This place is new in this town. Actually only steak house here. I ate there after it opened it was ok. But like any new place it takes a while to season your cooks. I say it has improved greatly. While on a business trip to Elizabeth City, my wife and I were looking for a comfortable place to have dinner after discovering that many of the local restaurants were closed on Sunday evening. We almost always prefer to support local restaurants when we travel, but with our options limited, we decided to give this place a try. I'll admit our expectations weren't especially high, but the food pleasantly surprised us. Both of our steaks were cooked perfectly and were flavorful, and everything we ordered was enjoyable with the exception of the sweet tea, which missed the mark. Unfortunately, the service was a completely different story. Our server, Kierstin, seemed either to be having an exceptionally bad night or simply wasn't suited for a customer-facing role. She was inattentive, unfriendly, and provided one of the poorest dining experiences we've had in quite some time. At one point, I ordered an amaretto sour and was told they were unable to make it, which was surprising given that they appeared to have a fully stocked bar. It left me wondering whether she had even checked with the bartenders. If I were rating the food alone, it would easily earn a 4 out of 5. The service, however, was a 1 out of 5, which brings my overall rating down to a 3. I don't usually mention employees by name in reviews, but in this case I hope management takes it as constructive feedback. With a little coaching--or by reevaluating whether she's in the right position--future guests could have a much better experience because the kitchen is clearly doing its part. We come from the beach to shop and eat from time to time. We have stopped at Yexas Roadhouse in the past so I wanted to try them again. Service was spot on! Nicole was pleasent and personal. After reading the reviews, I was a little hesitant to eat here. I'm happy to report that the most important part of the experience--the food--was delicious. The customer service, however, definitely needs some work. We were returning from a busy afternoon in Virginia Beach and decided it would be great to pick up dinner early. We placed an online order and was given a pickup time of 4:34pm. We arrived around 4:30 and the website said the food wasn't ready and to wait in the car. After watching a handful of other folks get out of their cars and return with food, one of us decided to try the same. Long story short, our food wasn't ready until after 5:00pm. Now for the good part--the food! We ordered the family tenders with a house salad, green beans, steak fries, and rolls. The tenders were well cooked and had a seasoned breading. Personally, I was impressed with the green beans, which had been prepared with bacon and onions, and were absolutely delicious. Steak fries and salad were great, and can anyone go wrong with those rolls? All in all, I'd absolutely order here again. I'd just allot some extra time for waiting for my food. read more

So last night was an interesting experience. Overall everything was "fine" but nothing was exactly good. Our fried pickles which are normally so good and taste fresh seemed to be "old". Like they'd been sitting in a hot light for a few hours. Maybe not true but that's what it seemed like. Everyone else's entrees looked good, but I ordered a medium rare steak and what I got was less that rare. It was literally the deepest brightest red I've ever seen. This review was for this restaurant 9-21-24 I hesitated to leave it but now after another trip that was "OK" At best. Here is the review. On Saturday morning my wife and I decided to try out the newest restaurant in town, skipping lunch and jumping onto the waitlist just added to the excitement. Although Texas Roadhouse has been open for about a month now, they still seem to be packed nightly! We had no trouble finding a spot to park and got in line with everyone else. The outside of the building adds to the excitement and experience, playing classic country and honky tonk. Its style is spot on and adds to the legendary character. After the obligatory amount of time passed my wife and I were shown to our seats, our table was a little dirty and the floor was covered in trash. The appetizer plates were dirty and there was no silverware, but all things considered it was no big deal. After Al a busy restaurant is a good restaurant for the customers and the employees. We ordered our drinks and a blooming onion, the drinks arrived rather quickly along with the replacement plates. We went ahead and ordered our dinner, I ordered a 16oz sirloin rare Pittsburgh style, baked potato and some broccoli, along with a side of horseradish and a side of sour cream. My wife ordered a 8oz sirloin medium rare,baked potato and mixed vegetables. Our waitress took our orders and that was the last time we saw her for the next hour or so. Our blooming onion came and looked delicious! We were both playing a little trivia game and began to dig in. The crunchy parts were good, but sadly the onion. Was both over cooked and undercooked. We ate what we could and did enjoy the sauce, It's a spicy sauce that pairs well with the onion. Unfortunately for me I didn't foresee the lack of refills in my future. Our steaks came out within 15 minutes of our arrival so great speed, The steak was cooked to the right level and was crisp and blackened on the outside. The flavor of the steak was pretty good also, I did lack my sour cream and horseradish sauce. I made due, eating my baked potato and waiting for the waitress to return so I could get something to drink! Alas! My hope was in vain! My steak was good, it was suitably tender and the flavor was good. My wife's