    Onigiri
    Lisa Y.

Tenori is one of the food stalls located inside of Rodeo 39 Public Market. You order on the kiosk, and they will text you when your order is ready. Their entire menu pretty much consists of onigiri rice balls, but I believe they have a spicy ahi poke as well. Each onigiri is $4.00, but you can order a combo for 3 onigiri for $11.00. We got the Honey Walnut Shrimp, KBBQ, and Spicy Salmon. The Honey Walnut Shrimp has shrimp tempura, along with a honey lemon mayo, candied walnuts, bonito furikake, rice, and nori. The flavor in this one is more mild, and the breading mixed with the rice makes it a little more carb-heavy when you're eating it. I think I would have preferred it more without the tempura breading. The Spicy Salmon has broiled salmon, spicy kewpie mayo, bonito furikake, rice, and nori. And lastly, the KBBQ has beef, onions, house special garlic soy sauce, sesame seeds, bonito furikake, rice, and nori. The Spicy Salmon and KBBQ are a lot more flavorful than the Honey Walnut Shrimp, so I enjoyed these more.

OVERALL : I loooove getting onigiri whenever I'm feeling a snack / light meal. Something about rice and protein served in small portions just hits especially when you're out and about looking for a small snack that won't weigh you down too much. Tenori specializes in onigiri, which are rice balls filled with various proteins inside and wrapped with seaweed. Tenori also puts a delicious sweet and salty furikake on top that is so addicting and perfectly complements the rice! There's a self-order kiosk so I didn't interact w/ the staff, but it's just a casual spot for grab-and-go, so this was no biggie. PARKING : Inside the Rodeo 39 food hall so there's a big parking lot, but things can still get crowded during rushes so be prepared to circle for parking if going during peak hours / weekends. FOOD/DRINKS : Mentai - spicy cod roe, this was actually spicy and they were generous w/ the filling! Spicy Tuna - cooked tuna, spicy kewpie mayo -- not actually spicy but a classic, still yummy! Spicy Salmon - broiled salmon, spicy kewpie mayo -- not actually spicy but you can never go wrong with salmon and mayo combo!

SPICY SALMON KBBQ PORK BELLY HONEY SHRIMP

Tenori is a go to whenever I come to Rodeo 39. Their 3 for $11 deal is so worth it! It's a whole meal. Very generous with the amount of filling. We got spicy salmon, pork belly, kbbq, and honey shrimp. The spicy salmon is my favorite one. I think next time I will just get spicy salmon and try a different filling. The others are good too but the meat fillings weren't as good as the salmon. The honey shrimp was probably second best but the filling in that one was pretty small. There's not much to note on service. You order through a kiosk so there's not a lot of interaction. There are many restaurants at rodeo 39 so the line doesn't get very long. Wait is never long!

Cute spot for onigiri in Rodeo 39. We ordered the onigiri trio with the pork belly, spicy salmon, and KBBQ. Great as a little snack as you walk around. There is ample seating and parking in the lot.

First time here. Place was small and cute. I ordered the spicy ahi tuna, which wasn't spicy at all. Ahi was $9, Rice $3, spicy mayo $1. It's pretty expensive for the amount of food you get. It was filling, but still pricy. Food was delicious and the girl at the front was nice, but kind of quiet/shy

I tried the onigiri a few years ago and thought it was fine (the honey walnut shrimp was my fave of the three). Never really had a craving for them again. That said, I recently visited to try the ahi tuna poke. It's $9 for what they advertise as 1/4 lb of poke. NGL the portion was a lot smaller than I was expecting for the price. I saw another reviewer had ordered the poke with the $3 side of rice, and their portion of poke somehow looked more substantial than mine. The poke container looks deceptively big in the picture, but use the fork for scale, and keep in mind it's a single layer of poke. You'd get more bang for your buck by going to a place that specializes in poke because you'd get more scoops of protein plus rice/salad and lots of toppings for only a few bucks more. The poke here for $9 is honestly a ripoff and an overpriced snack at best. It's also not spicy at all despite being advertised as spicy ahi tuna poke.

Went on a Thursday night. Not busy at all. We did a few of the 3 for $11. Orders came out quickly. Kbbq. My second favorite Pork belly. My least favorite Salmon. My favorite I will try the other options next time. Would recommend!

I am a huge fan of onigiri's (rice balls wrapped in seaweed). So when we were in town checking out the Rodeo 39 public market, we just so happened to see a food vendor serving specialized onigiri's. Tenori is located in a nice area in Stanton inside the Rodeo 39 public market. Parking is easy and accessible in the large parking lot. We ordered 3 onigiri's, Pork Belly, Spam, and Spicy Salmon from Tenori. Everything was tasty and pleasing. I thought it was a great value price point for the 3 onigiris deal. The service was efficient and quick. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Tenori. If we are ever back in town or at the other locations, I definitely want to try the other onigiris.

