(7/11/25) We're meeting our son & his fiancée here for supper. It's a tiny place in a strip mall in Denver. First impressions were that it was a takeout joint. There were only a few tables & when we arrived there wasn't anyone there. We ordered off the board behind the register and sat down at a table. The table was sticky. After a bit the food came out. I think I ordered brisket & my wife had a pulled pork sandwich. I don't remember what the kids had. They seemed to enjoy it though. The BBQ didn't stand out for me despite the numerous awards on the wall. Their sweet tea, however, was the best I've ever had. That was worth the drive from Charlotte. read more

They catered an event for us. BBQ l, smoked chicken and wings. The good quality was great. All items were fresh including the hush puppies which got rave reviews by many of our guests. Ordering was easy. Food was ready on time for pick up. We will definitely be eating here again. read more

They opened later last year and unlike most BBQ restaurants in the area, they are a hybrid featuring both Texas (Beef) and North and South Carolina BBQ styles (note there are three different Carolina styles. All use pork but NC has Eastern and Western Styles and SC has a mustard style) Had a Podiatrist appointment on Friday and for lunch, I drove up to Tex-a-lina to order take out to take home. This restaurant is in a small strip mall at the junctions of NC Hwy 150 and NC Hwy 16 Business. When you walk in, the first thing that strikes you is the decor. Very comfortable and well laid out. Staff is super friendly. Ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Vinegar based sauce on the side. (This would be an Eastern Style BBQ Sandwich). For my side, i ordered the Smoky Beans. Fast service because my order was ready in 5 minutes. Last time I ordered BBQ up here on the lake at another BBQ restaurant, I left after 30 minutes empty handed. Took about 15 minutes to drive home and that's with stopping to check the mail. Walked in and sat out to eat my lunch and I must say, I was disappointed. Pulled Pork should be moist and sweet on its own right. Granted portions are large, the meat is very dry, and the sweetness does not taste like natural smoked pulled port. The smoked beans were excessively sweet as well. The Vinegar Sauce is supposed to have a little heat, but this sauce had very little heat and gave no contrast to the meat. Not a fan of beef brisket but will probably try that one next time. They have only been there 3 or 4 months and they are still learning. Hopefully they will improve with time. read more

In Denver we need some good BBQ. This is it, y'all! Not a huge place, but has a fun atmosphere with fresh tasting, delicious food, right next to Food Lion. You order at the counter, and then take a seat at one of the 5 tables. We were there during a busy lunch time on a Saturday- so food did take a little bit to come out. The menu has traditional BBQ (pulled pork, chicken, sausage, brisket) and also had ribs on Saturday only. Other yummy things like wings, loaded fries, loaded baked potatoes and also flatbreads. Fountain drinks. The food tasted fresh. Meals range from $13 for a pulled pork sandwich or one meat platter with one side. The sandwiches and platters come with cornbread- which was soooo good! Stopped in here for dinner with my two adult boys last night. Between the three of us, we ordered every meat and most of the sides. Everything was fantastic! Cooked perfect, well smoked and seasoned. The wings with the Carolina gold were sneaky good. If you've never been, go with a group so you get to try some of it all. Owner Mark was super friendly. Kind of place I like to frequent. Great food, great service and local. They just need a beer tap. read more

This place was amazing. The cook was awesome. My daughter got the grilled cheese - it was amazing. We got a place with bbq and sausage. HOLY COW THE CHEDDAR Jalepeno SAUSAGE WAS AMAZING. The chicken wings were flavorful. Frying them after smoking didn't really add anything. The green beans were amazing! The star deducrion is because they sent me a text at 8:00 pm telling me oh order was ready. I'd picked it up at 3:14 pm. read more

This place is fantastic! We need a good BBQ place in the area, and Tex-a-lina is it. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. This is a small family business that opened recently (I've had meals from their food truck- also excellent) The owner, Marco, along with his son and a couple of other team members, are very friendly, and they treat their customers very well. My brisket platter was delicious! The meat was tender and flavorful- didn't need any sauce- but I added a bit of sweet bbq sauce anyway. The 2 sides and the awesome corn bread made a great meal with enough to bring home. I will definitely be back. read more

Well seasoned, not overly smoky, perfect Brisket. Great smoke ring. Expertly cooked. I can see why there are awards on the wall!!!

The pulled pork and pulled chicken was awesome. The potato wedges, coleslaw, and hush puppies were also fire. The fried okra unfortunately was way under cooked and not good at all. Outside of that the service was great although a bit slow, and the inside was well laid out and had a few folks eating inside. I'm definitely going to eat here again but they do need to get better about answering the phones, we called 4 times before giving up and just showing up and ordering in person. read more

Don't get anything with a bun unless your eating in. 10 minutes my bun was mush and eatable. The food is covered in excess amount of grease. Between the amount of grease and the 30 minute wait time for food that is in metal containers sitting is insane and I won't be back. read more

Nice modern clean restaurant . The food was delicious! They were fairly busy so needed to wait a bit which was ok. Food was a tad on the pricey side for take out ($35 with tip for just me and my son) but my platter portion sizes were generous which was a good thing because he was still hungry after the Buffalo chix flatbread ( it was really good as well) The staff were all nice as well. read more

I stopped in Tex-a-Lina barbecue today for a quick lunch ---- didn't even know it was there. Had a brisket sandwich that was excellent. I grew up in Kansas City and spent several years in Dallas - both places known for brisket. This brisket was comparable to the other markets - just as great. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other menu items. read more

So good! My 3rd time having Carolina style bbq. I got the loaded pulled pork fries basket. At first it tasted like I was eating a straight up campfire but the next day, oh my lord it was so good. I think I preferred the sweet apple based sauce the best with the Carolina Gold coming in second. The only thing I was not impressed with was the Mac and cheese. It looked disgusting. Sooooooo delicious. The brisket is fantastic. The cheddar jalapeño sausage is delicious. Cornbread is great. I love these guys.

We have ordered take-out from here several times and loved everything we tried! The BBQ is a little spicy and juicy. The sides are also good and my friends & husband claim they have the best Brisket they've ever ate. The staff is friendly also. I wish there was an option to order by phone call since occasionally I've had questions about the menu and after calling was told I could only order online or in person. Clean and very friendly staff. The Brisket sandwich was over the top great. Generous portion size and savory. The side salad was also good size. Best that I have had in the area. We will be back and tell others of this place. read more
