My order to go was incorrect had to return to get the second entree ordered. When I mentioned, I was told by one server, same that took the order, "oh I didn't pack it, so I don't know". So my question regardless of who packed the order, could they READ the order ticket? or better yet could they read at all? Need to train your staff, customer service is well below industry standards. We had reservation for 5 and they decided to tuck us in a 4 table top booth instead of giving us a table with an two seater extension. We are all on the normal /skinny side so it was very clear when we walked up we were going to fit. They eventually realized how silly it was and brought in a side table for us. Our waiter started out strong with friendly greetings, but after he took our order we didn't see him for the rest of the night until we waived him down to get our check. The orders were all wrong and we had to waive down someone else who was bringing out our food. Grilled chicken sandwich was dry as cardboard and they forgot to bring the jam that went with one of our breakfast meals. Last-minute decision to stop here for lunch while visiting my sister. I ordered the Reuben sandwich but they were out. I ended up ordering the steak and cheese sandwich. It was absolutely delicious. Soft sesame seed bun and ribeye steak had just enough spice to it. I was so hungry that I didn't get a picture, but it was well worth The trip. As an added bonus, we ordered a brown sugar, homemade pop, tart. I adore pop tarts, and this one did not disappoint. Flaky crust and yummy filling. Ted's Bulletin is a great casual place to get together with friends.  They have a large menu with a lot of recognizable but tasty offerings.  One of my favorites is the grilled cheese with tomato soup.   I don't know how they make their soup but it is especially good.  This last time, I went all out and ordered the grilled cheese that came with cheese, short rib and mac n cheese all stuffed inside!  I have to admit that I chickened out at the last minute and asked mor the mac n cheese on the side   It was a great sandwich alone or dipped in the soup.  As a table, we ordered the deviled eggs which everyone enjoyed.  It was a nice enough day to be able to sit outside but a bit of a fall chill encouraged me to order their spiked apple cider which was also very good.  It was a lot of fun to sit by the green at Mosaic and people watch while we ate. read more

The bartender is just a person occupying the bar and the short rib pot roast was just a small block of overcooked short rib sitting on top of 3 baby carrots., luke warm at best mashed potatoes and cold sauce. The restaurant was not busy on a Friday night which was a sign. I was in the area visiting and have been a few restaurants in the town mall area. This one is definitely the worst. No greeting from the moment I walked in. The bartender was too busy chatting away with a few of his friends and didn't even bother asking me about the meal. Ted's Bulletin is a restaurant in the Reston Town Center area, and my buddy picked it out. They have free parking in the neighboring garage on Sundays, which is a reason we went. The food seemed like slightly above average diner food. It seems that the emphasis is on breakfasts. The salad I ordered was just average, and I could tell the added salmon had been previously frozen. The atmosphere was professionally decorated, and they had cool, vintage style bathrooms simulating lawyer's offices. But overall, it felt a little commercialized. Very poor service! Understanding that Sunday breakfast can be busy and overwhelming at times for the waitstaff, still, you would expect to be treated decently. One of the ladies/hosts up front was rude and our waiter was not only short with us, but was quick-tempered, unfriendly, and made us feel rushed and uncomfortable being there. Whomever is hiring and managing this place needs to either be replaced or needs to seriously teach/hire staff to be pleasant, friendly and not have an attitude. I should add, we also came with such a positive attitude and treated whomever with kindness, so seeing that mistreated is disappointing. I have seen a sharp decline in customer service here. The food has also taken a mild hit, too, and the place has become a bit dirty (crumbs/food on the floor, etc), but honestly, that aside the poor service dominates the rest. Action needs to be taken such as management change or else I see this place loosing its customers to IHOP or La Madeline. read more

