This place used to be pretty good but every time I order out my food is over cooked practically burned the chicken has lots of bone so you have to keep spitting some out while eating not enjoying that when you want to enjoy what you're eating and the soup I ordered was very salty it's like either they are rushing your order but doing a terrible job. I am in Love with this food! I had most of all the Vegetarian dishes and all of them are very good! The Ghang Ped / Red Curry With Coconut Milk, bamboo shoot, tofu and I added pineapple was delicious. they give you the choice of how spicy you want your food from 1 to 10. the Pineapple fried rice is with tofu is a must as well! I always request it without egg since am a vegan! but is as you wish! the Pad Thai Veggie is also a good choice. you can also get it with our without egg. The Basil Delight is a good choice if you like spice. its a dish with basil leaves and a chili seasoning with stir-fried tofu. the spicy eggplant is also good. Just note: this is a family own restaurant and they are the workers they don't hire any body else. as they get busier you might have to wait longer. its worth the wait. read more

Beware when they are busy, to go soup will Tuka s20 Mins and they don't answer the calls to order, reason only 3 stars. Services also less when busy. This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the area. The spring rolls here are legit, and the bbq chicken is moist. If you like duck, they have a wonderful duck dish during lunch time, and anything on the lunch special they can do dinner size portions as well. I have never had a bad meal here. If you like Thai food, you must definitely try this place. The staff is super friendly, and the food is delicious. The spring rolls here are probably some of the best that I have had period. It's soft, with tons of fresh veggies, and an amazing peanut sauce. I've tried everything from their bbq ribs and chicken, duck, noodles, curry, etc. Everything that I have tried here was exceptionally good. The best thing about our dinner was the vegetarian egg rolls, which were mini sized and smaller than expected, but good. My pad thai was okay. A little cold in spots but hot in other spots. It was okay. Not great, not bad, just typical pad thai. The Chinese broccoli fried rice was disappointing. There were actually 0 pieces of broccoli and more onion and spinach than any other veggie, some small pieces of egg, and rice. Underwhelming. It didnt even seem like fried rice. I have known about Thai Basil for years, but only just stopped in this week. Years of my life have been wasted! Thai Basil is a nice local joint, perfect for a quick bite or date night. The decor is very nice, the restaurant was clean, and the service was good. And the food! The food was delicious. My date had the pad-se-ew dinner combination with chicken, and I had the Kang Kari, a yellow curry with potatoes, carrot, onion, and coconut milk with tofu. The combination is quite big, and my curry was just the right size. I got "5" level spice, and it was perfect for me. I really liked the preparation of the tofu-- . As a new vegetarian Thai Basil will make it easy for me to eat well. There are a lot of vegetarian options. My only constructive criticism is to indicate the vegan options on the menu. I used to eat here all the time when I was younger so when it was suggested again for take out, I jumped at the opportunity to taste nostalgia again. Boy was I disappointed. We ordered a ton from the menu and it was all so mediocre. Nothing stood out or made me foam at the mouth. We ordered the Tom Kha soup and it was overly salted and sour. After every spoonful, it required a glug of water. We ordered the green curry and the beef tasted like it had been dipped in egg. It had such an eggy flavor and totally threw the flavor profile off. Pad See Ew is my go-to mostly because it's hard to mess up. This one was soggy but still edible. I ate the majority of this. The fried rice was yummy and exactly what I expected. The spicy eggplant was also tasty. We ordered a couple of other items but they were forgettable. If you're looking for mediocre and a delivery, they get the job done. read more

