I live about 2 miles from this restaurant so I was really hopeful that it would be good. I've tried it about 8 times over a 2-year period and I'm now convinced that it will always be a subpar restaurant. They do some things well. The tableside guacamole is great and the bar is beautiful and well stocked. Service was fine-- not great and not bad but fine. One of the biggest problems is the chips. They're borderline stale and they're greasy. The rest of the food is really, really mediocre, and the it's overpriced. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Southside is much larger and staff seems to gather in hallway on stools more than anything. I have been to Tequila's Town several times. Tonight will be my last. After ordering Margaritas my friend and I were left until our drinks were empty and still waiting to order food. After we flagged the waitress down and placed our order, we were brought our food and had nothing to drink. We again flagged someone down and requested some water. After we finished our meal and were in the process of paying the check, an employee came to our table and told us they had a 12 top and that we needed to move and we could talk at a different table. I told her we were about to leave. This is the third or fourth time my friends and I have been treated rudely and unprofessionally at this restaurant. We will not be back. read more

I also get either the Texanos arroz or piggy burritos and they are the BEST! Tequilas Town is our go-to for Mexican food. This has become my favorite Mexican restaurant. I absolutely love their Vegetable Burrito at an affordable $9.You better be hungry. This is a large burrito stuffed with spinach,zucchini,yellow squash , green pepper and onion. The Cilantro rice that comes with it is delicious. Personally I find it very filling. We started with Happy Hour drinks; $2 draft beer and $2 house margaritas. Happy hour is M-F from 11am till 6pm. Then we ordered the cocktel de cameron and it was AMAZING!! One of the Best Mexican Places we have been to, including ones in Mexico too. We had the Empanadas for appetizer and they were really large and very good I had the Oaxaco Fajita for dinner with beef, this is not your plain old fajitas everyone else has ,they include chorizo sausage crumbled up in the meat and they top it with Oaxaca Cheese a white cheese that has the stringiness of mozzarella but tastes like Monterey Jack. This all gets toasted in the broiler and comes out sizzling. It was great and I would go back just for it again. My wife had the street tacos three ways and they are not the ones we get at the fast food places and so much better. They are corn or flour tortillas filled with a choice of meats or vegetables like Steak, Chicken, Mushroom Calabacita ( yellow onions, green zucchini, yellow squash, queso fresco, and avocado slices , Barbacoa = Lamb , Shrimp Tacos, Rajas = roasted poblano pepper slices, yellow onion, avocado and queso fresco , Carnitas Taco = Shredded Beef, Al Pastor = Pork, She had a variety of them and they were all great tasting and each one was completely different tasting too. I had a sample of the Barbaco = Lamb and it was very good To drink she also go a Horchata which is sweet cinnamon rice milk and it was also very good and really something different to have on a drink menu. This review is for Tequila's Town downtown location, but I am sure that the problem I encountered there exists at the Sandfly location also. I have been a fan of TT for years--ever since they first opened downtown, my husband and I went there or picked up take-out at least 3 times per month. I love their food and margaritas! However, the last time I went there two weeks ago, with guests that I was taking to dinner, I was denied entry because I have a small service dog (not a therapy dog but a true medical assistance service dog). I have been to TT many times with this dog, and never had a problem. But on this visit, I was told that my documentation (which is accepted everywhere else, including on airlines) was insufficient. The manager was requiring a "ADA Certification" document--something that simply does not exist. (A quick review of the US Dept of Justice ADA website will prove me right; they even have a statement warning against "fake ADA certificates" that can be bought on the Internet). My friends were upset, so we went elsewhere for dinner (with the service dog--no problem!) I wrote to the owner the next day, explaining my loyalty as a customer of TT and the problem encountered the previous evening. I included quotes from the Dept of Justice ADA website regarding service animals to prove that if someone gives him an "ADA Certificate" that it is a fake. To date, I have received no reply from the owner, which I feel is both rude and unprofessional of him. So, this is a long story explaining why I cannot--and will not--go to Tequila Town, either location, ever again. I will not give my business to someone who discriminates illegally against the disabled when the law has been made clear to him. I also will not give my business to an owner who cannot be bothered to reply to a customer who had a negative experience, so I guess I'll be taking my desire for Mexican food to a more welcoming restaurant, of which there are many in Savannah. read more

So we went for dinner at Tequila's Town on a Sunday night at the end of summer. It was a late meal (around 8:45 pm) and the restaurant was pretty quiet. Maybe 5 other tables occupied. The service was fast. From the time we placed our orders it seemed like barely 5 minutes before the food was arriving. I had the pork carnitas which were tasty. But I tried a bite of the steak fajitas and they seemed even better -- I'll have to get those next time. Had a frozen margarita. Cold, tasty, and strong. What more could you ask for? The prices struck me as slightly higher than the nearby standby, Jalapeno's. And I did get the impression that the waiter was trying to upsell us a little on the margaritas and appetizers. But overall a nice experience. So time will tell which of these two restaurants will be our go-to neighborhood Mexican restaurant. read more

The bar staff was not very helpful to start. Took a long while to get a round of drinks. Then came the guacamole. Was really excited to try it and honestly it was not good. Lastly came the fajitas. However my last two visits I have been paired with the new waitress at Tequila Town is extremely rude to African Americans patrons. The first time ignored it thought that she had a bad day . However my trip today was horrible . She was was rude as usual , she brought my food and didn't even see if I needed anything before she walked off. The rest of my time there she ignored me up until I asked for the check. I observed that she was a lot more attentive and even introduced herself to the white patrons . Went to the one in town for a while, and then it seemed like the hassle of parking didn't outweighs the quality of the food anymore. Then we just stopped going all together. BUT, I meet some coworkers at THIS location, and I fell for Tequila Town all over again! I had the street tacos, steak, barbacoa, and carnitas. The carnitas was by far the best! We arrived tonight around 10:20 and were greeted at the door by a manager who quickly let us know they were closed. We said thank you and walked out. It seems that the only way to get good authentic Mexican food is to go to Texas, or Mexico. So let me explain why I had an issue with this place. First off, how does a establishment that serves alcohol close at 10pm? Sad part is that I dont drink!! I was in a group of 5 and not only did the server rush with the order, she got it wrong, missed items, and never checked on us. I only drank water, but do you think I could have a refill? When I asked for the refill she was bringing the check and told me I could have it in a to go cup. Then to stress disrespect, the moment the Restaurant closed, they started flickering the lights on and off as to tell everyone to get up and leave. That alone will absolutely ensure that they never have my business again. I was told the one downtown is much better, but itll be a whole before I give them my business.
