Ollie Vaughn's is a cozy bakery meets brunch spot that is the perfect choice for a morning bite in…read morethe Phoenix area. To get here, there are parking lots nearby where you have to pay to park or street parking around the area. Inside, they have a nice setup with some seating and then an additional patio with more seating. Wifey and I ended up getting a spread consisting of the Sunny Burrito, Ham & Cheese Croissant, Lemon Bar, and a Strawberry Matcha. Everything we had was amazing and it was great fuel to start our day. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming.

A friend of mine suggested this spot for a mid-morning breakfast, and I hadn't been here in years…read moreso I agreed. I read that their parking lot fills up quickly but that there's a public lot across the street, so I parked there and crossed over. This cozy restaurant was fairly busy and we perused the pastry case while waiting in line, lots of tempting treats. My friend ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes which are topped with blueberries. A lot of their menu items have pork in it, but they were good about substituting. The burrito usually has schreiners chorizo, hash browns, cheddar, sunny egg and chili oil with side of salsa verde. I asked for avocado instead of the chorizo. We brought our own drinks so didn't order any. We grabbed a table on their patio since the sun wasn't over our heads yet. It's nice out there and I think they have some fans going to keep the air flowing, and there was also a natural breeze. Our food came out and they were plated beautifully. My burrito looked good, but it had too much hashbrowns and also there wasn't any chili oil, which was a bummer. Maybe they normally put it on the chorizo so they forgot to add it to my avocado. The egg was runny which I like: The salsa verde was delicious; I love cilantro and it had great flavors. I tried the pancakes and they were fairly rich but I liked the tart lemon flavor and the blueberries, one of my favorite fruits. This is a nice place to meet up (small groups) and I'm glad I visited again.

There's a large parking lot, but I could see parking being a challenge during peak hours. The "shack" is charming and the interior is vibrant and inviting. Seating is limited inside but there's more outside. The staff was friendly and helpful. The menu had a variety of enticing options, but I went with the staff's recommendation of El Paisano sandwich and my son ordered the El Chicano sandwich. I also got an iced almond milk latte with honey and cinnamon powder and my son got an iced Americano. My El Paisano was very tasty. It usually comes with chorizo, but I requested it without. Without the chorizo, the only protein left is an egg, which isn't enough for me so I should have asked for an additional egg on my sandwich. My latte was solid. My son liked his sandwich and Americano as well. We enjoyed sitting outside, taking advantage of the lovely patio weather we had back in May. They have a complimentary water station which was a thoughtful touch.

Some of my favorites were the lemon blueberry olive oil mini pastry, the berry crumble cake and the caramel macaroon. My son enjoyed the blueberry muffin for breakfast and although we were eating breakfast at The Coronado, the owners own both establishments, so we could bring the pastries to our table. I also left my breakfast at The Coronado to go back to Dark Hall because I learned they were going to have cinnamon rolls at 10am, which was in a few minutes! That roll was also amazing! Solid pastries and I can't wait to come back!

I ordered off the seasonal menu and I didn't end up liking my drink, it sounded good but the flavors didn't work for me. I had the strawberry fields iced latte with oat milk. Not sure what about it didn't work. However, my guy ordered a lightly sweetened iced matcha latte with oat milk and it was perfect. So, when I go back and order a drink I like better, I'll update from 4 to 5 stars. And sounds like I messed up by not getting anything from the pastry case. Next time!! Dark Hall is a cool, friendly, local vegan coffee shop I'm glad I came in to support.

I was specifically interested in their piercings (Side note, I asked if Xolo Tacos is also owned by them, but it isn't). I visited for the first time on a Sunday afternoon, just missing the late morning rush, so I had ample options to choose from regarding seating (there's couches, tables, stools)! As a first-timer who loves specialty coffees, I inquired about which drink might be the sweetest and best suited to my tastes, and through shared decision-making, we decided on the Azucar Morena! It's comprised of brown sugar and molasses, which satisfied my taste buds and coffee fix. There wasn't a wifi password sign anywhere, but upon inquiry, I received it and proceeded to chill for an hour or so before closing. I loved that they kept the door open to let in more natural lighting and fresh outside air on that serene Sunday afternoon. Overall highly recommend this coffee shop for delicious, unique specialty coffees. I can't wait to return to try more, including the pistachio espesso and cafe de olla! Or I might even stick to my azucar morena that I loved so much

Apparently the shop sources coffees and teas from local businesses. For example, coffees = Infusion Coffee Roasters in Tempe, loose leaf teas and chai = Maya Tea Company in Tucson, kombucha = Milly Moon Kombucha in Phoenix, and breakfast burritos = Lua Lua Catering. [Parking]: Mostly metered parking and I ended up parking few blocks away from the shop (plenty of metered parking spots near the intersection of E McKinley St & N 5th St). [Atmosphere]: Inside of this historic house, the wall features the work of local artists. The shop also has a cute outdoor patio area with tables. [Menu]: Apparently Matcha Latte is one of the more popular drinks here. The shop offers 12 black tea options, 9 green tea options, 8 herbal tea options, 4 white tea options, and 3 oolong tea options. *** Matcha Latte (16 oz, iced - $6.25): I was surprised that my drink was sugar free by default and I probably say yes when the staff had asked about adding sweetener. The drink was not as creamy as I thought and it was honestly a fairly mediocre drink. The drink also came with a paper straw. *** A great spot for a casual 1st date due to great vibe, but matcha latte just didn't hit the spot.
