What a terrible service call! I had a key that broke off my keyboard and a technician came to the house AFTER his designated 3 hour window. He was here less than 5 mins, told me to use Google to order a new key and then he left. The next day, I got an invoice for $187! They charged me a $62 fee for not paying at the time of the call (the service tech never asked me for payment) and then $125 for the 5 min. of "service." When I called back to protest this ridiculous invoice for 5 mins of time, they removed the $62 fee and took off $31 from the service call charge - What a crock to pay $95+ for a jerk to tell me to get on Google. When I made my appointment, I specifically asked for my computer to be fixed so that it would update Windows; it was failing to update. Never did tech address this issue while he was in my home. Instead he gave attention to everything else, "small beans" problems. He even tried to sell me on his virus protection. I listened to his sales pitch but then reminded him that Windows had its own virus protection and if only my computer would install the updates I'd benefit from those protections. I told him I'd consider the other anti-virus software he recommended and refocused him on the primary task at hand.  When I finally told him I was tired and needed him to go home (7:30 p.m.), he left a de-frag program running on my PC to make sure there was nothing obviously broken. This was something I could have done myself (and had already done), not the reason I called him. Of course the program he left detected no problem files on the machine. I initially called Karl's, instead of taking my PC to Best Buy as usual, in the hopes of getting personalized, prompt attention. When making the appointment I was told that the technician would arrive at my house at 2 p.m., not that he would arrive BETWEEN 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.--a three hour window. Tech arrived after 5:30 p.m. and not until I had already called the office at 4:30 p.m., wondering where the tech was. When he left at 7:30 p.m. I told him I was unhappy that he hadn't fixed the problem for which I called him and yet I was paying nearly $200. He told me he could fix it, guaranteed, with less than an hour's labor on another day. I told him I wasn't confident in his claim because of his performance that day, but with his insistence I scheduled an appointment with him for a few days later 3:00 p.m. I repeatedly told him he needed to be at my home at 3 p.m., no later. He promised he could make that happen. I believed him. At 3:35 I still hadn't heard from him. Thus, I called and cancelled my appointment with him. A few minutes later, after cancelling my appointment with the main office, I received a call from tech telling me he'd be at my home in 35 minutes. I reminded him of his promise to be at my home at 3 p.m. and said that because he didn't keep that promise I cancelled the appointment. He never apologized. He just said, "O.k., thank you." I am very disappointed in the lack of professionalism, courtesy, and expertise displayed. read more

Their inexperienced tech, who had to watch a YouTube video while at my house to figure out how to open the back of my MacBook, broke my fan assembly while he was reinstalling it. At the end of the appointment I was told that the company had changed its mind, I owed them an additional $160.00 for Alex's time. BUYER BEWARE!!!! I can't believe the AWFUL experience I had with this company! WOW! They sent a tech to my home to 'repair' my MacBook laptop screen. The tech was a total idiot. He took the bottom of the laptop off and couldn't get it back together! He then ended up stripping the screws and screw holes, and left my laptop with the screws literally HALFWAY out! And worse than that he didn't even fix the problem he came for! Extremely dissatisfied with their "professionalism". My laptop was left worse than when the tech started (photos to prove it). I am now having to pay big bucks to Apple to correct not only the original problem I had but also the damages the tech did to my MacBook. This after rendering a worthless service charges of $159 to this business for literally NOTHING. And, what's worse than that, I reached out several times via phone and email and have had ZERO responses! WOW. If I could rate this company no stars I would. This company is a total waste of money. Jason was tech that came to fix problems we had on 2 computers of which he did not fix either one. Desktop had a email issue and laptop would not boot up. Was told there were too many emails saved on desktop and if they were cleaned out it would fix problem. It did not do anything but get rid of email I would like to still have. The laptop we were told it needed a new motherboard. Turns out after using different repair services desktop just needed pop setting turned off and laptop needed a new battery. This tech does not know what the hell he is doing! The keyboard on my laptop was hosed. Wouldn't type some letters when I hit them so I bought a keyboard replacement online thinking I could replace it myself. The laptop, an older Sony Vaio, required taking every component out in order to get to the keyboard - not the newer ones where you just pop out the keyboard from the front...I was stuck because the procedure to remove the solid state drive, DVD Drive, Motherboard, etc. was dizzyingly complex. I called Karls. They scheduled a time to stop by my office and replace the keyboard. Mr. Nelson showed up on time, Covid-ready, and got the job done. After work, I noticed that the space bar wasn't as responsive as I thought it should be. Mr. Nelson returned and made the space bar's responsiveness more to my liking. The follow up call was free and now I have a perfectly working laptop again. These folks were great. I now know who to call when I have problems with all my PCs. read more

I've been meaning to Yelp this terrible company for over a year. We moved here to Arizona the summer of 2020 and we needed our iMacs set up asap. My Mac Mini is hooked up to a large Wacom tablet, but the screen wouldn't turn on. I was super busy and didn't have the time to mess with computer so I called this company for assistance. The guy who came over was a bit arrogant but whatever... Anyway, he pressed the computer power button and the computer fired right up. OK, my bad. I wish I had read the reviews before hiring this hack business. What should have been an easy fix took two hours, and the problem was only half solved. Files were downloaded onto my computer without consent. A USB drive was inserted; I don't know if it was adding something or extracting something. ZERO communication. Technician spent 2 hrs diagnosing the problem. He didn't fix the problem, but told me what parts to buy. After he left, my system had no audio (Which was working fine when I placed the service call). Called 10 minutes after he left, but it took 3 more calls and 35 minutes for the tech to call me back and tell me how to fix the problem he created on my system. (btw, his 'fix' over the phone did not restore audio to my system.) D- customer service; now I am not so sure about the diagnosis either. Guess I need a 2nd opinion? And, I'm out $200+! read more