I've been going to Thai Basel since 2010, every couple of months we'd eat in or take out depending on our mood. Every dish we'd order was spot on, it was great tasting, decent portions and great atmosphere. Over the last year or so, we've noticed our take out portions have been seemingly smaller and smaller everytime we went back. Don't get me wrong, all the dishes are still delicious, in fact my favorite dish is the pad see-ew but the prices have gone up and the portions are disappointingly smaller and smaller. It's been a few months since I last ordered and I noticed the take out boxes have changed to smaller boxes and they're not even filled. That was my last straw with this restaurant. Also to go portions are a scam, pad Thai gets skimped on cuz 1/3 of the to go container is bean sprouts, Panang curry has nothing but meat in it no veggies, the in house large rice is a whole steam pot but the to go large rice is just one small carry out box and costs like $4 and the rice isn't even good rice most of the time. They also only fill the curry to go container just over half way too. Good food but in house vs to go portions are way off and you're not getting a lot for your money. I ordered two Pad Thais and some Massaman curry (my stand by with tofu and brown rice), and an appetizer plate to go and waited with my companion. I knew I was at a good spot because it was Friday night at like 6pm and this place was popping. So first thing first, it's easy to get burnt out on Thai food. I mean, how often can you eat Pad Thai and not get bored of the same old thing? The thing is, I'm ready to burn myself out on this Thai food. Pad Thai: solid. One of my friends got chicken and the other beef/chicken and I heard no complaints. I swiped a meatless bite and was impressed with their dish. One commented that there were a lot of bean sprouts, but I like the bean sprouts m'self. Massaman curry: I ordered it medium and it was just the right amount of heat. This dish was not overwhelmingly 'dairy' or creamy, which I liked. I think the tofu was fried, which was ok. I prefer steamed. The brown rice I got with the curry was awesome because it was actually the dark brown rice with the nutty flavor instead of the kinda brown rice that most places have. Appetizer plate: it was a tempura veggie plate. Not bad! I appreciated their usage of mushrooms for tempura. Everything had a slight 'sog' to it. My wife loves this place. The Chicken Curry is pretty good. The Pineapple Fried Rice is OK. The place is always crowded so expected to wait a little. Our complaint was that we placed our order online and waited 20 minute before getting to restaurant. When we got there, we were told that it would take another 20 min before our food was ready. I have been a regular here since we always nearby. Their food is delicious, not the best Thai food i have ever tried but the price and the portion are huge pluses. They tend to get busier during lunch and dinner peak time (12pm or 6pm) so if you don't want to wait, just go in a smaller party or come anytime before the rush hour. They personalize their spice level between 1-10; even for dishes that aren't meant to be spicy, they will make it spicy for you upon request. The Pad See Ew is probably my least favorite dish in this list, reason being that it is probably one of the lower quality Pad See Ew's I've had up to this point. But don't let this deter you from getting it, I may have just gotten one that was not cooked to their normal standards - one of my friends really enjoyed it when she went! The Pineapple Curry is definitely something to try! It even looks de-licious! A lot of color and is served with red rice! I ordered it with a level 8 spice and it was just perfect! If you love curry, you'll love this one! The Beef Chow Mein is alright. I personally prefer ordering Chow Mein from a Chinese Restaurant because I enjoy the texture and flavor more. Even tonight the food is great however their to-go portions are smaller then Panda Express for a full meal. No joke folks i order general Tao, chicken fried rice, and chicken pad tai all main dinner meals and i could have gone to Panda Express for a 3 combo plate at 10 and had the same amount of food. We were on a business trip and were staying at the Marriot on the Cal State Fullerton campus. It was not raining so we decided to walk to this restaurant upon the recommendation of the front desk staff at the hotel. We walked by many other restaurants that were only slightly occupied, when we saw that almost all the tables in Thai Basil were occupied we were encouraged!! I am not a "spicy food" person, so I am always cautious of Thai food!! I was happy to see several non-spicy options on the menu. I ordered the Lemon Chicken meal. Boy was I happy, the moist chicken breast middle and the still-crunchy fried outside was amazing!! I couldn't eat it fast enough. I got a card for the company who could deliver to our hotel right away in case I had an opportunity to order dinner again during our trip. The egg rolls are more like spring rolls, and I enjoyed this way to get my veggies!! They have a unique brown rice that was great and much more healthy than white. I was impressed that my colleague was given chopsticks even though he is Anglo!! Where I live you have to ask for them. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals, although one who ordered a spicy level of 4 thought hers was too spicy. Lots of vegetarian options, too.
