We went here for my brother's birthday dinner and had such a great time. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was fun and lively, and the staff seemed genuinely happy to be there. There must have been several birthdays being celebrated that night because we heard the birthday song quite a few times . I think my brother really enjoyed himself too, which made the night even better. Just a heads up -- it's definitely a lively, noisy place, so probably not the best choice if you're looking for a quiet dinner. Had a fun time here with friends. We were able to grab a table the same day for 4 on a Friday night which was cool. The reservation ran about 30 minutes over, but not complaining. Our chef was ok, I've had better before. The food was decent as usual, and the portions were large. I had such a fun experience at Osaka Japanese Steakhouse! My friends and I did the Teppanyaki experience and it was absolutely amazing. I ordered the shrimp and scallops, and everything was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The chefs made the whole experience really entertaining, and the atmosphere was lively and fun. Since we were celebrating my birthday, the staff surprised me by singing a birthday song, which made the night feel really special. They even brought out a dessert for me that was kind of like a maple tiramisu.... it was unique and so good! Very light and not too sweet. Overall, it was such a great dining experience with delicious food, great entertainment, and very thoughtful staff. First off, this really is a fun place to celebrate your birthday. Our server Cara was fantastic as well as the rest of the staff that day. The hosts are typical gen z kids who just don't really care if you're seated or not and just want to stare at their fingernails though. It's like you're bothering them when you check in. Expect to sit down later than your reservation if you go during a busy time frame. We got there for our reservation at 530 and sat down at 550? It's a bit out of their control as some guests are having a good time. I've got nothing against that! The food is good and fulfills the criteria for teppanyaki. We also got sashimi which was pretty good too. Portion sizes are very appropriate This location is cleaner than the one in Gilbert and has a nice atmosphere. This was a fun spot to celebrate a birthday with the family! This spot seems like it is a hot spot for birthday & similar celebrations. They have an assortment of regular menu items to order such as appetizers and sushi, or you can order teppanyaki and have it made on the grill right in front of you. Every teppanyaki plate comes with rice, some veggies, two shrimp plus your choice of meats along with a small salad and soup. I am not a huge fan of the dressing they use, so I didn't eat the salad but the soup was good despite being just a broth with two small mushrooms floating in it. My teppanyaki dish was delicious, the meat was cooked just right and I enjoy the sauce they serve with it. I do wish that the veggies had been cooked slightly more and they could use slightly bigger portions for the meats with how much each dish is. While I do understand that part of the cost of the meal is the entertainment from watching the chef cook, a bigger protein portion I think would help balance out the cost. Especially since most parties will typically type the chef as well before he leaves the table. Our table also had some of their sushi, spicy edamame and dumpling. All three dishes were enjoyable and I didn't have any issue with them. A family member of ours treated us to a dinner here for my husbands birthday & had mentioned to the staff that it was his birthday. At the end of our meal they brought over some small cakes, a big candle & a fun mask for my husband to wear while they played some loud drums and a happy birthday song. You'll frequently hear this through out your dinner as almost every table there had someone celebrating either a birthday or another event. The chef who did our teppanyaki had also made my husband a balloon headband to wear because it was his birthday & the chef liked his hair style. This spot is a little pricey per person for a meal, but to visit for a celebration or a once in a while thing I think it is worth it for the experience! I am not from here but a group of 12 family members went to celebrate a birthday.The ambiance was lively but it was little smoky. We ordered the meal for 2 for $59. We selected chicken, filet mignon and double shrimp. The food was amazing and shout out to our chef, "Oshi". For the birthday song, they have a head covering and sparkler on a dessert. It's so fun. We had a party of 8 for a birthday dinner. Food: For the most part, the food was consistent and very good, though we did have an exception which I'll explain later. We had steaks, fillets, seafood, chicken, and a non teppanyaki dish, Yaki soba. I do want to saw the water there tastes bad. They really should filter it. Service: The service was surprisingly a little off from what we've had previously. The teppanyaki show wasn't different, but the chef decided to put all the fat from everyone's steak into one person's plate, and it ended up being about 1/3 of their steak! There's no way the cook didn't know these huge pieces of fat weren't trimmed. One of the fat pieces was l larger than any of the cut pieces of meat. Once the food was served, we felt rushed to pay. I barely had time to look at the check when they expected me to pay which I'm not really used to. When I asked about this untrimmed fat on one of our plates, I was told that can happen with certain cuts of meat. Very disappointing for the person that was left with that. Ambiance: It's the typical fun, loud ambience you come to expect. Overall, I can't say I'd recommend it based on our service tonight, but most guests had no issues so if I could make a suggestion, if you're going there, and you're between steak and a fillet, go with the fillet for $3 more. It's delicious and you won't have to worry about getting stuck with a lot of inedible steak. read more

