3 1/2... The last time I was so freaking happy .. this past time I'm happy and disappointed!!! For an appetizer we ordered duck fat fries. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft in the center. Not greasy and very delicious. I personally did not need the dip as they were also seasoned very well! They exceeded my expectation as expected! For an entree, we split a porterhouse for two. We ordered it cooked medium and it was pre-sliced showing medium as well. The portion was not what I expected. There was a substantial amount of fat on my serving. I was also served second to my male date and not served the sides like him as well. We ordered roasted cremini mushrooms and roasted Brussels sprouts with applewood smoked bacon as the sides. The portion size was as expected and was enough to share. The Brussels sprouts themselves were burnt on the outside but very soft and juicy in the inside. The bacon was unrecognizable and completely burnt. Both him and I were disappointed with that side. The cremini mushrooms had onions in them. I have a sensitivity to onions that causes an allergic reaction. Our waiter, Chris, did not ask us of any allergies. I ate around them as they were good and we were very hungry. I almost always have been asked about allergies! The presentation of the steak was lovely on the table as it was angled off another plate and pre-sliced. The sides were served on hot cast iron which was placed on a cool white plate to not burn the table. It was the first snow and I feel they were preoccupied with getting out while it was sticking. I didn't want to post this review because I currently have 69 reviews to my name (nice), but this establishment deserves one. My fiancé took me here for my birthday and it was absolutely perfect. We sat in the main dining room which is truly something beautiful. Our server was attentive and knew the menu inside and out, which was very helpful when trying to choose from the dozens of whiskeys/bourbons/scotches available (seriously, awesome whiskey menu). The drinks were great, but the food was exceptional. The duck fat fries as an appetizer is a MUST, and you really can't go wrong with any steak. I had the T-bone for one and enjoyed every single bite of it. My fiancé had the filet which had to have been at least 3 or 4 inches tall. We have gone to Tellers for 40 years to celebrate our special occasions. We just went there to celebrate our 44 th anniversary and were very disappointed, main dining room was very loud and over crowded. Couldn't even talk to each other over the noise. Our daughter had tried to surprise us by paying for our drinks and the waiter didn't bother to relay her message to us. We found out after we got home that she had paid for them and the message that they had promised to convey to us. My craving for beef Wellington around my birthday was what originally brought us to Tellers and the entire dining experience is what will have us going back. This was my BEST indoor dining experience of 2020! I'm so glad that I got to celebrate my special day here. Upon arrival at our reservation time, we were promptly seated in the upstairs dining room. We had our own little section due to social distancing. I had already looked up the menu on the drive there so I was actually ready to order my whole meal by time the server introduced himself. My other half made his order based solely on the recommendations of the waiter after a brief conversation about how he liked his steaks. We didn't realize how hungry we were until we devoured the first that hit our table about the bread bowl which was the crispy Calamari appetizer. With my palate primed, I was ready for the succulent and hearty Filet Mignon Wellington which was perfectly cooked and really hit the spot. This was the same sentiment that was echoed about the Rib-eye Special which was accompanied with a generous amount of peppercorn sauce and au-jus sauce. Though the steaks were the shining stars, an honorable mention is warranted for the Lobster Mac & Cheese. I loved that the lobster was right on top and I didn't have to go searching for. The Mac & cheese was stovetop style with good flavor. I would overlook the other reviewers misgivings about this dish and highly recommend it. The icing on the cake was the slice of decadent Chocolate cake which was complimentary for my birthday. Shout out to the entire waitstaff who were prompt and very responsive to our needs. Teller's blew me away. First of all, this place is huge and there's easy parking. Very good option to host large dinners here, they well equipped for it. We were seated upstairs which was awesome because it's so much more quiet than downstairs where the party is lol! The waiter was excellent and so attentive, always spot on and checking in. The NY strip Delmonico style really got to my tastebuds, it was so good I ordered one to take home for my husband, I couldn't stop raving about it. I've wanted to try tellers for some time now and I'm very happy I finally did. The service was excellent, our wiater was engaging and very attentive. He made some suggestions and they were spot on perfect. The drinks were delicious and the menu was well rounded. Appetizers were calamari and the crab cake. Calamari was fairly average but still good. The crab cake was delicious but a bit overpriced for one. Our Entrees were perfect, the delmonico steak was the perfect temperature and a great value. The flounder oreganata was light and delicious. I highly recommend the "tater tots" for a side or the burnt brocolli. Unfortunately we ran out of room for dessert but we will definitely be back. 1st off- yum- Tellers chophouse in Islip-is a beautiful large classy restaurant that was a bank in1929 It was the first Islip bank then another