What is special about "Tenori" ... As you buy onigiri or musubi in LA/OC, sometimes it's not made to order (It's been sitting around a while); sometimes they squeeze the rice too tightly; sometimes they don't have a lot of filling options. At Tenori, they always make the onigiri fresh. The rice is warm; the nori is dry and crisp; depending on the filling, the protein is appropriately warm or cool. My recommendation is to order the "3 for $11" offer, and try three different fillings. I admit it ... I have been busy, and I have not been to Rodeo 39 for almost 9 months. I was disappointed that some food vendors that I have patronized are no longer there. So, I was happy to see that "Tenori" is still open.

Mix and Match: Spicy Tuna, Salmon and Pork Belly.

Brought my nieces to Rodeo 39 and we decided to have some thing light to snack on . First time trying Tenori. We tried the Mix and Match, 3 for $11. Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon, Pork Belly and order another one on the side; Spam. Great flavor for all four. I love the Tuna! For those spice lovers, you'll need to add more. I would recommend trying this place and will try the others next time. Parking can be tough during peak times. Maybe avoid parking away from In-n-Out.

    Christy L.

I find myself ending up at Tenori almost every time I'm in town! I'm honestly not sure why but of all the onigiri spots I've been to, Tenori always takes first. I usually go for the 3 pack and mix it up each time depending on how I'm feeling. The KBBQ is probably my favorite. I've also tried Pork Belly, Mentaiko (spicy!), Honey Walnut Shrimp, all of which are amazing as well. You can place your order yourself from a kiosk and the food is served usually pretty quickly after that. Tenori is located inside Rodeo 39, a food hall with over a dozen other food options and plenty of seating. Parking can get tough when busy, but otherwise great location and vibe!

    Sari K.

Spicy salmon: Pretty good! Slightly spiced but not hot. Lots of salmon filing. Probably my favorite. Honey walnut prawn: This was super good too. Tastes like a good honey walnut shrimp and the breading wasn't soggy. It's a contender for favorite. Pork belly: Least favorite. The pork is pretty dry and the flavor is alright and a little on the smoky side. Lychee lemonade: Pretty good! Light and refreshing. Stronger lychee flavor at first with that sour lemonade punch at the end. Very interesting.

"Onigiri Bliss - Tenori Has Me Rice-ing to the Occasion!" If you're on a quest for the holy grail of onigiri, look no further than Tenori at Rodeo 39. These little rice bundles of joy are so good, I briefly considered writing them into my will. I went for the Honey Walnut Prawn, and let me tell you--crispy, not soggy, and just the right balance of sweet and savory. It's basically what shrimp tempura dreams of becoming when it grows up. Then there was the Spicy Salmon--delicious, but about as spicy as a rom-com on a Sunday afternoon. No worries though, because I came prepared: enter the black sauce and spicy mayo, a dynamic duo that should honestly have their own fan club. Pro tip: BUY THEM. Your taste buds will thank you. Ordering is a breeze with the kiosk system, and there's always a friendly staff member in case you get so excited about rice that you forget how technology works. And to keep things balanced, I paired my meal with their Organic Coconut Water--because hydration is key when you're about to inhale three onigiri like it's your last meal. Speaking of three, get the 3 for $11 deal--trust me, one is never enough, and two is just teasing yourself. Overall, Tenori is a 10/10 rice experience. Would I return? Absolutely. Would I consider getting a tattoo of their onigiri? Give me a few more visits.

It reminded us of a potato ball with kimchi and spam inside. We loved the texture and flavor, and the fried egg aioli it sat on top of was great as well Gochujang pork belly: We wished the pork belly was just a bit crispier. The flavor was fantastic though! And while I understand the mashed potatoes are part of the fusion aspect, my husband and I both agreed that it would've been more amazing with rice instead, hahah Miso bacon carbonara: The udon texture was perfectly al dente and had such good bounce. I loved how creamy the sauce was too. However, I just wanted it so badly to be spicy! Some spice to this dish would've made it a 5/5 in my opinion Strawberry lychee ice cream: Meh. Compared to the delicious appetizers and entrees, this ice cream was just lackluster. No particularly strong flavor (even accounting for the fact that lychee is generally a weak flavor) and the consistency was more icy than creamy. Considering the price point ($10) for a scoop, I'd definitely not recommend it There's a decent amount of tables and it has a cozy feel inside. It can definitely get loud though since the sound bounces inside, especially when there's large/loud parties. The service was impeccable and our server was so quick and attentive. It runs a tad pricy, but I do feel like the quality of the food and service justifies it (minus the ice cream, lol). Overall, we had a great first experience and this place is definitely worth visiting :)

