Upgrading your home windows can be a scary and overwhelming endeavor. The prices of windows vary greatly, and it leaves you wondering what to do. Wonder no more. After a few estimates, and a glowing referral from a neighbor, I went with Texas Home and Commercial. The owner, Derek, is professional with a good old boy accent that makes you feel like you'd want to play checkers with him on a Sunday afternoon. Derek sent out his friendly sales rep, Liz, in a timely manner. She was quick and thorough. The next step was a phone call from Dana, an exceptionally knowledgeable window installer. Dana set up a time to do an accurate measurement of the windows I was having replaced. The windows I have had installed by Texas Home and Commercial have greatly improved my home. They reduce noise while letting more light in. Derek's team worked efficiently and cleaned up as they went. I am having more windows done soon, and would not think of using any other company. read more

I needed a larger window put in and was calling around for quotes. I called Texas Home & Commercial based on all the great 5-star reviews they got on Yelp and the fact that they work with Simonton windows. I spoke with the owner, Derek, over the phone and he was really nice and personable. Based on the impression I got over the phone, I'm thinking this might be the guy to do the job for me. So I make an appointment to have them come out to the house and give me a quote. A few days later, a sales person came out to the house. I was running a bit late so that probably set things off on the wrong foot. He gives me the hard sales pitch which really rubbed me the wrong way. Then he took out a coupon from Angie's list and said it was good only for 1 day and that I needed to make up my mind if I wanted to take advantage of the savings. First off, his quote (including coupon) was outrageously high. It was just a window enlargement with a 3x5 window. When I said I needed time to think about it and get other quotes (cause my mama told me... you gotta shop around), he got annoyed with me. He kept mentioning that they do commercial quality work. Well, I just need a residential window. My rating here is based on the pre-sales experience. I can't comment on their work. read more

Liz was our salesperson. It didn't go well. She spent over 2 hours at our house. She was slow talking, finally got around to measuring, and then finally providing a quote. She was using paper and pencil and a bad little calculator (as an accountant, that is making me real nervous). She took 20 minutes to come up with a number (ugh, slow). We then discussed the bid. WE had an Angie's list coupon. She said "it expires in three days." (This is as in " you need to decide right away.") It was all over already given her slow-ness, but it was really over then. Then she did the stereotypical salesman thing .. "well if you don't decide, then you are going to have to do this all over again with somebody else." Of course, we are thinking "no... as nobody is as slow as you!" We also were asking questions that apparently the owner only knows the answers to. She did tell us he was really busy .. as in "don't bug him." She said "don't drop in on him at the office; you must call first.." I think the owner might have a good product, but unfortunately Liz is not the best interface. We ended up going with another company that had a very straight approach, was efficient, no BS, and actually the best windows we saw. read more

REPEAT CUSTOMER I can't say enough great things about Texas Home and Commercial. They installed new windows on my house a couple of years ago and so I turned to them for siding and painting this winter. Liz is a very informed and thorough sales consultant and I contacted her directly to get the second project going. She takes the time to make sure she's got it right, which meant I was never asked to pay more than what she quoted. Dana is a great crew manager and always only a text or phone call away. Derek and the staff in the office are patient and happy to explain anything however many times you need. Also, they are just generally nice and cool people. Additionally, the work is amazing. My house looks fantastic - I was so pleased with the entire window installation, I knew ordering/installing the siding would be as painless as possible with Derek and Co, but I was also certain the end result would look great, which it does (and that the team would come as many times as necessary until I was satisfied, which they did.) I have a quirky shed in the backyard I also wanted painted and asked Miguel with the painting/install team for his ideas and I'm glad I did - it turned out appropriately quirky yet subtle. Basically they do what they say they will and help you with anything you need along the way. Which is what motivated me to post this review. read more