Let's just start off by saying I enjoy teppan food. I do not enjoy all the clanking of utensils. We had a large group at the teppan part of the restaurant. It's very loud so conversation is difficult. Constant happy birthday song going on, so definitely popular for birthday dinner. Eating area was not as clean as we prefer. Foodwise...killer fried rice. Chicken and steak could use more seasoning. The majority of our group ordered medium rare steak and got medium well. Shrimp was decent but glad I didn't pay for the extra pieces. They cut the fat off the steak so if you want it you will need to make it clear to the ‍ It was my favorite part of the meal along with the fried rice. Veggies were pretty darn yummy. We chose to go to Osaka this particular day bc of my boyfriend's birthday. It was very busy for a Thursday night! They sat us down fairly quickly once the whole party arrived. We weren't asked right away for our drink order which was a little annoying but it was busy so we understood. Once we got our drinks (which took quite awhile to get), we continued to wait for the chef. We waited for almost an hour for him to begin! After asking the waiter how much longer until the chef arrived he was better with his communication bc no one said anything for a long time. The time issue was my biggest pet peeve here but once the chef arrived it was smooth sailing. The first drink I ordered was called lavender flowers or something like that. It was mid-probably a 4. The second drink I ordered was much better--mango margarita! The apps we ordered were the coconut fried shrimp which was pretty good. I'd give it a 6 and the edamame was yummy. The miso soup was very salty and did not enjoy, side salad ok. I really enjoyed the meat the most. I ordered the salmon and bf ordered the shrimp and chicken combo--I would come Back again for this meat! So tender and juicy and flavored just right. The rice was not bad but a little oily. The chef was quite interactive and we loved it when he would spray the sake directly into our mouths! My bf loved it when they sang the birthday song and had him put the mask on. It had a really fun atmosphere and everyone was having a good time laughing! They provided a delicious tiramisu cake at the end of the birthday song. We will be back! read more

This was the worst meal I do believe I have EVER had in my entire life. From start to finish. We have been going to Benihana's for 40 years and someone had recommended that we try Osaka. So we went tonight to celebrate my mom's birthday. The first vibe I got when entering the restaurant is a cheap casino in Vegas. I ordered the shrimp and scallops. The soup was mediocre, the salad dressing tasted like French dressing not a Japanese dressing. While we were eating the soup the chef came to start cooking, he sprayed the cooktop and the flames that ensued made me and my mom jump back, I felt like my face was on fire. He had raw seafood, steak and chicken all on the same platter. He didn't season any of it, just kept slathering it with some thick teriyaki type sauce. The shrimp was chewy and overcooked. I ate one scallop and the second one made me gag so bad I had to spit it back out into my hand. I have never eaten something that made me feel like I was going to vomit right there on my plate. I feel like I need to also mention the creepy big plastic doll heads. I thought they were for decoration but I noticed people were actually wearing them sitting at their tables. The other thing that totally turned me off was the bottle that the chef used to squirt oil or water or whatever on the grill had a lid on it that depicts a baby at a toilet urinating. So it looks like it is doing that on the food. That to me was so classless and just gross. I will never ever go back there. I'm so sorry we cheated on Benihana's. I feel tonight's dinner was a waste of $107!! read more

