I eat lunch here twice a week and have done so for years. Obviously, I love it so I feel bad about taking this long to take the time to write the review that this business deserves. It is reasonably priced, tastes amazing, super fresh and is delivered by the hands of one of the hardest working small business owners I've ever met. The owner is an immigrant from Korea and demonstrates every time I see him what the American Dream looks like. We decided to try this place after hearing good thing about it. The restaurant is small but has some tables inside. The menu was simple: choose your protein and choose between plate/bowl/noodle. We ordered and paid at the cashier and the same guy cooked our food. - Chicken plate: chicken was tender & cooked perfectly but it was bland. The teriyaki sauce slathered on top was the flavoring for the protein. The portion was good regarding the price. The salad tasted fresh but the dressing was too much. - Beef bowl: the thinly sliced beef had a nice char but again, the meat was kinda bland. It seems like they put the teriyaki sauce to flavor the meat. They gave quite a big portion of rice underneath. The price was affordable for the portion. The meat was well cooked but it was bland. The other day I was in the Folsom area around dinner time and teriyaki was dinner choice. I pulled up a few spots and this one was close and new to me, so thought I'd give it a try. The location was EMPTY. There was a sign on the door indicating new hours, to be open on Sundays. I can understand why they'd need to add more open hours. Place was clean. it was just the owner from what I saw. Still has the plexiglass up, which is a bit of a turnoff under the situation of not needing it and it is not very inviting to newer customers. Not many options, but for a small location and looks very slow on business, no need to over extend themselves on more than the basics. I ordered the teriyaki chicken plate and bowl. The bowl was a lot of soup. I expected some broth but not nearly 3/4 of the bowl. I was thinking it would be the plate but with noodles and maybe a little broth. Now I know their bowl is actually soup. The plate was plated nicely, got the food to go. When I got into the plate, I was shocked to find a nice bed of sprouts under the chicken, to plop up the teriyaki chicken making it appear there was a decent amount of chicken. There was NOT. Very disappointing to start eating and find out half of the 'meat' are bean sprouts, which when coated with teriyaki sauce looks like chicken when glancing at it plus it was under the actual chicken. The owner appeared to not have spoken with anyone in awhile, as he was questioning/interrogating me about why I chose to try his place out. Had I know the food was not going to be good I would have made a much different choice. I chose this location because I had already had I Love Teriyaki and wanted to try something new, now I wish I had gone back to I love Teriyaki and will not make the mistake again, at least in choosing Teriyaki To Go. The teriyaki sauce has excellent flavor and is made on-site by proprietor/chef in a gigantic pot. If you are feeling spicy he adds some Siracha to the top of your bowl. It's nice that Folsom has a rice bowl place like this if you're craving something quick, cheap-ish, and filling. We went here late almost prior to closing. The owner (I'm assuming) was the only one working. He was very chatty but nice/friendly. He kept chatting as he made our food, which surprisingly was very fast and done sooner than i thought. I'm not a big chatter when meeting someone for the first time, so I could have been ok with silence as well. Especially since the topic was touchy (religion). But I digress. They have noodle bowls and rice bowls. You can select your meats to put in there. I was more of a fan of the noodle bowl than the rice bowl. I thought that the chicken teriyaki rice bowl would include vegetables of some kind, but it did not. Just white rice with the teriyaki chicken on top. The noodle bowl we ordered also had chicken, and the veggies were present, but minimal. I'm a big fan of veggies in my meat bowls, so if you're looking for that here, you may not get enough. I suppose you could also ask for more veggies (not sure if you would be charged more). Satisfied with the food in general. I'd return if I wanted a quick teriyaki noodle bowl. Since I tend to cook as well most days of the week, it's not something I'd return to again quickly, but think it's decent overall. read more
