This was my first visit here I had went about 230pm since online it said it opened at 2pm but once I got there, there was a sign on the drive thru that said they opened at 3pm. So I decided to just wait in the lot, as I sat there 3 other cars came up and thought they were open as well. About 245pm a car pulled up to the drive thru and I said they don't open until 3pm but they sat there and then 2 more cars pulled up and I said to myself heck if they are lining up let me get in line too. I was glad I got in line because after me it was 4 cars behind me and after I ordered they asked me to drive to the front at the yellow lines and they would bring it out. As I sat there I watched more cars line up, by the time I left it was 12 cars lined up waiting to go thru the drive thru because inside of the store is not open. They opened promptly at 3pm and from watching it was only one worker in the store and I thought whew how is she going to do all of this and then at 3:03pm another lady came. The line was moving smoothly. They had everything they offered posted, sundaes, scoops, pint or quarts, specialty items and then a list of all flavors offered. I decided on the donut sandwich and was surprised when she asked what flavor??? Didn't know I even get to decide what flavor ice cream on the brownie sundae. I was getting it for my granddaughter she wanted just vanilla. The review a glazed donut with a scoop of cookies n cream in-between it was a different and interesting concept. I love glazed donuts but have never had a cold one and not with ice cream in the middle. It wasn't bad at all it was a nice sweet taste the ice cream was nice and smooth and creamy, I liked the fact the cookies in it were nice and big pieces. If I would have paid for this it would have been $6.25 plus tax. The brownie sundae I was informed it came with a brownie, ice cream, nuts, whipped cream and a cherry and was asked if I wanted all...of course. I was surprised of the containers they used to put the orders in. It was some styrofoam containers and they wrote on top what was in each container. I thought the presentation would have been better if they used the clear containers, I know they cost just a tad bit more but for the price of each item it's worth it. Back to the brownie it cost with tax $7.96 and was a little surprised it was just a small brownie and one scoop of ice cream. Although my granddaughter said it was good she said the brownie was nice and fudgey and not dry at all. My car club had a cruise in here for a socially distanced gathering on a Saturday afternoon. We were there for a few hours, and TeeJay's had a line at least 5 cars long the entire time. This black owned ice cream shop had been on my "need to try" list for a minute so this was finally my chance. At this time due to Covid, only the drive thru is open, so it's common to see two lines. There is one line on the side for orders, and a second line in front of the building for those that are waiting on their drive thru orders to be delivered by the workers. They are able to complete simple requests like a scoop of ice cream at the window, but more complex orders have to drive around and wait for a minimal time. No biggie. On today's visit I got a scoop of strawberry cheesecake and a scoop of their Cookie Monster flavored ice cream. Both creams were delicious and contained bits of cheesecake and cookies. My club members tried a variety including a root beer float and coffee flavored ice cream, in which, they enjoyed as well. A member's child really liked the doughnut ice cream sandwich too. Now if you've read any of the other reviews, you will know that this place has created ice cream filled doughnuts, sandwiches, and froot loop wraps for their ice cream. They also offer a free first topping for their scoops as well. But I wanted to keep it simple since my metabolism isn't as fast as it used to be. So I got to sample a few varieties and settled on the Graham Central which has bite sized chunks of graham cracker (maybe more crust like than cracker). Excellent taste and texture. The staff working were very helpful and friendly and there was no rush. There is a small amount of seating inside the shop too since I got my ice cream in a bowl and didn't want to eat it in my car (or while driving!) I've been hearing about this place and seeing a lot of posts on social media but have not stopped by because they only do drive thru and eating ice cream in the car on an 80 degree day even with the A/C blasting just doesn't seem that appealing to me. With all that being said, it doesn't seem like they will ever open the doors to their customers so I decided to bite the bullet and chance making a complete mess in my car. I had the keylime pie donut sandwich which was really good, but, as mentioned above would've been nice to not eat this in my car. We got there five minutes before they opened and there was already a line for the drive through! Dining room is closed so you have to through the drive through to order. They have signs posted with menu items, flavors, and toppings by the entrance. You get to the first window and place your order and then pull around back to the front and they will bring out your order to you. They prefer correct change or debit/credit for payment. Come hungry for some ice cream! I had some high expectations for this place after reading all the great reviews and let me tell ya, I was blown away. They weren't very busy when we came on a Sunday afternoon as we were the only ones there, and there were two staff members. They asked if we had been in before and then explained everything we needed to know. We each decided on a milkshake ($6.25). For each milkshake it comes with any ice cream combination of your choice, chocolate sauce inside the cup as well as on the whipped cream, one topping of your choice that goes around the lid and on top, and whipped cream in one of 3 flavors (Hershey's chocolate, Reese's, or regular). What a deal! If you want an extra topping it would be an extra 50 cents. Now it does take a bit of time to prepare each milkshake but it is worth it. They came out looking perfect! The ice cream was also delicious. $6.25 may seem a little pricey for a milkshake but I can't think of any other place in the area that assembles them like TeeJay's does. I know a local ice cream shop that charges the same price for just the milkshake and whipped cream with toppings at 75 cents each. Never going back there! I can't wait to come back to TeeJay's and try the rest of their menu. TeeJay's is located in a strip mall with a few other small businesses. So after dinner our family was crazing something sweet and decadent which led us over to finally check out TeeJay's for the first time. The are only doing driver thru right now since the have reopened post-COVID so we jumped in line and scoped out what to try. We decided to go with the things that have made TeeJay's so popular and got a donut/ice cream sandwich and a fruity pebbles/ice cream sandwich (think of ice cream between two rice crispie treats made from fruity pebbles). The staff was friendly, the service was excellent and the line moved super fast. I will be honest if we were just there for the fruity pebble treat we would have been impressed. If we would have been there for the donut it would have been a worthwhile visit. If we would have just been there for the ice cream we would have been thrilled. To our delight, the ice cream was every bit as delicious as we'd been told. The provide small samples to taste the various flavors, and actually encouraged tasting every single one. I had a an ice cream donut sandwich, which is their signature item. Whew! So good. The only thing was that I was worried about spilling melted ice cream out of the paper wrapping. Next time, I'll try the milkshakes which I have been told are amazing. Update: 2nd visit and this time I went for a milkshake. The donut was warm and soft but held together just fine, though I did eat this treat with a spoon (a temperature color change spoon!!).