We came to celebrate two birthday's. They don't seat you unless your full party is present fyi. We all got teppanyaki and I think the $9 share plate charge is outrageous. It's almost like they give you less meat than a single order with the share plate. We got rice, veggies, soup and salad. The salad was super gross, with barely any dressing and what was there was so watered down it wasn't good. The lettuce was frozen. Service was great, from the cook to the waiter. This was an absolutely great Teppanyaki place with lots of space for lots of people. Two of us went and we're joined by additional party at three. The restaurant was absolutely packed. The food was absolutely delicious and abundance. Our waiter was excellent and very in tune to us. We shared the dinner for two and were able to pick for various proteins along with the other sides. We had the fillet mignon, the mahi-mahi shrimp and scallops. All of them were delicious. I'm giving them a four not for the food or our waiter just because as the evening died down, it seemed as though our chef was not doing the same things that we get witnessed at many of the other tables. We weren't able to be seated until our entire party was present. Once seated menus were dropped off and our drink orders were taken. We went last night had a 6pm reservation for 10 for the Tappanyaki chef. We were seated at 645. 45 minutes late no apologies nothing!!They were in such a hurry to get us out of the restaurant that there was zero interaction with the chef which is half of the fun and reason we go. This was also a birthday party for 2 of the 10 people in our party!!! We had a very similar experience on New Years eve!! We have been coming to this location for 10 years or more. The last two years the pour service has just gotten worse!! We will not be back.. We will make the drive to Benihanas in Chandler!!! Stay away from this liw quality restaurant.. When we made reservation here, we didn't know this was a hotspot for birthday celebrations. Every table had one or two birthday celebrations going on, so they would beat the drums and sing about every 10 minutes. Service was excellent; very well run restaurant. The food was delicious too. Lots of garlic, butter and seasonings. They give you dipping sauces for the protein, but I didn't use any. The seafood like lobster, shrimp, mahi mahi and scallops were really fresh. Good portion sizes too. The filet mignon was very tender; cooked medium rare just like we asked for. It does get smoky in there with grill and fire, so I don't recommend wearing your Sunday best. Some of the best fried rice I've ever had. The teppanyaki was good and entertaining. The only thing I didn't like was the bill.

I actually prefer Teharu sushi next door to be honest, but they have a nice atmosphere and slamming saki bombs is fun there.

As always, the food was on point. I got the chicken shrimp Teppanyaki no vegetables double rice. Always good food good crowd. Service was good as well. This is a fantastic teppanyaki place. We started with cocktails made by the friendly and talented bartender, Dylan. We tried the Poison Apple Martini with Apple whiskey and Apple schnapps, the Drunken Ghost (vanilla vodka and coconut rum) and a Gummy Bear shooter (can't recall what was in that one). . They were all yummy, but my favorite was the Poison Apple - which surprised me because I'm not a whiskey fan. The meat and rice from the grill were excellent. I essentially liked the garlic added to both (so, be warned, if you don't like garlic, let them know because they are very generous with the garlic). Yum! The show was entertaining. I've been to many teppanyaki restaurants in the east valley and this is my favorite. First, it's not a fancy atmosphere. It's nice but not classy. Fine with me. It's my kind of place. The chef always does a fun show. It's great for kids. Some are more entertaining than others but all are good. The food is outstanding. My go to is the teppanyaki with filet and scallops. Don't bother with regular steak. Pay a few extra dollars and get the filet. The scallops are always fluffy and full of flavor. The shrimp is also a good one. You also need to get a sake bomb. I prefer it with Kirin Light. The sake comes out hot and you get a 24 ounce bottle of beer. The restaurant also has an area where you can sit at a table and order plates and drinks. Also has a bar which is fun to sit at if you're waiting on a table. This place is frequently busy on weekends. Either go early or get a reservation. read more

