As always, Osaka never fails to provide amazing food and service . While the crazy role is not on the menu anymore they still let you order it in. It is absolutely delicious my favorite. Please please please bring back the happy hours. I really miss them !!!!!!

Had a fun time here with friends. We were able to grab a table the same day for 4 on a Friday night which was cool. The reservation ran about 30 minutes over, but not complaining. Our chef was ok, I've had better before. The food was decent as usual, and the portions were large. Ive never really looked at the sushi menu before that visit, but my next time in will be for sushi only! Im ready to give it a run.

I had such a fun experience at Osaka Japanese Steakhouse! My friends and I did the Teppanyaki experience and it was absolutely amazing. I ordered the shrimp and scallops, and everything was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The chefs made the whole experience really entertaining, and the atmosphere was lively and fun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Since we were celebrating my birthday, the staff surprised me by singing a birthday song, which made the night feel really special. They even brought out a dessert for me that was kind of like a maple tiramisu.... it was unique and so good! Very light and not too sweet. Overall, it was such a great dining experience with delicious food, great entertainment, and very thoughtful staff. I would definitely recommend coming here with friends or for a celebration!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]First off, this really is a fun place to celebrate your birthday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server Cara was fantastic as well as the rest of the staff that day. The hosts are typical gen z kids who just don't really care if you're seated or not and just want to stare at their fingernails though. It's like you're bothering them when you check in. Expect to sit down later than your reservation if you go during a busy time frame. We got there for our reservation at 530 and sat down at 550? It's a bit out of their control as some guests are having a good time. I've got nothing against that! The food is good and fulfills the criteria for teppanyaki. We also got sashimi which was pretty good too. Portion sizes are very appropriate [[HIGHLIGHT]]This location is cleaner than the one in Gilbert and has a nice atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Expect that you're paying for more than the food and you're there for a good time and you'll enjoy your visit!

The night we went they were short staffed so the service was really slow. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Th replace was busy with birthdays and graduations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was good. Would go back.

This was a fun spot to celebrate a birthday with the family! This spot seems like it is a hot spot for birthday & similar celebrations. They have an assortment of regular menu items to order such as appetizers and sushi, or you can order teppanyaki and have it made on the grill right in front of you. Every teppanyaki plate comes with rice, some veggies, two shrimp plus your choice of meats along with a small salad and soup. I am not a huge fan of the dressing they use, so I didn't eat the salad but the soup was good despite being just a broth with two small mushrooms floating in it. My teppanyaki dish was delicious, the meat was cooked just right and I enjoy the sauce they serve with it. I do wish that the veggies had been cooked slightly more and they could use slightly bigger portions for the meats with how much each dish is. While I do understand that part of the cost of the meal is the entertainment from watching the chef cook, a bigger protein portion I think would help balance out the cost. Especially since most parties will typically type the chef as well before he leaves the table. Our table also had some of their sushi, spicy edamame and dumpling. All three dishes were enjoyable and I didn't have any issue with them. A family member of ours treated us to a dinner here for my husbands birthday & had mentioned to the staff that it was his birthday. At the end of our meal they brought over some small cakes, a big candle & a fun mask for my husband to wear while they played some loud drums and a happy birthday song. You'll frequently hear this through out your dinner as almost every table there had someone celebrating either a birthday or another event. The chef who did our teppanyaki had also made my husband a balloon headband to wear because it was his birthday & the chef liked his hair style. This spot is a little pricey per person for a meal, but to visit for a celebration or a once in a while thing I think it is worth it for the experience! Make sure to call ahead and make a reservation, depending on the time and day you visit it will be packed.

I am not from here but a group of 12 family members went to celebrate a birthday.[[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was lively but it was little smoky.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the meal for 2 for $59. We selected chicken, filet mignon and double shrimp. The food was amazing and shout out to our chef, "Oshi". For the birthday song, they have a head covering and sparkler on a dessert. It's so fun. We also tried their cocktails and were really good, especially the raspberry lychee sakitini. I recommend coming here!

The fat from one person's plate that "just happens sometimes"

We had a party of 8 for a birthday dinner. Food: For the most part, the food was consistent and very good, though we did have an exception which I'll explain later. We had steaks, fillets, seafood, chicken, and a non teppanyaki dish, Yaki soba. I do want to saw the water there tastes bad. They really should filter it. Service: The service was surprisingly a little off from what we've had previously. The teppanyaki show wasn't different, but the chef decided to put all the fat from everyone's steak into one person's plate, and it ended up being about 1/3 of their steak! There's no way the cook didn't know these huge pieces of fat weren't trimmed. One of the fat pieces was l larger than any of the cut pieces of meat. Once the food was served, we felt rushed to pay. I barely had time to look at the check when they expected me to pay which I'm not really used to. When I asked about this untrimmed fat on one of our plates, I was told that can happen with certain cuts of meat. Very disappointing for the person that was left with that. Ambiance: [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's the typical fun, loud ambience you come to expect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, I can't say I'd recommend it based on our service tonight, but most guests had no issues so if I could make a suggestion, if you're going there, and you're between steak and a fillet, go with the fillet for $3 more. It's delicious and you won't have to worry about getting stuck with a lot of inedible steak.