I called to instal 2 gpu inside my pc, the technician stayed for 3 hrs and did nothing, I asked him to update the bios, he didn't, said you don't need to, I asked if the gpu is seen by pc, he said no. After 3 hrs he said May be you need another kind of cpu!!! I don't think it needed 3 hrs to say that!!! so I was charged for 3 hrs and got zero done, my issue is the same. I had an appointment, in which the tech person came out and said I needed to order an external hard drive and gave me the instructions to order the drive and then he would come back. I requested the information on the drive to order several times within a 2 week period and couldn't get the company to schedule me the next appointment to actually do the work. Finally I was assigned another person and three days in a row after rearranging my schedule to fit the window time of the tech to not be on my computer or to be at home, they cancelled. They will not refund me for service that was not provided. They kept trying to reschedule me. When you pay for a service and that service is not provided, the company should give a refund. NOPE. I thought I was working with a local company but it's really some dude out of Arizona (the guy in the picture with the baby) but the truth is he has a horrible reputation, as you can see from the reviews below. Stay away. SCAM SCAM SCAM. They charge by the hour and spend their time downloading slow programs and fake taking notes on their phone to build up time. (I accidentally saw an email on the techs phone from the "boss" telling them to do that. The tech has no idea what he's doing and has to Google things and watch videos to figure it out. (On your dime btw!). After a while I told the guy to leave. My computer is still exactly the same. It's not fixed. And I'm out $200. I called the company up to speak about all of this and they said they would have someone get back to me. Which never happened. Now I'm disputing the case with my credit card company because the company and the service is all a giant scam. I recorded my interaction with the guy who came to my house that proves how much of a scam this company is. He basically said outright that the company goes under a million different names and they just get hired from Craig's list. 11/13 Very disappointed in the tech sent to my home by Karl's Technology in the DFW, TX area. I contracted to have a new computer set up and get files etc. transferred from my old computer to a new one and have my emails set up. The tech arrived and I told him I needed my emails transferred to the new computer. He said that they could not be transferred - lie! I had an att.net and a sbcglobal.net email. He told me that he did not know how to set up the att.net account. He said he set up the sbcglobal account but none of the emails were there. He said the would take a little bit for the emails to populate - lie. Six days later, there are no emails in the account. I asked him to transfer some programs like virus protection and he said that was against the law - lie. I had an older laptop in XP operating system and asked him to transfer some files from it and he said that it was impossible - lie. The tech seemed like he had to be somewhere else rather than discuss some concerns. It would have been better for the tech to just say that he did not know how to do stuff rather than lie about it. No one from Karl's followed up to see how the tech had performed so I guess they do not really care about quality control. read more

I set an appointment and later they called an said they couldn't make the appointment. I get a call from one of their service techs telling me that he was on the way to my house to do the work. A few days later I start getting calls from them demanding a missed appointment fee of $125.00 which I never agreed to. This is some type of scam it seems to me and I will be suing for harassment and assassination of character because they are treating my credit with a collection fee. This company has sent me to collections for $125 service fee for a missed appt. The tech arrived at my home knocking loudly and ringing the bell while looking into the windows. My 17 yr old kid was home alone as I was running late. She called and said she was scared to open the door for him as he had begun yelling saying he knew she was there!!!! She was scared! I told her screw that, do not open the door. So I was charged a full service fee for not answering the door. Now threatening to ruin my credit. I feel totally scammed. The website I started with didn't say anything about "Karls Technology" it was a local to my city computer repair website: Palm Harbor Computer Repair. Then come to find out it's actually Karls Technology. They sent out a 19 year old kid, Ryan, who had no idea what he was doing. First he arrived at 11:15am or thereabouts. I was told he would be here from 9 - 12. It was not stated that his arrival time was between 9 - 12, so I got the idea that he would be here at 9am, and could stay for up to 12pm. I had another appointment at 12:30 so I needed him to be here earlier and leave before my meeting. Secondly, he went to the wrong address and called me with an attitude about going to the wrong address as if I gave them the wrong address. Do you think I would give out the wrong address for my own home? He did not have a customer service attitude or way of communicating. Why not just say: "I'm sorry it appears I'm at the wrong address, can you give me the correct house #?" He also had no idea that I had more than 1 computer or device that I needed fixed which I mentioned to the person that I spoke to on the phone originally. He acted surprised and bothered by that. When I asked him what he was going to do or what his process was to figure out the problem he didn't know how to answer me, so he said nothing. He sat in front of my computer and started "fixing it" but the whole time he was texting with somebody at the "help desk" because he had no idea what he was doing. After a few minutes I asked him what he was doing and he said he was using some flash-drive in my computer to see if he could find out what was wrong with the drive. In the meantime I found Karls Technology here on yelp and all of the other reviews similar to mine. If I had known the company I was dealing with was Karl's Technology, I wouldn't have invited them into my home. He did not fix anything within the 20 minutes or so that he was here and I asked him to leave. He stood there texting with "corporate" and I had to tell him to "Please leave my home. We are done here. I need you to leave." Then he stayed outside on my street for quite awhile still texting with corporate. I'm very disappointed with the service of this company; I own a gaming computer and my intention was to overclock the computer to improve the performance of the machine, after $190 in charges and a system crash caused by the tech, I've decided that youtube tutorials provided more benefit. Pros- Cordial tech was a delight to speak with very pleasant. Cons- No value added whatsoever, we spent an hour and a half in 'trial and error' attempts to review the system; after a few crashes the tech gave up and just returned the computer to default settings. I've since gone through several free instructional videos on how to overclock my computer and performed what I requested successfully. read more
