Stopped in today to have steak and eggs and ended up being extremely disappointed. I ordered a Steak medium-rare and after waiting quite a bit of time for it to come out, it finally came out and was extremely well done. At this point I was so hungry I thought I'd try it so I cut a piece and it was flavorless, and dry. I then sent it back to the kitchen and asked for a steak rare, I figured if the cook made a "medium-rare" steak well done then maybe asking for a rare steak it would be closer to a medium-rare. But nope, it ended up being extremely undercooked. It was as if he just seared the sides for probably 30 seconds each, because from the moment I sent the well done steak back and the "rare" steak came out it took no more than 2 minutes. I will never order steak from here again. I'd like to give this review 1 Star but because the waiting staff especially the waitress that primarily helped me, were extremely nice, welcoming, and just overall gave exceptional service, this review is getting 3 Stars. read more

What a great hole in the wall spot! My buddy and I needed some rib sticking grub before hitting the slopes and this fit the bill. I did a scramble with pretty much everything and the kitchen sink in it drowned in tasty gravy. It was a massive portion that was a full meal the next morning also. I've been having breakfast at Terry's for years. My first visit, I arrived late to meet with my husband and his friends. They had already ordered so I quickly glanced at the menu and chose Terry's Scramble. When it arrived, I had a bite and was amazed at the creamy flavor. Then I looked closer to see a macaroni noodle. Then I realized the scramble not only had all the regular flavors but some mac n cheese added. OMG. I would never have thought that this was a good idea but it is one of my top breakfasts EVER. Don't come to Terry's expecting some fancy joint. Seriously, did you see the exterior? the parking lot? It's just a little locally owned cafe with some great home cooking. read more

This place was totally rockin'. A few friends and I were driving from our hotel in Spokane on New Year's Eve day and were STARVING. We happened to pass by Terry's and decided it looked like the perfect little home style hole-in-the-wall joint that would make a killer breakfast. Needless to say, we weren't disappointed. The server was super friendly, the atmosphere was casual - you could tell it was a place filled with regulars. Overall, food, prices, service, coffee - everything was top notch. If I happen to be hankering for breakfast in Spokane in the future, I'll make sure to only go here. I wish there was a place like this down in Moscow. I guarantee it'd be a popular hang-out for the mandatory crowd of old-guy coffee drinkers (and my friends/myself who look forward to being said crowd) and hang-over cure for the college kids (and my want-to-be...oh what am I saying...and myself). read more

Great place to get a homestyle country breakfast. Huge portions, friendly service, and good food. I had the eggs Benedict, which included a thick slice of ham steak in place of the traditional Canadian bacon served with hashbrowns on the side. My family had French toast and really loved it, my oldest had the biscuits and gravy and enjoyed it. We were served quickly, treated warmly, and fed well. Gotta say it was a bit of a sticker shock for a $74 breakfast though. Luckily the food was hearty enough it will last us through lunch! read more

We were attempting to eat at the Cottage Cafe, but due to the 45 minute wait we left quickly. As we searched locally on Yelp, Terry's came up and was nearby. We didn't regret it one bit. My wife and both had the Miners Scramble and it was amazing! Our little 2-year-old had toast and scrambled eggs, the brought out the toast almost immediately knowing how impatient toddlers are. Looking at the menu, there isn't anything unusually creative to choose from. There's a good selection of typical cafe grub. I chose some simple pancakes and eggs. They arrived quickly and everything was hot, but as I said, there wasn't anything spectacular about them. The pancakes weren't available with any different flavors or toppings. It was just plain old breakfast. It was fine. And this makes me wonder why so many people give five star reviews. Five stars for fine? I have never tried lunch here, but the breakfast has been good every time I visit. My family and I have eaten breakfast at Terry's three or four times. The omelettes are good, portions are large, prices are reasonable, and the service has always been good, in my experience. There are always several regulars in the place, but even as an "irregular," the waitress and I had some good banter last time. We love to find restaurants that rate low on appearance but high on food quality and customer service, and Terry's Breakfast and Lunch fits that description perfectly. Once you get past the humble front door, you see a surprisingly large and comfortable eating area. We are usually greeted at the door by the smiling waitresses (especially Diana and Ruby during weekday mornings) and offered menus soon after being seated. Most of the patrons are locals; they know where to go for a great meal, and we have yet to be disappointed. The coffee is very good, and the excellent quality and large quantity of food on the large plates always put a smile on my face. I have yet to walk out of there without a food box with tomorrow's breakfast. My favorite breakfast is the Ultimate Omelet with its six eggs (!) and lots of tasty ingredients. Don't let the ring of cars and trucks around this restaurant deter you from having a great meal; you will want to come back for more! read more

Lunch visit! I went for the traditional cheeseburger and fries. Very tasty burger - charbroiled and juicy without being greasy, on an old fashioned bun. The only complaint would be that I didn't get the two cheeses on it! Why does this boggle so many eateries? I LIKE my cheese! And for some reason they gave me a herd of pickles! EWWW - they were touching my fries! Sill delicious water and better service than I've had before. My dining companion got a HUGE cobb salad and was delighted. read more

Overall, pretty good food, huge portions, decent prices, and good service. However, the setting was so dim, dirty, and depressing that it ruined the experience. Went here with my husband after reading some decent reviews on Yelp, but we were sorely disappointed. The building from the outside looks small, dirty, and rundown. I told my husband, "Maybe it's better on the inside..." It was worse. When we walked in, it was pretty empty and we stood there awkwardly waiting to be seated when someone from the kitchen told us to grab a seat wherever. The table we sat at has syrup on it, and pieces of napkin sticking to it. The silverware next to my husband had been used--the spoon had been used to stir someone's coffee and then left on a napkin there. The floor looked like it could use a good vacuuming. And the walls were stained and dirty. There were toys piled on the floor near the back door. Our waitress was friendly and made sure our coffee was refilled. Things got better when the food arrived. My french toast was delicious, I'd say better than Denny's, and the portion was HUGE. My side of hashbrowns was good, though a bit cold in the middle. The seasoning on the hashbrowns was incredible though! I forget what my husband ordered (some kind of omelette dish) with a side of biscuits and gravy. His main dish tasted slightly better than average, but the gravy was a little bit thick/gloppy. Portions were hearty, and we both got doggy bags for leftovers (something we don't normally do as we can handle big meals). Really jarringly low quality food. The kitchen Sponge deep fried and slathered in school paste was purportedly a country fried steak. I'm not convinced. The meatloaf was sans meat, which I kind of appreciated because I'm concerned about the other generous ways Terry is making a killer carbon footprint. The hard-boiled eggs are really delivering an arid punch as my nephew is currently farting them and those wet potatoes terry calls hash browns (grey) all the way from Spokane to Portland.
