This place has been on my list for a meal. This particular visit, we just happened to walk by after an event. It wasn't for food but for a nightcap. Stopped in which was pretty quiet. There were two gentleman sitting outside with their beer and a few others inside. The dj was starting to set up so I assume something was happening later. We just happened to stop by before the set up. The place is small but cozy. It was a dark and moody vibe but nice. There's a bar along the main wall which why we stopped by. Grabbed a couple of beers and sat outside. It's along a busy street which was nice people watching. Didn't have any food but the menu did look nice. Just from what we experience, it was good. Obviously the beer was a perfect pair to a relaxing night. People watching was great touch too. As the dj was finishing setting up the crowd did start to arrive. I'm not sure how often that happens. So basically, this reviews was a quick pop in and enjoying a beer. Service was nice. Staff were all pretty friendly. Ambience was pretty nice. Next up, dinner. read more

Don't waste your money here. It's appetizer size entrees for an arm and a leg. I ordered the salmon entree for $39 and received 2.5 ounces of fish and a dollop of puree with 5 tiny shoestring root veggies. It's an overpriced kids meal. Spend your money down the street at Great White or Granville instead and you'll get a real portion of food. They also charge 3% for using credit card and supply you with bar napkins instead of real ones. If I'm paying almost $40 for a plate, I'd expect a real napkin at the very least. I have been to Tuning Fork back in 2017 for lunch. A lot has changed since then. Last night my spiritual friend and I decided to go there in the evening around 7pm to listen to some fine jazz/blues music, and have dinner. We shared a Truffled Mushroom Burger, ESW salad, Sangria, and water. The Truffled Mushroom Burger came with Menage aú mushroom, goat cheese, tomato, pickles, imported truffle oil & goddess aioli. The ESW salad came with lots of good, fresh, healthy, vegetables. They are: field greens, avocado, heirloom tomatoes, red onion, corn, grilled asparagus, hothouse cucumber, edamame, crispy tortilla strips, cashews and vinaigrette dressing, I opted for ranch and no cashews. $18.00 for the salad, and there was a price difference by $6.50 in the Truffle burger. They charged me $28.50 for our burger, when on their website it says $22.00. I am not going to dock a star for that, but they need to get the price right. Is it $28.50 or is it $22.00.? Food tasted fresh, healthy, not oily, and not salty. It was pretty good and the portions were fair. Not too big and not too small.Very filling though. Our burger came with shoe strings fries, which was good and they charged an additional$2.00. Sangria was not too strong and had a good kick to it, and it was pretty refreshing. $9.00. Great live music. Bands name was BARRY BIG B. BRENNER. Great musicians and they truly delivered for 2 hours straight. Ambiance was cool, chill, dim lights, interior of the restaurant was wood. Tables/chairs, mirrors on the walls, art work of many different kinds, candles on the tables, a nice bar, cute, small patio outside, clean restroom and last but not least a great service by Vivian and Karla. Vivian had a very good vibe, upbeat energy which what I was looking for.Karla had a sweet smile that was pleasant. It was not crowded at all for a Friday night. So we kind of went with our own pace. They have couple of spots of parking in the back, but I parked on the street. Overall a great experience, a little pricy for my budget. Will return again when I have some $$ in my pocket! I went to this place to listen to some live music.. "The Eldermen" They were fantastic! The small Tavern was packed in like sardines, but I would never recommend to eat there or drink. My margarita was ice watered down. I think they forgot the tequila seriously! The service was horrible. The waitress was rude and the acoustics could've been much better due to the fact that they don't have a very good sound system to listen to music! The band was so professional and good the music sounded great. I have to say the vibe of the restaurant was so so the food was OK. We got a burger. What could go wrong with a burger, right? Overpriced for what it was. The ambience was so loud It was hard to hear the music because it was such a small place. Go there for crammed seating and watered down drinks and unfriendly service. I'm sure the only thing they had going for themselves is they had "The Eldermen" to bring in the business. Quite the draw! read more

