Dealing with Tenant Planet is an excruciating experience! The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing! They sent me a rent increase, along with the new lease, on November 12, 2025. I'm sure someone slipped up and forgot, because it should've been sent to me sometime in September or October. My rent increase was to take effect on December 12, 3025. The addendum in the contract says that my old rent amount would remain until December 11,3025 and my new amount would be effective December 12, 3025. I called to get clarification on when December's rent would be due, she told me that I had until December 12, 2025. Well, December 4th they charged me a $150 late fee and $10.50 for rental insurance, which I already have and sent a copy three times! I called trying to get clarification and no one knows anything!!! They keep passing me off to people who tell me it's not their department! I'm so sick of dealing with this company!!! I've been renting this property since 2011, and unfortunately, this owner may loose me as a tenant. I can't take this! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!! Our experience with Tenant Planet was, without question, the worst renting experience we've ever had. From the very beginning, communication was inconsistent and often misleading. We were given incorrect information multiple times regarding our lease, payments, and move-out process. At one point, we were told conflicting things about whether last month's rent had been prepaid--something that should be very straightforward for any competent property manager. Maintenance was another major issue. Requests were either ignored or took an unreasonable amount of time to resolve. We went over 3 months without a working laundry unit, waited weeks for basic fixes like a dishwasher, and even dealt with delays just to get a laundry key from the HOA with little to no assistance from tenant planet. More concerning, there were serious habitability issues--including mold and multiple instances without hot water--that were never properly addressed in a timebound manner. Upon moving in, the unit was covered in mold (our lease said the owners would not be held responsible for mold). Upon moving out, they charged us hundreds of dollars for the mold- so they aren't liable for the mold but we are?? The move-out process is where things became blatantly unacceptable. Menahil and Anthony managed our moveout process and it was a complete mess. It took them weeks to even acknowledge we were moving out, then Anthony showed up on the wrong date for our move our inspection without any type of notice our apology. During our walkthrough, we were explicitly told that any charges would be minimal (roughly $300-$500) and that the unit was left in good condition. Based on that, we paid for a professional cleaning service as instructed. Despite this, we were later hit with nearly double that amount in vague and inflated charges for cleaning, paint, and minor repairs--completely contradicting what was communicated in person. Then came the handling of our security deposit. Under California law, it must be returned within 21 days. Not only was it sent late, but we were met with contradictory statements, deflection, and denial even when we provided proof of the actual deposit date. At one point, they claimed the deposit wasn't late despite clear evidence showing otherwise. Communication deteriorated into delayed responses and repeated avoidance of direct questions. What stands out most is the complete lack of accountability. Instead of addressing concerns transparently, we were met with excuses, shifting narratives, and a refusal to acknowledge clear discrepancies. If you are considering renting through this company, proceed with extreme caution. Document everything, take photos of the property at every stage, and do not rely on verbal assurances--they will not be honored. This company consistently demonstrated poor communication, questionable practices, and a disregard for tenant rights. Our unit specifically was 16911 Bluewater Ln. Huntington Beach, CA 92649. Menahil, Anthony, tenant planet and the owners of this unit you should all be ashamed of yourselves. read more

HORRIBLE company! Tenant Planet drags out maintenance and ignores residents! It took nearly 2 months for them to fix the A/C in the unit we moved into last summer. We spent the entirety of September sweltering, and I have a chronic pain condition which is exacerbated by heat. They didn't even give us a pool key to beat the heat, and they STILL haven't! In the first week, we found BLACK MOLD due to a leak under a bathroom sink and I woke up to a COCKROACH crawling on me on our 10th day in the residence. We can only HOPE that THOSE treatments are still working. They are now uncommunicative on my shorted dish washer. We're closing in on 3 weeks without it and the only information they're giving me is that there is a warranty dispute with their contractor who fixed it LAST time. *I* *DO* *NOT* *CARE* what needs to happen behind the scenes; just like the A/C, all I need is a working appliance! read more

As a leasing agent, Stephen has made sure to place good tenants for us. During move-outs, he helps to get the properties turned around quickly, and without breaking your wallet. As a Premier Client, we were assigned to a dedicated client support specialist, Maham. Since we have her direct line, it makes contacting TP with issues and support a lot easier. Maham is great at following up and making sure issues are resolved in a timely manner. Where do I start; Tenant Planet is HORRIBLE -- I am a current tenant at one of their properties and I advice future residents to stay away from properties managed by them or future homeowners to stay away from having their properties managed by them. this is so far the worst property management group for renters I've dealt with. we have been calling and emailing for over two months to get the prorated $1.2k rent amount back for moving out early and they've been flat out ignoring the emails and cycling the calls and dropping them. we were notified to move out with two months notice after we've caused zero issues with the apartment, paying rent on time, and even left the unit in a better condition than when we moved in. there is no way to get the money we are owed back as they refuse to follow up on emails and calls. I am attaching the photos that were taken during the move in inspections to show the horrendous condition of the apartment/not meeting the move in standards even for San Francisco apartments vs. when moved out we left the place spotless and in a better condition than before. Renters, run if you want to get your $ back after you move out. It's absolutely frustrating to have to waste more time chasing them to get this $ back. read more

