Our 2 salads! Beets and Verde Salad.

We celebrated my birthday here for the first time. The food was outstanding, I had the most tender steak that melted in my mouth, the mashed potatoes were delicious, but the serving size wasn't enough for me. We had 2 delicious salads too. We all had great lattes and our desserts were ok, I've had better. My experience was a great one!

Went there on a Sunday evening at around 7pm. We were lucky enough to find parking on the street! No wait, thankfully, and it was a comfortable evening so we sat on the patio. They had heated lamps so it felt super cozy! I would give this restaurant 4/5 for our first visit. Here's what we ordered: - Gnocchi Fritti 4/5 they were a little too soft but still yummy - Tagliatelle Verde Bolognese 4/5 the menu says it's made with slow braised wagyu beef ragu so I had higher expectations for this dish - Panna Cotta 4/5 too bad it was a little too "liquidy" Service was good, the waitress was nice and came several times during dinner to check in on us, sometimes too soon lol however, at the end, around 8-830pm, we were the last guests and it took a while to get the check, even though we asked for it and she said she'd be back. Since we were waiting for a long time, we decided to just get up and walk back inside the restaurant to pay. As we got back inside, the waitress was having a moment with her partner (owner?) which explained why she didn't come back with the check for a while. It got a bit awkward since we had interrupted them. Luckily, they had a super cute Australian shepherd so we focused our attention on the dog instead, paid and left. Maybe we'll come back and try other items on the menu, I'm not sure. All in all, I'd say it's a cute place for a date.

Nice back patio area, covered, with plenty of heaters for the colder months. Parking is easy in this neighborhood. Mater Caesar - oddly fishy for us. Nice big sheets of parmenggiano on top, fresh romaine hearts underneath, crostini on the side. It seems like the crayfish is in the dressing in the place of a traditional anchovy. Beta - beet salad, which was quite nice. Mellow goat cheese and a generous helping of beets, with grilled endive. Pork Belly appetizer - this was the stand out for me. One big pork belly chunk and one bug delightfully fried potato gratin square with a sea salt panna cotta glaze on the plate. Really interesting flavors and so good together. Tagliatelle Verde Ragu - excellent Ragu. The pasta could have been a more al dente, but it all tastes really nice together. I would get this again. We were also interested to try the gnocchi fritti and the truffle pasta, so we have that to look fwd to next time! They are trying some interesting things here.

This place is amazing! Please support this local business. The food is very good and the people here are so nice. They actually prepared my food the way I requested without an issue. I will definitely come here again. The pasta was al dente and the dishes were full of flavor. My husband and I enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine and enjoyed the day inside because the weather was a bit warm. If you get a chance, their outdoor seating is lovely and gives a great relaxing vibe. Parking is a challenge. I only found street parking. Prices are moderate.

What a gem! Found this restaurant last minute an hour before closing. They were so accommodating and friendly. Food was amazing. Al dente Pomodoro pasta, delicious pork chop and wagyu burger. Ended the evening with a delicious panna cotta. Definitely a must try!

    Iberico secreto, asparagus, sweet potato
    Rian L.

Came in a few months ago and got the spaghetti Al pomodoro and an iberico secreto pork steak. The spaghetti tasted of raw flour and had an unpleasant texture, but the sauce was delicious. The entree was the single worst plate of food I've been served in the decade I've lived in LA. The pork was nice and had a lovely chimichurri-esque sauce on it, but underneath the pork was a sauce described on the menu as "panna cotta butter." This sauce was sweet with vanilla notes and was utterly disgusting when it interacted with the chimichurri. The worst pairing imaginable. The two sides were asparagus (unseasoned and overcooked) and sweet potato (also unseasoned and had a very unpleasant vegetal taste to it that I do not associate with sweet potato) and they were both awful. The waiter saw I had left a lot of food behind and asked if everything was ok. I explained that I didn't like the sauce with the pork and that the sides tasted unseasoned. The waiter seemed disinterested and asked I wanted a box. First and last time at Mater.

Highly recommending Mater for any occasion. We were kindly welcomed by the owner and the chef, the staff is friendly and feels like family. The menu is delicious, every dish, sauce and side was amazing and full of flavor. The vibe is chill, soft music and relaxing lighting with comfortable seating and reservation was easy via open table. Top dishes: bolognese, tiramisu, beet salad, pork.

Hidden gem alert! This was my first time here and I can already tell I'm gonna be a regular. Excited to bring my family and friends back here. My lunch was delicious! I got the Caesar salad (recommended by my hostess). The Tagliatelle Verde Bolognese was so tender and flavorful with a generous topping of cheese. The patio is lovely with comfy seating! Some of the best Italian food I've had. This place is going to be SO popular when they officially open next week.

