We came in on a Sunday evening at 645pm. It was nearly empty. This should have been a clue. They sat us down and brought water. Then we didn't see a server for almost 15 minutes. It was slow but we assume it was a slow Sunday so they sent staff home. I wanted a steak but the smallest they have is a 12oz tri tip. So I settled for the brisket baked potato. The meat was more pot roast than brisket and honestly tasted like it just came out of my mom's Crock Pot. For $19.99 it was minimal at best. My companions had the Becky's Bowl with carne asada. The meat was crunchy and odd. The rest of the salad was good so they just picked out the meat. Again, for $22, no protein is kind of pricey. The place is okay ambiance wise. It was not Southern enough to feel Texas but not modern enough to feel country chic. Save your cash and pick another place in downtown Temecula. As I walked up I saw a banner advertising $5 margaritas. Gonna have to try that. We were then immediately greeted by the host and subsequently seated. The menus provided were easy to read and had average prices. The bbq selection is exactly what you would expect at a place like this. There's brisket, tri tip, ribs, pulled pork and more... Our friendly server introduced herself and took our orders. Tri tip sandwich, brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, five big beef rib plate and zucchini sticks to start. Let's not forget the margarita, LOL. The margarita...that's a great $5 margarita. On the rocks and hand made. I wanted more than one. Our zucchini was served with three dipping sauces. The zucchini themselves were large, we're talking fork and knife large, not over breaded and made just right. On to the food. It was ALL great !!! The meat fell off the large meaty rib bones, the pulled pork, brisket and tri tip were all tender and tasted amazing. There was plenty of meat in the sandwiches. On Father's Day, Sunday, June 16, 2024, my daughter and I visit ed Texas Lil in Old Town Temecula California. We ordered Catfish and intentionally served Swai. When we asked the server about it, she checked with the chef and was told that Catfish and Swai were the same. Which is Not true. In the market, catfish generally cost at least $4.00 more a pound than Swai. When we spoke to the manager (Jeanette) she confirmed that they are intentionally selling Swai as Catfish and offerd us a discount, oppose to taking it completely off the bill and refused to discuss the matter any further. They are intentionally cheating their customers. To say the least, I will never come back here again. However, our server, Desiree, was very, very accommodating. We had the fried pickles with Texas Lil's own sauce with a kick of horseradish. This was followed by the meaty beef ribs and baby back ribs and tasty sides of beans, corn, coleslaw and potato salad. My first thought when our plates were brought over was that the prime rib was very small. It was alright. The taste was good, just that the portion was not as small as I had expected.
