I've been to the J street location but opted to visit this location to also get some grocery shopping done. A lot of foot traffic from co-op customers so you do lose the service quality. No true engagement from the workers. A simple "hi" is what I experienced. No impact on my review. It's just how the environment plays out. Coffee is still great. I kept it simple with a cold brew. No complaints. What I like about this location is the upstairs eating so you're able to grab food/snacks elsewhere to enjoy with their coffee. The space was refreshing with a lot of different people. Okkkkkkk I start with the positive because Brian was so pleasant and made my blueberry matcha perfectly! It had just the right amount of sweet, creamy, with that little earthy matcha flavor. A cool and refreshing start to my in-office day! Now for the not so great part at Pachamama. I asked the employee, Maddie, if she could rinse off my reusable straw that had just fallen on the floor for my coffee tumbler. She reacted like I'd handed her something gross like poop and gave a full-on disgusted gesture. I handed it sideways so she didn't have to touch the top. I'm not sure but maybe rinsing personal items is against policy and totally fine if so, but the delivery was rude. I'm also not sure if she was upset because I interrupted her talking to a guy because he got all smiles even after the experience she didn't say I'm sorry for my reaction but either way, it wasn't the friendly experience I expect at the Co-op. Especially because she was so chatty with this guy who wasn't ordering coffee and was just standing there talking. This is exactly why I'll keep going to Temple next door where the service there is unmatched. Posting this hoping that others will have friendlier vibes. Update: Originally this was a one star review (which I almost never do) but the owner was incredibly helpful and reached out immediately. After explaining their policy on personal item concerning food safety standards and policy, I completely understood that and appreciated the thoughtfulness. I love Pachamama, I love that this coffee shop has a strong relationship with the coffee farmers and work directly with them. I've been to some of the other locations, and this was the first time being at the Co-Op one. When I was brousing the menu, I was greeted by a friendly barista. I was debating between the Dirty chai or Matcha, and she mentioned how good the Matcha is. I decided to try it with lavender. I waited a few minutes for my drink. The Iced Matcha Lavender Latte tasted amazing! The matcha has a strong bold (but smooth) flavor, and the Lavender tasting good as well. It tasted natural and not as syrupy which I love. Overall when shopping at Co-Op, I will definitely come back to try some of the other drinks! Would strongly recommend! Tip: They have seating up stairs and also have outdoor seating on the second floor as well. read more

With summer coming to an end (that was fast...), this feels like the perfect time to post this. The days are getting progressively shorter and the weather is getting cooler and cooler (goodbye, 105 degree weather!). And, not so coincidentally, the inevitable end to Pachamama's summer drink menu, which means even less usefulness for this if I don't get this out now! Because what good is it to write about all of the summer menu drinks we tried when they may not come back around for quite a while? Located inside the Natural Foods Co-op, this particular Pachamama is set-up more like a coffee counter inside of the market. However, as different as this one might be compared to their other outposts, it's not like the Starbucks counters you see inside of Safeway either, as the market does offer some seating and tables upstairs. As far as their menu goes, they have a decent array of baked goodies and their drink menu is solid, ranging from your typical drip coffee, espressos, and lattes to teas, interesting latte flavors, like lavender or Maple, and a couple of types of cold brews, which you can even get in a 64oz growler! What's more, their rotating seasonal menu adds a half dozen or so options that fit the season well (for the summer, at least). -- BLUEBERRY MATCHA This immediately stood out on their summer menu and it is SO GOOD. The matcha flavor is perfect, the consistency had a creamy-ish texture, and the blueberry flavor isn't overly assertive yet still adds a nice bit of fruity sweetness. Amazing. -- PEACHES & CREAM COLD BREW If you love peaches and cold brew, this is the drink for you. I never would've thought of combining the two, but it actually worked for the most part. The cold brew had a nice hit of caffeine and it was complemented well by the taste of the peach, though, the latter might have been a little too strong. -- COCONUT CREAM COLD BREW Pretty decent, but not quite as good as I had hoped for. While this still packed a decent punch of caffeine, the taste of the coconut cream wasn't all that strong, especially as the ice melted. -- MAPLE BROWN SUGAR COLD BREW Not as unique as their other specialty cold brews, but necessarily in a bad way. The maple brown sugar was more on the subtle side, as that molasses sort of element was light, but still enough to make this a slightly sweeter version of their regular cold brew. -- COLD BREW Considering all of the different cold brews we tried, it seemed appropriate to try their regular cold brew. It was a little more basic, but in a good way - it tasted exactly how a good cold brew should taste, which was exactly what I wanted when we got this. While none of the drinks we tried were bad by any measure, the one thing I will say is that, with the exception of the Blueberry Matcha, the photos of the drinks online looked very different from what we ended up getting. Granted, that's not an issue unique to Pachamama, but it still didn't help with how we set our expectations, as both the Peaches and Cream Cold Brew and the Coconut Cold Brew looked a whole lot creamier than how they were actually prepared. That being said, it's not going to deter me from potentially coming back in the future, especially if I'm already here to pick up something at the co-op. THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded up just because of how good the Blueberry Matcha tasted! read more

Great coffee and great service. I thought it was more expensive than comparable coffee shops but it's not out of realm of what I've paid. I also like that there's a lot of seating, be it counter-style seating. The main reason why I'm giving it a 3/5 is because the seating does not feel good at all. As someone with chronic back pain and who is fat, the chairs are 1) small and 2) not supportive for my back. I sat inside and my thighs were pressing against the small seat and it was uncomfortable. The outdoor seats don't really have much back support. I would go and pick up a drink here but wouldn't stay there. read more

