Played here in the summer, wasn't sure I'd return only because the course was very dry and several areas were dirt. The staff was great, cart service was plenty, driving range ready for warmup, so my only 'iffy' was the course itself. The layout is fun, but the fairways, hmmm. I know the staff is working on refurb so I returned in January. Much nicer vs summer. Sure, some areas are still maturing, but I would say it went from a C/D grade to a B+ or A-, not a bad turnaround. Staff still some of the best around. Carts...GPS, coolers (get your ice from the bar), club and ball cleaners on cart (yay!). Good bang for the buck. Only drawback is we cant take the cart to the parking lot.

    Finished golfing, great view

Nice affordable place to golf, and there's definitely been improvements on the course. Definitely stop by the grill room if you come here, their chicken sandwich is amazing. Great family owned establishment.

    Just another dirt fairway.

I should have read the reviews. We paid $60 for this dump. Check-in was less than friendly. The tee boxes aren't manicured, they are just partial grass and dirt. The fairways are either dry dirt or broken sprinklers with standing water and mud. Some fairways have exposed electrical boxes. Some of the greens have large patches of dirt. The bunkers are not sand...they are dirt or overgrown grass. I didn't see rakes because why bother taking hard dirt? Good luck finding your ball in the rough. The facility looks abandoned with lack of furniture and green slime that should be ponds. Non-existent Marshalls to speed up play (but that's common most places). Only good thing was the newer golf carts (that you can't take to your car) and the golf cart staff.

Nice golf course with reasonable prices and decently maintained. Fairways are relatively open and a number of Interesting holes. Friendly pro shop and concessions

Love that kind of customer service. The check-in process was quick and easy and then it was off to the practice facilities. From the driving range, chipping area, which included well kept bunkers, and the putting green, it was incredible. Some of the nicer practice facilities I've seen. As for the course itself, it was in really good shape. Not gonna lie, not knowing the course, it chewed me up pretty good. People who knew the course definitely had the advantage that day. There are a ton of elevation changes, elevated tees, and the greens were quick. It took me a while, but I finally started rolling putts much better on the back nine. I would love to blame the course for my high score that day, but I know better. Lol. In full transparency, at times a few holes felt gimmicky, but I think that just comes down to my own personal preference. It's an expensive golf course but you are getting a quality golf experience when playing at Journey. The GPS on our cart did not work for the front nine which was a bummer, but when we made the turn, they happily traded carts for us and got us up and running. The staff really did make this course stand out. I'd be happy to play there again.

We came on a Tuesday for a 9:20 AM tee time and the course was busy already. However, we teed off right on time and, because it was our first time, probably played a slower round but still finished under 4 and half hours with no one in front of us. If you are new, it is helpful to have at least seen the course map to get a general idea of where to go as this is a course with three different 9s. We played creek and Stonehouse and they were both solid. The course was in nice condition and it seem like someone pissed off the superintendent of the course because the greens were fast and it seemed like every hole was on a slope With a cart, the round was roughly a hundred bucks a person which, seems to match the going rate these days to play a round of golf. This was with a seperate cart fee so that's something to be mindful about. This is a course I have passed by on the 15 for years and I'm glad I had a chance to play it. Definitely worth checking out at least once.

I brought my 4-year-old son with me to the course, planning for him to simply ride along and enjoy being outside while watching me play. To my surprise, I was told I would have to pay a spectator fee for him. Charging a fee for a four-year-old who isn't playing golf and is just spending time outdoors with a parent seems unreasonable. When I politely asked to speak with a manager, the front desk employee told me there wasn't one available. After I questioned the policy further, the General Manager, Dave Garner, suddenly appeared. That made it feel like I had been misled from the start. Unfortunately, my interaction with Dave Garner only made the situation worse. Rather than showing any understanding or attempting to find a reasonable solution, he simply repeated that the policy was the policy and claimed he had no discretion to make an exception. As the General Manager, I would expect at least some level of customer service, empathy, or willingness to work with a loyal customer. This wasn't just about the spectator fee--it was about the poor customer service, being told something that wasn't true, and the complete lack of flexibility or concern for the customer experience. It's disappointing that a golf course would rather turn away a family over a spectator fee for a preschooler than create a welcoming environment. There are plenty of golf courses that understand the value of introducing young children to the game and making families feel welcome. Unfortunately, this wasn't one of them.

I'm there with my 10 year old daughter 15 minutes prior and the old guy at the clubhouse counter goes, "Juniors play free during the week, but not on the weekends." Fair enough even though I didn't mention the price. I know from my past visits and online juniors are $10 off on the weekends though. I don't mention that. He says, "But I'm feeling generous today so I'll take $10 off." Okay so the cost it should be, not generosity. He doesn't give me a receipt. I check my bank account just to see what he charged. He charged me $58. The full price for 2 adults. It should have been $48 for my daughter and I at $29 for an adult and a junior at $10 less. But $58 to play The Colony, essentially an abandoned golf course that isn't maintained whatsoever to begin with. And then to have the workers be condescending and charge more than cost. That's theft and even worse that he tried to act like he was being generous. The other workers I've dealt with there have been cool and I dealt with the horrible conditions of the course cuz it's cheap and close. But I'll never go again after this. The cost to play is already a rip off, but to be overcharged on top of that is insane.