steak on the other hand was, how can I put this? More of the consistency of pâté that had been grilled somehow, it was a disappointment and to be honest I've never eaten a steak that had that consistency and texture. She subsided on her potato and vegetables, filling her belly with the sides and a legendary disappointment. We waited about 30 minutes after our food arrived to begin looking for our server, we had seen the excitement of two Texas style birthdays and one round of dancing! What we had not seen was our waitress, not wanting to be rude and just walk up to the waitress stand, I waited for a manager to pass and I stopped her to let her know our concerns, I had to inform her that I was thirsty and had not seen our waitress in about half an hour, but more of an issue than my desiccated mouth was the repulsive texture of my wife's steak, it had the consistency on boiled chicken liver, mealy and squishy texture that was completely unpalatable. After telling her she looked at me blankly and I had to hint to her about payment, I asked wether I should just pay here or should I wait for a check, she stared at me intelligently. I had to inform her that would not be paying for the steak that was brought out for my wife. Now, I understand that a busy restaurant can be a stressful job, and management is doubly difficult. But there has to be a point in which you slow down and make sure your customers are happy, or at least alive. Instead of having the meal gratis as I would expect I was told that the steak would be removed from my check. Not the sides. I know it's a trivial thing but when you as the manager take matters into your hands you could a least not charge for the "legendary"mixed vegetables. Raw broccoli and some slightly steamed carrots don't break the bank but I digress. She came back to show me how she removed the 8oz sirloin from my check , with some apologies and asked us to try the place again. We were gracious and thankful. She left us to pay on the kiosk at the table. As I began to pay I came to the tip screen, and instead of allowing me to discuss tip with my wife in private the manager returns with the waitress, like a hound who wanted to make up for piddling on the floor. Feeling extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed I just tipped 20% and called it a night. As I sit here writing this review my mouth is still dry, although I had the manger at the table I was still not offered another drink, so I recommend this restaurant to all those who are of the toothless nature and those who perhaps bring with them a canteen of water. Texas Roadhouse has always been my go-to restaurant when I'm on the road. I can count on them for a good-quality steak at a reasonable price without wasting much time. I've had dinner at countless Texas Roadhouse locations across the country, and they've always delivered--until I visited this particular location. Unfortunately, I've now been disappointed twice here, and it's the only Texas Roadhouse where I've ever had such a terrible experience. On our most recent visit, we arrived at 8:22 and were seated almost immediately. It took us a little time to figure out what we wanted--my wife was debating between a salad and a burger--but once we ordered at 8:38, the wait for food was unreasonably long. Our meals didn't arrive until 9:10. Nearly 50 minutes from walking in the door to being served is unacceptable, especially since I've come to rely on Texas Roadhouse for quick, efficient service. What made it worse was seeing other tables around us experience the same delays. When the food finally arrived, it didn't match the quality I've come to expect. I ordered a 16-ounce ribeye, my usual choice, but it lacked the flavor and tenderness I've enjoyed at other Texas Roadhouse locations. The overall quality of the steak was poor, and it left me wondering what's going wrong at this location. This wasn't a one-time issue, either--the ribeye I had on my previous visit was just as underwhelming. Another strange issue was being served my mac-n-cheese with a plastic spoon instead of the usual metal one. It might seem like a small thing, but it's details like this that add up to an overall lackluster experience. The atmosphere was the only thing that met expectations--it's the lively, welcoming environment Texas Roadhouse is known for. But atmosphere alone isn't enough to keep me coming back. Slow service, poor food quality, and a lack of attention to detail make this location a glaring exception to the otherwise excellent reputation Texas Roadhouse has earned. Let me preface with this...I RARELY write a review for a chain restaurant. I usually want to focus on local restaurants that don't get a lot of deckplate support and don't have the bandwidth for more advertisement. With that said...this TR is the cream of the crop. My gauge metric for any "steak house" is whether they can properly cook a steak. Not just the seasoning, but is there a perfectly even cook throughout. Most have no concept on when to flip the steak, resulting in an uneven cook with one side usually more cooked than the other. One other nearby TR (ahem...the one near Sam's Circle in Chesapeake) has botched every steak I ordered from them, making me almost write off visiting any other TR. So when we received a TR gift certificate, I was doubtful that we would actually be able to use it. But this TR has caused me to eat my own words. Having eaten here twice now, both of my steaks were cooked to absolute PERFECTION. Not only evenly cooked but seared just right. The first time was an impressive medium, the next a nicely seared medium rare. Kudos to those cooks. You guys need to provide some training to a few other TRs (ahem...the one near Sam's Circle in Chesapeake). And the staff actually looks like they believe the back of their shirt: I love my job"! Ordered take out today due to having a busy evening. Usually we dine in, this was the first time trying take out. My fiancé and I ordered bbq grilled chicken with a sweet potato and a bacon cheeseburger with fries with a sweet tea to drink. All the food was good but the orders were completely wrong. The bbq chicken was just a plain chicken breast and my bacon cheeseburger burger was missing the bacon following all of that the tea we were given was unsweet tea. Not very impressed with the takeout, didn't notice any of these problems till we were home so it was too late to go back. read more