We chose to go to Osaka this particular day bc of my boyfriend's birthday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was very busy for a Thursday night! They sat us down fairly quickly once the whole party arrived.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We weren't asked right away for our drink order which was a little annoying but it was busy so we understood. Once we got our drinks (which took quite awhile to get), we continued to wait for the chef. We waited for almost an hour for him to begin! After asking the waiter how much longer until the chef arrived he was better with his communication bc no one said anything for a long time. The time issue was my biggest pet peeve here but once the chef arrived it was smooth sailing. The first drink I ordered was called lavender flowers or something like that. It was mid-probably a 4. The second drink I ordered was much better--mango margarita! The apps we ordered were the coconut fried shrimp which was pretty good. I'd give it a 6 and the edamame was yummy. The miso soup was very salty and did not enjoy, side salad ok. I really enjoyed the meat the most. I ordered the salmon and bf ordered the shrimp and chicken combo--I would come Back again for this meat! So tender and juicy and flavored just right. The rice was not bad but a little oily. The chef was quite interactive and we loved it when he would spray the sake directly into our mouths! [[HIGHLIGHT]]My bf loved it when they sang the birthday song and had him put the mask on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It had a really fun atmosphere and everyone was having a good time laughing![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They provided a delicious tiramisu cake at the end of the birthday song. We will be back!

We came to celebrate two birthday's. They don't seat you unless your full party is present fyi. We all got teppanyaki and I think the $9 share plate charge is outrageous. It's almost like they give you less meat than a single order with the share plate. We got rice, veggies, soup and salad. The salad was super gross, with barely any dressing and what was there was so watered down it wasn't good. The lettuce was frozen. Service was great, from the cook to the waiter. The birthday song is funny and they bang a drum and bring a little cake out too. Overall don't think the price is worth the quality and quantity of food.

Ask the Community - Osaka Japanese Steakhouse

Is there tepan for lunch on weekends?

Lunch special only from Monday to Friday 11-2:30pm, and it’s only for regular dine in, teppanyaki show not start til 3pm.

    What is the paper roll?

    Soy paper? Instead of seaweed?

Do you have Happy Hour still? And if so, what times are Happy Hour at this location?

    They discontinued it.

    Free meal on my Birthday?

You have to sign up for their club and they send you an email worth $25 in your birthday month.

    What time are lunch hours?

Are reservations required for seating at the grill?

Nope! But there could be a wait.

Do they have yum yum sauce?

sure do, the best in east valley!

    Do they have scorpion bowls?

I've enjoyed dinning @ Osaka (Superstition Springs location here in East Mesa) and was there a few days ago. I don't recall ever seeing "Scorpion Bowl" on the menu.…

    Do the entrees have MSG?

I don't think so. I have a serious MSG sensitivity and I don't get headaches from the place. Also, the teppen entrees are cooked before your eyes and I don't see them using salt at all. It's all soy sauce, butter, and rice wine.

What's the price range of both the Tepan menu, and the non tepan menu?

We all got the Teppan and it was about $15-$20 on average per person

We arrived a little early, so they told us we could sit at the bar & have a drink. We sat there for 15+ minutes & the girl getting things ready for the bar totally ignored us. Right before we were seated someone else took our drink order & said she'd bring them to the table. Hubby got a beer & I got a Tito's & cranberry juice. We ordered an appetizer. While we were waiting they sat another 4 with us. We all expected dinner & a "show", but none of us expected the show we got. One of the staff started screaming at another staff member. We had no idea what the female staff member was saying since her words were not in English. She was so loud & screaming in the bar area so the entire restaurant could hear her. A couple of staff members tried to claim her dow. This went on for several minutes. It was crazy. All us customers were silent & just looking at the girl screaming & yelling. The next thing we know, round two. It was unbelievable. What was even crazier was they didn't send the staff member home! No one came over & said a word. No one apologized or said anything. After all of this, they sat couple with us. Finally the chef came to the table. By this time it was 20 til 6:00. Hubby got the filet with fried rice. I got the shrimp with fried rice. The food was good. However, hubby's steak was over cooked. Thankfully, hubby told the chef he wanted to change the steak from medium to medium rare, or it would have been even more over cooked. I also watch all of the employees but one prepping the food without gloves. This used to be our go to place for, but now with all this issues this time, we will probably have to find a new place.

