It was our first time at Tahoe Joe's and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was a busy Thursday night, so our food took a little while to arrive, but everything was worth the wait. I especially loved the BBQ wood-grilled chicken. My party also ordered the 10 oz Joe steak, which was delicious, and the ribs. Overall, we all really enjoyed our dinner. I'm looking forward to going back and trying their happy hour since they have some really solid deals.

This is a standard steak house they have changed a lot of things up on their menu, the service is pretty decent I believe they were under staffed on the day my wife and I went they did a good job on keeping up with all the costumers, the food is good not the best they took away from their dessert menu they only serve cheesecake and pie. Now they no longer have the big piece of chocolate cake The restaurant is still very nice and decorated and has history of Lake Tahoe. This restaurant isn't my first choice for a steak house here in Bakersfield.

Ordered the ribeye, cooked medium. Atmosphere was great. Sat at the bar party of two. Was assisted right away. Ordered the ribeye, cooked medium. I have had a more flavorful ribeye but everything else was good. Bartender was very attentive. Will give a 2nd chance. Place was very clean as well.

3rd visit, this time, my grandson tried their smoke house bbq burger. He loved it. He said the bacon was delicious, he crispy onions really added to it and the barbecue sauce was the best.

Ordered a citrus chicken salad with postmates and there was no oranges or cucumber...but especially no oranges!! It's a citrus salad and I was craving it :( no desire to even eat it.. Spent 35 bucks for nothing

    Beer arrived 3/4 full.

Had not been here in a while and decided to stop for dinner. I ordered a beer and it arrived not even topped off. Then the bread arrived which was nice warm and good, but one of the bread plates was dirty with caked break stuck to it. I ordered a $16 burger; not worth it IMO. It had no taste and a tomato the size of a pickle lol; however, i will say the fires were nice, crispy and crunchy. The Joes steak came medium but didn't have much taste and was a bit chewy. The service was good overall, but not sure I will be back.

We came to Tahoe Joes to try their All day happy hour specials. We tried almost all of their specials and they did not disappoint. Everything was so delicious. We loved the fish tacos and probably could have ordered more. The railroad camp shrimp was amazing and very tasty. The sliders were good too. I didn't try the calamari but my husband loved it. Happy Hour is a must try. Service was excellent and it wasn't loud which was good because you could actually hold a conversation.

This place has a SOLID HAPPY HOUR and that makes me very happy since I live close by. Located at the marketplace, super easy to find right off of among. This place really has good food for the prices and the portions are big. I've come by for Happy Hour a few times now and it's always great. Service is always on point and I love how quick the food is out after ordering. The happy hour menu is a little small but very good nonetheless. I usually go with the nachos, cabin fried and the railroad shrimp. All 3 dishes are a 9 out of 10 in my opinion, a must when you are here. Food is always hot and fresh and fully of flavor so you literally can't go wrong. Overall very happy every time I come here. Thank you Tahoe Joes for consistently being so great. If your in the area, make sure to check them out. Till next time.

Food was really good even though they slightly messed up on my wife's chicken order... she ordered without the sauce on top, but they did rectify... I ordered pork chops... little dry and over cooked. The service was great Inside was super nice and clean.

Nobody plans to spend an evening in Bakersfield. You pass through it on the way to somewhere else…read more-- Mammoth, the Sequoias, the long flat grind up the 99 to Sacramento -- and if you stop at all, it's for gas or a bathroom or because your BMW's brakes have decided, somewhere around the Grapevine, that they'd rather not. Thank you, Weatherford BMW of Berkeley, for the near-death experience and, inadvertently, for one of the best nights out I've had in years. Stranded and waiting on repairs, we checked into The Padre, the only hotel in Bakersfield that feels like someone with a subscription to Dwell had a hand in it, and set out walking through a downtown that time has treated with more kindness than reputation suggests. There's a Woolworth's luncheonette still hanging on. There are old brick facades and wide sidewalks and the particular quiet of a Central Valley evening when the heat finally breaks. And then, on 18th Street, there is Tiki-Ko, and suddenly you are no longer in Bakersfield at all. You are, instead, inside someone's magnificent obsession. Tiki-Ko is a proper tiki bar -- not a tiki-themed cocktail lounge, not a place that bought some bamboo at a craft store and called it atmosphere, but a genuine, committed, floor-to-ceiling shrine to mid-century Polynesian fantasy. The carvings are real. The lighting is correct -- which is to say, barely there. The mugs are serious. There are pufferfish lamps and carved totems and the whole glorious taxonomy of tiki ephemera, accented here and there with a skate-culture edge that keeps it from feeling like a museum. It's reverent without being precious. The drinks are the real thing. Mai Tais built with actual orgeat. Zombies that earn the name. The bartenders make them with the kind of care and enthusiasm that tells you this isn't a gig -- it's a calling. They want you to be here. They want to talk about rum. They want you to try the Painkiller. In a city that most Angelenos regard as a punch line, somebody built a world-class cocktail bar and filled it with joy, and the regulars clearly know it. You will not plan a trip to Bakersfield. But if you find yourself there -- by mechanical failure, by accident, by the peculiar mercy of a bad brake job -- walk downtown. Find the tiki bar. Order a second round. Stay longer than you intended. Bakersfield has been underestimated, and Tiki-Ko is the proof.

