Barbi wings, oxtail, rice and peas, cabbage and Mac and cheese. $48

I don't like to give low ratings but the system here for ordering should be addressed for a better experience for the customer. When you walk up there are two lines outside. One is for walk in and the other is for people who have already ordered. The security guard tells you when it's your time to go inside to stand in another line to order or pick up. Mind you the lines inside are semi crossed and confusing, so if the guard does not walk you in and point you to the correct spot you might be in the wrong line or unknowingly cut someone. There's a large menu board but it does not have the full menu stating the cost for additional sides, drinks or combos. And if they run out of items you don't know until you're at the window. When you get to the window they have a paper menu, I'm not sure why it is not available before reaching the window which would be convenient and save time. After I stood in line I ordered and received my number. They do not call names or numbers, I was told to get in the other line after 30 minutes, bruh! The food is good but dang near lost my appetite after so much confusion and lack of organization. They accept Zelle and Apple Cash.

Itis!! Food coma!! This will be your result after eating from Tev's Kitchen. You're looking at Oxtail, Rice, Mac 'n cheese and Cabbage. I also purchased Wings, something I don't normally order. I saw the glistening sauce on a wing someone was eating, and I was curious. Don't skip on the cabbage. It's so tasty and perfecrly spicy which made it hard to stop eating. I purchased this order to go, arriving home over an hour later. I did not warm the food, and dove into the oxtail. They were small but plentiful, perfectly seasoned and the meat fell off the bone becoming addicting. I ate a couple of the tender wings and used the sauce as lipstick. Finger licking good. You'll love the wings . The Mac 'n Cheese will be your demise. It was tepid by the time I got home, but with every bite it was richer and more indulgent. Each bite was gooey, creamy and felt like a warm hug. I can only imagine how rich it would taste hot. I also loved the diversity of people in the restaurant. So many different cultures coming to share a meal. Good food brings people together. Parking is difficult but you'll find it. If you're lucky, you'll see the house with the cats and chickens.

6 stars if I could. I think about this place everyday. if someone asked me "where is the best food in LA you've ever been?" without even thinking I would say here. you will have absolutely zero regrets. absolutely phenomenal.

Jerk & garlic sauces weren't needed.

Nice covered patio area outside to eat and a few booths inside. Security guard is on site. Second visit and Tev's does not disappoint. Service was straight to the point. Enjoyed steak, mac n cheese and broccoli. A complementary cup of Koolaid was a nice treat.

Tevs kitchen is a must have when in la and looking to just hang out! food is heavy so that's why i say on a chill day lol but nonetheless very good, exceptionally good at that everything was amazing from the jerk chicken to the short ribs! The sides now they're on a level all alone just delicious!! service was great, super friendly and inviting they do triple check when using a credit card for online orders so please make sure to have the card handy and ID they do not mess around !

Caribbean soul food restaurant with delicious food and generous portions. Service was friendly The menu is small so it was easy to choose what we wanted to try. We had four platters and it was so much food-oxtail, goat curry, jerk chicken and fried (boneless) chicken. Love the bold flavors of the food here. Every platter was served with mac & cheese, rice and peas, cabbage and fried plantains plus sweet iced kool aid. The oxtail was AMAZING and the jerk chicken was some of the best I've tried. The oxtail was very tender in a savory sauce that went really well over the rice and beans. The jerk chicken was well seasoned with a great smoky flavor. The goat curry was meaty and flavorful. The fried boneless chicken was good but I loved everything rise even more. The mac and cheese is so good too and I wish my stomach had more room. Definitely recommend Tex's kitchen!

Tev's & Family Kitchen is pure comfort food done right. The plate was loaded with tender, fall-apart meat that was slow-cooked to perfection--rich, deeply seasoned, and full of flavor in every bite. The mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy, and baked just right, while the cabbage and sides balanced everything out with that homemade, soul-food touch. Portions are generous and filling, and you can really taste the love and care put into the food. Nothing feels rushed or generic--this is the kind of meal that reminds you of a family kitchen, not a fast takeout spot. If you're looking for hearty, satisfying soul food that hits every time, Tev's & Family Kitchen is absolutely worth the stop.

I'd been wanting to try this place for a while but was a little hesitant about spending $42 on an oxtail plate. I'm all for supporting Black-owned businesses, but the price gave me pause. I ordered online early and was number seven, so I didn't have to wait outside, which was definitely a plus. When I arrived, it took a few minutes to be acknowledged, and I was redirected a couple of times without clear communication. I expected an ID check, but the process felt excessive: having to show my email, ID, credit card, and then Apple Pay. I wouldn't have even been able to place the order or show up without matching info, so it felt a bit unnecessary. That said, I'm aware they do give a generous portion, and the food was good. However, I've had comparable oxtail plates in LA for less, so while I'm glad I finally got to try it, I'm not sure I'd go out of my way for it again.

Got this Cajun steak pasta from Tev's Kitchen and it was absolutely amazing. I believe it's a jerk pasta although I am not a fan of jerk I don't feel like it gave jerk flavor. I feel like it's just a very well seasoned Cajun kind of pasta. The steak was good, it wasn't chewy. It wasn't hard. The salmon was good. The salmon was really good. The sauce was good wasn't too creamy really flavorful big portion ate some for lunch dinner and then lunch the next day very pricey, it was $40. Would I have it again absofreakinlutely.

