The breakfast croissants are to die for! I always get the turkey croissant. Every single time, it comes out warm, fluffy, and delicious. The donuts are really good too. They're light and not loaded with glaze/frosting like large chains. The prices for the half-dozen/dozen box are great as well. They take COVID-19 seriously: masks are required and there are clear indicators as to wear to stand and wait (6ft of course). Jennifer is the sweetest person ever! This place is amazing!! I bookmarked a while back and in honor of National Doughnut Day today, I decided to go. I am from Houston, TX and I was delighted to know there is a place I could go for a kolache and not have folk look at me like a zoo animal upon request. And I loooooove a good donut so this place does not disappoint! The place was clean and the employees were really friendly. They are open daily until about 3pm. I went in around 11:45am and I was so sad to hear they were completely out of kolaches and would not have any more for the day. Apparently, with the rain and such, they sold out really quickly today. They have every thing on the menu - from glazed, chocolate, maple bacon, croughnuts, donut holes, donut sundaes and even Texas sized donuts!! They are literally the size of your face!!! A few other reviews noted that you should leave with no less than a half dozen of donuts and I did not listen! I ordered two glazed and I'm pretty sure I bit my finger! Delish!! They were piping hot, moist and just the right amount of sweet!! They remind me of the ones from home and I cannot wait to visit again! Although I wish they were closer, the drive was not so bad. Decided to swing by here after picking up some meds at the nearby drugstore around 9am. There was already a steady stream of customers coming in and out of this shop. Picked up a dozen donuts from this place this morning. The donuts are ok but nothing special and they are pretty small. Honestly they tasted like Dunkin Donuts to me, maybe slightly better. My Co-workers just thought they were ok, but nothing special either and half of them actually used to live in Texas, so they have eaten "real Texas Donuts". Also they need to do a better job with the sprinkles on the donuts, some sides of the donuts were completely missing sprinkles. On the bright side a dozen donuts is cheaper then DD. Huge variety Having a variety of donuts is a plus. Having a 'huge' variety of donuts is, well, phenomenal. More specifically, having a 'huge' variety of CAKE donuts is phenomenal. Anyone that knows me, knows that 4/5 times I'm going with a cake donut over a yeast donut. One thing I love about their selection of cake donuts is that aside from the cake donuts, they also have the cake donuts with icing. This place is a hit! I came from the south and these donuts are amazingly fresh and creative. There are so many different donut places and I feel those places have dry and semi old donut textures but this place has fresh donuts on a daily basis! Also everyone knows donuts are in the sugary side especially if the donut is old and places just reglaze them. This place isn't too sweet and it's excellent with a cup of coffee! Another excellent plus is the friendly staff! Donut places are open early and I know some people aren't morning people but the staff is courteous and the owner is there with a smile. The consistency of their plain donuts is very light and fluffy, with a slightly chewy, almost bready texture on the inside. They're not as melty as a Krispy Kreme, but a little more substantial.. The Texas size is amusingly impressive, and I bet would make for an amazing donut burger (future menu add???) +Filled donuts - I'm not usually a fan of filled donuts, but they take the same pillowy soft glazed recipe, then wait until you order to fill them so the inside doesn't get all soggy! The lemon curd isn't super tart, and the Bavarian creme is good, but could have a little more vanilla-y flavor to it. The cake-style donuts are all on the lighter side for consistency as well, so if you like that kind of thing you will love Texas Donuts. Hmm... could anything be improved? Staying open past 5pm would be nice on weekdays and means I'd have a chance of being able to get donuts during the week (mornings are too much of a rush). Also, the selection of flavors hits all the classics, but I would appreciate a few more adventurous flavors/combinations to be available.
