We had a wonderful experience here! We ordered the pasta, steak, and lamb chops, and everything was delicious. The steak was especially memorable--it had an amazing crispy crust unlike any I've had before. What stood out most was how warm and welcoming the restaurant felt, like enjoying a home-cooked meal at a family member's house. Our waitress and the entire staff were incredibly kind and attentive, which made the experience even better. Aside from the steak and salad, I felt like the other dishes could use a boost of flavor, but I would still definitely recommend this spot and can't wait to return!

Late night snack as we arrived from LAX, and made our way to N Hollywood. We split a pasta/spaghetti dish and a nice green salad. Both were excellent. No bread but they did bring us a crostini. Hard to dunk that in the delicious sauce. My iced tea was bottled. I think that's odd in a craft restaurant. Nice service from someone who I think is the owner. I understand this to be a neighborhood gem. Good luck.

What a hidden gem in N. Hollywood. Such a beautiful, cozy spot with both the interior and outdoor space thoughtfully and tastefully decorated. Our server, Diana, was incredibly attentive and checked in often to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely delicious; the pork belly, the salad, and the branzino were standouts. Our only mistake was talking too much and not diving into the pasta right away, but even then, it was still very good. The atmosphere was peaceful and inviting. I'd love to come back during the day to fully enjoy the greenery under the turf. They also have a nice wine list. Street parking is available and wasn't an issue for us. Definitely a spot worth visiting.

We celebrated my birthday here for the first time. The food was outstanding, I had the most tender steak that melted in my mouth, the mashed potatoes were delicious, but the serving size wasn't enough for me. We had 2 delicious salads too. We all had great lattes and our desserts were ok, I've had better. My experience was a great one!

I came to Mater to give my mom a wonderfully, unforgettable birthday dinner and this was the perfect place to do just that. Mater is a fine-dining restaurant that feels secluded and romantic located in North Hollywood.. yes, close enough so you don't have to drive far if you're a SFV local. We were greeted with a kind face at the door and quickly seated. We were given a quick, informative run down of the menu and we ordered two appetizers; pictured below is what the table ordered. I can go on for days about how AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS the food was, but I will say that you must experience the delectable flavors yourself. The food was a 100/10 along with the food presentation... I mean come ONNN Mater is will be back to reorder everything again.

Went there on a Sunday evening at around 7pm. We were lucky enough to find parking on the street! No wait, thankfully, and it was a comfortable evening so we sat on the patio. They had heated lamps so it felt super cozy! I would give this restaurant 4/5 for our first visit. Here's what we ordered: - Gnocchi Fritti 4/5 they were a little too soft but still yummy - Tagliatelle Verde Bolognese 4/5 the menu says it's made with slow braised wagyu beef ragu so I had higher expectations for this dish - Panna Cotta 4/5 too bad it was a little too "liquidy" Service was good, the waitress was nice and came several times during dinner to check in on us, sometimes too soon lol however, at the end, around 8-830pm, we were the last guests and it took a while to get the check, even though we asked for it and she said she'd be back. Since we were waiting for a long time, we decided to just get up and walk back inside the restaurant to pay. As we got back inside, the waitress was having a moment with her partner (owner?) which explained why she didn't come back with the check for a while. It got a bit awkward since we had interrupted them. Luckily, they had a super cute Australian shepherd so we focused our attention on the dog instead, paid and left. Maybe we'll come back and try other items on the menu, I'm not sure. All in all, I'd say it's a cute place for a date.

Genuinely one of the BEST food i've had in LA! The place is run by an Italian guy and he's so sweet, he walks around and talks to each table and makes sure everyone is satisfied and having a good time. The best service ever! This small business deserves hordes of people coming in and trying the food, because EVERYTHING WAS GOOD!!!! We got the peaches and burrata appetizer and the verde arugula salad and were instantly impressed. Then the branzino and bolognese entrees came out, and we were blown away. The food, the service, the intimate setting, everything was amazing.