As a local, this is the 1st time I ordered pizza and was impressed enough to review. Don't sleep on it! Pizza has an ephemeral quality I can't put my finger on, but exactly what you crave. I think it's the sauce? Complex and elevates everything. Crispy char on pepperoni hits sweet spot many places don't nail. Crust is suitably thin/chewy, but more neutral delivery than elevating. Not enough to downgrade, but can be touched up. We don't have a lot of pizza options in this area, so this is in the top 2 along with Joe's. read more

Came here for the first time and had such a good time. They had a live blues band playing which they do every Sunday. I believe they have live music every night which is pretty cool and definitely amps up the whole experience. They are amazing and truly talented. Lightenin willy is pretty well known and Pete Anderson is a big musical director and manager and plays the guitar in the group. The owner of the restaurant plays the drums which is so cool! They added to the ambiance for sure. I got the truffle burger and truffle fries. The burger was super juicy and they grind all of their own meat which you can tell. Super fresh. The truffles fries were absolutely heaven. I dipped in their homemade ranch/blue cheese dressing. Such a good combo. The server/bartender Josh made some good recommendations with wine. He was super nice and friendly. They have a great selection of beer on tap and different wines by the glass. I was impressed at their wide selection. They make their own potato chips and those were also super yummy. Would definitely recommend for a fun and funky meal with a jam sesh! *a small but big plus they have purse hooks under the bar! My husband and I have been regulars at Tuning Fork for over a decade. We seriously eat there once a week (if not more) because we love it so much. The food is consistently amazing (the smokestack lightning bbq sandwich, all the burgers on the menu, the jerk chicken plate, the short rib w/kale and cauliflower/russet mash, and the strawberry salmon salad are mouthwateringly top-notch), and the beer and wine lists are also great. The live music is equally fantastic, with a rotating cast of mega- talented local singer-songwriters and ensembles, and even a Latin Grammy-winning classical guitarist on occasion, plus weekly open mic nights where emerging musicians can perform in a supportive space. The vibe of the place is super chill, and the owner and servers are always incredibly friendly and welcoming and greet us and the many other regular patrons by name. It's a cozy, intimate space that is an equally great spot for a date night, a friend or coworker meetup, a family-friendly meal (we have been bringing our daughter with us since she was little), or an artsy/musical evening. We are so grateful (though not at all surprised given how amazing their food is) that this was one of the few local restaurants that survived the pandemic. If you live in the Valley (or anywhere else) and haven't ever been to Tuning Fork, do yourself a favor and go- you will not be disappointed! read more

I really enjoy going here for live music. The space is nice and intimate. Thank you for giving musicians a place to perform, there aren't as many places like this anymore! As far as the food, delicious choices! I recently was very disappointed with the service, maybe they need more people available to take orders when they're crowded?? I was there for open mic night, I arrived after my friends were already seated and the waiter didn't even acknowledge me. We tried to get his attention, it seemed like he was the only person taking orders and delivering the orders. So, they lost out in taking my order. I couldn't even get water, otherwise they'd get 5 stars. I'm being generous, nobody likes to go somewhere to eat/drink and not get service. read more

This venue crams tables 2 inches apart, once you're seated forget about getting up unless it's to leave. They also have no parking so you have to park on the street about a mile away. They do have good live music lineups which earned them the second star. If you absolutely want to see a performer then go, otherwise skip this sardine can. read more

Came here on a Saturday night to see some friends perform; the place was packed which was great for the performers but presented some challenges with the service. The staff definitely had their work cut out for them as they navigated serving tables in the packed room amidst the rotating performers. However, the staff behind the bar were speaking extremely loudly to each other about things unrelated to work while the various groups were performing. This was extremely disruptive to the event that was happening - I would react differently they were speaking loudly to communicate about work and helping customers, but they were simply chatting loudly and distracting people from the performances. We stood the entire time (not a problem) and ordered our drinks at the bar. They had a solid selection of beers on tap and it seemed like they had a good cocktail list (though I stuck with a beer). We opened a tab on my boyfriend's credit card. We only had 1 drink each before the end of the night when he went to close out. The bartender couldn't find the credit card - why? Because it hadn't been put with the other credit cards for tabs, he had put it in his pocket. It's unclear if this was a slip up because of the stress of the crowd or an intentional choice, but it is highly unprofessional and extremely disconcerting. We didn't have a chance to order food (our fault for getting there too late for seats!), but I'm not sure I would come back here after the experience with the staff. read more

