Wow. Seriously tasty and fresh. Way bett3r than expected...and friendly service! This gem is located on Rufe Snow. I hit the drive-thru and order3d their 1/4 pounder with cheese meal. I traded the fries for onion rings. My diet coke was HUUUuuuuGE....and was even better than McDonald's fountain drinks! Truth! The burger was really good and held fresh veggies. The onion rings needed a little salt, but oh so good. I went through the drive thru, so the ambiance was minimal...but i love seeing Tex with the big yellow star. Did I mention the soft delicious bun?! So good!

Love this place been a minute since last visit. Interior is a little dated but sparkly clean. Family owned with a great story line there is just something about a small business that gets it right time after time. The food is amazing Midwestern faves and char grilled burgers. For me it's the Italian Beef, Chicago Dog or the Polish sausage everytime. This is a 1 store shop kinda legend in these parts.

First time here with a friend, my buddy Gary recommended it. It's family owned with a Chicago background and there are several different options to choose from! We both had the flame grilled burgers with special sauce and fries. It hit the spot and I liked the spicy sauce better than the regular sauce. I want to make another trip soon to try a hot dog or polish style.. We definitely were satisfied and happy when we left.

We have been coming to Tex's Star Grill for years, this is definitely a favorite restaurant in the area. My personal favorite food here is the chicken fried chicken. Not only is the taste delicious, but the portions are amazing for the money. You will get a chicken fried chicken that is over half of a plate. I love getting the fries as my side to use the spicy house sauce. You also get toast and a side salad. Those working are very nice and they keep the restaurant very clean. You will probably also see the owner here, he is always working.

Reuben sandwich, fries, and Russian?? dressing.

Was in North Richland Hills for first time in 5 years. Finished my business and looked for place to eat. Normal row of cookie cutter fast food restaurants. Happened to notice Tex's Star Grill. Glad I did. Not your average drive thru. Chicago Italian Hot Beef dipped sandwiches, Gyros, chicken/beef kabob sandwiches. And my favorite the Reuben. Pastrami, Swiss cheese, rye bread and Russian (I would call it 1000 Island) dressing. Big steak house style fries, and big Coke. All delicious. Had a baklava too. Good. Several steps above your average fast food place. Would be 5 stars if not just toasted but made in Panini Press and real Russian dressing. Give it a try. Good food. Friendly employees. Fast service.

Customer service was excellent until an older woman came to the window. Maybe it was just one of those days, but she came off as unfriendly. I've never had a bad experience here and use to bake bread for the company. However, this does affect my overall review. The spicy fried pickles were horrible! The burger was decent. The onion rings were the best part of my meal. The establishment is still clean and looks the same from yrs ago. You can tell the owner takes pride in his business. I think this was an off day, hopefully.

One of our favorite go to places for burgers. My sponsor is attracted because of the Spicy Home sauce. I like the burgers but my favorite is the Ruben combo. Today my sponsor maintained her #2 Combo 1/3 Chzburger. I was trying to decide between a hamburger and a Ruben. The owner had a special listed as #13 Goldenburger. It is a burger overlaid with pastrami. Hence my solution to making a decision. We had a delicious meal and enjoyed the great service and clean atmosphere.

Forgot to take a picture before diving in. Doesn't do it justice. So good!

We can't give this place enough stars! Fantastic food! Don't let the exterior or name fool you. The food pictures don't do justice. George is a Greek man from Chicago that has lived in Texas a couple decades...and the food reflects it all. The Gyro is some of the best meat we have had. That's right, great gyros from a place with "Tex" in the name. We took the owners suggestion and got the Golden Burger that is piled with fresh pastrami. Amazing blend of flavors. My mouth wanted more. We highly recommend Tex's Star Grill. No matter your food-mood the fresh, made to order delights will appease your appetite and excite your taste buds.

This place is amazing! The food was fresh tasted fresh and the sweet tea also hit the spot. We also had the gyro and I would say top 5 gyro of all time that I have had. This is a must stop in and try if you are in the area.

    Greek salad with chicken breast

Coworker and I went for lunch today. We each ordered a salad and we got one pizza puff to split just to try it. Salads were great, I got the greek with chicken breast and she got the chef. I loved mine, nice fresh vegg and you can't see it in the photo but lots of feta and olives, and comes with a pita and tzatziki. I didn't even need the greek dressing they included. The pizza puff was good, loved the filling, the dough part seemed undercooked to me? But I'm not from Chicago so what do I know. Super nice owner who is out in the dining room checking in on customers. Clean dining area. We will definitely be back to try something a little more decadent than salad. Support your locally owned restaurants!

Yes! The owner is friendly and the space is just like any other restaurant/ fast food space. I don't recall if there's a kids menu, but there's lots of options and the burgers and fries are awesome !!

Everything came out piping hot and fresh. Philly cheesesteak? Phenomenal. Seasoned, tender, and had banana peppers cooked in which I LOVE. Sweet potato fries? Homemade, hot, fresh, crispy, and salted to perfection. Catfish? Fried perfectly. Not soft but not "hard" crunchy either. Paired with the homemade tartar is the bee's knees. Wings? Crispy, only downside, lots of mango, no, habanero. We stayed and chatted with Ms. Charlotte a while after and got some history on her husband, Dave, and the restaurant. We truly enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to be back!