They finished a day early, cleaned everything up to better-than-before status, and communicated better than any other contractor we have ever used. The recent rain has been wonderful. What hasn't been so wonderful is the water that has started pouring into the house above the windows and doors. I immediately reached out to Texas Home & Commercial for help. Dennis came out to check on things, and, much to my relief, gave me an easy to understand plan of approach. He gave me an honest answer that we probably don't need to rip everything out and start over, and went above and beyond to explain how we can do the repairs ourselves (assuming we don't find any more surprises along the way). Even though we probably (hopefully) won't need to hire them to re-side our house, he asked me to follow up with him to make sure our DIY improvement goes smoothly. This company is very unprofessional! They did so much damage to our home installing new windows. We were advised to stop payment on the check and only then did they agree to try and repair the damage. We repeatedly asked the owner to come and inspect the damage and he refused. Which made us feel he has no concern for the customer at all. I am a retired Marine after 26 years and honesty trust and respect are number 1. We feel people should be warned about this company before anyone else goes through the nightmare that we went through. These people did not respect our home at all. They had to barrow our tools and our ladder. My wife walked in to find one person on the crew cooking his lunch in our kitchen without even asking. All the woodwork around our front door and windows were damaged so badly it all needed to be replaced and all they could say was that's the way we're leaving it, it's up to you to fix it. Be warned, the owner has a great sales pitch. Don't be fooled by his fake insincere friendly talk. Any reviews written about this company must have been written by the company owner or friends because their work is so horrible they do not deserve 1 star, period. read more

Not only did we have aging windows, we had windows that did not open and did not close. One week after ordering 14 Extreme windows, Dana's installation crew showed up bright and early. They did an amazing job of fitting in windows where there had clearly been settling of the foundation. They cleaned up each day of the two day job. The guys were very pleasant to have around, and I found it quite fascinating to watch the process. Texas Home and Commercial (THC) is an owner/operated firm and their dedication to customer satisfaction is priority number one. THC presented a competitive bid and ultimately was chosen to install 13 windows in our home. Everything about the entire process with THC was pleasant, beginning with the initial call to the hospitable and competent receptionist (Myrna). The owner of THC (Derek) was very compliant with my schedule and he showed up to provide an estimate at my convenience and was on time. Derek was a wealth of information and is eager to educate the homeowner about the nuances of windows. He is articulate, polite, and professional. His bid was competitive however not the lowest of the 3 bids I obtained, yet we ultimately decided to proceed with THC due to the earnestness of Derek, the company owner and the generous warranty he provides on his windows. Although we have only had the windows for one month now, it seems the quality of the windows is rock-solid and the installation process was...dare I say it?...almost enjoyable! Derek employs his own dedicated crew headed by Dana that was punctual, professional, empathetic to our needs, paid attention to detail, and polite. What more can be asked for? We had a great experience with this company. We shopped for weeks and got many quotes. A lot of what we were told by the different companies left us confused about what they were offering. Texas Home and Commercial helped explain all the details and features of windows. They also had the innovative idea to use a slider window for one of the bedrooms, something no one else offered. This was a great idea because we saved on the price of buying two windows and met egress code. The installation was professional. They showed up on time and didn't leave a mess. There were a few small defects with the windows and they promptly replaced those parts. Really a pleasant experience and we are happy the windows are excellent quality. It was a great investment I should have done years sooner. I would recommend this company to everyone. After working through the process of getting windows replaced it can be a confusing experience. We could not be more please with the quality of the windows and the doors. Our old windows were drafty and our home was cold every winter. Great company! Had them out for a consultation and we thought we already knew what we wanted. Other companies had just given us quotes based on our specs. Turns out our plan was awful and he explained to us for over an hour the things we could do differently to improve it. We ended up using their windows (which have been awesome and very energy efficient and soundproof) and went with a contractor they recommended (JP construction for the construction and install). We couldn't be happier with that decision and the result. It's almost perfect! If we not contacted them, we would have ended up with something very inferior for about the same price. read more

I can't recommend this company with enough stars!!!!! My husband is a salesman and very choosy while I am very picky about every detail. The salesman from TH&C knew his windows. He sold us the most incredible windows for the best price. Derek was always ready with the answers and great customer service. Dana and her crew were awesome and did a great job on a tricky installation. The price was so good and the quality so amazing, we had every window in our house replaced. While we were used to paying $450 a month for our AC bill in the summer, with these new windows, I pay around $70-100 in the hottest months now! My husband passed away unexpectedly shortly after the installation was complete. Derek and company worked with me on any follow up questions or needs I had. Now, two years later, I called Derek for new screens, because a couple were torn by accident, and Derek offered them to me for free! Great company all the way around. I recommend them to everyone I know. They even have the ability to help me with a new home window installation in another state.
