The food was good - not exceptional, but good. However, this restaurant is grossly overpriced and the portions are very small. The steak was very good quality and perfectly cooked. The linguine with clams was average, the clams were small, and the portion would have been just right for a child. The staff was welcoming and reasonably attentive, and the decor was typical for an Italian restaurant. They have a parking lot behind the restaurant which is a big plus for that area. The drinks are on the high side ($15 for an Irish Coffee) and nothing fancy. All in all, it is an average restaurant which is high-priced (properly rated $$$) and, when looking at value, it is lacking. I just don't see this business surviving long term even in relatively affluent areas such as Studio City or Sherman Oaks. While its aspirations are to be a high- priced boutique restaurant, it has to accomplish significantly more with the food, and particularly the portions, if its going to develop any kind of reputation or local following. This was our first time at Terra e Mare. We were celebrating my birthday. Everything was wonderful from start to finish. The cocktails were great. The tuna tartare and grilled octopus were delicious. The ambience, very good food great presentation all in all fine; except for one issue. For me this was a major issue. The Cacho de Pepe was so poorly constructed that it did not resemble this dish properly at all. In fact, it tasted like something made by a teenager at home it virtually had no pepper, and the cheese was served on the side not emulsified with the pasta as it is supposed to be prepared. An incredibly simple Dish if made properly but horrible execution causes this to be an utter failure. This place could easily be a 4.5 in my book with a bit more attentiveness I know that sounds like I'm asking for a lot because you could tell there was a desire to perform well by the staff. read more

We arrived during our reservation time and it took 10 minutes to get seated. Once we ordered our drinks it took another 15 minutes because we were told the bar was backed up. Our food came out at a good timing. The fettuccini with mushrooms was excellent. I think they are on point with the food but the service was very slow. Hence the one star off. Stick around for this twisted tale of horrible food and shitty service. Let's just say this place should be called TERR-I-BLE...you'll get better Italian from Chef Boyardee. We actually stopped people coming into the restaurant on our way out and warned them this would be the most over priced and disappointing meal they would ever have. #truestory Things felt off from the moment we walked in. The hostess greeted us and immediately made a comment about us coming there as a second choice. We were sat at a table and ordered drinks and appetizers. Caesar Salad - overwhelming anchovy. Disgustingly fishy and actually nauseating. Steak tartar - bland, tasted like nothing. Our waiter was nice and tried to do his best but didn't know they were sold out of Branzino which 2 of our party ordered. It took them 15 minutes to come by our table and let us know we'd have to order something else. When the food finally came it was either completely bland, or ridiculously fishy. Inedible. Period. Salmon - small, no seasoning. No flavor. Sea Bass - tiny. Was told it would be 7 oz. It was 3 or 4 at most. Drowned in butter after being asked to keep it dry. Squid ink pasta w crab - stank like Venice beach bathrooms Pasta Cacio Pepe - was sent back for being first delivered as literal pasta in water. Everyone felt the food was unbelievably sub par. Our group is not that picky. This food was literally not worth half what they charge. We agreed to complain. After a detailed rant to a staff member they literally walked away without comment. Our waiter then remained surprisingly absent. We had no one come by for the next 20 minutes but noted we were being avoided and kitchen staff were silently watching our table from the bar/kitchen area. It was like we were being pranked on a reality show. We weren't sure what was going to happen next. Someone who we believe was the manager or maybe the owner finally made his way over. He unprofessionally approached us, didn't not introduce himself and instead of offering apologies or asking why we were unhappy, we were greeted with "no one else has complained tonight. We'll comp some of the dishes" We paid and left while being scorned at by the staff on our way out. Unreal experience. Like nothing we've ever seen before. We'll not be returning obviously and will be posting about this all over the web to warn others to stay away. Bellwether was so much better. Hopefully this place will be closed soon. I went there for my birthday last night. I don't write reviews often but I was so impressed I decided to make the effort. We ordered tuna tartar-super fresh and a very generous portion, The seafood pasta-al dente, the sause and flavor were just right, the branzino and the lobster. Everything was very delicious, service was impeccable, the attitude of the waiters - profesional without being overly attentive. The tiramisu and panna cotta were also a great choice. It had very little pepper and the risotarre (starch water) was nonexistent. Not much flavor. The Lobster tail in the seafood pasta was rubber and the mussels were foul. The entire meal for 3 with wine was $327.00. I was really hoping it would be decent. But.....it wasn't. There's a reason why it had last minute availability, I figured we'd try it for Fathers Day. Cocktails are on point! Spent the day acting out the "it's a Negroni...spagliato...with prosecco in it" moment and lo and behold it was on their menu and it was DELICIOUS! Hubby enjoyed his O.F. We did the dine LA menu, which was very good, and we managed to get one of everything on the menu with the exception of the main dish. One of the salads and the salmon tasted slightly off, but not enough to ruin the meal. From the busboys who attentively kept out water glasses full and table clean to our delightful server Julia. Dined here a few weeks ago and I'm giving it a 4 star, not for the food, but for our server, who was friendly and attentive. Surprisingly, there weren't many people dining on a Thursday night, around 7'ish. There was a total of 3 tables including ours, probably 2-3 more tables with diners in the patio area, and 2 men sitting at the bar. The food was mediocre. We started with 1/2 dozen oysters and Caesar salad. The oysters were fresh and delish and the dressing on the Caesar was good. For our second course, I had the Branzino and my husband had the Lamb. Beautiful presentation, but lacking in flavor, especially the Branzino. Not sure if I'll give this place another chance but for now, we'll continue to dine at Vitello's! read more