I was originally planning to go to another famous burger place in town, but this American food…read morerestaurant looked and sounded really good from the photos and menu and was close to my hotel. I visited during lunch so I took advantage of the lunch burger special for $3 off. Horizon 76 turned out to be good for another entree I was craving 2 days later, so I returned a 2nd time. They sat us in the same table unknowingly and I even sat in the same seat. We also had the same waiter and he of course remembered us and our drink order from last time. How's that for customer service? On my first visit I ordered a tea and original horizon burger and added a cup of chili, which isn't really listed on the menu but they can addit to your burger for a few dollars more. I had wanted to try the bone-in burger, but they don't offer it anymore. My friend who lives in Ft Worth had not heard of this place that opened around 2020, but then again he doesn't get out much. Burger - this is a very good burger and I would put it up against the best burgers in town. I don't live here, but I bet it would be in the top 3 for any burger enthusiast that likes thick burgers. The sweet sourdough bun really makes this taste even better, not to mention when you have steak blends in your patty, it elevates it quite a bit. Fries - I've had several duck fries around the country and these were not that good. Not much seasoning at all. Tasted like typical frozen breaded fries flash fried in duck fat. Side of chili - small amounts of anything are usually tasty, this chili is no exception. Filled with beans and comes in like a shot glass. They don't give you much as a side. I guess they prefer you to order the $16 chili entree. On my second visit, my buddy and I were craving a good chicken fried steak. We decided to visit here since you rarely see filet / tenderloin as the protein in CFS, plus knowing the burger was awesome, we figured the CFS was probably good too. For my sides, I chose grilled veggies and loaded baked potato. CFS - This was a good version but I didn't really like the breading due to its color and high flour content. I prefer a darker greasier one. The meat was what I came for mainly and it was really good tenderloin pounded pretty dang thin. Not overly breaded, surprisingly. The veggie medley is truly a mix of about 8 different veggies, which you rarely see. Most grilled veggie sides are 3-4 at most. Overall, my best friend was super impressed and now he wants to return to their BBQ restaurant next door. I was also impressed, but I would come back for a burger or another entree next time.

Let's start with my husband's jalapeño burger... y'all... he took ONE bite and immediately hit me with "this tastes like a high-quality homemade burger." And he wasn't lying. Juicy, flavorful, perfectly cooked--like backyard grill mastery but elevated. Now let's talk about the kiddo's chicken tenders--because WHAT?! These weren't your average frozen, tossed-in-the-fryer situation. These were hands down some of the BEST chicken tenders I've had in a long time. Fresh, crispy, perfectly breaded, cooked to absolute perfection--and don't even get me started on the fries... golden, crispy, and downright addictive. And then... MY plate. The street taco plate with carne asada. Listen... this didn't just meet expectations--it BLEW THEM OUT OF THE WATER. The meat was fresh, insanely well seasoned (not overdone, not dry--just PERFECT). The flavors were bold without being overwhelming. And the sauces?! Unreal. The serrano sauce had the perfect kick without burning your soul off, and that avocado salsa? Smooth, flavorful, and chef's kiss. As someone who lives in Texas, I can confidently say--this is NOT your typical Tex-Mex spot. And thank goodness for that. So many places either overcook everything or completely miss the seasoning... but not here. This is authentic flavor, done RIGHT. This has officially become my go-to taco spot. No question. No competition. We WILL be back--and not just once... this is going into regular rotation. If you're even THINKING about trying this place--STOP thinking and GO. You can thank me later.

They weren't skimpy with the Steak Philly at all, but it was just meh. The third time, we dined in again and decided to get the 10 Al Pastor tacos deal. I loved how it was plated, and they did not skimp on the meat, but it was way too salty. Service is quick, and the wait for the food isn't long. They do get pretty busy, but there's plenty of seating. They also have an area where you can grab your own condiments and peppers, which I love. I would definitely recommend their burgers for sure. Good grief, this thing was phenomenal. It may have been the single best item we ordered. The crab was cooked perfectly with a satisfying crunch, the bao was pillowy soft, and they showed admirable restraint with the sauce. Too many places drown everything in mayo and call it creativity. Not here. Every bite was balanced and absolutely delicious. Then there was the pork belly burger, which looked like it was about to become my new favorite burger in Fort Worth. Unfortunately, it never quite got there. The pork belly hadn't rendered enough, making it chewy and difficult to bite through. The beef patty also seemed oddly resistant to being bitten. I shouldn't need the jaw strength of an alligator to eat a burger. My wife ordered the black garlic ramen. She loved the broth and thought the egg was excellent, but the noodles were surprisingly firm and ended up mostly untouched. The kid's meal was probably the easiest win of the night. My son happily devoured the chicken tenders and was thrilled to discover that dessert was included. The Cookie Monster ice cream may have generated more excitement than anything else on the table. Overall, this place feels like a restaurant with some genuinely brilliant ideas and a few execution issues. When they're on, they're REALLY on. That soft-shell crab bao alone is worth the trip.
