Well some of our food came out quickly. Some who ordered before others got their food last and that was after asking several times. Our server took a long time taking our orders while the other was breezing through. And she never came back to give us drink refills. But overall I give them an A for how they dealt with us. I ordered the bbq chicken and got broccoli and corn as my sides. The chicken was very good. Tender and juicy to the point I even ate the white meat portion. The corn was average but the broccoli was as well seasoned. I could have used another cornbread muffin because it was good too. The facility is a complete wreck, old and smells of dirty water and other unidentifiable smells. All the surfaces were sticky and dirty. Service was just OK, but not enough to overcome the facility which was a wreck inside and out. read more

Enjoyed a nice lunch with my husband as we were passing through on a road trip. This was right off the exit so it was very convenient. There weren't many people dining so it was no wait to sit down. Our waiter Brandon was great! He was friendly and polite. I had the spare ribs, fries, Mac n cheese, and corn muffin. My husband had the 3 meat platter with brisket, pulled pork, and chicken. Wife, son and l went to Famous Dave's for the First and last time. Food was good,but my wife and son wanted to go for the Ice Cream after lunch. The machine was turned sideways and not on. It's been a 1 star for a while and certainly since Covid. But I would have thought at some point in two years they could get the one take out order right. I keep going back every month or two to see if they are better. Order take out because service inside has been so bad every time I try to dine in, I don't bother anymore. I am now on 6 straight takeout orders when they screw something up or leave out part of the order. Basically, stealing my money for items not received. Two of the six occasions I had to drive back to the store after getting home to find the order screwed up. That's 25 minutes of my time and gas wasted because this store has no idea how to take orders and complete them. If you order take out. Check before leaving store. We were familiar with this group as we had eaten at Dave's Last Resort in Lake Worth, Florida. Close to our hotel so we went for dinner. We had St. Louis ribs and Cat Fish Fingers. Both were great , large portions, served hot and very tasty. Priced similar to other restaurants serving BBQ and like food. Definitely worth a return visit. Not Terrible Or Amazing To start, famous Dave's used to be one of my favorite 2 times a week spots but I live somewhere they do not exist now. I got excited to see my old happy place in Knoxville and excitedly made my way for dinner last week! Our waitress seemed to try to be polite yet not interested in listening completely or remembering what we asked for. There were only 3 other tables with people our whole tine eating, so it wasn't popping with business. Catfish fingers were good but not large enough serving size for how small they are. I left still hungry... Apparently they did away with the sweet and sour looking tasty sauce for the fish and replaced it with a blah sauce instead, I cannot imagine why... Ambiance is cool and the place appeared clean and orderly otherwise. Brisket was pretty surprisingly dry. No more baked apple sides or the green beans was unfortunate. All in all the only not great famous Dave's experience I've had in any state.... Mesa Arizona being the best. read more

Very easy access off I-40 at Cedar Bluff, you need to turn onto the side street at the traffic light. Then turn right into the business park they are located in. Drive straight until the traffic lane ends, then turn right into the parking lot. They have a good amount of parking with several handicapped spaces. The entrance door is facing Cedar Bluff so if you use a handicapped space you have a little walk to the door. You enter through two sets of doors into a foyer. There is a small bar directly ahead. The hostess station is on the immediate right and the counter to pick up to go orders is on the left. There are only a couple seats for waiting. Our hostess was pleasant and said the wait would be about 20 minutes since they were short staffed. We only had to wait about 10 minutes, and our server came up to take our drink orders almost as soon as we were seated. Our drinks came quickly and we placed our order. The burnt ends came out in about 10 minutes. They were more like cut cubes of meat with little charring. I would have preferred more of a burnt surface, but the meat was tender and the portion plentiful. Hard to complain too much. The brisket and pulled pork combo was good. The brisket was nicely smoked and very tender and moist. The pork was very soft, almost mushy. The flavor was excellent but the texture was hard to get used to. I did eat it all, however. The cornbread muffin was good, as was the potato salad. The beans were fine but nothing special. The chicken and ribs combo was very good. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and the chicken had a mild smoke flavor with excellent taste. The mac and cheese was fine. The banana pudding was pretty good. Even though we were told they were short staffed, it did not impact our dining experience. We both had leftovers which turned into an excellent lunch the next day. Sat there for more than 15 minutes with no service no water nobody came by to ask us if we needed anything very annoying. Asked to speak with the manager, even spoke with her, and she really didn't seem to. Not busy. Only five cars in the parking lot. Famous Dave's is usually one of our favorites restaurants. The ones in Washington state are great. We were really looking forward to burnt ends. Too bad this particular one was such a disappointment. read more

