I built my own noodle bowl and it was FANTASTIC!! I got medium rice noodles, chicken, with chicken broth, and it had all the veggies!! Very FRESH! They gave me my chili sauce on the side so that I could get it just right for me. My sister got the lemon grass and added chicken (mild) her words- a delightful blend of flavors with just the right amount of spice. My mom got teriyaki chicken with veggies and white rice, plus she made a whole order a chicken fried rice to go. They boxed up all of our food and separated my noodles and even made extra broth for me to bring home with my leftovers. The service was EXEMPLARY!!!! I think I found my new favorite Thai restaurant in Maine!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Excellent!!! Fresh yummy food and the best service I've had in YEARS! Honestly some of the best Thai food I've had in quite some time! The service was amazing, and our waiter made sure to give us the best expedience possible. I really wanted to like this so much, especially with the cheerful service that greeted my call for takeout. They were so kind, and friendly when I came to pick up my order. It was piping hot, and clearly made afresh for my order. That's worth a star. That said, my food was inedible. There was none of the balance of sweet/salty/sour/savory in the entree or the side of egg roll I ordered. Worst of all was the pronounced 'off' taste that permeated everything. I don't mind the funk of fish sauce, especially when other flavors are in balance and fresh. This was unpleasant, like eating in a latrine on a hot summer day. I bagged up my food after several bites and a single egg roll and took it straight to the dumpster. I didn't want the smell in my house or in my garbage can. I have been going here for over 12 years! But after last night ' I don't think I'll ever go back , I got takeout which I probably do here 3/4 times a month on average But here's my concern ! I got two appetizer samplers & it looked like one had eat the other and a coconut shrimp which consisted of 5 unbelievably small shrimp.' I have been to their other restaurants in the area and enjoyed myself there. But this one is a cut above. Everything felt so fresh and flavorful, it made everything stand out. The soy nuggets they had there were great. I normally have no issue getting tofu with my Thai food - it was what first introduced me to it. But I thought I would give the soy nuggets in my drunken noodle a go. For a moment, I thought they accidentally gave me chicken. If you are looking to fake out your meat-eating brain, these soy nuggets are a good start. My dining partners were very pleased with their meals. My husband and I stopped here shortly after 4PM on our way back towards home which is 2 hours away. Since it was well before the dinner rush, we were the only customers who dined in at that time but shortly after, people started phoning in orders. It was difficult deciding what to eat because they had so many good things to choose from! I ended up getting their pad Thai with fried tofu. So cliche, I know, but I couldn't pass up a Thai staple. My husband ordered the Drunken Noodles with soy nuggets. I got to sample one of the soy nuggets and it did taste pretty close to meat! We both really enjoyed our food - I only wish the portions were a bit larger given the prices but everything was delicious. Will definitely eat here again the next time I'm in Portland. read more

I was crossing my fingers that they were open. They were and boy am I thankful. Being from Los Angeles I really didn't know how I felt about Thai in MAINE!!!! The chic up front was totally rad and dressed in a fashionable fall outfit. Super nice and gave me her favorite dish.. thanks a lot, because now it's my favorite. Vegan, Gluten Free, and portion is perfect. No waste and no left overs. The Spice was a 1 Chili but I asked of and additional Chili spice level on the side. Two was perfect for this dish! Spicy, but not mouth or tongue burning. I'd say 5, but it was our first visit and I wanna leave room to be further impressed. We went crazy early since our 1 year old came along. (He has GREAT manners, but why push it?) I'm almost 7 months pregnant with baby 2, so I wasn't full on hopes up that the food and I would get along. Normally, I adore thai food, but pregnancy is a huge X factor. We 3 shared the scallion pancake appetizer. Only 1 cake, cut into 8 pieces I think. Crispy, light, tasty, but the sauce was the real winner for me. Our son ate almost an entire wedge by himself and smiled the whole meal. My stir fry was in truth, devine. I got all my fav veggies, shrimp, and garlic sauce. I chose Lomein noodles and had it cooked all together. Fresh from the pan rocket hot and delicious! Even my son liked the noodle he asked to try! Hubby had a crab pad thai and seemed quite full and pleased as well. Lovely place, good service, great food. Who would have thought it - great Thai in Portland Maine. Wanted to eat local so our AirB&B recommended this place. It was a home run. To give this place anything but five stars would be blasphemy. The lady and I do take-out from this place at least once a week - sometimes twice. LIVING ON THE EDGE! You might not know this, but this Thai place also makes great sushi. Their Mexican Roll (which they accidentally spell Maxican) is shrimp, cilantro, spicy mayo, excellent. The Rock and Roll (bbq eel + avocado) is also a favorite of ours. Spicy Tuna is always a safe bet. The sushi has always tasted fresh and I have zero complaints about it. As far as appetizers go, we generally get the Kra Tong Thong (ground chicken/veggies which you put in a small, edible cup). It's excellent, I highly recommend it. The dumplings are great, the soups are flavorful. The Pad Thai here is generous and delicious. You can get anything up to 4 levels of spicy, and one of our favorite dishes is the drunken noodles with chicken, extra spicy! Fantastic meal, and I always find myself leaning back on the couch groaning because of the amount of food I ingested. We ate at the restaurant once and I was pleasantly surprised with the service, atmosphere, and menu. The wine was perfectly paired with the meal; it was sweet and balanced out the spices. It was recommended by our waiter, and for me, that's what made the meal. Five stars, five stars, five stars! You're missing out on a great meal if you don't try this place. read more