This is a hidden little gem tucked away, just off of Laurel Canyon Boulevard close to Ventura. It's a small restaurant, but the food is amazing and the wine is phenomenal! The service was great and our waiter never let us have an empty glass. Which I appreciate. There was a live band playing, which was awesome! If you are going there to have deep conversations go on a night where they don't have live music because it is a small venue.. parking was super easy on the street or in the neighborhood. I came here with a pair of friends for a girls night on a weekday. It was really quiet for dinner but picked up (including live music) around 8 pm. We took advantage of the Yelp check in offer and got the free fries - yum! I ordered the shepherd's pie and my friends got burgers. Our food wasn't bad - probably a 3.5/4 (could've used some more seasoning) but the service was 5 stars. Our server was very attentive, funny and helpful. He made sure we had everything we needed. The wine was good and the prices are fair for the area. The ambiance was nice, too. Parking can be tricky here on weekends but weekdays it's not bad. read more

Finally made it to this little locals fav spot! been told by few friends about this place over the years but for some reason we never stopped by, till last night. hungry and tired my husband and I wanted to grab some food and relax for an hour after a long day.. we were seated quickly and got a table near the stage. I was worried the music was gonna be loud, since I needed some relax time.. but not only the music wasn't annoying it was surprisingly the reason we stayed few minutes longer than we planned.. the guitarist/singer was just crushing it!! he was very skilled and made our night! Our server was very attentive, very polite gentleman and checked on us frequently but just the right amount. Our food was delicious (blue burger) and the mushroom flatbread.. my husband liked his beer of choice.. and over all we thought it was such a nice surprise to find the perfect spot for an easy casual dinner date. All the tables were full and no reserved table in sight. After they had emailed me twice to confirm. Save your money, back, time, and eardrums by going literally anywhere else. This place looked great online and, at first glance, had decent reviews - but oh my god, what a lie. Thank God I made a reservation for this random hole in the wall, because when I walked in, the rude waitress with the short red hair acted like she was mad that I had even walked into the place and demanded to know if I had made a reservation. They had enough space for people to sit (in the most uncomfortable and uninviting chairs ever created!), and it didn't feel like I needed a reservation for such a small place, however, her immediate accusing tone and weird energy started everything off on the wrong foot. She was dismissive and a little angry that my friend and I were even there in the first place, which was honestly shocking for what felt like such a small business. This restaurant almost felt like I walked into someone's private party, but they forgot to make the invites private and begrudgingly had to let everyone into the party due to their own mistake. And to reiterate, the chairs are the worst to sit in ever. Oh my God, they're so uncomfortable! They also don't have a real menu; they have a scanable option, but you have to ask for it, so when I got up to ask her for it after about 10 minutes of being ignored, she reprimanded me, told me to go sit down in the rudest and most dismissive tone, and then brought over the saddest, most lame little piece of wet, printer paper with a QR code on it I've ever seen. Which, after she felt we'd had enough time with, walked by and ripped right off the table without comment, and then proceeded to ignore us. This was pathetic. If not for meeting my friend and wanting to hear the live music, I would have left right then and there. After being served one bottle of lukewarm tap water in the tiniest glasses for the entire night (she never refilled it, asked if we wanted more, or even checked it), half-decent food on the wrong plates that my friend and I had to correct ourselves, and an overpriced cocktail, the music finally started. They don't tell you this on the website - but BRING EAR PLUGS!!!!! The music was way too loud in this small, cramped restaurant. It made the entire evening feel disjointed because you couldn't talk to the people you came with at all, and you had to yell at the waitstaff to get their attention if you needed anything because they couldn't hear anything over the music. All in all, this place is overpriced, understaffed, has an uncomfortable and unwelcoming atmosphere, a hostile and disgruntled waitstaff, and has made me never want to try small business dining again after such a bad experience. read more

This was the first visit for me and I was not impressed. After 25 minutes waiting for drinks I went to the bar myself. Food took an hour and my companion receivers her food 10 minutes before I did. The food was not great for the wait. The only redeeming thing about this experience was the lovely folk guitar player.
