One of the better pour overs we've had, high praise from my partner who used to roast his own beans and has historically disappointed with a great many pour overs, even from highly rated places all over the West Coast. MATCHA LATTE: 5/5. As an OC girly with no shortage of incredible matcha spots at my disposal, I was pleasantly surprised. Matcha forward, not too sweet, with a velvety mouthfeel. VANILLA LATTE: 5/5. Ordered an iced matcha latte at Temple Coffee Roasters and honestly, my first impression was that it tasted more like matcha milk than an actual matcha latte. The drink was very milk-heavy with only a faint matcha flavor, so I couldn't really tell what quality matcha was being used. At $8.50, I was pretty sticker shocked -- especially for Sacramento. Even a lot of cafés in Los Angeles don't charge that much for a standard iced matcha latte. That said, I did work up the courage to bring the drink back and ask if they could add more matcha, and the barista was incredibly kind and accommodating about it. It still did not have a strong matcha flavor, but the customer service genuinely turned the experience around for me. No shade to the business overall -- Temple has been around for a long time and is clearly well-loved for their coffee program and lattes. I just personally wish the matcha flavor had been stronger from the start, especially at that price point. read more

Today I stopped by Temple Coffee Roasters with my puppy Bailey to sit out on the patio The patio was super cute with the red umbrellas and overall just had a really aesthetic vibe. It's on the corner of a major intersection so it was definitely busy, and parking was a little limited when we went. The staff were really nice and patient with my dog, and even though the line looked long outside, everything moved pretty quickly. I was able to order and get my pastry and matcha fast which was nice. They were also really dog friendly and brought Bailey a water bowl plus a pup cup which she loved. I tried the new Sunny Side Matcha and honestly really liked it -- creamy, refreshing, and not too sweet. I also got the cinnamon raisin cinnamon roll. It wasn't really my favorite since it wasn't heated up and they don't have an oven to warm pastries, but it was still fun to try. My best friend first introduced me to Temple when she moved up to Sac. Since then, when I visit her we occasionally visit Temple. After a busy day and before our evening event, we were in need of caffeine. Cue reliable Temple for the fix! This location of Temple is spacious and minimalistic. Decor and merch display the space, plenty of tables to sit and work at, and a nice flow of customers. Temple is a watering hole for a reason. The staff were friendly and the drinks are consistent. Definitely a good spot for friends or to work at. I got the Chai Crème which they used a dairy-free substitute (coconut). It was phenomenal. Super creamy, hint of coconut, and a nice spiced sweetness. My only thing is it came in such a small cup! I wish I got more because I could keep drinking it. My best friend enjoyed her drink as well. The Ginger Snap Latte is one of my favorite seasonal drinks and an annual reminder of the changing seasons. Met up with some friends at this coffee shop, I'd never been before, mostly because I'm not a coffee drinker. But I have discovered a soft spot for a good chai latte lately, so I figured, why not? First off, the place was packed. Line out the door, and the parking situation was a nightmare. We stuck it out since some of the group was already there, and luckily found a parking spot a bit down the street. Inside was bigger than I expected and had a nice vibe. We grabbed seats out on the patio, which was super cute and comfortable. I ordered a chai latte with vanilla and cinnamon on top, it was delicious and totally hit the spot. I had an appointment in the plaza where this Temple Coffee location is, so I decided to stop by and grab a quick drink beforehand. Since moving to the Sacramento area last year, I've heard so much about Temple Coffee and knew it was something I eventually wanted to try. I expected a long line (possibly even out the door), but luckily it wasn't too bad when I arrived. I made sure to get there early enough so I wouldn't be rushed before my appointment, which worked out perfectly. I ordered an iced chai with soy milk. I was initially interested in the chai crema from their winter specials, but after the barista explained it more, it wasn't quite what I had imagined. She was super helpful and offered recommendations to customize an iced chai to be similar to the chai crema instead. She was totally on point -- my drink turned out surprisingly tasty! The chai flavor was balanced really well, not overly sweet, and just the right strength. She also added a syrup (I can't remember the name), but it complemented the drink perfectly. My drink ended up being $9, which is pretty pricey to me, but I'm glad I finally got to try Temple Coffee and see what the hype was about. Temple is a super popular study spot, so it does get very busy. If you're looking for a quiet place, this probably isn't it--but if you don't mind the noise like I do, it's a great place to stay productive. My go-to orders are the iced vanilla latte with oat milk, the Enlightenment tea, and the almond croissant. Even when there's a line out the door, the service is always friendly and surprisingly fast. Another big plus is the hours--they open early and stay open later than most coffee shops. I love Temple and will definitely keep coming back for my favorites. read more