I work in the RTC and I live in Reston, so I have eaten at Ted's many times. I've always enjoyed the food and have always received good service. Yesterday, I was home sick, so I placed a delivery order for the grilled cheese, tomato soup. and a tart. I waited 25 minutes for the order. I asked the delivery person to meet me at the door and she didn't . I'm sick, I'm hungry and, now I'm not happy. I called the Ted's and was placed on hold for a long time. Finally, the manager (Tara?) answered. She made it right, and apologized for what happened. She had someone bring me the correct order and also gave me an extra tart. Came here for Happy Hour drinks and snacks after some shopping. All cocktails are $8 from 3-5 pm. I had a Peach Pit cocktail; vodka, peach nectar, ginger beer and ???, forgetting the rest, but it was very good!! We had the Maryland Crab appetizer, which was heated crab with cheese and pita points. Good-, but would've preferred it more it chunks or looser-it was too puréed for my taste. I brought the pop tarts home for my husband and I and they were amazing! Not the cardboard tarts from our youth, but imagine a yummy shortbread like crust, with jammy strawberry filling with frosting and sprinkles. Soo good! We also tried the S'mores and the cherry!! Ted's Bulletin is Gatsby meets modern adult milkshake bar! The vibes are for real on point. It feels like you've walked straight into a cleaned up and brighter lit speak easy. We had kind of a rough start to our visit here, and my review was starting to dive like a roller coaster going down the highest point. My friend and I sat after we ordered for almost an hour, watching all those around us get their food and leave, while we had an empty table except for drinks. Sometimes things get backed up, or the restaurant is busy so it's not fast. But it wasn't busy- we were before the rush. And it was two of us. Third, our waiter did not come and acknowledge us at all during this time so we had no idea what the issue was. Eventually we talked to a worker, and our order had somehow been deleted. They were very apologetic and even didn't charge us for the milkshake we got. That helped some. But the complete turn around of the experience was when we walked to the front where the homemade pop tarts are. We couldn't pass those babies by and were ready to buy a few. But they gave them to us completely free of charge for the issue with our order! That really made our day and we were just so happy and impressed with the customer service. Plus all the food we tried was fantastic. My breakfast burrito was just phenomenal and the perfect portion, and the pop tarts are home made- need I say more? read more

