The atmosphere at Ten50 BBQ is fun and inviting. The cafeteria styling dinner is cool and almost nostalgic. We tried the chicken, ribs, pull pork, corn, yeast roll, slender slaw, baked beans, and the mac n cheese. The pulled pork, chicken, and yeast rolls were a solid 8.5/10. The texture of the ribs were great, but the flavor was a tad bland. However, the BBQ sauce they had completed them, making them a 9/10. Personally, I wouldn't get the slender slaw or mac n cheese again because the slaw was too acidic and the mac n cheese was far too sweet for my liking. If you like sweeter baked beans, then you're in luck. My total came over to a little over $45 which isn't bad for how much we ordered. Overall, it was a great first experience. Place is super good! I once came here every Friday for a month straight. Professional smoker units outside, the guys working the meat will give you any slice you want, try to ask for the fat from the brisket it always has the most smoky flavor in my opinion. Also don't forget to ask for the chicken torpedos I think they are better than the brisket torpedos, the baked potato is delicious with the brisket. I think most of the food here is pretty solid. The issue that I have with this place is it's very expensive for barbecue. I can get mediocre barbecue at Spring Creek for 20 bucks a person. This food was a notch above Spring Creek but dinner for 2 was 63.00. For that I got 4 ounces of brisket 3 ounces of sausage on my plate my wife got 3 ounces of pulled pork and 3 ounces of sausage on her plate. I bought a side of beans, onion rings, coleslaw and one beer. I think it's too pricey. read more

Ten50 Bbq is a Texas style barbecue restaurant from the founder of the original Chili's. It's no chain though, so don't expect below quality barbecue. Instead, you'll find a barbecue restaurant similar to Hard 8 with great service & atmosphere, and that's definitely a good thing. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - If you've ever been to Hard 8, you'll feel right at home. If not, then the first thing you'll experience is stacks of wood & a nice smell of smoke as you walk up. You'll walk past the barbecue puts and then up to where you place your order. The barbecue is placed into another holding pit, and your order is cut in front of you. But the real gem is inside. Once you get past the register, Ten 50 opens into a huge dining area with high ceilings. It reminds me of a smaller version of a ski lodge. It's clean, has plenty of large communal tables & even individual spots. And the mostly self-serve (more on this below) drink station is clean, wide, and has drinks on both sides to avoid crowding. It was so inviting we spent 3 hours total there between eating, hanging out with friends, & eating again. 1 Star. Service - The staff at Ten 50 are amazing. They'll start by walking you through the order process (by the pound). Your food is weighed & given a ticket for the cash register to ring you up. But...they are NOT strict on weight. Our order had tons of extra meat piled on after they printed the slip. We even went through the line twice because ribs weren't ready when we got there. They remembered us & said next time we could just put in another order without getting back in line. Also to make it up to us they doubled our order (1 lb. for 1/2 lb. price). After you get your meats you'll proceed inside to order sides a la cart, pay, & find a table. Once we sat, the staff asked us what we wanted to drink and proceeded to get our drinks for us! Again, they're service blew us away. 1 Star. Food - Ten 50 told Daniel Vaughn of Texas Monthly that his brisket is as good as Franklin's in Austin. Well, it's not, but then again there are NO PLACES in Dallas that are as good. The brisket is cut in about ¼ inch slices and has a nice amount of rub. In fact, I loved the rub, & and the part that has that piece of fat was as good as any place I've been. However, the other part of the brisket was a tad dry. In fact, I loved the rub on all the meats (brisket, chicken, ribs), but all three were on the dry side. Breakdown: Brisket - B+ : Great rub/bark with a nice smoke ring. Lean parts too dry Chicken - B- : Nice rub on skin. Dark meat ok but white way to dry & lacked smoke flavor Ribs - B : Great rub/bark, very tender but dry (see a theme?) These. The pickles tasted like a well marinated cucumber salad, except with more vinegar and a hint of lime. Because they're fresh, the pickles retain a little firmness but don't underestimate what the lime does to the flavor profile. Don't believe me? Try a Corona with & without the lime. You know I'm right. Overall I was very impressed for a barbecue restaurant that shoots for a higher volume. It's good but not great, but I left extremely satisfied. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. Let's be truthful here, the brisket is nowhere as good as Franklins, and you'll find better barbecue at other places in DFW. My experience was just okay. They have the same layout as Hard Eight. Pit outside, you get your meat by the pound. Sides are inside and pay at the end. I was meeting up with other people here for dinner and didn't want to eat much because BBQ is a heavy dinner for me. I just got a few chicken torpedoes, half a sausage, and a potato salad. They were all just okay. The sausage wasn't anything special and the torpedoes were good but nobody goes to a bbq place to specifically get jalapeños wrapped bacon with chicken inside. Between my friend and I, we shared the brisket, chicken torpedoes, and jalapeno & cheese sausage. Next, walk indoors and pick up your sides which is a la carte style. The food was just eh to me. Here's a breakdown: Brisket - looks like they pride themselves in using USDA grade beef. It was way too dry for our taste so we just drowned it in BBQ sauce (which is warm btw!) Chicken Torpedoes - nothing too special about these. They're bacon wrapped chicken stuff jalapenos. I should just make them at home. Jalapeno & Cheese Sausage - Pretty decent but definitely has a kick in the end We both enjoyed the cole