We ordered to feed 4 people. We ordered the half chicken and half beef. It comes with chips and queso, sausage, and quesadillas. On the side it comes with a side of rice, beans, tortillas, and salad with slide avocados. It was fresh! There's enough food for more than 4 people. This is my top favorite restaurant in Harlingen! I am from the valley but have been living in San Antonio. Every time i visit the valley, it is tradition to come eat here. I always order the Tejano Grill plate, 2 fajita tacos with 2 beef enchiladas with rice n beans. These are the best fajitas ever!! Grilled and chopped, no fat. I dont know how they make it but so flavorful. I have also tried their Botanas with my family which is great for sharing with big families. Their sweet tea and salsa is the best, on point! We always come here because we enjoy their food. Well today I decided to check online for their menu and prices, and let me tell you, DON'T trust it. I called and their service today was not good. I placed an order, which then I get placed on hold.. I then have someone else answer me asking me how they can help me. Then I get told the total cost and find out that their online prices and there prices in story vary. I've only been here once. It was amazing!! I wasn't disappointed. Probably the best breakfast spot I've found so far in Harlingen. The prices are great and portions are large. My boyfriend called and asked if they have carne guisada taco and who ever answered said no. Then I call and ask because I can clearly see it on the menu and she says yes. Seating at the restaurant was fairly fast, walk in and they are ready to seat. Chips con salsa was good, if you want some spicy salsa you come here finally! Best meal my husband and I had in Harlingen. My poor husband was sent thousands of miles from home to a remote area of Texas for work. When I visited him I wanted to find a good restaurant for him so he'd have a place to eat well at without me. I found this place, and in the year my husband spent out here, this was the best food he had when dining out. We stumbled upon this little gem thanks to the help of yelp. My husband ordered his standard order of enchiladas which tasted great. But the meat parillada caught my eye and that is what I ordered. To this day my husband always recalls that dish was his favorite restaurant meal out of his entire year away from home. It was a generous platter of sizzling meat, with every meat grilled to perfection. Ribs, sausages, chicken; it had everything. Even the quesadillas the parillada came with were savory morsels of cheesey scrumptious delicacies worthy of being its own dish rather than a side piece. Thought I'd give these guys another try. Wrong! I'll break it down so you won't have to. Ordered a mushroom burger..OMG. To best describe the beef patty we'd need to establish first that it was beef. At best, it was 75/25 but more likely a Soy based patty of mostly mechanically extruded stuff. They attempted to mask the inferior patty by warming or grilling (DK if patty is sourced raw or FC) on a charbroiler or pit. Helped but was still mushy. The mushrooms .. Canned! The ugly grey rubbery pieces that get that way because they've been in brine for quite a while. This burger could be 1000% better with a couple of minor tweaks. $9.99 is way over priced. I will say the fries were ok as were the veggies. In summary .. don't go there and order a burger. You'd be better served ordering at McD and that's no stretch. Plate #2: 2-meat from the pit. Played it safe by ordering Yard Bird & Sage. That's chicken and sausage for the laymen out there. I was served a leg quarter & what appeared to be the low end of the scale .. Eckridge Sausage. Don't know why in the RGV this sage is king. Finely ground with a lot of fillers .. should of been no surprise to me as it was completely consistent with their beef patty. I DO NOT exaggerate when I tell you that the leg quarter was at best 3-4oz cooked. My mistake was that I didn't take a pic! They skimped on the sage as well as they sliced what amounted to approximately 3oz of sage into thin slices cut on the bias to give the appearance of being larger. Allows for better plate coverage and that's it. $11.99 including 2 sides, amounts to theft. I would of ordered the brisket but from past visits I can tell you that there's much better elsewhere. In summary .. I still can not figure out why every time I pass by this place it's packed to the hilt. I've yet to have 1 positive experience here. I guess I'll do like every Major League Baseball player does when he gets to the plate and hope to not get that 3rd strike. Happy Gatherings Folks. read more

We started with guacamole. It was fresh diced tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, and cilantro on top of fresh avocado with lime slices (it was missing garlic). You have to stir it together but that allows you to reduce the amount of each individual ingredient to bring it to your personal preference. We both had sweet tea to drink. You could tell it was fresh brewed, not too strong nor too sweet. I ordered the beef fajitas plate. The charros was good, rice was what one would expect. The beef however was lacking seasoning and they included 1 small tomato slice for a large fajita. Husband got the Brisket BBQ sandwich. That's the first time we have ever had potato salad with pimentos in it (not to our taste). Husband did comment that the brisket sandwich was tender and tasty.bAs for the service, I highly recommend asking if Jason is working and try to get placed in his area. The renovation of the this building has significantly improved; my mother has seen the building before and admits they have made some huge adjustments. I got the Texas Brisket Melt and my mom ordered the Fish and Shrimp, it took a bit of waiting for our food to get out to us, but seeing as the food was pretty good the wait was fine. When it came to service, they fell short. Our waiter seemed totally distracted and didn't really seem as if she wanted to be there; whenever she was talking to us or asking us a question, she'd be looking off somewhere else or seemingly trying to rush through checking in on us. This was a little disheartening because there was literally NO wait for us to be seating, even though the parking lot is always packed solid. From out of town, this is our go to when we come visit. I called in an order, went through drive through to pick our food. Once we arrived home realized part of order was missing. I called back to restaurant and spoke with manager requesting to please remake a fresh order of what food was missing because by the time we drove back into town to restaurant then back home the original order would definitely be cold. She the proceeded to tell me she "couldn't guarantee " a fresh order. I was definitely not pleased to hear that and was really disappointed because we absolutely love the food from the restaurant. Well I wasn't going to settle for old cold food that had been sitting out on the counter, so just got a refund and took our business elsewhere. The menu has a wide range of choices for those of you with picky family members, this is the place where everyone has something to choose from. My husband had the brisket sandwich, he ordered it very lean and there was zero fat; it came with a basket of delicious crispy fries. I had the surf and turf fajitas and they were delicious. The meat was ridiculously tender and juicy; the shrimp was ok, I'm just not a big fan of battered shrimp. My meal came with rice, barracho beans (sp), lettuce, avocado, and a slice of tomato. If you tell me there is a 5 star taco shop, in lil ol' Harlingen, I would've called you a liar. But, if they have 5 stars, well I must try them!! "Delicious" is the first word to come out of her mouth. I ordered the Tejano breakfast, which consisted of 3 barbacoa taquitos on corn tortillas, retried beans, homemade papas, and a cup of menudo. She ordered the brisket omelette, which came with papas and frijoles as well. Holy Shit!!!!! These people know how to cook. It's as close to homemade as you're gonna get! Including the flour tortillas. The red salsa is ok, but the green sauce in the squeeze bottles on the tables, is the way to go. It's very similar to La Doña sauce. Very tasty and spicy! Once again our fellow Yelpers led us in the right direction! Smells like a barbeque restaurant! Floor is dangerously greasy. Very extensive menu (refer to my pics), delicious chips and salsa and great prices. We both enjoyed our dinners - tacos for me and asado puerco taco for the S.O.