The restaurant is fairly large, and seems like a lot of people like coming here for family/friend dinners. Like the name insists, the teppanyaki is the way to go. Their menu isn't that large, so it was pretty easy to make a decision. I opted for the filet mignon (rare) along with shrimp. Teppanyaki is really more of a show/experience, so the food comes out to you in sections (versus all at once like at a traditional restaurant). The filet was so soft, and was perfectly rare, and the shrimp was so good. I think in the future I'd eat a whole plate of shrimp. I also got to try the yakiniku, and that was also pretty good but very sweet. Their Boo Yah Ka roll was also pretty yummy. It's essentially a spring roll, but with some spice and citrus to it. I felt that the portion was good for a large meal, but my friend who got the chef's combo definitely had enough for leftovers.

If you're not into eating inside parts of animals, I would recommend getting the brisket or kalbi cuts. The Banchan (sides) were good too. They had fish cake, kimchi, pickled radish and cucumbers available. We also tried the tofu soup, steamed egg and corn cheese which all came out hot and tasted flavorful. This spot is a-la-carte, so you order off the menu and pay by items. My only downside is that they didn't have rice paper here since I don't really eat the white rice since it fills me up too quickly. Once we were finally greeted, we were told to wait "just a few minutes." That turned into another 10 minutes before we were seated. We intentionally chose seats in the middle of the hibachi table because we wanted to enjoy the chef's performance. Once seated, our server promptly took both our drink and dinner orders since we were already behind due to the delays. We thought things were finally moving in the right direction. Unfortunately, they weren't. About 35 minutes after we were seated, a host came over and asked us to move so another family could sit together. We reluctantly agreed, even though it was inconvenient. When I asked our server when the chef would begin cooking, she explained that we had to wait for the newly seated party to order. That is completely unacceptable. We made a reservation, arrived early, ordered immediately, and yet we were expected to sit there indefinitely because another party arrived later and hadn't even placed their order yet. Why should our experience be delayed because of someone else's schedule? To make matters worse, the children at the table were incredibly disruptive and disrespectful throughout the entire wait. When we politely mentioned it to the parents, the response we received was, "They're kids, let them do what they want." There was no consideration for anyone else trying to enjoy their meal or celebrate a special occasion. Staff never stepped in to address the situation. After waiting over an hour from our reservation time, we still had not received our drinks, no chef had started cooking, and no food had been served. At that point, we had enough. We got up and left. This wasn't just a disappointing dinner. It completely ruined my husband's birthday celebration. We chose Benihana because we expected a fun, memorable experience, and instead we left frustrated, hungry, and feeling like our time and special occasion meant nothing. This level of service is unacceptable, especially for a restaurant that requires reservations and markets itself as an experience. A reservation should actually mean something. I expect someone from management or the General Manager to contact me directly regarding this experience. An apology alone will not make up for a birthday celebration that cannot be recreated. Benihana needs to take responsibility for how poorly this entire evening was handled and explain what will be done to ensure other guests celebrating special occasions are not treated the same way.

The restaurant has a cute atmosphere, the music wasn't too loud, and they even had the FIFA World Cup on the TVs, which made for a fun place to sit and eat. If you order one of the sizzling plates, it comes with a bowl of miso soup. The miso was really good and didn't have that overly fishy flavor that some places have. We also tried the fried pork dumplings, which were pretty standard potstickers, but they were done well. The sweet and sour dipping sauce had just a tiny bit of spice that made it a little more interesting. The pork soup bao were another good choice, with plenty of filling and really good flavor. I ordered the Wagyu sizzling plate, and it was definitely the highlight of the meal. It comes out on an extremely hot plate, which gives some of the rice a nice crispy texture. Everything was cooked well, and the overall flavor was really good. The service was excellent too. There were two servers taking care of the dining room, and both were friendly, answered our questions, and stayed on top of refilling our water throughout the meal. Overall, this was a really enjoyable experience with good food, great service, and a fun atmosphere. I'd definitely come back and try more of the menu.

First, Sizzling House sits around a plethora of amazing food options in the Mesa Asian District. It is a small eatery and very casual. We started with the dumplings and karage. These were where the rating dropped. I didn't find anything memorable about either... My friend ordered the tokontsu ramen with think noodles. I had a taste, and while I'd order it if wanting ramen, this was what I expect of good ramen. It hit the right notes on taste and the noodle s were cooked well, just nothing that would make me perk up if someone wanted to get ramen. The highlight, which would have made this a debate between 4 and 5 stars, and which I will go back for (already excited!), was the sizzling Angus beef plate with thick udon noodles. This was one of the better dishes I have had of late, and I am glad I got extra beef and opted for the black pepper sauce. The thinly sliced beef with the thick udon noodles was a perfect pairing, and I ate this much faster than I meant to, not leaving any leftovers despite the add ons. Food came out quick. Staff was friendly.
