Unfortunately, I did not have a positive experience. The risotto was bland, even with the addition of lobster and bureaus. I would not recommend this dish. Additionally, the frozen dessert was nothing to get excited about end the entire dinner felt overpriced for the quality. read more

A lovely restaurant in a great location. I'm all about supporting local businesses and NOT big corporate chains. I am especially pleased to see they support local artists by displaying their works in the the restaurant. It makes for a lovely atmosphere. I'm thinking about buying a piece from one of the artists whose work is hanging there now. I was very much taken by the works of Cheryl Goettemoeller. It's fun to look up the artist whilst enjoying wine from their nice wine list with the tuna tartare app. read more

After eating elswhere and having their Black Cod Risotto...which was mush...it made me appreciate my amazingly delicous Lobster Risotto from Terra e Mare. So GOOD, It was only about $4 more then the other restaurant but the quality!!!! Loved my dinner & my husband loved his octopus. Pricey but a worthwhile splurge. read more

We came here opening week. It's a really cute date spot. We were waiting for Terra to open up for months and were excited to try it out. I had the Bolognese and my bf had the Chimichurri Steak. we tried this restaurant again. was very disappointed. completely inedible. the pasta with porcini and black truffles has zero black truffles. zero truffle taste. the pasta was was all stuck together just a mess. could not eat it. we also ordered the ceasar which had very bad quality shaved parm. flavorless. the entire meal went in the trash and we ended up ordering from pizanna instead. if you want good pasta get it from la cava, or one of the many other great Italian restaurants. or go out to Madeo on Sunset. for the best pasta. but this place is terrible. never again! read more

Terra e Mare is not only a culinary delight, but the owner and the chef make this experience wonderful in so many ways, we rarely go elsewhere. The menu has a detail of variety that always suits my palate and even if I want to eat light; I can find it, if I need classic Italian, it's there, if I desire fish or seafood there is yummy choices. The owner, Steve has a phenomenal wine selection and has introduced us to new varietals on multiple visits. We also find the staff knowledgeable, friendly and professional. For me, I love the vibe of the patrons, because it's such of mix of people from all over, and I mean all over, Americans, Europeans and more. I feel like I have been somewhere international after a night there that satisfies my travel needs! Come and have an evening. Had dinner last night with some friends and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was great, we ordered multiple AntiPasta and Entree dishes and they all were excellent. The atmosphere was nice, (I could have a conversation and hear my friends), the service was great, and the owner Steve was really nice. Came to the table numerous times to make sure everything was good and we were enjoying the dinner. Happy to have a neighborhood place that I can go to and leave happy and satisfied. Waste of money and worse... This was the first time my husband and I tried TERR E MARE in Sherman Oaks. We were seated outside on the patio which was noisy but the worst part was that after ten minutes of dining I noticed how dirty the window sill next to us was by our table. There was lots of soot that no one had bothered to wipe down in what looked like months. My peet peeve is uncleanliness in restaurants, especially during Covid. No excuse for a dirty environment when you're dining! Tables were probably not distanced enough for compliance and no-one asked for vaccine cards. If the food was decent I might not have noticed but it was very BLAND and forgettable! The waiter was nice enough and this review is not about the service, but right out the gate, the presentation was sloppy. The butter was all mangled up as if it had been taken off someone else's plate. Bread was bad and the caprese salad featured completely dried out buffalo mozzarella cheese with almost no balsamic dressing and absolutely no seasoning. If you know you're serving dried out cheese, why not drizzle a little more on for moisture. As other reviewers have stated none of the food had any seasoning. The salmon was rudimentary and void of flavoring. The pea puree was about the size of a quarter and was enough for about four bites of salmon and not a drop more! That would be fine if the salmon had any flavor but it was bland. We ordered fries for some kind of satisfaction to spark the meal but they were greasy and not crispy! I told the waiter that I was bothered by the dirty window sill next to the table and he said that he'd tell the manager but the manager didn't bother to walk over. A couple of Thursdays ago my wife suggested that I go out for dinner alone. She just didn't feel like cooking. Great, I thought. I'll try that new French restaurant on Ventura Boulevard, Terra e Mare. Well, off I drove arrived at the restaurant and got a table. Then I discovered that Terra e Mare was Italian. OK, so it's going to be spaghetti and meatballs. When I had ordered a glass of wine from their extensive, by-the-glass wine list I perused the menu. Hey, no spaghetti and meatballs here. This was a high class joint. I ordered a dozen oysters followed by risotto. I followed that with a flan. Let me say right here that the courses were presented beautifully and the accompanying service was excellent. Now, as to the food. Just fabulous. This was not one of those quirky Ventura Boulevard restaurants that pop up in the San Fernando Valley. This was a real high class joint with great food and an ambiance to match. It's more of a steakhouse then an Italian pizza joint. The name says it all: Terra e Mare translates as meat and fish, or, to Americanize it, surf-and-turf. I went back a couple of weeks later. I got there before five. No problem, just sit down and read my book. A few minutes later the manager came by and I ordered a salad and the rack of lamb. Cooked to perfection. Also first rate lamb, not grade unknown. As to prices neither too high nor too low. I will return! My god trying to find quality in the Valley that is not burdened by ego and arrogance is so very rare. Also the waiters and waitresses are not actors, thank you, oh lord for that. read more

The food here is okay. The one star is the service. Our waiter seemed upset that we did not order beverages or dessert. When he dropped off our receipt he did not say anything to us. He couldn't be bothered to say thank you or have a good evening. Suffice to say, I won't be returning to a restaurant where you spend $300 and they don't care to thank you. read more

We are visiting family. This restaurant looked like a good choice on yelp so we tried it. There were 5 of us, none of us liked their entree, what are the odds. The fish was overdone and the sauce had no flavor, body or interest. The steak was tough, the pasta was lacked taste and the sauces were bland, tasteless. The service (Our waiter Tom) was on top of it great attitude informative and we were checked on by 3 different people making sure everything was OK. The food was delicious I had the oysters. Super fresh the tuna tartare also fresh, the octopus salad a absolute must to start for dinner I had the squid ink lobster ravioli everything about this dish was amazing and the grilled lobster (what can I say I love lobster) the lobster was cooked perfectly with some tasty grilled vegetables my wife had the gnocchi with lamb ragu was a touch bland but the pasta was cooked to perfection. The poor management at this establishment is what's holding back. The manager tonight was the worst dressed person in the restaurant and also the most clueless. My boyfriend and I were looking forward to having dinner here tonight for Valentine's Day. I made a reservation for dinner at 9:45, and when we arrived someone that appeared to be the manager on duty sat us with a slight attitude when we were merely looking for a warm table (it's a cold windy night). The waiter dressed the table with silverware and left without turning on the heater or leaving menus. We had to ask twice to have the heaters turned on. He left after turning on the heater and never returned. We waited for 30 minutes (which is way too long to wait on a night where you aren't busy) before deciding to leave and go elsewhere. They didn't seem to care at all. Before coming here, we checked out a few reviews and there were a lot of good things mentioned about this place, but this experience was unacceptable and we won't be returning. read more