From my first call to restaurateur Eric to make a reservation earlier in the week, the experience was as warm and personable as can be. Within minutes of our arrival, we were greeted by co-restaurateur Antonio, and we instantly felt like family at the beautiful, private table they had thoughtfully reserved for us by the window. Our wonderful server, Jessica, made the night even brighter. We started with some Peach Puree Bellini Prosecco that was crisp, refreshing, and beyond amazing. The food arrived with impressive speed, but the quality was truly second to none. My wife absolutely loved the special of the night--a Tiger Shrimp and Asparagus Linguini--and my Angus Beef Bolognese with savory short rib ragu was easily the best I've ever had. Antonio and Jessica checked on us frequently, chatting about the day and the amazing history of the restaurant. This was NOT just a night out at a "restaurant." This was quite literally getting together with family and having the time of our lives. Prosecco Trattoria is not "just another place to eat"--it is now our favorite home away from home for artfully prepared food and drinks. To Eric, Antonio, and Jessica: thank you for welcoming us into your family for such a special milestone!

The hubby wanted to eat out Italian for a cozy Sunday, holiday evening. And have never ventured here in Toluca Lake; and what an elegant, delight! Jessica was our server. She made our experience delectable, truly! Noticed every detail, and with warm humor. She recommended my husband read the desert menu aloud, for the romance of it all. And it works and that's true! Hehe I ordered the 4-cheese Ravioli in tomatoe sauce, and it's unlike any I've EVER had. It's about 5 inches in diameter, round+ mostly flat, and not too salty. Absolutely delicious! Jessica offered to sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top, the service! Unmatched. The Italian seasoning added to the tomatoe sauce, makes it sweeter, aromatic. If you're familiar with my reviews, I'm always searching for vegetarian options. For desert we had the Panna Cotta with wild berries. Excellent, yummy! And we kept it cozy, with mint hot tea. Which is always a go-to around the Xmas holidays. The decor is northern Italian elegance: hand painted art, crystal chandeliers, and white linens abound. Reminds me of when we hiked the hills of Tuscany. With the holiday touch of twinkle lights and fresh winter floral bouquets. It seems most locals frequent here: Are known by name, and had the front door held open for them if elderly. What sweet, kindness and local vibes. We'll be back, to try perhaps the chicken the hubby says. :) Thank you all for an exceptional, romantic Sunday night dinner with my Hubby, during the holidays.

From the moment we pulled up to valet to checking in for our reservation, everything felt smooth and elevated. We got seated right away and our server, Roger (I think that was his name), immediately set the tone for the evening. He gave us a great rundown of the menu and the concept of the restaurant, which made the experience feel more personal and immersive. We started with the Hokkaido milk buns and wow... that brown butter was dangerously addicting. Soft and almost mousse-like with the perfect balance of sweetness and salt. I could honestly eat that by itself. The buns themselves were delicious too, though I do wish they served them piping hot like the bread at Texas Roadhouse or Lucille's Smokehouse. The yellowtail crudo was incredible. Super fresh, melt-in-your-mouth texture, and the chips added a nice crunch while the fruit brought a bright, robust flavor that paired beautifully with the fish. Easily one of my favorite dishes of the night. A friend of my friend happened to be working there that evening and surprised us with the kale sprouts. Funny enough, we had literally just been debating whether to order it. It turned out to be such a great dish -- smoky, crunchy, and packed with flavor. The raisins added a really nice touch of sweetness. We ended up saving some of it to eat alongside our entrees and it paired perfectly. My friend ordered the dry-aged branzino and it was excellent. Crispy skin on the outside while the fish stayed soft, juicy, sweet, and savory inside. The Oaxacan mole felt like such a bold choice but somehow worked beautifully with the dish. And that burnt sweet potato? So soft and flavorful it practically melted in your mouth. I went with the dry-aged duck breast and loved every part of it. It came with pommes aligot layered with duck au jus and fermented black bean underneath, which sounded unexpected but tasted amazing together. Rich, savory, unique, and comforting all at once. The potato pave was another standout -- crispy on the outside, tender and rich on the inside. Absolutely delicious. Everything about the night was memorable: the atmosphere, the music, the food, and the service. Verse is definitely one of those places that stands out from the usual dining scene. We also shared the corn elote on the side. Everything -- and I truly mean everything -- was delicious and incredibly satisfying. One thing I really appreciated was that dinner felt like an experience rather than a rushed meal. The food came out a little slower than at most restaurants, but honestly, that made the night even better. It gave us time to enjoy the music, relax, talk, and savor each course as it came out. My husband ordered a gin martini and said it was the best prepared martini he has had in a while (he is pretty picky on his martinis). The food was plentiful! The ambience was usual, old Italian restaurant vibe. Most of all, I was very disappointed with my food. This makes it two strikes.
