Had a lovely Thursday lunch here. Started w French fries, marinated olives and the hummus plate. The perfect starters for the day and my friend and I ordered a margarita flatbread and a prosciutto flatbread. DELICIOUS! The prosciutto flatbread had a fig purée, prosciutto, balsamic glaze and arugula. Honestly I could eat it every single day for the rest of my life. Our server Jackie was amazing as well. I ordered the Steak entre and it was cooked perfectly my husband ordered the Shrimp Fra Diavlo, of course I had to try a bite! Everything was delicious. I haven't tasted blatant discrimination on such a direct level in a short while. And Tel Aviv ALWAYS has that on their menu. We get over 30 minutes of conscious negligence, miss dinner menu because of it, and the bartender loses our debit card she kept for our tab. After being denied entrance to Tel Aviv on several separate occasions for at least one person in our party having tennis shoes on whilst the rest of our party dresses in casual, summer wedding-type attire, we decided to give this place another shot. Dress codes matter to the ambience and we respect that. We just did not realize the dress codes for dinner in Providence, RI in between Hot Club and Whiskey Republic was more strict than a Boston fine dining establishment or a Boston night club. Last night we were finally able to experience Tel Aviv as we walked through at 9:30 p.m. As we walk by the bar, we ask if we can grab a table and the staff tells us "a table anywhere." We grab a table and patiently wait for someone to swing by. We watched as someone greeted four separate tables that had hookah and food already in front of them. Then he quickly walks right by our table of four with his head down and eyes on the ground. At this point it is fifteen minutes in and we have had no one greet us, thus no menu or water on the table of course. We walk to the bar and decide to get our own drinks to start while one of our friends stayed at the table. The bartender tells us there are servers out there. She kindly makes us a few drinks and we order the hookah through the bartender as well. She takes our debit card to start a tab. It is 9:53pm. I know this because my friend still sitting at the table texts me what food he wants. I ask if dinner is still being served, and I get a "Yes". I grab menus on the way back to the table. STILL no one has come by the table! We quickly decide on 5 appetizers and 2 entrees "to start". We look around and still no one is acknowledging us. I then run to the bar and ask to put food in at 10:02 and she tells us that the late night menu starts at 10. Okay.....we have been here SINCE 9:30, you clearly know that no server has approached us the entire time, I have had to approach the bar 3 times for questions and ordering....but OKAY LATE NIGHT MENU because we respect the kitchen's timeline. She gives us the late night menu and we go back to the table bummed. Bartender brings hookah mouth pieces (15+min after ordering the hookah) and tells us that hookah will be 7 minutes. We grab the attention of another worker to place our food order. The hookah takes about 25 min to arrive versus 7 min and it is burning so harsh that the shisha now has no taste and instantly punches the back and middle canal of the throat. We try to adjust the coals but we didn't receive any tongs and do the best we can without tongs, but eventually get a worker to fix it. A full hour has passed since we first walked in, our food order is in, we have our drinks, and it's time to enjoy the night. A young, female waitress finally stops by and asks if we need anything. We sit and notice anglo-americans around us in Chuck Taylor sneakers, black Air Forces, and various styles of tennis shoes. This seemed to anger us more than the lack of attention at the table. We order a few more drinks and a round of shots to complete our weak dinner at Tel Aviv and these shots come in the tiniest, barely 1 0unce Plastic Dental Cups. WHAT?! We then ask for the bill and the bartender tells my friend she never received his card. I go up to the bar, she sees my face and immediately admits she took the card and lost it. You just told my friend you didn't get a card and now no one is doing anything to help the situation. The gentleman who served us just shakes his head at the situation and how the night played out. He knows we have been kind and patient. He knows the staff and establishment messed up. But he can't do anything but tell me that it is his final week working there. When we leave we ask the bouncer what the dress code is. He says, "It depends." Depends on what? He says, "I can't have anyone looking hood in here." Ummmmmmmm.....thank you because the last time we came here No One looked hood and my friend's father was in a dress shirt, dress pants, had a belt, and appropriately complementing black, "tennis shoes" and this is a guy who Rarely wears anything but dress shoes. Overall, if you are not the right shade of skin or in the company of the appropriate shade of skin in a ratio of dark:light that makes the establishment feel comfortable, you are pressing your luck to get in, get greeted, or get adequately served. Service: 2 Food: 1 Atmosphere: 2 I'm sure others have stated it but want to make sure it is known that this is a hookah and cigar bar downstairs yet the entire place, like upstairs where you dine, smells of smoke. The waitress was consistently busy to the point where we had to ask where half of our food was. There was also a manager at the bar near us that didn't lift a finger to help out (talk about lazy). Food was pretty mediocre all around... We started with the Feta (2) for dipping which was literally a bowl of warmed up Feta, nothing special. I had the steak sandwich (1) which was unseasoned and cooked way under, my Gf had the lamp-pops (1) which were way over cooked and cold when they got to the table and our friend ordered a salad (1) that was drenched in dressing (and it came half way through the meal) read more

We made a reservation for a large party several weeks in advance and confirmed two days before. When our party arrived we were told there was no reservation and that they don't take reservations. They managed to squeeze our party into a space with too few seats and there was unexpected loud club music playing, but we made do. When I called to express my disappointment -- not to ask for a refund or compensation -- though somewhat apologetic, they defended themselves by saying that they were swamped and understaffed and the person at the front was unaware that they had begun taking reservations. Even if he didn't know, there clearly was no table set aside. As I was thanking the person on the phone at the end of the conversation, they hung up on me. Came here for drinks prior to dinner at Los Andes. Sat down at the outside bar and had some drinks. The bartender outside was very friendly. I had a captain and coke and my wife a glass of wine. The prices were reasonable but the mixed drink had very little alcohol in it. We left and came back later in the night for late night and