I ordered the peanut butter pie milkshake. It doesn't look like much from the picture but holy moly it was amazing!!! It literally tasted like the blended up a peanut butter pie and put it into a cup. There were bits of chocolate cookie crust with peanut butter flavor. I kept eating it even after I was full because it was so good. As you can see from the picture the portion size is quite large and will run you $7 but could easily be shared between two people. My only complaint is that they are doing drive thru only orders and it gets backed up and can take awhile for them to bring out the order. I'd been wanting to check out TeeJay's Sweet Tooth for quite a while, but I live on the opposite side of town and their hours make it a little bit difficult for me to make it a destination spot. However, today was a fairly decent and quiet Sunday before the holiday weekend and I decided to go grab a carry-out meal and follow it up with dessert from TeeJay's. By now, it's no secret that TeeJay's specializes in their Donut/Ice Cream sandwich and also a concoction called a Fruity Pebble Treat. I'm admittedly not the most adventurous soul when it comes to my dietary life, so on this first visit I opted for a plain ole' chocolate shake. It comes in one size at $6.50, admittedly a bit higher than I'd go for a chocolate shake but this is a smaller, indie business and I'd heard enough good things that I figured I'd just consider it a splurge for the week. As a matter of note, they definitely do have some options for the more budget-minded folks. Ice cream comes as a kiddie size, single, or double. They offer up a rotation of flavors that is posted on their window. TeeJay's is one of the rare local businesses to have a drive-thru, though be aware it's a rather informal one. I actually drove through once because I wasn't quite clear on how it worked and I hadn't seen the menu. Fortunately, or unfortunately for the business, traffic was a bit light and I was able to get back in line fairly quickly. There's no place to order prior to arriving at the drive-thru window - you go up to the window and place your order. Right now, only the drive-thru is open. They have what looks like a decent interior, but in this pandemic world they're playing it safe. I can definitely dig that. They also prefer that you pay by credit or debit card and have an arrangement so you can pay "contactless." If you pay by cash, they ask that you have exact change. The young man who was working was friendly and helpful. He clearly knew their routine. "Contactless" payment truly was and that was kind of nice. I'm not sure what size of chocolate shake I received, but it was thick and very well made. It is served in a clear cup and it actually looks appealing. I was definitely happy with it and would easily order it again. Next time, and there will be a next time, I'll likely try either the ice cream or perhaps a sundae. They also have hand-packed pints and quarts, though they recommend ordering ahead for them. They also have vegan and gluten-free options. The owners, Taylor and Jerome, are licensed dental hygienists. And yes, TeeJay's is truly local. The building itself does have a curb cut for when they open back up their indoor seating. I used to live on this side of town and this building used to house a wonderful bookstore called Chapters. I have many fond memories of this particular corner. I don't always review based upon a drive-thru experience, but the truth is it's important to support local and considering TeeJay's has a drive-thru it's a great way to get your ice cream fix and support local. Move over chocolate, there's something sweeter in town. I am usually all about the chocolate-ice cream, brownie sundaes, syrups, any way I can get it, it's always my go-to. This place is INCREDIBLE and I can see now why the line is always around the corner! We lucked out and went one slightly chilly fall day so we miraculously were the second car in line. It was a bit difficult to figure out where to go at first since it seemed like the car in front of us also didn't know. You pull up to the right side of the building where it doesn't really look like there is a driveway, and they have a taped, hand-written menu of their items on the side of the front window, and then if you keep pulling forward there is a tiny drive-through window. My husband and I felt a bit rushed since we couldn't really see the menu and all the options, and there was an insane line of cars forming behind us, so we ordered a donut ice cream sandwich (that I saw on here before we went), and a milkshake. We both decided on the homemade cookie butter as our ice cream choice. Once you order and pay at the window, you drive around to the front and park at the cones in front of the front windows of the store and they bring out your order. My absolute favorite part when we pulled up was that the girl working the counter noticed I had my dogs with me, and asked if I wanted pup cups! I'd seen stuff like that on social media and stuff (I think it's starbucks?) but had never got them before anywhere so I loved it when she brought me two little ice cream cups with Milkbones in them! I'm also pretty sure that's way more than starbucks does, and my dogs are the loves of my life so that was absolutely the best part and it was so sweet! As for the ice cream, their homemade cookie butter blew Trader Joe's cookie butter ice cream out of the water! It was thick and rich and full of the crumbly cookies and it worked so well inside of the warm donut! It also didn't melt as fast as I thought it would, which was nice and allowed me to eat it. Love Love Love This relatively new place is going to take all of my money. I first heard of TeeJay's through a friend which led me to check out their Instagram page. I was hooked from their beautiful