Tev's Kitchen This food is so good, it honestly reminds me of my childhood. I grew up eating Belizean food and occasionally jerk chicken, so this was everything for me. The flavors are incredible, rich, bold, and so comforting. Easily 100/10 The plates are always packed to the rim, like they do not hold back The price ranges from about $30-$45, but it's absolutely worth it. One plate can literally last you three days, which makes it such a good value. I would highly recommend Tev's Kitchen and I can't wait for more locations to open up near me Please give this a like if this was helpful

I cannot say I've had a single good chicken patty in US, but this place def makes it fresh (good) instead of reheating the frozen ones! The price points for the patty and not offering or including some sauce is a bit wild. Especially when it's so dry and mostly crust/pastry. The sauce is sold separately. IDK am I in "LA" again lol? I understand meat is expensive, but this patty would be top tier in the area, maybe even all of CA if the baker used enough meat esp considering price, added some more spices, and sauce was included. The food seemed really under-spiced and not flavored enough., Love the concepts of the dishes and there are some really unique fusion touches. Id say the decor creativity in design is carrying this. I did enjoy the coconut cucumber salad. The chef was very kind and ambiance here is really nice.

Our order came she informed us they ran out of chicken. Not sure if they make the beef patty there or not? The filling was cool there was definitely seasoning. The crust was good. Everything with the patty reminded me of a JA Patty. I'm not saying they Tower or Tasty but it's good. The brown stew chicken was begging to be a start but ended up like an extra on a movie. The cabbage I wouldn't even call it a side of cabbage more like a garnish of cabbage was missing that mark. The peas and rice I was pleased they used dried peas and not canned and I was pleased they used coconut milk but they didn't use enough and the thyme scallions ginger allspice cloves salt were all missing like a wanted poster. Now we all know oxtails price has increased from dirt cheap high as hell, but oxtails for there price need to undoubtedly be the star of your show. These weren't the star of any show. For context, I've always loved Jamaican food and even have family who make incredible, authentic dishes, but I haven't had anything close to that in a year. So my expectations? High. My craving? Even higher. I ordered the jerk chicken dinner with peas & rice and cabbage medley, and some plantains - to go. First off, the service was amazing. The woman who helped me was genuinely warm and welcoming, and you can tell she cares about what she's serving. When I ordered, she asked if I wanted the jerk sauce on the side and made sure I was okay with the spice level when I said no. That attention to detail matters. The food came out quickly (it was mid-afternoon and not busy), and everything stayed warm all the way home--which is always a win for takeout. Now let's talk about the food: The portion was generous, the flavors were on point, and everything tasted fresh. The jerk chicken had that perfect smoky, spicy kick - exactly what I was hoping for. The rice and peas and cabbage medley were a great balance to the heat, and the plantains were sweet and perfectly cooked. I did notice another review complaining about the spice level being too high... and honestly, I had to laugh a little. Have you had jerk chicken before? It's supposed to be spicy - that's the whole point. Personally, that comment is part of what made me choose this place, and it delivered. If you don't like spice, jerk might not be your thing - but I'm sure there are milder options if you ask. Bonus: they offer online ordering and delivery through Uber Eats and Postmates, which makes it even easier to get your fix. Overall, this place brought back the flavors I've been missing for so long. I'll absolutely be back - and probably sooner rather than later.

Also, it's good to patronize local businesses to benefit the community and local economy to keep more money flowing in the community. 1) The impressive scent of cooking Jerk Chicken made both of us order this iconic Jamaican dish which comes in small or large size. The Jerk Chicken must have been marinated in the complex, spicy, piquant marinade for hours to keep the meat moist at the same time meaty and firm. The fatty skin of the chicken adds a richness while the strong Mesquite smoking gives off wild, feral, primitive delight. It's the best I have ever had in South Central back in the day as well as in Leimert Park. If Jerk Chicken is your thing, I highly recommend Wah Gwaan hands down. 1a) Soft yet touch al dente cabbage seems braised in light chicken broth with a little flavourful chicken fat and/or butter and touch of sweetness. 1b) Festival is a small cruller which is highly dense like a Beignet and fried in oil scented by other frying meats. 1c) Red Beans and Rice: Rather dry, nutty and friable rice subtly flavored by the earthy legume. 1d) Fried, thick cut plantain banana slices are plain, sweet, starchy, firm to contrast against the spicy Jerk. 1e) Small ramekin of dark, spicy, fruity Jerk sauce had a Worcestershire sauce component. If the chicken wasn't flavourful enough, dipping it in the sauce will do the trick. After we had eaten and were about to leave, Chef Mark came out to greet us. He asked us to wait and presented us with a Sea Moss beverage. It was thick, viscous probably from the seaweed that had been herbed and sweetened. He highly touted Sea Moss as having healthful benefits. I believe him since healthful Japanese food also uses many gifts from the sea. If I see any benefits from Sea Moss, I will definitely return as well as satisfying my craving for his inimitable Jerk Chicken. Chef Mark creates his own magic with a knowledgeable, deft cooking style and extending his warm, perceptive hospitality and warmth to his customers. Truly appreciate his kindness and thoughtfulness. 5 stars