OK, so I love temple coffee I've had it a couple times recently. I became very addicted to it traded in my Starbucks and I've been at a temple every single day for the last 30 days do the math anyhow I have went to this one on Fairoaks a couple times and unfortunately each and every time they've disappointed they either messed up on my dream or forgot something I put the wrong garnish. I've gave them many opportunities and unfortunately it's just been a bust. Love the coffee, but the staff here is not great. Nobody personable. Everybody looks like they hate their job. I really hope they can turn this around and also I will say this location is always always packed. Parking is very difficult there. I hope to see better for this location in the future. I've been a fan of temple coffee since they first opened. I just learned that there's a location in the Carmichael area. They consistently have great coffee beverages. I enjoyed my Iced Matcha quite a bit although it was a tad on the sweet side. As it was the end of the day there weren't many bakery items remaining, but of course, my granddaughter managed to find something she wanted. Clean interior with some nice merchandise. read more

Honestly, I feel like there's no better coffee on earth than the dharma blend from temple. I live in San Jose and I get the beans here when I come to visit family because they are so good. The place inside is cute, but it kinda takes a while to get coffee. I stopped by Temple looking to try their summer menu (back in September). This location had very limited parking in a busy lot. I ended up finding a spot but had to walk a bit. Inside was PACKED. The line stretched to the entrance and there was no seating left. Luckily, I didn't plan on staying. It's a noisier atmosphere which is something to keep in mind if intending to work remotely there. I got the campfire sing along and it was delicious! It was the perfect amount of sweetness and coffeeness. They definitely know how to do seasonal flavors. Last time I came here I grabbed a couple coffees and pastries for myself and my ultrasound tech at Little Bellies close by. She was happy and said everything was really good. But for me having to circle around the parking lot three times to find a spot, not worth it. Service is always friendly, but the inside is usually full, but clean looking. I have been two times now and both times I enjoy going. I am not a coffee person so I get tea and I really enjoy the green tea. I would highly recommend this place if you are in no rush to go anywhere. They have free wifi so it is also really nice for us college student who just want so caffeine while we work on our home work. The atmosphere depends solely on the time of day you go if it's mid day it's alot more student and later into the night it's more of a mix of everything. When it comes to coffee out in the 'burbs (which is outside of the Midtown/Downtown grid in Sacramento), there aren't a whole lot of options. Especially when you're venturing out towards Arden, Carmichael, and beyond. You will find your typical Starbucks every few miles but not much else. This takes me to one of the seven "Temple Coffee Roasters" location; this one on the corner of Fair Oaks Blvd. and Munroe St. which is technically in the Arden-Arcade neighborhood of Sacramento. This particular location has been in operation dating back to early-2012 and has been very busy throughout its history. One major upside is their hours of operation being open for business 7 days a week from 6am-10pm. This makes it convenient for students, state workers, or anyone that has an odd schedule where you need that caffeine fix no matter what time of day or night it is. This is also a great location for working/studying as Wi-Fi speeds work surprisingly well and there are an abundance of power outlets to keep your devices charged. One major drawback of this location is the parking lot. It is not spacious at all and more often than not, it fills up to a point where you almost have to park far from the entrance before making your way inside. I arrived during the early afternoon of 12:00pm on Saturday 10/25/2023 and actually had to park a few businesses away. Once that was done, I made my way to the main entrance only to find myself in a very long line with at least 8 customers ahead of me. However, things moved quickly as I was able to order what I wanted. Since it was the heart of fall, I took advantage of their "Seasonal Special". I ended up choosing their "Gingersnap Latte". This consisted of house made ginger syrup combined with Temple's own espresso roast beans and topped with ginger whipped cream and chai sugar. I completed my drink order with a "Cheese Danish". I asked if the Danish could be warmed up and much to my surprise, they don't have any microwaves which I found quite interesting. I did receive my drink within 5 minutes which was a plus since this place was packed with customers. The drink itself was on point as the ginger flavor didn't overpower the taste of the espresso. This is something I would order again and again. The cheese Danish though was not very good. It was more of a strudel than anything else topped with confectionary sugar and very little of the cheese flavor. I would not get this again. All in all, "Temple Coffee Roasters" is a decent above average locally owned and operated coffee shop and probably one of Sacramento's best. If you stick with their drinks, you won't go wrong. The café has very nice seating with a homey vibe--super cozy and the seats are actually comfortable, which made it easy to settle in for a few hours of work. The iced vanilla latte was a solid 8.5/10, smooth and flavorful. We also tried the donut (8/10) and the pumpkin bread (7/10)--both tasty, though not mind-blowing. Still, definitely worth getting something to snack on while working or hanging out. The only downside is that there are little to no outlets, so it's not ideal if you're planning to plug in for a long session. That said, the atmosphere more than made up for it. Overall: 7/10. It had taste but the matcha flavor was stronger than I would've preferred. The location I went to was the one on Fair Oaks x Munroe. It's a very small coffee shop with very little parking as a reminder. Seating is also limited but overall, it's a cute little shop. When I saw the menu, there were fall drinks listed, and the Adventurer caught my eye because of the orange syrup in the drink. When I took my first sip, not only was the cream on top not flavored, but my coffee tasted like a regular cold brew with 0 hints of orange in it. I was so disappointed with my drink because all I wanted was a little orange coffee. Just a warning if you like sweet coffees, this place is not ideal.
