What can I say about this place. Friendly staff and owner. It's true the burgers taste like a frozen burger. But a good quality frozen burger. I don't suggest you order anything other than a burger, fries,shake / Ice cream anything , soda pop, onion rings and fried mushrooms. Everything else is mediocre. This location is near highway 5, roughly 3 miles off the exit. Found this place while browsing on yelp. It is not the best looking spot but why does it matter when you have good food? Lets start with the customer service. Some employees lack that here, the female worker who took our order didn't greet us or didn't really help with explaining the menu... But then one of the other employees who called out our food was very kind and asked if we needed anything. This place is great to grab some burgers and shakes. I got the philli cheesesteak, chilli fries and the strawberry shake. Everything was pretty damn good. The cheesesteak was quite small but it was well made. The cheese was oozing out of the sandwich. The chilli cheese fries was mediocre but it was still pretty good. The strawberry shake was bomb, great taste and it was thick. Overall, a must try burger joint with decent prices. read more

After reading everyone else's reviews I decided to try it out. OMG. Would have been better off at McDonald's. Best part of my meal was the fries, other than that it was a waste of money. I am conflicted! Their burgers are really tasty given the area and what's available, and we really like to grab a bite to eat here as a treat (especially the banana milkshakes!!) However, after going last night to eat with my boyfriend we both woke up with major stomach upset this morning. That was the only meal we had shared yesterday, so it most definitely was caused by the food there. I'm really hoping this was just a fluke, and that the next time we decide (if we decide) to try again we won't have a repeat experience. Also worth a mention that the burger patties are definitely pre-made frozen patties and are not fresh. Pass on the salads which are regular chopped ice berg lettuce and really not that great. I wish they'd use better lettuce that actually had some nutritional value for those of us that crave a healthier option but still want to eat out with our family and friends. On the other hand, it IS a burger joint, but a tasty fresh salad on the menu with all the right ingredients would be amazing. read more

Once I was introduced to in and out burgers I never thought that I would taste another burger that I liked as well because the in n out burgers or what I grew up with in the 60s and 70s... But Texas Burger Drive-In opened up in my tiny little town of Gustine, California and I figured I'd have a go as they were much closer than the in and out. I was not disappointed. Great food! Clean diningroom, friendly staff, and great prices. I had a Texas Bacon Cheeseburger, onion rings, and a chocolate shake. My husband had a double TBC, fries, and a Dr Pepper. The burgers were fresh and topped with chilled lettuce, red onions, and tomatoes. Onion rings were the real deal, no processed minced onions here. Chocolate shake was the bomb. Fries were lightly seasoned and crisp, not under/over cooked or soggy. Crushed ice for your soda and ranch dressing without having to ask to dress your fries. Good food at a good price. We will be making this a regular stop. Only regret is that we didn't give it a try before now! read more

Drove by this place for years... I have never stopped. Finally my curiosity got the best of me. The other day and I have been here twice within the past couple of weeks when I am able to go through town. The burgers and fries are awesome. Simple but good. The staff is awesome. These people get it. The young lady at the counter served this older gentleman a serious ice cream in a cone. His ice cream fell of the cone she saw this and went out side cleaned up the spill grabbed his cone and gave him another monster ice cream cone. My husband's wanted to try this place ever since we moved to Gustine; finally did. I had the hot pastrami sandwich meal and he requested his usual plain hamburger "nothing but meat and bread" which was provided without any of the confusion it usually evokes in a fast food place. The pastrami sandwich was delicious and full of meat. I found the fries plentiful but a little tasteless; definitely needed salt and ketchup to be edible. I have had food from Texas Burger 3 times now. Their burgers are tasty, I adore their crinkle cut fries, and their strawberry shake is wonderful. I recommend this place for these items. That said, I decided to try something different tonight, so I ordered their fish 'n' chips. This was a mistake. The appearance wasn't appealing - thin, uniformly flat wedges of pressed fish portions. Worse, the flavor was "off" and the meal didn't even come with any sauce to try to mask the poor quality of the fish. I only ate one bite of the fish; it was truly inedible. Still, I will be heading back there the next time I want burgers, fries, and a shake. They do a wonderful job with the mainstays of their menu, but I would caution against ordering any of their fish or seafood products. read more
