The past several times we have been to Texas Roadhouse we have had issues. It seems there has been a change in management or cooking staff. In the past we did not have issues with how our steak, chops or chicken was cooked. The past few times my chicken has been overcooked, dry and burned on the edges. The chops had the same issues. The steak is order medium rare but seems to come out medium well. The last two visits we sent food back which we never do. Normally service is a strength for this restaurant but this past Friday it was very slow, and we were always out of drinks and had to ask for everything. Some things we had to ask another server for. Hopefully, they can get it back together again because we do enjoy the food most of the time. read more

Yes including cooking it yourself - no one but fresh market seems to sell a filet mignon worth buying and even that's hit or miss. Anyways, despite this being one of the better options in the Gainesville area that isn't overpriced on a food quality to cost ratio, the service is consistently substandard. We have only been to this location once and that was because a friend invited us. The service was more slow then should have been for lunch(there was no lunch rush or crowds). Our friend had to send her food back twice,my husband's fried pickles were so greasy it was beyond nasty. My chicken was so over cooked it did not even come close to chicken. I've been to this location a couple of times, now. Both times the service was good and we were sat quickly or within the time frame they provided. The first time, I noticed a surprising amount of peanut shells on the floor of the waiting area (the other Texas Roadhouse I've been to had a tidy floor). The second time we went, they had less peanut shells but still quite a bit. They were also quite busy that night and the turnaround for food was a tad slow, but the server was great at communicating with us about this. The manager checked in with us and other tables to see how our experience was going. The food is what you'd expect for a large chain of restaurants, but the ribs are my favorite. I had their shrimp the second time and another person in my party had the salmon, I'd recommend sticking to the ribs! read more

Predictably good food and almost always good service. The wait is usually not long. Kids night is awesome with plenty of entertainment for little ones including crafts, games and desert treats, kids meal for a great price. If you are out with friends, the drinks are quickly brought out to the table, several beers on tap. Always plenty of water or tea to the table -without- having to tell the wait staff. Of course the food is a wee bit to salty. The bread is always hot and tasty. Salad is pretty run of the mill but they make their own croutons so they are always crunchy. If you are tired of a steak cooked just right, you can go for the baked chicken which is also pretty good. The chicken strips have a thick but crunchy batter on them so take one away from the kids right away. They are fine with sharing a plate if you aren't too hungry, also with splitting up checks. Went last night and we did not get the yummy rolls until after our dinner, yet watched several tables who arrived after us get theirs. Was in town for a wedding and was looking for a lunch , a good lunch. Really not knowing where we saw the roadhouse. It was 2 pm and it was crowded, we thought. Hostess said it would be couple minutes. 10 went by and we were seated. 8 tables with no one in them. Why did we have to wait? Order was put in for chic breast with steak fries, mine fried chicken with brown gravy. My girlfriend order came out cold chicken hot fries, mine cold fries hot chicken. The breading was falling off the chicken, cold fries . Waitress was cold attitude we didn't complain. I had lower body problems with my meal for two days after eating it. Maybe if we ordered something else it might have been better. Nice decor and I bet the steaks would be good. read more

Our waitress was also working the Bar, so she never came back to see us without us asking someone to find her 4 different times. My wife's food was undercooked and when sent back we all finished our food before hers came back because she forgot to bring it to us. They gave us 30% off the Burger and our appetizer off - should have been free. We should have had a normal waitress and this may have never had happened. This rating is for our take out experience. We are regular customers but decided to do take out today. I ordered the food which I was told would be ready in 25 min. Knowing they were busy we came 50 min later to give extra time. We were told that we had to go stand at the low counter in the middle of the resturant. Customers and staff had to try and get around us while we tried to stay out of the way. 15 min later we received part of our order and then had to wait for the rest. The staff and food were their usually good quality. I am writing this hoping management makes it easier for takeout customers. We will not do takeout here again. read more