and then a Chase. After that it became the restaurant that, 24 years later, still stands and operates on Main Street. Our server was Lisette M. who has been working there for 22 years. The service was elegant. I felt under dressed when two men wearing suits came in. Check their hours. Lunch is served at 12-3 and they have a special menu 24.00 each and a choice of appetizers and entrees. The choices are good ones. And, yes, they have an interesting dessert menu which includes a Root beer float as an option. The décor- 32-foot ceiling. There are large silk flower arrangements placed in different areas. The front area has 3 steps at the entrance. There is outdoor seating. The outside back area has parking and a ramp entrance. We entered through the kitchen. It overall we found it to be clean, with a full staff. Upstairs was the Safe area and now 1 room sets a long table of 16 and the other about 32. An assortment of black and white photos keeping with the atmosphere, white cloths, cushions on chairs and customized china plates and steak knives with image and name embossed. There is one smaller service bar in front with interesting decanters: along with a fine-looking gentleman! We had a bacon appetizer and a salad with fresh apples and candied pecans, pastrami , and steak tips. We plan to go back. read more

I just had dinner here 8/3/25. The title: What's the point? I've been to many steakhouses on Long Island and in the city. The drinks are the same as any nice establishment (overpriced). The waiter and staff were nice and I took care of them accordingly. Hands down the BEST restaurant on Long Island. I had my 26th birthday at Tellers last night and had the best experience. The food... THE FOOD... was immaculate. Everything we ordered was beyond delicious. I had the beef wellington , iceberg wedge, shrimp cocktail, bacon, creme brûlée and the sides of tater tots, broccoli and mac n cheese. The "tater tots" were these phenomenal potato croquettes that totally blew us out of the water! Anyways ... I'm a huge fan now and just so happy with our dinner choice. I also had their cosmo and it was soooooo good. Totally recommend checking this spot out. Chrissy wanted to go here for mother's day and we both agreed that we will definitely be going back soon. We had to wait for the rest of our party to show so we sat at the bar until their arrival. I ordered the tellers old fashioned that was perfectly made with just the right amount of ingredients delicious. For for our meal I ordered the cowgirl ribeye medium rare and Chrissy ordered the New York strip special medium rare both came out perfectly cooked and needed no seasoning whatsoever very good. We also got a side of scalloped potatoes that were creamy and delicious and also some grilled asparagus that had just the right amount of crunch and were cook perfectly. I ordered the 16oz NY strip. When it arrived it was clearly every bit of 16oz (before cooking shrink) and cooked perfectly. The issue I have is that I don't believe this meat had even 10 days of age. I have been in the meat business for over 40 years and I know what I talking about. As far as it being USDA prime, all I can say is there is a prime (from below the grass line) and restaurant grade prime that no regular person could ever get. Being the highest priced steakhouse on LI I would expect the real McCoy and real dry age. Service and everything else was very good. read more

My wife and I have added this steakhouse to our list of top 3 restaurants on Long Island. It's been a staple for us when celebrating special events like birthdays or anniversaries. Situated in an old bank, the outside decor is equally as impressive as the inside. High vaulted ceilings, well-decorated and immaculately maintained, one of the inside dining rooms boasts a view of the old bank vault which, if open during your dining, reveals its conversion to a nicely oriented wine cellar. The second floor, appropriately named The Board Room, isn't used for general dining but is available for smaller private parties. Definitely a consideration of mine for a future event. I strongly suggest making a reservation at least a week in advance, especially if attempting to get a table during peak dining hours and on Thursdays, Fridays or weekends. At the time of booking, the staff inquired as to whether we were celebrating any special events, which we were. When we arrived, we were seated and presented with a handwritten note acknowledging our milestone. It was a nice touch. The food in the several times we've been there has always been cooked to perfection. Been to plenty of steakhouses where medium rare winds up rare or medium, or in even crappier ones well done. This certainly isn't one of those places. In addition to having a fairly large variety of food options, many options also have a variety of available preparations or enhancements (think Gorgonzola topped filet mignon or NY strip Bearnase). The whisky (whisky, scotch, bourbon) and wine menus are quite diverse and impressive and the specialty drinks are incredible. Highly suggest the calamari, black pepper bacon slab, and duck fat fries appetizers. Can't really go wrong with any of the accessories, but I'd recommend the roasted Brussels sprouts, burnt broccoli, scalloped Parmesan potatoes, and lobster Mac and cheese. As for the main courses, it's hard to go with anything other than a steak here given the venue, so I'd suggest the filet mignon or the beef Wellington. Should you choose to deviate from carnivorous red-meat indulgence, keep an eye out for seared tuna or bass. If you have any semblance of space left in your digestive tract by the end of the night, don't pass on the opportunity to feast on the Juniors chocolate layer cake. You won't be disappointed. It's more than enough to split among two. Unless you're flush with cash, Teller's isn't an everyday dining spot. That said, you pay for what you get. If you're looking for a professional and attentive staff from arrival to departure, amazing food and cocktails, and a fine dining experience, this is certainly the place for you. read more

