Finally tried this place. We are vegan so had an iced vanilla latte (good), scone (best thing we got), and breakfast sandwich (wouldn't get again). Ordered a hashbrown for my kids and had to send it back. They make their own and I've never tasted something so horrible, had to spit it out. It was total cornstarch and really hard shreds of potato. When I brought this to the attention of the employee, he grabbed $ out of their jar for charity and tried to give to me. Thought that was really odd and did not take it. All the while I had to go to their bar to grab my food while the male employee (shorter skater "dude" wearing a Beenie) stood right there just watching me carry all these plates to my table lol. I paid $42 for two bfast sandwiches avocado toast and a lavender latte (which I actually really liked) the portions were so minimal. Sandwich's are the size of burger sliders. Twice we have been to this restaurant for breakfast and twice we have left without food because the staff wasn't ready. Each time we were told that they had had a "hectic" morning. On our last try, we could not even get coffee at 8:05 (they open at 8) because they were cleaning the coffee pots. We were offered cold brew. No thanks. Wow, this place is simply spectacular!!! I brought my parents this morning, who are meat-eaters, for the Sunday vegan brunch. Not only did both love their food, but my dad had no idea his scramble was made with JUST egg. The food is not only visually appealing but incredibly delicious and fresh. The coffee was superb as well. Customer service is great, the people working here seem to really enjoy their jobs! We also had the treat of hearing live music from a young duo, which was awesome. As lovers of old school music, my mom and I were thrilled at their set list and had a hard time leaving since every single song was so well picked and performed. Everything about this place from the vibrant and uplifting ambiance and decor to the food, is fantastic. Went today with a friend. I ordered the vegan tacos. She ordered a vegan pesto pizza and a beet salad. I got tacos after about 25 minutes but no silverware or napkins are to be found. Water glass was 4oz. So tiny! Then my friends food never came. 45 minutes later and watching the 3 guys behind the counter look at their phones, eat food themselves, and one of them had a nice long bathroom break, We decided to ask about her food and ask for a refund. Guy at counter who was on his phone the entire time we waited for her food. Looked and acted baffled the food never showed. Then continue to fumble while reimbursing her. Went there today because they serve vegan pastries. The gal at the register was really nice I ended up ordering the lavender latte -iced loved it not too sweet ... all the drinks automatically come with oat milk unless you ask specifically for coconut or almond milk. I got my daughter the vegan lemon poppy seed muffin... my daughter loved it ( it's hard to find pastries for my daughter because she's allergic to eggs and dairy) anywho my daughter didn't want to share with me .. but I took a bite anyways. This coffee place is amazing! It has a very ambient setting, with gentle music playing in the background. They have a back patio that is claimed as a "secret" garden. Very cute! The interior reminded my boyfriend and I of Marfa, Tx which is a place know for being expressive with art. I got the matcha tea latte and my boyfriend got the nitro cold brew. My tea was okay somewhat chalky and it didn't seem well mixed in, in my opinion. My boyfriend enjoyed his cold brew very much. We both got the spicy BBQ pizza, which was so amazing! Best almond milk latte I've had! Their coffee is so good, I've been drinking cheapie coffee for a month and finally got the stuff! They offer local Chico delivery of bags of coffee, and Friday they deliver beverages!! The cafe is adorable and the staff is friendly. Visited Tender Loving Coffee today for the first time and all I can say wow. Amazing atmosphere. Amazing food. Amazing coffee. I heard that their vegan food was really great so I thought I'd give it a try (mind you I'm a full fledged carnivore). This would be my first true vegan meal. I ordered the vegan chorizo tacos and I'm speechless. They were SO GOOD. Couldn't even tell they were vegan. The cook came over and explained the dish and it made it that much more special. The owner Heath is great and cares a lot about his coffee shop and about the experience of his customers (ask him about 'the door of enlightenment' you won't regret it). There was also live music and the decor and just overall vibe of the coffee house was just great. This is without a doubt my new favorite coffee house in town.