Sucks for the tenant! Completely dissatisfied with Planet Tenant and I haven't even moved in yet and am already trying to figure out how to get away from them. Just horribly unaccountable. The hoops I am having to jump through due to the lack of actual property management are ludicrous and only serve to make me do the job of Planet Tenant and Meld. The whole experience, from being sandbagged on the rental price, to not having proper keys, to small repairs that should have been handled beforehand, to the circuitous maintenance system (where I was either ignored or asked to actually film a water leak???), to having to pay a fee to GIVE them your money, has been a disappointment and a disaster. read more

We are seniors, and in May, we needed to find qualified tenants for our daughter's home in Fremont. I thought companies like this wanted to continue managing the property, which we didn't need, with grandchildren to help us with this. I told her I was interested, but had sent messages to several places and wasn't ready to commit. She was fine with my answer and I promised to call her when my husband was out of the hospital. I was a little worried that a company headquartered in San Jose wouldn't be familiar enough with properties in Fremont...WRONG! After speaking to three other real estate leasing companies, I called Jessica back to handle the job, even though Tenant Planet was not the least expensive choice, I felt it was the best value. She is a dynamo and jumped into action immediately. I Liked every suggestion she made and was so grateful for her experience and dedication to her job. We met within a couple of days, discussed potential rent amounts, agreed on qualifications applicants must meet, completed all the paperwork online, and she posted the house on many rental sites...many I had never heard of. I was consulted every step of the way. She hoped for tenants to move in by June...and she succeeded...the interest was amazing! Jessica scheduled an Open House, where people signed up for available time slots, so it wasn't a mad-house, and many people filled out applications for our home. Jessica had a big job doing all the background checks! Again, I was so glad that we didn't have to do all the ground work or tell many people NO! We have absolutely wonderful tenants in our daughter's home now. They are everything we could ask for, and they are equally happy to have found a home that meets their needs. We have rented residential property in the past managing it ourselves over the last 40 years and we never in our best moments could match the service of Tenant Planet specifically working with this wonderful manager Stephen., We reached our goal in a matter of weeks. The property has been leased for the last year without any work concerns or stress on our part at all, with the rent deposited on exactly the same day each month, we are so very grateful. Stephen did a remarkable job in locating and identifying the tenant, and recently reached out for the next year's lease renewal. It's hard to believe that the income generated by this property takes almost no work on our part at all. I spoke with them about renting out property in the 94611 and received this response: "Unfortunately we will not be able to work with you on this because the agent is very familiar with the area, and she would not feel comfortable as she works alone most of the time". It seems like they do not know the East Bay well at all, or only rent out property in gated communities. Too bad really since the guy I spoke with (Jason) seemed really cool. Hopefully they learn some basic things like neighborhoods as their business grows in the area. Till then, it would be hard to trust their judgement as a landlord in the East Bay. read more

I've had a bad experience with this company from the beginning. They never cleaned the property prior to my move and left everything broken though i was promised that it would be handled considering there was 2 months before my move in date. I was told that because my rent is low, i shouldn't complain that things are broken. The people that work here are incredibly smug and unreliable when it comes to getting things done. I let them know of my intent to move out in Oct and they never processed anything then tried to stick it on me when the time came. I do not appreciate it at all. I decided to move out due to terrible management and their inability to follow through (among other things). I would be wary of leasing with them. read more

Poor communication, phone calls, email, etc with an rep. Talked to two others to switch reps with no luck. Then the Rep Said we had the place, they gave it to another tenant. This is an extremely unprofessional company. We scheduled an appointment to view a condo. Upon arrival, the door was open and there was no company representative on site. We were met by some random person who claimed that they were renting the place as of 4 days before that. The company representative, Pedro (sending my best wishes to him), wasn't able to say anything adequate over the phone. Don't deal with them. It's just waste of time. The best part of this story is that we were referred to this apartment by the apartment owner 2 days before that. So even if the lease signing story was true, the real owner of the apartment was not aware of that. read more