I was torn between giving 4 and 5 stars, and decided to go for the 5. My family wanted to come here for a special meal for my father's 70th birthday. We were able to easily make the reservation for 6 people online with a credit card a week before. I always love when making a reservation doesn't require a phone call. We were seated immediately upon arrival and were able to check our coats. We sat in the main dining room which was beautiful with its tall ceilings and spacious layout. There was plenty of space between us and the other tables. A+ for atmosphere. Our server was friendly and patient with us. One person in our party was a little late and our server assured us it was no problem and never rushed us. He was very helpful in answering our questions and making suggestions. Our water glasses were always full which is much appreciated. They had some very expensive bottles of wine on the menu but also a nice variety of more affordable wines. We ended up picking a bottle of Sparkling Pointe for $50 which did the trick. My partner and I split the rib eye steak. It was perfectly cooked (rare) with great char on the outside. We also split the duck fat fries and mushrooms which were the perfect size for sharing. My other family members very much enjoyed their steaks, although my mother says her was slightly overcooked. My nephew ordered a bread basket that never came but we all had plenty of food. Oh well. Desserts were pretty large and good for sharing. My partner and I split the fudge layer cake which was rich and decadent and definitely satisfied my sweet tooth. They comped my father's dessert since we were here for his birthday and also gave us a $25 gift card for a future visit. Super nice! It was just the two of us, and we were very excited. The building itself is beautiful, for those who don't know it's a converted bank. Super high ceilings and spacious, lots of room. They also converted the old bank vault into a wine cellar, very cool. We started off with their thick cut bacon, it was good. I had higher expectations since I've had these types of apps at Peter Lugers and other steakhouses, and I don't think theres was as good. For the main course, we each had the petite filet mignon and we had the creamed spinach and whipped potatoes as our Ala crate sides. The tellers cosmo was a great drink - I ordered two; it was so good. The five cheese Mac was definitely a favorite of both adults and kids. The duck fat fries were very overpriced but was delicious; very small portion. The porterhouse is not something I would recommend; neither are the lobster bisque's which was very watery; nor the Wellington puff. The tellers ribeye was good and so was the cowgirl. We sat upstairs. Our waiter was nice and attentive. I got the flounder and shrimp scampi. Both were delicious!! I did not care for the spinach side at all though and I love spinach. That was disappointing. My husband and our 2 friends got steaks. All 3 unanimously said their steaks were overcooked and were just okay at best. For the price it should be much better than okay! So many people I know love their steaks, so maybe it was an off night? They got creamed spinach and potatoes with their steaks. They said the sides were good but not great. I tried the creamed spinach, and I agree. It was pretty good but I've had much better. Everyone loved their deserts. Overall, we had a nice night. I really enjoyed my meal for the the most part. It was my 60th birthday and my family wanted to treat me to a great steakhouse. We were so disappointed. My parents fish dinner was cold, my husband's and my steak wasn't cooked the way asked. Get the Filet Mignon Wellington, don't miss out! Shrimp and Lobster wontons, baked clams, eggplant in ricotta special were all super delicious. I have had some disappointing dining experiences lately so when my kids came home for Thanksgiving and my daughter was craving an amazing steakhouse, I knew we had to go to Tellers because you can always bank on a great meal there and we were not disappointed. Just a warning though, if you like your steaks swimming in butter, then this is not the place for you. We were all craving really well prepared steaks and we were rewarded! But I am jumping ahead because I should start with the apps of warm bread (you need to order as they are not complimentary), Caesar salad, calamari, duck fat fries and black pepper bacon. All were great but the bacon was the star because unlike other steakhouses, the bacon here is more like BBQ pork belly than bacon, so very tender and juicy. For entrees, we got 2 porterhouse for two and a cowgirl ribeye. We ordered one porterhouse medium rare and the other medium and the temps were perfect! Same for the rare ribeye my daughter ordered! We had to get creamed spinach and whipped potato of course but we were so hungry we also got the lobster Mac and side of fries (yes we got fries for app and a side; I told you we were hungry!). Again, all were so good but the lobster Mac really stood out because they give you big chunks of lobster, not just barely visible bits you can barely taste. I don't know if you can tell from the pics but the side of fries are HUGE! Crispy and well seasoned but so big! So much food that we only ordered two desserts that we did not even finish. The banana cream pie was the consensus favorite. I think they top it with white chocolate shavings but not sure. Great meal!! read more