Nice back patio area, covered, with plenty of heaters for the colder months. Parking is easy in this neighborhood. Mater Caesar - oddly fishy for us. Nice big sheets of parmenggiano on top, fresh romaine hearts underneath, crostini on the side. It seems like the crayfish is in the dressing in the place of a traditional anchovy. Beta - beet salad, which was quite nice. Mellow goat cheese and a generous helping of beets, with grilled endive. Pork Belly appetizer - this was the stand out for me. One big pork belly chunk and one bug delightfully fried potato gratin square with a sea salt panna cotta glaze on the plate. Really interesting flavors and so good together. Tagliatelle Verde Ragu - excellent Ragu. The pasta could have been a more al dente, but it all tastes really nice together. I would get this again. We were also interested to try the gnocchi fritti and the truffle pasta, so we have that to look fwd to next time! They are trying some interesting things here.

This place is amazing! Please support this local business. The food is very good and the people here are so nice. They actually prepared my food the way I requested without an issue. I will definitely come here again. The pasta was al dente and the dishes were full of flavor. My husband and I enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine and enjoyed the day inside because the weather was a bit warm. If you get a chance, their outdoor seating is lovely and gives a great relaxing vibe. Parking is a challenge. I only found street parking. Prices are moderate.

What a gem! Found this restaurant last minute an hour before closing. They were so accommodating and friendly. Food was amazing. Al dente Pomodoro pasta, delicious pork chop and wagyu burger. Ended the evening with a delicious panna cotta. Definitely a must try!

Hidden gem alert! This was my first time here and I can already tell I'm gonna be a regular. Excited to bring my family and friends back here. My lunch was delicious! I got the Caesar salad (recommended by my hostess). The Tagliatelle Verde Bolognese was so tender and flavorful with a generous topping of cheese. The patio is lovely with comfy seating! Some of the best Italian food I've had. This place is going to be SO popular when they officially open next week.

Came on a Saturday morning around 11, thought it'd be superrrrrr crowded but my party of 4 actually got seated pretty quickly - within 15 min. Of course last time was a different story, so it's hit or miss! But worth the wait! We tried lots of items and again, all delicious and generous portions. I ordered the Loxes, which was described as scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, tomatoes, onions, pickled red onions, sour cream, daikon sprouts, fresh dill, sourdough toast, and a choice of grilled potatoes or mixed greens. On paper, it sounded like a flavorful and satisfying combination, but unfortunately, the execution fell well short of expectations. The first disappointment was that the entire dish arrived only slightly warm--closer to room temperature than freshly prepared. Eggs and smoked salmon are at their best when served at the proper temperature, and the lukewarm presentation made the meal feel like it had been sitting for a while before reaching the table. The smoked salmon also didn't taste particularly fresh. It lacked the clean, delicate flavor and silky texture you'd expect from quality lox. The sourdough toast was another letdown, as it tasted stale rather than crisp on the outside and soft inside. Combined with the underwhelming salmon, it made the meal feel less like something prepared to order and more like an afterthought. Flavor-wise, everything was surprisingly flat. Despite the variety of ingredients--fresh dill, pickled onions, sour cream, tomatoes, and sprouts--nothing really came together into a memorable dish. It wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't something I'd crave or recommend. At $19.95, I expected much better quality, freshness, and attention to detail. There are plenty of brunch spots in Los Angeles serving more flavorful, better-executed meals at this price point. One positive worth mentioning is the free parking in the back, which is definitely convenient in an area where parking can often be a hassle. Unfortunately, convenient parking alone isn't enough to make up for a disappointing meal. Based on this experience, I won't be returning.

If you are party of 6 and/or more, they offer a set menu with a different price range ($135, $175, $250 p/p). Since we were only party of 2 we had to order from a menu. Cheese platter, salmon carpaccio, vinaigrette salad, wague beef, & bronzino. A manager or the owner came to our table with a plate of lamb chops, as a token of appreciation, that was very sweet-thank you! Everything was delicious, however, if you really hungry the portions are small, it won't satisfy you. We had a big lunch earlier, so we felt great with it. Another great touch was, they have a photographer that goes around the whole evening, and takes pictures of the guests. Within few minutes you get an offer of purchasing your pic in a nice frame for $20 (a fare price in my opinion). Even though we didn't need all 3 pics of us, we still purchased them all in support of the photographer's business. In all, yes it's pricey, and adds up quickly, but absolutely worth it! We will be back. I highly recommend this restaurant for a birthday celebration, or even if you just want a special evening with your significant one.
