Found this place through Yelp and decided it was worth a visit. So glad we did, excellent food. Had two of their specialty dishes, orange chicken and cashew chicken which were both stupendous. Place is always outstanding. We do a lot of traveling and eat out frequently. This is our favorite Thai restaurant. Period. Been going here for about the last 8 yeas. Always leave happy. Just had the red curry beef with 3 peppers on their heat scale, and egg fried rice. Probably the best Thai dish I've ever had. Rangoon's are also the best around. Real crab in them. And chicken satay is another favorite of ours. Not to mention it's 30 seconds off the highway and there's tons of easy parking. read more

We stopped at this restaurant after a trip to Cabelas. It was delicious! We got there right as it opened and our party of 4 ordered several dishes. There were plenty of options for the vegitarian in our party. I ordered the pad thai which was very flavorful and fresh. My husband ordered a chicken dish and the chicken was ground up and fried "meatball" style-a nice twist. Everyone agreed that their choices were well prepared. Would definitely go back! read more

okay, i have only been once and will revise if the next experience does not rate a 5 but I had the Green Curry w/tofu and brown rice and it was FABULOUS. We had Shrimp Tempura for appetizer and it was yummy too - especially w/their peanut sauce which is divine - it was served w/sweet sauce which was good, just not as good as the peanut sauce. I was very impressed with my Chicken Pad Thai from Thai 9! It was a MASSIVE portion for a good price. I have to admit I was prepared to be disappointed when I walked in to pick up and it was a rather small container in a brown paper bag. I picked it up however and realized it weighed a couple pounds and knew I had no reason to fear! I also got there like 45 minutes later than planned but it was still warm, juicy and delicious. It makes me sad I don't live in the area, otherwise I would be frequenting this place all the time. My only "complaint" would be that the dining area looks more cafeteria than restaurant. But I rarely eat in for Thai food. Can't wait to have reason to visit this establishment again! read more

Used to love this place but now it's terrible. Old menu was far superior, better tasting and with fresh ingredients. Orange chicken I had tonight I was lacking flavor, runny and I'm pretty sure was made from frozen chicken fingers. Vegetables also seem frozen and were overcooked. Food is very overpriced. read more

Thai 9 is fabulous! It is a great "go to" restaurant any day of the week. The food is always very fresh and flavorful with generous portions at reasonable prices. The staff/owner are welcoming and knowledgable. Come for the best green curry in the Portland area! Definitely worth the drive to Scarborough from neighboring towns. I am a Thai lover but this was not good. Three of us went and all were very disappointed. 3 starts and no heat, no flavor in anything. Volcano chicken was chicken balls with a few pieces of pepper in brown water not a sauce. Flavorless. Pinapple fried rice bland, Drunken noodles boring. If I wanted American food I would have gone elsewhere. Basically boiled vegitables and no spices. read more

Stopped here with my adult daughter. The waiter forgot to bring her Thai iced tea until the meal was almost over. Most places would apologize and re-offer a nonalcoholic beverage like this without charge. About this time some pleasant parents with a well behaved pre-schooler walked in, and although the place was not that busy, the waiter told the family that the food preparation time might be too long for a child to wait (they walked back out). As for the food, typical for unimposing casual Thai restaurants but I've usually experienced better at others of this category. Lunch portions in the menu are not offered on Sunday although the menu does not state this. In summary, could be better. read more

Went to Thai 9 for lunch. Service was quick and waiter attentive. That's about the good things in this place. The food was really bad. I order Red Curry with tofu and it as flavor less, frozen veggie and a distinct freezer taste in the fried tofu. The coconut sauce was sweet like a syrup. My husband ordered 3 flavor haddock and all he could taste was the sweet syrup they poured on the fried fish. It was terrible. They advertise home cooked Thai food.. don't know who in their right mind will eat food doused in syrup. read more

My husband and I ate dinner here tonight. He had the orange chicken and I got the chicken massaman curry. Not sure if chicken meatballs coated in orange sauce is what he expected and my curry utterly lacked any flavor or spice. Wanted to give it a try, quite disappointed and will not be eating here again. Bua Thai in Old Orchard Beach will be our go to for now on. read more