We came here while on our weeklong family trip in Cape Elizabeth to celebrate my mom's birthday. Upon arriving we all poured over their extensive menu. Pad Thai is always my trusty stand by/tester for thai places, but I decided to mix it up just a bit and get their crispy pad thai. Everyone else made their selections and we did wait quite a bit until our food arrived, which when it did we had to wait around 5-10 minutes for the last two dishes to arrive. Good thing our family isn't hung up on being super polite as long as those without food yet gets to pick at everyone elses plates. We were a bit on the early side at 6 p.m., so maybe we caught them a bit off guard in the kitchen (although we did have reservations). The owner/manager did come by and expressed her regrets on the delay and even provided us with some comped watermelon. Regardless, the food was pretty tasty. Definitely not the best thai food I've had, but considering we were in Maine I was still impressed. My mom loved her salad which had an interesting carrot, lime, ginger dressing. My crispy pad thai was challenging with noodles that are almost like crunching into uncooked dried pasta. Thank goodness it had a nice sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy sauce with the best cooked shrimp I've had on pad thai ever. I like all of Pom's ventures and support all of them by eating the delish food. This was the original one, I think and it caters to the neighborhood people which is nice. Her other locations have different vibes for different clientele - a sign of a great business woman. I like getting the "make your own noodle dish" on the back of the menu. I have eaten at Pom's other locations many times, and confess that I am pretty well addicted to their amazing noodles, salads, and soups. We recently moved to the neighborhood and started getting take-out from Thai Taste somewhat often, and while the food is still wonderful, the service is really iffy. Some nights, my husband or I are forced to recite every single item we ordered before being given our food (which is tricky when one of us orders and the other picks up!), and we have often spent over five minutes standing at the counter waiting - not for our food to be done: we can see it waiting! - but for someone to either come over and help us or finish doing paperwork or taking orders...at the desk...right in front of us. Not cool, especially since this is not exactly cheap. The price still feels right for the quality we get, but definitely not for the experience and wait. Seeing this level of service for take-out customers, we've been hesitant to eat in, but the food definitely keeps us coming back! I would recommend any of the other locations, where we have received nothing but top notch service in addition to the incredible food. read more

I always seem to be ordering at 9:45 before they close at 10, and they either 1. say Of Course and make my food fresh before close or 2. kindly let me know it is too late for pickup. I ate here on Friday with a coworker. The Restaurant is localed in a small mall in South Portland. We were quickly greeted and sited and giving menus and water. We arrived for an early lunch and by noontime the place was filling up fast. I had spring rolls - very nice, fresh tasting and served with a wonderful dipping sauce. I will start by saying that I am by no means a Thai food expert. We decided to eat at a Thai restaurant in Portland last night, and some in the family wanted it again tonight. We decided to stay closer to home and went to Thai Taste. Not so much. The coconut soup was way thicker with hunks of mushrooms rather than thinly shaved ones as in the soup last night. The dumplings were like carny food as they were overly-crispy in thick wonton wrappers. The soy sauce was also overly gingered. We did like the fried rice, but that was it. Everything else was a solid no. Now I have to take everyone back to the Thai restaurant in Portland tomorrow to make up for the meal. read more