presentation and couldn't wait until they opened. Fast forward, I decided to go with friends one Sunday evening and was not disappointed. They had many different (creative might I add) flavors to try and were extremely generous on the numerous samples. I got a sample of the Apple Pie, Salted Carmel, Lemon Oreo, Graham Cracker, Twinkie... ok let's just say all of them for the sake of me typing. They were all delicious and I decided to go with my favorite Strawberry Cheesecake. I got a scoop of that with a scoop of Salted Carmel on top with Carmel drizzle. Man it was so good. You can really just make your own creations there. Fast forward to two days later, I came back. You just can't be in that area anymore without stopping by. Trust me. This time I decided that I wanted to go with a milkshake and since you can create your own, I went with the same concoction that I had a couple days prior in scoop form. They are handmade right in front of you and it was so worth the wait!!! The cheesecake chunks broken down in the milkshake along with that salted carmel was literally perfection. Like I want to try some other flavors but then I don't. LOL In between my oooh's and ahh's I did get the chance to talk with the owners and found out they both are dental hygienists by day. Sooo... we just found out about this place. Strange hours (opens at 5 most days) drive thru only I was a bit skeptical... but when we showed up, there was a line at 430 so, we hung out. I live about 40mins away but we have made the trip a few times already and I've told half a dozen people. Amazing flavors, super creative treats and totally worth the wait! Come hungry because the servings are plenty. I've had the strawberry and banana cream both amazing and my last trip I had Elvis which was solid. I believe it is strawberry, peanutbutter and banana. A new favorite for sweets that I can go to on the west side. After hearing about this place almost daily from friends, I had to check this place out. I came on a Sunday night and was greeted by the two behind the counter - who were very friendly and helpful helping decide what to get. One suggested the donut with ice cream, but I had my mind set on the milkshakes I heard so much about. After trying various ice cream flavors (all of which were delicious), I went with the butter pecan mixed with rainforest crunch and topped with Oreos. Man, I was in heaven! I'll give a bit of a low down on the process, because it wasn't overly clear to me before ordering. You can get your typical ice cream cones or other treats, or you can do it the right way and get one of their specialties. I chose this route and decided to go with the ice cream donut sandwich. With the sandwich, you get to choose the ice cream that goes in the middle of the donut, plus you can choose a topping from their toppings list which I have attached to this review. I chose the caramel crunch ice cream with the cookie dough topping, and the combination was really good. The donuts seem fresh, the ice cream was perfect texture, and the cookie dough... well who doesn't love cookie dough in ice cream? I have been to TeeJay's twice now, and I am DEFINITELY hooked. They drew me in with the lure of donut ice cream sandwiches as well as the fruity pebble ones. Love a creative business!! Everything I have had so far has been delicious and even though I've only interacted with them through the drive through, they have always been so friendly. I'm excited and hopeful to one day be able to sit inside, but I will definitely keep coming back through the times of Covid. I have been counting down the days until I could check this place out! Arrived around 8:15 pm and there was a very long line for their drive thru. We waited about an hour to get to the front. I'm just going to start this with a major disclaimer: Black Lives Matter protests have been ongoing and garnering so much attention (as they should have been, all along) and I REALLY am not an ice cream fan, but I AM committed to supporting the community however I can. We pulled up to the window and waited about 30 minutes- something that usually would have irritated me but especially in the current climate, I found heartening. An outpouring of support is NOT something I would have expected, especially in the area that TeeJay's is located in. While they're known for over-the-top indulgences (donut ice cream sandwiches, fruity pebble crispy ice cream sandwiches), my parents and I just grabbed individual scoops during which I was forced to admit that my father's order of Black Raspberry Cheesecake, in fact, reigned supreme. My cake batter would have elicited joy from a sugar-deprived preschooler and my mother's sorbet was just too, too tart - however, she made it into a smoothie the next day and with the addition of milk and some ice, it was perfectly refreshing. Ice cream is always good. Never a dull te for ice cream. My friends said that this place had a bomb cookies and cream ice cream. As my friends describe they stuff the hell out of it with cookies. I was in line for one hour and 10 minutes so it gave me plenty of time to check their Instagram for their flavor menu of the day (they post it every day ) and then their online menu to make sure I knew exactly what i wanted once I got up to the front. Each sweet treat has so many different elements and is very complex. It takes about 10-15 minutes to prepare, but it's definitely worth the wait. He invited us to try every single flavor until we had the perfect combination to go into our donut. He even went above and beyond by giving us an ingredient breakdown of each delicious ice cream. After much deliberation, I ordered the LemOreo and Graham Central with Cinnamon Toast Crunch topping. And let me tell you, I devoured this warm, sweet, yet chilled treat like it was the last supper.