I don't understand the average ratings here! This is our favorite restaurant in Gainesville. What is there to criticize here? The service is fast and good, the peanuts are great, the dinner rolls are the best, the salad is fresh, the potatoes are always hot, the drinks are cheap, and the steaks are better than Outback's and I still order the prime rib because it's my favorite. The food was awesome. I very rarely get a steak in a restaurant; I'm picky and I usually don't get what I want. But this is a steak house, so I ordered a steak. It was delicious! And the steamed vegies were perfect, and the portions are so large we had enough food left over for lunch the next day! And I cannot say enough about our waitress; she was just really on top of everything. Kept our drinks full without us asking for refills, kept the fresh rolls coming, was accomodating to my kids (I know kids are a pain to servers), and was very friendly. The only thing I have to say about our visit that was not great, was the noise level. But there's not a lot they can do about that; it's that type of place and no reason to subtract stars for that. By far the worst experience I've ever had from a steak house. I ordered the 16 ounce Sirloin with mashed potatoes and a Sam Adams with lemon water on the side. I had mushrooms on top of my sirloin. For at least 6 hours now, I have not been able to stop wanting to puke and having to use the bathroom from diarrhea. I'm experiencing extreme stomach pain and nausea. I'm getting teary eyed as well. My family has been going here for years, whether it is for a birthday, mother's day, etc. Yes they are almost always packed. But for good reason! The food is great and decently priced. The staff is ALWAYS friendly and most are college students working hard for their money. Please ask to be seated with Kelly Turner if you get a chance. She is adorable and incredibly humble. We were in Gainesville for a wedding and we needed to feed my 87 year old mother. It was crazy busy due to opening day for the Florida Gators but they got us right in. Drink orders were fast, waitress came back quick to take our order, food came out in a reasonable time, and the waitress kept our drinks full and checked on us a few times. Mom loved her chopped steak, my ribeye steak was good, wife liked her entre' as well. In and out in an hour on a busy Saturday night so no complaints. For what it's worth this place is almost identical to Jimmy Mac's Roadhouse which we have up in Seattle but I could not find anything online to link the two chains. read more

I was in the mood for a burger for National Burger Week in Gainesville, where you could a get a burger with a side for five dollars. We thought that the wait was going to be 10 minutes, but it ended up being something more like 25. Service: Our server Pearce was made aware by my friend Erick that we were legitimate yelp reviewers. We laughed this off to ease the tension, but he indeed proved worthy of being a great server. Not only did he bring Erick a replacement soda after only drinking two sips of his first, but he also brought out the laughs! He blamed our wait on his mother yelling at him in the kitchen he also shared a descriptive metaphor to when I asked about the taste of the sweet potato casserole side; "it is like a war between the devil and Jesus on your tongue". He provided fun humor as well as prompt delivery. The food: the burgers were great. read more

This place is normally amazing! The service is normally awesome, but this time it was awful. We got there at 8:35 and a man gave us our bread and said a server would be with us shortly. Yeah that didn't happen. We waited 30 minutes for a server to even take our drink orders. We asked three different people to get us a server, they all said they would but no one came. We got the manager and he was very unprofessional. He was he would "hook us up" with stuff and put in everything at that moment. We just left because we were done dealing with it. Texas Roadhouse food is as good as it gets. the ribs, the steaks, that cinnamon butter. I am reviewing their execution. They didn't put plastic silverware in a takeout order with a bowl of chili and a salad, among other things that require utensils. seriously? there were also no napkins for ribs. I called them, the hostess put the manager on the phone (i didnt ask for the manager, just to be clear, they just put him on), and then he kindly explained that while they have silverware, etc, available upon request, the default option is not to put it in people's bags. he said this was a cost saving measure that they just started. I recommend they change that policy, but that's just me, I happen to like using spoons and forks. I asked him what I should do this time. He did not have an answer. He did, however, offer me a 25 dollar credit to the restaurant. (my order total was 25). I thought this was extremely generous of him. so. 4 stars for their food, which has been excellent for years. -1 star because if you are a restaurant you should provide utensils on a takeout order if they are typically necessary when eating the food. read more

Service was quick and the waitress Emily was very quick and attentive. The food was the usual high quality and everything seemed perfect. We were dining a little late and the restaurant stared to wuiet down. As the party at the neighboring table departed a busboy came to clean the booth immediately next to us. Apparently the managerial staff doesnt monitor the help. He looked like a street thug with his pants well down below his rear end. With him that close bending over away from us it was so disconcerting we could not finish our meals. When the waitress returned and found us ready to leave I am sure she was perplexed. Since it was not her fault we did not discuss with her. A bit later while the check was being tabulated I went to the restroom . While there washing my hands, i observed the same person come out of a stall and exit without wahong tgeir hands. I know this is not acceptable and recommend that staff counseling or training is in Order. read more