slaw & potato salad. Okra is made to order.. and you get so much! They like to keep their okra pretty large. Not too bad. We were told the banana pudding was made from scratch every day so we were convinced to share one. It was basically all pudding... am I asking too much for real slices of banana? It wasn't anything special. The place is humongous and I enjoyed the ambience. As a certified BBQ judge, I'm very picky about these places. My Dallas coworkers told me this was a good place to check out, and it was solid. The meat is most important. I had the pork ribs and brisket: the ribs were very good, while the brisket was outstanding, with just the right amounts of flavor, moisture, and rub. Tasty sauce, but of course it didn't really need it. The pricing model by straight weight gives you flexibility to sample several meats. This was one of the more impressive BBQ places I've ever been in terms of ambiance, with a grand facility inside & out and a variety of delicious sides & desserts (I had fried okra and banana pudding). Service was consistently super friendly. I suppose all these things are why the total price was slightly more than I'm used to spending. read more

It got four stars because I was disappointed in the brisket and the ribs, the ribs are tender and flavorful but not what you expect and the brisket was just a real disappointment. I would given the brisket three stars, it just seems to have very little smoky flavor. OMG the filled brisket and chicken jalapeños are amazing as well as the pork chop they had the day I was there. The onion rings are amazing, the brisket beans were pretty good and the banana pudding was off the chart! The barbecue sauce is OK mild or spicy I still think the best barbecue sauce in the metroplex is papas barbecue but overall not bad. Make sure you put it on the side before you put it on your food. We ordered a turkey sandwich, brisket sandwich, fries and mac&cheese. Both meals came with a side of barbeque sauce. I choose the house barbeque. We placed the order at the to-go counter and proceeded to wait three times as long for our order as everyone else who was standing in the regular line. They even forgot to ring up part of our order. Just when we were ready to throw in the towel, we tasted the food. Everything was delicious! So good that this barbeque hater was wanting seconds. The turkey was delicious and the house barbeque sauce sealed the deal. Gah. So good. The food was so good that the next day I was craving it again. So round two. We decided to stay and eat inside. But, when we got the counter they were out of a lot of their meats. It was 230, so I was glad that they had any food at all. We ordered a brisket sandwich, mac&cheese, corn on the cob, ribs, fries and onion rings. So good. We went a little crazy with the food, but every thing was so good. This is the real deal. All I can say is wow! Incredible Brisket, great sides and I am not sure what the torpedo was, but if you have meat wrapped in a jalapeno then wrapped in bacon and smoke it, I will try it! Cool place, order your meats, then in assembly line fashion, you add your sides. At the end of the line is a good selection of soft drinks and craft beer. There is also a full bar adjacent to the food line in case you want a little something extra! Everything was fantastic. Great smells coming from a number of smokers as you drive up. Good start for me. Understand this location used to a large mens' clothing store and it was heavily remodeled for the restaurant.......it definitely was....you would never know what it was before. So if you have never been here before, be prepared to stand "outside" in line under a covered shelter right beside the smokers and order all your meats which will be cut and weighed right there in front of you. Prices are generally expressed by the 1/2 pound. Example: Brisket $9.00 for 1/2 Pound. You can of course get less than 1/2 pound.....but who would want to? Meats that Ten 50 BBQ offers include brisket (lean or fatty), sausage (mild or spicy), chopped pork barbecue, turkey, chicken and ribs. Meats are served on a plastic tray on top of wax paper. You walk inside and choose your sides. Sides include mac and cheese, beans, crunchy coleslaw, potato salad, etc. You can also grab a couple slices of white bread. Desserts vary, but tonight you had the choice of key lime pie or banana pudding. I choose mild sausage, chopped pork barbecue and "lean" brisket with crunchy coleslaw and a couple of slices of white bread. Dessert was banana pudding. Oh, and you can choose from two sauces; either standard or Carolina. Sausage and brisket were good, but the pork won the battle hands down. Juicy, flavorful with just a tad bit of sweetness and that delicious char chopped in with the rest of the meat. So good that no sauce is required. Sauces are both decent, but neither one was a particular favorite. Coleslaw is vinegar based so it is a little different than what I am used to; e.g. mayo/mustard based, but still decent. Dessert was also acceptable. Not the best banana pudding, but definitely passable. Great atmosphere within the restaurant with high ceilings, lots of wood and brick, tv's to watch. Biggest drawback is dropping $50.00 bucks for two of us, but the eating was indeed very good.......just can't swing $50.00 for barbecue on a regular basis. Ordered about 1/2 lb each of brisket, pulled pork and ribs, two brisket torpedoes, sides of two dinner rolls, mac n cheese, brisket beans, potato salad and key lime pie. Pulled pork, ribs and brisket torpedoes were all good but I felt they needed a little more flavor. Dinner rolls were very good. I think the butter had a sweetness to it. Mac n cheese was just okay. Brisket beans could be better if they drained the liquid. I didn't like the flavor of it and it felt more like eating soup than beans and brisket. Potato salad was very good. I'm not a sides person but this was a good side to order. Key lime pie was very, very good! So good that I almost purchased one for to-go. Barbecue sauce options are house sauce and Carolina sauce.
