What a disappointment since my last visit here. My wife and I always looked forward to making the Texas Roadhouse in Amarillo our primary stop on our way from Vail to Dallas. We have done so 3 times a year since 2009. Previous experiences were all very good and at least rated 3 stars. This year we stopped on our way back to Colorado the day after Christmas and were sorely disappointed. First off the restaurant was cold...we mentioned this to our server and he informed us the thermostat was turned as high as "they were allowed" (???? WTH?) and it was cold not just for us but others in the restaurant were eating in their ski parkas???. Steaks were mediocre at best best and for the price ($55.00) I will take my business elsewhere....you could have a better quality meal at Lone Star or K Bobs for that matter....lost customers have the final economic vote. I can't believe I'm giving a chain restaurant such a high rating but wow this place delivers. Not only is the staff always attentive, friendly and accommodating to substitutions, but the steak is quite tasty and prepared exactly as you order (I love medium rare but find I usually have to order rare to get it close to right at chains, but this place knows how to truly cook it to order). The kids menu has a good variety and the rolls are addicting (probably because they are slathered in a sweet butter). Our first visit the manager came personally to greet us and gave us 2 free bags of the peanuts they serve along with coupons for free appetizers for the following visit. My favorite steak house in Amarillo. They consistently put out a good steak. 10oz ribeye is my favorite and the Blue Moon is always cold! House salad is what it's supposed to be and the rolls are addictive. They have Call-Ahead which is a good idea on busy nights. My husband and I stopped to have a late lunch today I am so glad we did as we walked in everyone was very friendly sat us down quick and our server Jaden was very friendly and not only friendly but made sure our drinks were filled and checked on us often making sure everything was good he rocked Thank you Jaden for an awesome experience and for making our lunch there the best!!! We travel thru here every year and stay at the hotel right across the parking lot. We eat here every time and quite enjoy the food. Tonight, I had a steak (filet) that was cooked perfectly and was very tender and tasty! The service was fast and the food came out pretty quickly and piping hot. But even more impressive was, as we were leaving, every employee that we passed (probably 10), thanked us for coming and wished us a good evening!! It was amazing!! read more

Absolutely the worst possible experience ever at a restaurant. We got horrible food and complained and the manager was belligerent and abusive and we ended up running out of the restaurant trying to escape the situation and his unprofessionalism, we will never back the food was horrible they served my husbands hamburger on stale white bread! The steaks and prime rib are good. I am not a fan of loud music and a nightclub atmosphere at a steakhouse, though. The whole peanuts on the floor gag is really not sanitary....food on the floor draws unsavory types of vermin. I've had more than a few people in Amarillo say this is their favorite steakhouse. The steak is not THAT good, and you can readily find the same quality at other chains in town workout blaring Country music. Yes, I know, "Road House". Bam who wants great food? Then look no farther this place has it. The chicken , is amazing the mashed taters , are mind blowing the waitress was great with keeping the drinks filled. I love this restaurant and enjoy their variety of steaks and other food items. The atmosphere is great and I love their peanuts. The steaks are large and you can even pick your own steak out before being seated. This is the only restaurant that I don't have to add anything (sauces or salt and pepper) to my steaks because they're always cooked perfection. The sides are good and I especially enjoy their salads and the fresh rolls with cinnamon butter. Happy Hour is a great time to go if you enjoy margaritas and/or a variety of beers. Got in a bit late since we were driving from Tennessee heading back home to California. We came in around 9:30p and they closed at 10p we definitely cut it close. The staff was friendly. Our waiter Eli was very attentive even though he was going around cleaning up for the night. The food came out fast and it was beyond tasty!! We love coming here whenever we drive through from our vacations to and from Tennessee and California. Will definitely be back on our next road trip! read more

I wish I could give this place 4 starts but our server who I keep anonymous (because I don't want to put him on blast) was less than pleasant. I'm not from Amarillo so the only reason we picked this place was because it was recommended as being kid friendly and they apparently sing happy birthday along with a wooden pony ride for the kids and that sounded like fun for my 2 year old birthday boy. Well we never got that birthday celebration. We went out to dinner to celebrate his birthday and it never happened. Our server seemed very annoyed with us and straight up just started ignoring request (to include signing happy birthday to my son). My kids were at the point of getting restless so we just left. When I found my server to tell him we had to go and forget the happy birthday he didn't apologize and honestly didn't really seem to care and continued punching in his order. Thanks Roadhouse for making my sons birthday dinner a memorable disaster. I understand you guys were busy but last year my sons father was deployed and this year he was away for training missing every birthday my son has had thus far. This place needs to come into the 21st century and provide Wifi. It's the only major restaurant I've been to in years without it. The server said the owners were old and thought the patrons need to talk to each other and not on their phones. Not everyone is with a bunch of family. Food and service was OK. We travel all over the U.S. have eaten at many Texas Roadhouses. They are the only restaurants that I'll order a steak. Only the 20oz bone in ribeye, medium rare. I have never received one less than perfect. This Roadhouse was really having a bad day. There were six of us. Three ordered the 10oz ribeye. One med well and two med rare. All came out med well. Soooo, two were sent back. Both tables on either side of us also sent back steak because it wasn't cooked correctly. Two of us had the 20oz ribeye and they were both great.