I've had this place bookmarked for so long and am glad we got to finally try it! We came around 6:30pm on a weekend and surprisingly only waited about 10 minutes. It's a pretty small shop but very cozy, and there's also some seating outside. It looked like there were a lot of parties waiting as we left so we definitely came at a good time. We both got the chashu miso spicy tsukemen. I never usually finish ramen because it gets monotonous, but I slurped up every single noodle in this dish. The noodles were perfectly chewy and amazing when dipped into the rich, savory broth. I liked that there were the seaweed, garlic, and chili powder toppings at our table so we could customize the taste of our broth. They were very generous with the thick cuts if chashu, which were also perfectly seasoned. I honestly still think about this meal and hope I'm able to come back soon!

We ate here on a Sunday afternoon, and did have to wait about 20 minutes for tables to open up. Our group of 7 got split into two. Inside the shop is very cozy and has about 5 tables with a "bar" area for seating. I got the chashu red miso ramen, which was pretty good. The broth was very thick, and I enjoyed it. But it did taste overly salted to me. It was still good, but I would have water on the side when eating. All the toppings and meat were good as well. Customer service was good. They got our order while we were waiting for our table outside and the wait was not long once we sat down. Parking is tight in this little lot since it is shared with about 5 other shops. Not sure I'll be back, but if I do, I'll get something with lighter broth.

Salmon lover roll: Great for salmon lovers. Yellowtail Carpaccio: Succulent and clean. Otoro: Amazing price n melts. Definitely recommend this place as ive dined in multiple times with a clean environment and great service.

The vibes inside are nice and while it can get busy, the atmosphere inside the restaurant doesn't stop you from having a good time with a group of people. The restaurant is also spacious and you should look to get early to the restaurant if you're going on weekend nights as it can get busy 2. The food is delicious like their rolls and their sushi! I've had no complaints about the taste of their food. 3. Service is also nice and they are very attentive at serving you. Cons: I would recommend people to NEVER order takeout here. They charge you the same prices for their food as if you're eating indoors; however, the quantity they put into the containers is unforgivable. I've order the same rolls that I would get inside the restaurant with my fiancé (only 2) and it was quite numerous and we got full easily. I ordered 5 different rolls for my family to bring home to them and to treat my father especially for Father's Day weekend since he was craving it after a long week of work. I opened the containers to find like 5 pieces of a roll ordered (Salmon Love Roll) and the rest of my rolls had little quantity (half of the container was empty). I was pretty dumbfounded because how could you charge the price of a full set when my containers were barely filled with anything. You filled the rest of the containers with THE SAUCE CUPS. You can put the sauce cups on the side and put more in the actual container. Also, I had filled out that I needed utensils and napkins. I did not even get anything for that as well. In this economy atm, charging anything for those prices and giving us takeout service and quantity like this is pretty unforgivable. I've had other sushi places where I needed to save the rest for the next meal because they had given a lot, but definitely not here. I had rooted for this place when they reopened, but now I'm pretty disappointed.

They do this near the end of the month on Mondays. Unfortunately, this is their 3rd to last event as they're going to be doing some restructuring. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Drinks were flowing and the sashimi was non-stop. Nigiri and handrolls were also delicious and I ate until I was close to puking. It was super cool to be able to cut into the fresh fish from Mexico. It's definitely tougher than it looks. I always thought it would be easy to cut like butter, but definitely takes a lot of strength and skill. There were other tasty tuna dishes like the miso soup, salad and crispy tuna steak. I recommend sitting at the bar so you can see Chef Yamasaki cut the fish in the front row seats. It was cool to taste the varying levels of fatness of the fish. The super chutoro was practically butter. They also offered tuna to go at $50/lb. Definitely worth it. The venue is their regular restaurant but with more tables in the middle. A little loud but definitely a fun time. There were 3 birthdays too! We had ice cream mochi for dessert and there were strawberry cakes for the birthday girls. We averaged about $170 after tip and it was worth every penny.

The entire meal lasted 2.5 hours, and that was only because we ended it early and asked for the check. We ordered the Omakase Yamasaki for $69, and everything we received was amazing. The salad to start was great, and the fish was prepared perfectly. However, the pacing really took away from the experience. I'm not sure if they were understaffed, but the service was so slow that by the end we were exhausted and didn't even want to finish the meal. We also mentioned that my friend has a shellfish allergy, but a crab hand roll was still brought out. While it was very delicious, my friend couldn't eat it, and we chose to leave without a replacement because it would have taken another 20 minutes. The food was memorable, but the service and timing need improvement for the experience to match the quality of the food.