Went last night for the first time. It was superb. I had the spinach salad, which was sweet and tangy and salty, and surprisingly delicious. My main course was spaghetti with ricotta and roasted tomatoes. The pasta was cooked perfectly and this was so good I could eat it every day. We split the Panna cotta for dessert, and it was yummy. With a glass of wine and tip, the bill was about $70 each, which is pricey. But the service was great, I loved the ambience and I can't wait to go back. read more

Fell in here last week..took a chance because they have an outdoor patio...we were greeted by a waitress who right away told us we could either "sit @ the bar, or at a table outside that wasn't on the actual patio..." (turn off).....ok...more than 1/2 the inside tables were empty, and 1/4 outside was empty...but the owner quickly offered that we sit @ a cozy table for 2 on the patio...Our waiter was friendly, gave us time to read the menu, suggested a really tasty white wine....we're a bit picky, but love food! For me not eating meat was a bit of a challenge, so I settled on the salmon, for my boyfriend, the swordfish.....We got one of the salads, they served big chunks of mixed greens, we'd prefer if it was chopped...the bread was 3 sml artisan rolls, served w/herbed butter, good...4 would've been better...we asked for more! The salmon was a generous portion, was hot, but the asparagus & mashed peas were cold, pretty good, the swordfish was warm, we didn't send back bc we were starving!! We thought they went out of their way to create a menu that's a bit too complicated...I'm sure it all works, but for those who prefer simply delicious hot food, create a few straight forward dishes?? Our waiter was very friendly w/other patrons, us too, but it takes away from the actual service when he's giving the history of his life & can't be flagged down for another glass of wine! I decided to follow it up with an item from their specials. Short ribs with truffle gnocchi was amazing. Short Ribs was tender and full of flavors. Very expensive place for very sub par food. I got the beet salad and goat cheese which had no flavor and the goat cheese was hard and store bought. Whole dish needs some sort of sauce or at least some salt. Tuna tartare was next, same exact issue, just raw fish on raw avocado with some home fried chips. Absolutely no flavor or sauce what's so ever. Had to ask for salt to make it palatable. Next I got the branzino special at a whopping 45$. Soggy skin, full of oil, this time way over salted. Dish looks an absolute mess, puddles of oil over a very acidic tomato couscous. Tiramisu was next - decent - a little bitter but acceptable, nothing special. Place was about 1/3 full at prime time on a Saturday. I would avoid this restaurant until it goes under and someone else tries their hand at this location. Service was good but I never got my second glass of wine. I do not recommend at all. read more

We were excited to try this restaurant and arrived promptly for our Open Table reservation at 730pm Saturday 2/27/21 The restaurant had plentiful outdoor seating perfect for COVID. No one was at the front to welcome us so we went inside and waited to be greeted but just felt ignored. When we were noticed by an older nan who appeared to be the owner manager all he said was we have no tables. We said there must be a mistake as we had a reservation. He just looked at us w a blank stare and said I know. There was no effort to apologize or suggest a solution.. just nothing! He ruined our Saturday evening. My third visit here. Met friends at this location on Monday night. What a perfect spot! Casual, relaxing, and lovely ambiance. Food was really good. Ordered beet salad, tuna tartare, pasta with truffles, and one chicken and arugula main dish, and sorbet for dessert. All enjoyable! Is this a dining adventure? Not really. After we ordered it took a full TWO HOURS for us to get PART of our dinners. The owner came out several times and he did nothing to improve the service. I really want to like this place because I live 2 blocks away and they are one of the few restaurants in town that make their pasta in house, however after tonight i wont be returning. We arrived at 6:40 pm to a pretentious hostess that attempted to make us feel bad cause we didn't have a reservation. So we sat at the bar. The highlight of the meal was the bottled water which was delicious (sounds really condescending but its true and really is good) We started with the lobster bisque which tasted like tomato puree with a subtle hint of lobster. Then we shared the bolognese which also lacked flavor along with the veal Milanese which was OK, and looked great, but Ive cooked better at home and I'm not a chef. Both wines by the glass we ordered did not taste fresh. Service was good and friendly. There are so many other restaurants in LA that would have had better food for the $129 I spent. Musso and frank, Petit Trois to name a couple. Thankfully Casa Vega is a block away so we could drown our disappointment with margaritas. read more

Ughhhhh this place was a bust. My fiancé and I came here for dinner and the food was UNSEASONED and the drinks were BEYOND SWEET. Like???? How do you serve potatoes and spinach with ZERO SALT. The steak was OKAY, but half of it was just fat. My fiancé got the lobster pasta and literally got a bowl of spaghetti with a whole half of a lobster thrown on top...... How the hell is someone supposed to eat that??? We both ordered margaritas and they were SO SWEET, I could barely drink it. I also overheard the table next to ours sending their drinks back because they were too sweet. The service was okay, but some things we asked for were forgotten.