Man, I have such fond memories of Ted's Bulletin when I worked on Capitol Hill, so was surprised by how lackluster this Reston location was. Everything just seemed spotty during our brunch visit, which was a bummer because I know how good Ted's Bulletin can be! Located in Reston Town Center, we came here soon after it opened and the place was packed for brunch on a Saturday. Fortunately, for the three of us, we didn't have to wait long for a table. But note that it gets busy for the brunch hour. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, which came with hash browns and eggs, and I also had to get one of their housemade pop tarts that Ted's is known for. The biscuits were sadly overbaked, so the bottom layer of the biscuit was not soft at all, since it was on the baking sheet too long and didn't get air underneath. I love when my biscuits are super soft and fluffy, and this was far from the case here. Everything else was fine, but was just bummed about the main star of this entrée. Also, the s'mores pop tart that I ordered on the side was sadly super dry. I was not expecting the chocolate layer inside to be so dry and chalky. I used to get the pop tarts all the time at its Capitol Hill location, so it's unfortunate that I cannot recommend getting a s'mores pop tart from here. Because the restaurant was so busy, service was slow. I had ordered a s'mores milkshake that never came, but I ended up not caring enough to follow up. Our server was managing multiple tables, and he seemed a little frazzled. I totally get that, so not a big deal. Just note that if you are in a hurry here, Ted's on a Saturday morning may not be your jam. With other restaurants at Reston Town Center, I can't say I'd come back to Ted's Bulletin for brunch again. I walked in around brunch time and had to seat myself and wasn't taken care of for a good 5 minutes. When I did receive a menu, I was taken care of quickly and gotten my good quickly. The seasonal fruit was fresh, had good variety and was a satisfying amount. For my breakfast item, I ordered the Salmon Eggs Benedict over 2 hash browns and it was incredible. I'd order this again and would also recommend it to a friend. The prices are fair for the food and its quality, which uses cage-free eggs.The ambiance was nice and reminiscent of chic, modern diner with wooded seating all round, even the bar. We came here at the request of my daughter visiting from Seattle, who had frequented Ted Bulletin when she worked at the Hill a few years ago. But she was used to the Ted Bulletin in DC. She likes everything Americana when in town so why not. What a big disappointment because the food did not live up to the hype. It was not good at all. Place was busy because of its location, high end area of Nova and there was a convention at nearby hotel in the same location. I've dined in at the one in DC and had better food. The only redeeming quality was the fresh pop tarts from this location, and you can get that to go at the front of the store. Customer service was subpar and our server harried and simply ignored my request then perhaps in his realization tried to back pedal when it was paying time. He was not attentive, I practically got up and asked the front desk for stuff that ordinarily should have come with our food. Case in point, I asked for the salsa sauce for my burito but it was delivered after I had my last bite so I did not enjoy that pricey with lacking in flavor and with barely small piece of meat- I mean it was all wrapper(tortilla) ugh it was that awful and shameful. Me and my husband went today for brunch ar Reston location. I ordered Norway Benedict (smoked salmon) it comes with salad. Unfortunately our anniversary brunch did nit go well. Brunch is busy for obvious reasons, they have a nice selection, staff is amazing, location is prime, and they are able to seat you with big groups just call ahead. They are busy for brunch so make your plans early, they also don't take reservations so first come first served. The only thing I didn't like is that if you bring a cake they won't light the candles for you and I don't know why.... We didn't had a lighter on us either so it was kinda a bummer. The food is on the lower end of acceptable to moderately disappointing. While I had initially wanted to add that the price point compounds the lack of satisfaction, I suppose it is not too terrible, given the area and ingredient quality. When it comes to execution for the Norway Benedict, I had initially wanted to give between a 1 to 2 star rating. While I have long been a fan of smoked salmon, particularly on benedict, I could not find any positive attributions that I, in good conscience, may liken to their rendition. The egg is neither plump nor fluffy; the whole item lacks flow, taste, and gravitas; the salmon is warm; the muffin is hard and neither crispy nor fluffy; elements to elevate it are missing; there are no vegetable elements which would greatly help, e.g. onions, olives, tomatoes; it is quite perplexing that slightly overcooked hash browns should be inserted underneath the salmon; and the hollandaise is basic. Rather than being unnecessary in my particularity, my discernment is due to how much passion and love I have for this dish; which is why it makes me particularly sad to have encountered such. The nicoise salad is not fresh nor garnished either; and lacks flavor elements such as lemon zest that would greatly elevate it. Conversely, I decided to bump up my rating to an upper 2 on account of a decent espresso milkshake and courteous, quick service. On the other hand, I was between 4.5 to 5 minutes late in grabbing my order, and my milkshake had mostly melted; lacking texture, thickness, and frost emblematic a milkshake. I would advise a fridge for to-go orders; though perhaps it is simply made that way. Points, however, for their punctuality. If you have the inkind app, there is a significant boost in value. My concluding thoughts are that I would not be opposed to coming here, outright, were I invited by other people to do so. On my own accord, however, I do not think I will be making this selection again for quite some time. read more

After a long day of traveling from west coast to east coast, we found this very cool upscale diner in the Reston Town Center. They serve breakfast all day which was a draw for me. And a lot of old classics that have been updated. We shared some Mac and cheese as an appetizer. The pasta was cooked nicely and it was pretty cheesy. I would have like a little more cheese, if I'm honest. Then I had crab and corn soup. Hubby had Short Rib stroganoff. My soup was hot and spicy. It hit the spot after a day of airport food. My hubs short rib was melt in your mouth tender. He would have liked more mushrooms though. Service was good. We sat outside but they were still attentive. Lots to explore there because I saw several things I would try. All in all, it was very good. I would say 4.5 stars if I could but will go with a 5. read more

I went to brunch on a Sunday around 1pm at Ted's Bulletin in the Reston Town Center. I've been to Ted Bulletin some time ago and was pleased. I had the pancakes topped with strawberries and whipped cream with bacon and scrambled eggs. It was really good. Our server - Samir was awesome. Attentive and even took a group photo for us. My only complaint was that the floors were extremely slippery. Not sure if it was because it rained earlier or it was just their floors.