We just had the worst time at Texas Roadhouse in Elizabeth City, NC. My husband's salad showed up okay, but my three kids and I were left hanging for over an hour, and when our food finally came, it was all straight up cold. Like, not lukewarm, cold. My medium rare steak had no juices, one kid's chicken and mac n cheese was nasty and cold, and the other's burger and corn weren't any better. Then the manager Denice starts yelling at our server right there in front of us about it, which was so uncomfortable and out of line. We've seen her pull this on staff before, and on our way out she was tearing into another employee in the kitchen. She comped my steak, but we still paid for the rest of that junk just to bail. She's an awful manager who needs to be fired ASAP--the way she treats people in front of customers is crazy, and I hate to think what happens when no one's watching. I'd like to start by saying I would rate my experience with this Texas Roadhouse a 2.5/10. I have been here twice. Once with a group of five at a booth table and once picking up food I ordered online. The first time I went they sat us down after 20 minutes even though we had a reservation. The waitress we had was very sweet but was not trained very well (not her fault she was a total sweetheart). Our food arrived after a very long wait but she had forgotten to give us silverware so we couldn't eat our food until the server who brought our food to us came back. The steak was okay, the rolls and cactus bloom were delicious, but the corn and mashed potatoes were unsatisfying. The ambiance was nice, like any other Texas Roadhouse. The second time (when I had ordered my food online) the website said my food would be ready at 7:57 after I ordered around 7:10. I did not receive my food until 8:30. The people working the window where you picked up your food were all very nice though. Bottom line: The rolls and cactus bloom are good. The service is slow and you wont get a table for an hour ESPECIALLY if you don't have a reservation. And be prepared to wait in line even if you ordered your food online. read more

We went to Texas Road house after church yesterday and it was fabulous! We were there no longer than an hour and the food was perfect! It's nice to finally have a real steak house in the area. Our server was Amanda and she was very attentive and was right on top of things. Steaks were perfect both medium rare and the mushrooms on top were huge ! I'd like to start this review by mentioning I visited Texas Roadhouse Elizabeth City during their first week of business, which I am so grateful to have experienced! New restaurants always have their hiccups - but it's about the overall dining experience that I determine my reviews on. First impressions: the restaurant was packed! Business was going, yet the restaurant was still very clean and tidy. My fellow diners and I joined a waitlist online, so by the time we arrived inside, we were immediately seated. I highly recommend doing this, especially because we weren't expecting it to be this busy around 2-3 pm. Our service wasn't bad, I wish I could remember our servers' name. He did seem a bit nervous which could also be attributed to the restaurant just recently having opened. Our food came out a lot quicker than expected which was HUGE. As if it couldn't get better, my steak was done exactly how I asked (which is usually hard to come by with most Texas Roadhouses unfortunately). I asked for a medium rare steak and it was perfectly red in the center and very bouncy (I don't know the words to describe steak - my apologies). The flavor was also amazing. One of my fellow diners mentioned a dislike for the saltiness of the steaks, but I tend to like more salt so this was great. The fries were nicely seasoned and the mac and cheese wasn't too bad! Lastly, the rolls were everything I dreamt they'd be. Now, for some other notes. I will preface this section by saying every restaurant will have areas to improve and for this being their first week, they did an excellent job! I could tell throughout my experience that everyone was trying their best to maintain a busy restaurant and seeing that effort means a lot to diners. First, the music was very loud. This caused a lot of other diners to have to speak over top of the music which made the entire restaurant even louder. I love to have music playing in the background when I eat! I have dined in places where the music was way too low to the point where it was a bit awkward, and at this particular restaurant the music was a bit on the louder side. I'd love for the music level to have that nice balance of not too soft, but also not too loud that you have to speak over it. Next, one of my fellow diners had to ask 3 different times for silverware before it was brought out. Because the restaurant is fairly new, I am assuming they are still navigating inventory and how much of one thing they need on hand. The dishwashers also could've been backed up from a big chunk of people leaving at once - who knows! There are a lot of moving parts in a restaurant that this could be attributed to multiple things. However, we did have to ask several times without any