My husband and I always go for the Osaka Dinner for Two--$49 for four protein choices, which is a great deal. I get the chicken and filet mignon, and he chooses shrimp and scallops. Everything is cooked perfectly right in front of you, and the fried rice is absolutely delicious--seriously, I could eat a whole plate of just that. They really go all out for birthdays with the drum, singing, and having the birthday guest wear a festive Chinese hat. It's super entertaining and makes the celebration feel special. Absolutely horrendous experience from the staff, atmosphere and all around disappointment. Come here if you want to be met with fake smiles, and an over congested waiting area where your children will get trampled on without a care from anyone around. My wife accidentally made a reservation for the next day instead of the night we went to come in. No big deal, but when going to leave and having my three year old in tow holding my hand a big man then turns around by the door which is over crowded on both sides and about tramples her over without an apology, to which I said could we please not block the door. I was then met with from another man blocking the door on the other side that " I didn't have to be such a dickhead". To make matters worse I get a phone call tonight at 10:00 pm asking to move my reservation tomorrow to another time. After working a 60 hr week and getting up at 2:30 today to get to work, I really didn't appreciate the phone call as I'm laying in bed with my wife for my reservation the NEXT day. I then get hung up on when I ask why they are calling me at 10:00 at night for a reservation next day, so I call back and ask to speak to a manager. The manager didn't want to get on the phone and speak with me, he instructed the hostess what to say to me which was pretty much do you want the reservation or not. In turn I then told the hostess that the manager needed to be put on the phone. Not a single apology, just caring about the reservation and saying that he can have me call the general manager tomorrow. To which I replied you can have the general manager call me, and it better be at a reasonable time. To then which I get hung up on AGAIN. 10/10 do not support this business whatever you do. I am a husband carrying the weight of a household of 6 in today's economy and busting my tail to ensure I can take care of my family and enjoy a night out with them. OSAKA BE BETTER. TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC BE BETTER. We settled for canes after being physically and mentally exhausted from the week, where I was at least met with a smile and quality service from a FAST FOOD RESTAURANT. How can a steakhouse be top tier and not care about customer relations? If the general manager doesn't offer any resolve, I will ensure the world knows about how me and my family were treated tonight. I have to give one star, if I could I would leave none. Update: General manager called me, turns out I was speaking with the owner last night who also couldn't care less about their actions and was told the hostess was new. Neither of them apologized, I hope that anyone who reads this and values local business as well as the people who put in the work to keep everyone's business's and homes supplied with power, water, and sewer choose to go somewhere else for dinner. I haven't tried the teppanyaki, but the dinner boxes they serve here are so great. For less than $20 you get rice, choice of entree, deep fried gyoza, shrimp tempura, California roll, salad, and miso soup. It's a great deal and the food is good quality and delicious. Their oysters with Uni and ikura was great too. Service was slow but we didn't mind. Ambience isn't anything special but trust me the dinner boxes are wonderful. Definitely give it a try. read more

We made reservations for Nov. 30 to use my birthday coupon for $25.00. After we sat down, I gave the server my printed coupon and license. She informed me that the birthdays didn't match(the actual day, not the month). I have used the coupon they send me during my birthday month since Osaka opened. I have never had this happen. I didn't even know there was an actual day date on the coupon.? I am sure when I signed up, I gave them the correct birthday date. We questioned her on it since we have never had an issue before. She said they were having a lot of fake accts made and can't be do anything about it. She didn't seem to even want to ask anyone, so we left. Unfortunately, I will not be back. Benihana it is not! Sure, the prices are more reasonable. But you're also paying less for bland rice, under-seasoned meat and OH! Don't forget the headache you'll leave with from the stupid drum they bang every two minutes for someone's birthday. I should have tampered my expectations when the soup came in an ice cold bowl and had zero flavor. I should have tempered them again when instead of separating everyone's order, they lumped all the chicken together and just free based portion sizes. In all, a fairly low priced teppanyaki meal where the drum noise was the only thing worse than the flavorless food. You get what you pay for, I suppose. read more