decided to stick with beers and wine as you know what you're getting with beers and wine. I'm 36 years old and the music was great In my opinion (late 90's hip hop - mid 2000's). Our table really enjoyed listening to the dj's playlist. The hookah came out in about 10 minutes after we ordered no complaints there . We'd go back again. My recommendation is to give people the heads up that they can sit anywhere they want as a lot of people stand around looking what to do and make the drinks with a tad more alcohol in it. We wanted to eat somewhere on the water front, as we were just passing through town. I wish we would have kept looking. I understand this is a cigar and hookah bar, but on their website they say they have a "smoke free" section. Wrong. It's simply a walk upstairs, still smoky and smelly. The service was okay. We came during the off season time, and non peak eating time. There may have been maybe 6 patrons downstairs and my party of 4 upstairs. Our waitress seemed to be constantly busy, to the point where she brought out 3 of our entrees and seemed to forget about the 4th... We had to find her downstairs five minutes later to ask for the rest of our food. There was a manger sitting at the upstairs bar area that didn't lift a finger to help us, or his staff. We had a decent sized party here. I was looking to try something new. Oops. Although my fiancee's steak kebabs arrived cold, the food was decent enough. However, the service was extremely slow; this was in spite of the place being nearly empty. Also, we had an issue with an espresso martini arriving in a martini glass filled with ice, resulting in a drinkable beverage size of next to nothing (generally, drinks in martini glasses are strained for this reason). As for the atmosphere, the decor was all over the place. The first floor felt like a country club, which, ok, it's a cigar bar. I kind of get it. But the only way to describe the second floor would be an "upscale" nautical night club... or trying to be one. With the prime waterfront location they enjoy, I would think the outdoor area would be set up with heaters and protection from the elements, but this was not the case. Wanted to try a nice place for brunch that also had outdoor dining. While they do have a small brunch menu, the food was absolutely fantastic! The shakshuka was phenomenal and the fig cocktail was delicious. Hostess and waitresses were very friendly and service was quick. Owner apparently threatens wage garnishment against servers for mundane mistakes, and will force them to bully customers. I was with a group of six people, on a busy Friday, seated in the outdoor area. Most of our party ordered drinks, one other person got fries, and I ordered a Thai chicken satay appetizer. About 20-30 minutes after ordering, a different server comes by asking who ordered prime ribs, and since I did not order prime ribs, I informed her that dish wasn't mine. Maybe five minutes later, another pair of servers came by with the plate of ribs, asking again if I ordered ribs, to which I said no, I ordered chicken satay. Some time after that, our original server came by also with these ribs! I again said that I ordered chicken, to which she apologized, and offered to fix it for me. I said thanks but no thanks, since it was getting late, and I didn't want to keep my party waiting for me. The rest of the evening was fairly uneventful, the bill came, no charge on there for any chicken satay or ribs. We all got up to leave, and as we headed to the exit, our server came after me with a separate bill, claiming that I still had to pay for the ribs that she insisted I ordered. She followed up that it was all wrapped up in the back. She seemed quite panicked, and said that it would come out of her pay. At this point, I wasn't real pleased about being chased down over a dish I stated multiple times that I did not order, but I did pay. I'm most disgusted that a restaurant owner would dock a servers pay over a misheard order (this was a noisy place with loud music, it's not hard to mishear things). Servers are paid so little as it is, and you're going to threaten them with cutting their pay for any little mistake? Abhorrent, that's basically wage theft. read more

This place is a piece of heaven on earth. Great view, great food, great service, a very nice selection of cigars. The humidor has a real mist thingy instead of the "bedroom" humidifiers. Wednesdays they have a deal for a full dinner and very good deals on sampled pack cigars. I am still not sure how they can make it happen. Once in a while, they have special middle-eastern food. There was one time this eggplant with chickpeas and tahini--can not remember the name of it but super yummy. Just came back to also mention the music. Tel Aviv is the place to go for a great time. The atmosphere is undeniably the best around. They have a beautiful outdoor area, cigars, hookahs two bars and TVs to catch the sports games. They have a wonderful staff who are extremely friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They have a wide variety of drinks that are outstanding and the vibe is always on point. So. I've been here many of times and loved it (clearly why I have returned multiple times) but today was different. I was NOT impressed by the service AT ALL. We split the bill between 4 people and they could not get the bill right. But even if that was the issue I wouldn't care, I cared about more about the fact that our waitress was not personable at all. We had to find other staff members to feel like we were consequential customers. Moral of this review is that I HATE BAD customer service and that is what we experienced here today. Please correct this type of behavior in order to have my friends and I return. I do not need any commentary or apologizes from co workers/management. I just want it proved the next time I walk in. Service wise this place is a complete joke. We were there at around 4pm and sat at the bar. The place was by no means full at all. Empty tables and so forth. Not surprising for the time of the afternoon. The lady bartenders, however, were running around like headless chickens. We were barely able to get one drink each. The drink themselves were fine but literally sat with our late lunch menus for 45 minutes while no one thought to take our order. They would not even attempt to assess if the customers needed anything, no eye contact nothing. It was a complete and total waste of time. We could barely even get our bill. Saturday night couples meal with cigars afterwards. The menu was good and the meal made to order and vert tasty. The restaurant was strangely empty but maybe will be much busier with the warmer nights coming since the view of the water is charming. I was a loyal customer to this place after they merged with Cigar Master. Ever since the merge, this place has plummeted. Staff was consistently rude to us after the merge and they actually refused to let us in tonight. The current folks there do not have the faintest clue about cigars; they stare at you blankly while you walk into the humidor.