I will not be going back here and it's all because of this $40 cup. I bought this because I told that I would get a discount on my latte (the 4 shot for the price of the 2 shot) which less than $1 discount but at this point it's the principle. I've been getting this latte almost everyday at the J street location. And started getting them at this midtown location (close to home) when I go to gym. Imagine my surprise when the midtown location informed me that I don't get a discount with the cup??? I asked them to double check b/c the J st location is still giving me the discount. Not only did the midtown inform me that they are not giving me the discount, the barista seemed annoyed that I asked again and served me a scalding hot latte. I went back in afternoon to ask for a manager to get some clarification about why to two locations have different policies and was told the manager was not available "in a meeting to be fair". So clearly, my BLACK business is not wanted at this place. It was extremely disappointing. I won't be back. My favorite grocery store and coffee shop brand in the Sac area both under one roof......very dangerou$ for me indeed. As much as I want to try more things at Pachamama I can't help but get the cardamom rose latte whenever it's seasonally available lol. It's such a great morning pick-me-up. I've had it at the East Sac location and this location doesn't miss on it as well. So soothing! I prefer it hot as the super airy milk froth on top complements really well with the flavorings. *pinky up* My sister got a cold brew. I'd say muuuch smoother and even fruitier than the one in East Sac. Very delicious. Kinda wanted to nab the cold brew from her but that wouldn't make me a good sis, would it? As for a minor negative, the cashier lady was a bit cold-shouldered. "I don't wanna be here" vibes. This Pachamama is pretty much a grab -and-go one, though there is a small communal seating area specifically provided by the Co-op that's tucked to the side that's opposite of the cashier counter. read more

3/2/2023: Finally, Pachamama is open for coffee! My last visit, the coffee shop was sadly closed after 11:00 AM. This visit, I decided ordering a peppermint mocha; however, to my utter dismay for a cup of peppermint mocha, I was egregiously shocked the coffee I ordered costed almost $8.00! During ALL my globetrotting throughout my life, I have NEVER paid almost $8.00 for ANY TYPE of coffee! Staff seems to be different often times so it's hard to have a favorite barista and with that, I've also been charged differently. For instance, sweetener for a matcha latte.. usually I don't get an extra charge. That's not always the case.. because I've gotten an extra $1 charge for it. And the drink isn't consistently the same.. which is odd me because they're measuring scoops, shots... Same milks.. sometimes hotter than others, foamier, but I don't think it should be that off on taste. But it has varied.. In addition to beverages, they have co-op pastries and merch. read more

I'll start off by saying I love pachamama coffee. I usually go to the one by j street but decided to try this one today. NEVER AGAIN! Received the worst customer service from Maddie! Walking in, the overall ambiance is good and I could see her being happy with her coworkers. However, as I try to place an order, you would think I had personally done something to offend her, as she had a gross attitude taking my order. Really off-putting coming from someone that works in customer service. This is the kind of service I would have expected from teenagers but from someone in their late 20s, it was surprising to say the least!! I really love pachamama, but this location sucks. The baristas here are so rude, unhelpful, and they act like you're bothering them when you order. The girls all have an attitude problem. 3 out of the 5 times i've been to this location they do not call out my drink; they just stand there and talk to eachother and ignore me completely. When I approach the register to order, they don't even say hello, they just stare. When I grab my coffee they just stare, not even a thanks have a nice day or see ya later. So rude. This is a convenient coffee shop located within the co-op, which also means that parking is shared with people going grocery shopping. There is a large parking structure next to the co-op, available for co-op shoppers. I ordered an oat milk matcha latte which was pretty standard and slightly pricey. The upside to Pachamana is that they do not charge for milk substitutes, which is great for lactose intolerant people. I've never had slow service from here, and they typically have 2 employees working behind the counter. They are located right after the co-op checkout area, and there is a nice patio and upstairs area where you can enjoy the coffee with others who might be eating. Overall, it feels like a convenient standard grocery store coffee shop with better tea/ coffee than a generic chain! read more

This Pachamama location has what the other two Sac locations are lacking - a variety of baked goods and pastries!! We have been here a handful of times since they opened in early March, and the baristas have definitely improved their process and efficiency- the flow seems much smoother now. We have always loved Pachamama coffee for the flavor profile and the specialty lattes that they come up with. Now we also get to enjoy the coffee with a yummy scone or muffin! We usually will take our drinks and snacks upstairs to the Co-op seating area. Also love that they do NOT charge for milk alternatives- I believe they may be the only coffee shop in the area that does this! Our staple drinks are the purple haze latte (lavender) and honey bear lattes- with oat milk and half sweet. I bought a four shot espresso coffee for my husband and my husband said it tasted like it was burnt. I brought it back to the co-op and I talked to the girls there and told them that they said well why did it take me two days to bring it back I said I'm disabled my husband's disabled, and the two young girls told me that they're not gonna refund or make another cup of coffee for my my disabled husband. We have been co-op owners for the last 30 years since the 80s and I feel that they need to learn some Customer Service skills they told me that I could've gotten the cup and brought it in from the garbage can Was very unprofessional and very loving the way they treated me and I paid seven dollars for the cuppa coffee and they told me well. The coffee - I normally get temple when I go to the coop, but I figured why not let's just try this since it would be more convenient. We got a cappuccino with oat milk. It was terrible. Customer service - Also terrible. Extremely unfriendly. We asked about the origin of the coffee and she seemed annoyed, didn't actually answer, and most likely had no idea what we were talking about now that I think about it. After we paid she just went to the back to do random stuff instead of make the coffee... my husband and I were just standing there confused as there was obviously no other customers that she was helping. I hate to give bad ratings but between the bad coffee and the unfriendly/annoyed attitude of the batista we decided that we will not be giving this another try even though we go to the coop multiple times a week. read more