Little hidden gems. Lighting is dark with bits color and neon popping through. The Bar Top curves around the bar- there are two booths that seat 5-6 and two short tables next to them- one seats 4- the other will comfortably seat two. There are a few bench style seating areas at the front with some short coffee tables. Think- skater tiki bar. The drinks were good- small menu if you're not sure what you want or are new to tiki. Both sides of the menu are the same menu. There are some nice mocktail options as well- you don't see that often. The service for me is mixed- it wasn't busy- steady but not busy- 1/4 full. I ordered two drinks to start for our table- (no cocktail servers here/not unusual for a small Tiki bar) I asked for a soda water- the bartender looked at me without a word- popped open a can of soda water and walked away. When he walked back by, I asked for a glass of ice- he said nothing and I got an eye-roll huff. I almost left. I don't think providing a glass with ice to pour your canned room temp soda water in, is too wacky an idea to be perturbed by the request. The female who took the order was friendly, smiled and was professional. We got a third cocktail- the Mai Tai. The grumpy bartender was friendlier this time. So, that helped. Maybe he felt overwhelmed and I threw off his groove by asking for water- then a glass... either way- being annoyed wasn't cool. The music.... Wasn't Tiki- it threw off the "Tiki Vibe" and made it feel typical small local bar that serves only Tiki drinks with some Tiki decor. It didn't take you to the land of Tiki- disappointed. Drinks were good.

The chicken sandwich had a great crispy bite and was packed with flavor, while the paneer sandwich was fresh, satisfying, and just different enough to make it memorable. The veggies in both the sandwiches tasted crisp and fresh, and the bun was nicely toasted. The french fries were super crispy and very seasoned, exactly the ones you keep eating even when you're already full. What also stood out was the atmosphere and the people behind the place. Karen, the owner, is genuinely sweet and welcoming, and you can tell this business is built with care and pride. Supporting local spots like this matters, especially when good food and good service come together the way they do here. If you're thinking about going, today seems like a great time since they don't appear to be very busy. If you can't make it today, a weekday visit would probably be your best bet, since weekends seem to be the busiest. Does a Bar Have to Keep You Safe in California? When you're a patron at a bar, have the same rights as you do at any other place of business in California. What this means, in the context of a negligent security incident, is that the bar's management, staff, and owners have a: * Duty of care to keep you and other patrons safe Under California law, the bar also has to take reasonable steps to do this. Most of the time, this includes doing things like having surveillance cameras, keeping up with maintenance and other things around the property, controlling access to the property, and taking care of any known hazards on the property. When this doesn't happen, incidents can come up where you or other patrons get hurt. At that point, someone is legally responsible-or liable-for covering your injuries and damages. The starting point of any potential legal claim involves establishing the following: * Breach - When the bar's management or staff neglect to take sufficient precautions to ensure safety, especially when they are aware of potential risks, it means there was a breach of their duty to you. * Predictability - If the bar's management or staff reasonably could have anticipated the possibility of negative events, such as altercations or assaults, they ought to have prepared for such things. * Causality - If their breach to implement adequate security measures directly results in harm to you, the owner or manager bears liability for the injuries you suffered. * Harm - Genuine injuries or damages must be demonstrably linked to the lax security measures. In simpler terms, there must be a clear cause-and-effect relationship between the negligence and the harm you've suffered.