reassurance or explanation as to why it was taking a while. This would have given us more of an understanding of the situation. Lastly, I was in a party of 5 and each bread basket only had one butter included. No problem! However, we did ask for more butter to account for our party of 5 and it took a very long time for those to be brought out. Again, they might not have prepared enough for the day or they could have been backed up, who knows! I just think this is worth mentioning. Overall, our Texas Roadhouse Elizabeth City experience was a positive one. For a new restaurant, they pretty much had all of their ducks in a row. There are still some wrinkles that could be ironed out, as any new restaurant has. I wouldn't say this review is a direct reflection of their service as of this moment, because they are still learning and training. I will say that the restaurant is supported by a team of people that love what they do and that is all that matters to us! I can't wait to revisit and see where they improved from my last visit. My dog thoroughly enjoyed the filet medallions that were originally intended to be my dinner. The "filet medallions" are neither filet mignon, as the name implies, nor are they medallions. They are chunks of relatively tough meat with visible tendons - filet mignon lacks tendons... Anyway, I ordered it medium rare, and it came out almost raw, so I sent it back and 15 minutes later, after completing the balance of my meal, it arrived well done. Everything else about the meal, salad, steak fries and green beans was fine. Service was good and the place was very busy. I don't have a problem with the steak coming out under-cooked but was very disappointed in the quality of the meat. If it had been actual filet, I would have had no problem eating it rare, but this was too tough to chew. To be fair, the price of this entre is only $21.00, so the old adage, you get what you pay for proved itself true again. I'm not sure whether I'll go back or not. I went to Texas Roadhouse in Elizabeth City, NC on the evening of November 5, 2025, and was totally disappointed after spending over $75. I placed my order for a steak and potato and Macaroni/Cheese. They were out of Macaroni and cheese. One of the parties at my table got chicken with cheese topping. The cheese was not melted. My steak was so tough I could not eat it. I took some home and tried to eat it for lunch and it was worse. One thing I couldn't understand was they put all of their customers in a corner of the restaurant, including us. It was noisy and uncomfortable. I went to the restroom while I was waiting for our meal and noticed there was lots of empty tables in another section. Service was so-so. I asked for refill of tea and did not ever get it. I went to the same Roadhouse 2 or 3 weeks earlier and they were out of baked potatoes. The food was absolutely horrible ribs were so dry that they must have been reheated and then refrigerated again and again 100 times almost dust it was so dry. Steak was ordered medium rare was served well done worst cut end piece butcherd to death rice with shrimp tasted like it was run through the dirty dish water BBQ chicken over cooked and dry as the ribs only thing eatable was the ceaser salad paid 120 dollars to eat salad worst food I have ever been served in a restaurant in my 52 years. I've attempted three times to get in and eat at this restaurant. Two times they were just so busy I wasn't able to walk through. Last night, I walked in a few minutes before five and I was told there was a 10 to 15 minute wait. After sitting there for almost 25 minutes I walked to the front and asked if they had forgot about me. She told me no that they were getting ready to seat me And then I hadn't left my phone number for them to text me. She never asked for my phone number. I would've gladly given it to her. This whole time I watched people walk right in and get seated. I was a single diner. I'm sure that's why I was forgotten and never seated. I am a good tipper but not as much as a party of four or six would be. She finally told me to stand on green and they would seat me right away. After about another five minutes, I walked away. I was tired of waiting. If you are single diner, you're not going to get seated right away. They will seat everyone else before you. Perhaps I'll try another day when they're not busy at all and see if I'm treated the same way. She did tell me to sit at the bar and I'm not a bar person. We really had no idea what to expect. We called ahead for a table for 4 and were seated on a Friday night just a very few minutes after we arrived. The place was packed! Our fantastic waitress Alyssa came right over, brought water, took drink orders, returned promptly and gave us a few minutes to look over the extensive menu. We all ordered steaks that were perfectly cooked to medium rare and were delicious! Sweet potato and mixed vegetables were great sides. Those who ordered salads loved them. Took my son to Texas Roadhouse for his birthday. There were three of us total and There was a slight wait (15-20 minutes) but next time I know to do the online waitlist for quicker seating. All of the servers that we interacted with were very welcoming and happy!! The restaurant, even though packed, was nice and clean! The music was very loud which made the overall volume of the restaurant go up greatly. We ordered rattlesnake bites and blooming onion as an appetizer. The rattlesnake bites were AMAZING!! My mom doesn't really like anything spicy but she said they were very good. However, My steak was a little over cooked when it came out. I ordered medium rare and it came out on the high side of medium, but it still tasted good. My son never got his fries, but we were so full he wouldn't have been able to eat them other wise.