If you ask anyone from Texas what their top choice of barbecue meat is, it will always be the unanimous answer, "brisket"!!! While Famous Dave's has a lot going for it, the brisket was a let down. It's almost like going to a good Mexican restaurant with really bad chips and salsa... It just taints the experience. The serving staff was great! And if you go, ask for Tay's section! The food quality was overall good but not great. The ambience does a good job of putting you in a rural barbecue joint while being in the middle of West Knoxville! I seriously wish we had read these reviews before we decided to get takeout today. Our experience wasn't good. We ordered 2 meals to go that were supposed to come with 2 meats, 2 sides and corn bread muffins. We each received our two meats, neither of us received corn bread muffins and only one of us received the 2 sides we asked for. This is disappointing and made for a less than expected meal when we returned home. And in case you're wondering why we didn't return to get this fixed, its because we live 50 miles away. read more

Came here for my brother's birthday and ordered the 4‑person trash can lid meal--presentation was fun, but execution fell flat. The adult mac & cheese was clearly homemade and tasty, yet the kids' mac arrived as boxed Kraft. Service was painfully slow despite the place being nearly empty, and the music was so sluggish it felt like time stood still. Standard, basic BBQ. Portion size on the pulled pork was good. Gave lots of meat. Came on a Tuesday and there was lunch special from 11-4. $8 for the pulled pork and a side. Much more worth it than paying a full $11. Ribs are decent. Not the best BBQ but would do if you craved it. read more

We had a five star meal at Famous Dave's in Knoxville, TN. We had the pick three meat platter with Texas Brisket, Rib Tips, and Country Roasted Chicken. Did you know....you can get their lunch special menu EVERY day of the week--not just on weekdays like most restaurants. All three of our meats were delicious. The fries are wedges, and they were not soggy. They taste great with their house Comeback sauce. All of the BBQ sauces were great although it is important to note that there is an extra sauce they do not keep on the table. If you like hot stuff, then Wilbur's Revenge is for you! You can ask for this one, and they will gladly bring you some. The cornbread muffin is a tasty treat as well! Josh was an attentive and helpful server. He did a great job helping us decide on what to order. Now, why did I rate it a four? The restaurant is clean, but the place could use an update. I was SO underwhelmed from what I remember it being. My husband ordered a salad... Entree salad. I have had side salads that are bigger. We paid $13 for a salad that he could easily hold, in its entirety, in his cupped hands. Seriously!!! He was still hungry. I got the burnt ends. These were always my favorite! Man i love famous daves, and have for years. Since i moved away i rarely get it, but always make it a priority when im in town. We went and the food is still great, the service was good, but there were a few changes that let me down. First, they used to have a bigger selection of sauces at each table, if memory serves the Texas Pit and Georgia Mustard were always there, but missing this visit. Some of the menu items have changed, and my favorite hot links were gone. There was a cheese sausage replacement, still good, but not quite as tasty, to me. My server Sierra did a awesome job with keeping my fresh brewed tea filled and was attentive throughout. The place is like cabin inside and clean. I got the 3 meat lunch and you have your choices of 3 sauces on table. I mixed the devils fire spit with the sweet yum!!! The smoked jalapeño sausage had pieces of jalapeño and cheddar cheese in it. The chopped pork was tasty, but I had to mix it in with the sauces to take it over the top. Sierra suggested a banana putting hands down for dessert.!!! read more

Not Tennessee BBQ! This and price are my only complaints though... In the area for my son's regatta, I wanted to try some good Tennessee BBQ, so we tried the closest place to our hotel.... Never having heard of famous Dave's, we didn't know going in, it was actually Chicago style BBQ. Good portions, good flavors, decent selections if maybe a little limited. A tad on the pricey side. Service was overwhelmed but still did a fabulous job of getting people what they needed as fast as they could. The first time I came here the food was amazing. My whole family loved it. But this time around the meat was dry and tough, it didn't fall off the bone like the first time. The mac n cheese was interesting and different, it had corn in it. The corn bread was amazing, it was soft and not dry. I had eaten the Dave's Sassy salad at the Billings Montana location 3 times over the past week and enjoyed it every time. While out with the family on 1/16 I was excited to stop in for lunch to get my wife to try the salad. What a disappointment. What I found was there is no consistency between the two establishments which is unusual for a chain restaurant. While the Billings location uses chopped lettuce, the sassy dressing is mixed in, and the portions are large; the Knoxville location is just the opposite. I ordered the grilled chicken and when it arrived I was given the pulled chicken and was then told they dropped the grilled chicken and steak from their menu. It would have been nice to know that before hand. The next issue was the whole presentation was a MESS. The dressing was poured over the top of the salad which I could deal with, but the dressing was smeared all over the sides both inside and outside to the point I had to use my napkin to clean it off. The portion was 3/4 of what I experienced in Billings and the lettuce was not chopped. I can't comment on the server as we only saw her when we ordered, when she brought our food, and when she brought our ticket. Needless to say, I now remember why I don't frequent this location. read more
