We had heard good things about their food and reviews were good, so decided to try them out. So about a month ago we ordered a few items to go, brought food home and midmeal found chicken in our vege pad sew! We had ordered it with tofu and without fish and oyster sauce, they got that part right but that means their cook despite seeing all that added chicken to it, i.e, two proteins! We just don't understand how any cook can add chicken to a tofu dish! Even if you mix up orders somehow, adding 2 proteins to a dish should've raised a flag for the cook! That's not just a simple oversight. When we called them, they were really nice about it and offered a credit on our next order. Well last week, we decided to give them a 2nd try. This time they outdid themselves. First off we were told they will give credit for 1 dish in liu of the previous incident but then 5 min before pick up, they called to tell us that they're now under a new management (in last 1mo!) and all previous records were lost, so they can't give us any credit. Basically that they don't believe us. We said okay, that's fine, and agreed to pay full price. Brought food home to find out they got 2 out of our 4 dishes wrong!! They gave us pad thai instead of pad sew and basil tofu in place of tofu with mint and chilli sauce!! Thank God no chicken in any of of it, we don't know how. We were so disappointed we didn't even bother calling them back. That was enough of an experience. We will not be ordering from them again. We have also been telling our friends and family to be on alert if they ever order anything from them. read more

I was there a month ago for a late lunch and receive bad customer service from this middle-aged waiter guy. I went in asking if they were still offering lunch specials and if I could see the menu, the middle-aged waiter guy acted very impatiently and pointed at the menu. I ordered a beef green curry. I love this place, I come in all the time with my boyfriend. Awesome Thai food and the service is great! I don't think the servers get the credit due to them during busy hours. They can be extremely busy at times yet they always handle their own. Thank you to the awesome servers of Thai Basil! :) That being said... I recommend the Massaman curry (if the idea of a peanut curry entices you) It's AWESOME! We were recommended it by the sweet lady server with the bob and glasses, she even took the time to explain the story of the Emperor who's recipe the dish is based on. I also recommend the orange tofu if you are vegetarian or vegan (it's to die for!!) I'm not kidding, once you try it your life will never be the same... I've become a regular because of this dang tofu. Like a three times a week regular, it's THAT good. The final dish I can't live without on a regular basis is the spicy pad kee maow (probably spelled wrong but you can sound it out proper lol). It's so tasty!! I typically go with a spice level of 6. Soooo ordered from Thai Basil through DoorDash after I tried to order over the phone. The phone number led me to a voicemail that said the mailbox was not set up for orders so I resorted to DoorDash. My friend Belle gave me heads up on this place when we went here for dinner recently. She says that this is one of her favorite Thai food places in the area, and was worth checking out. We ordered the beef salad, chicken pad see ew, and beef with oyster sauce. Everything came out in a timely manner and was delicious...and relatively inexpensive. The service was attentive to us since Belle is a regular and she knew most of the people that worked there. The place itself is cozy, with the traditional Thai decor. Their Larb and Rad Na noodle is soo good - flavourful and good portion. I've also tried the green curry which tastes good, too. Their Jasmine rice I can tell they use the good quality rice, not just the cheap type of rice like some Asian restaurants. It takes a little while to get the food done i came here on Tuesday night and it was quite busy- which is a good sign that their food are approved by many people. Thai food was introduced to me only a few months ago and I've been enjoying it since. The pad thai and pa nang are my regular orders at this fine little restaurant. They cook the meals to your specific requests along with their spice level. One thing though, their menu has "free delivery" written on it, however, every time I call in an order, the driver is not available. I went here with some friends and was not very impressed. One of the people in our group had been raving about it, but she had not been there in a couple of years so from what she said it sounds like the place has gone downhill. We started with Thai Iced Teas and the appetizer platter. I was going back and forth between Thai Iced Tea or a diet soda. I decided on the Thai Iced Tea after being told it came in a large glass (I like to drink a lot and the Thai Iced Tea doesn't have free refills). There were four of us in the group and 2 people got large glasses and 2 of us got smaller glasses. I got the smaller glass so I deducted a Yelp star in my head and tried to conserve my very small beverage. The appetizer platter was good enough, pretty standard fare. It had tempura broccoli, mushrooms, and onion rings, tempura shrimp, fried wantons, and egg-rolls. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. The sweet and sour sauce that it came with was a bit off. I guess the best way to describe it would be watered down. I love sweet and sour because it has that perfect texture that sticks to whatever you stick in it, but this stuff just fell off. Not a good start. I shared the Pad Thai with tofu and Pineapple Curry Roast Duck with a friend. The Pad Thai was nothing special. I find this to be the safe Thai dish because you really can't screw it up too badly. It was good, but again it was just kind of there, pretty average. The pineapple curry with roast duck was a real disappointment. I wasn't expecting anything fantastic, but there was hardly any duck and the little meat it contained was scrap mean at best. It was really bad, I don't think it was supposed to be chewy. I get that duck is expensive, but it wasn't one of the cheaper dishes on the menu, but pineapple is cheap, especially when you are clearly using a can opener to prepare it. There were only a few sad little chinks and I use the word "chunks" generously in this context. For desert we ordered the banana egg-rolls. Wow. It came with a weird gelatin citrus type sauce. I don't know what it was exactly, but I know what it wasn't, edible. The banana egg-rolls were about 1/8 of a banana wrapped like an egg-roll and then deep fried. It ended with the consistency of overcooked baby food. I knew better, but I tried a bite anyway. I should have gone with my instincts on that one. After we got the bill a few people threw in $20s and I put in my card. People were expecting change, like we had asked for. They returned my card, but no cash. They actually assumed that their awful food and sub par service would earn them a 40 something dollar tip? On a $52 meal?!?! We had to ask for the change again and then they kinda argued over it with us like we were trying to steal their money or something. While I would like to say it is over, the food is still reminding me of what an awful meal I had every hour or so. Skip this one, I endured it so you don't have to. read more

I am a true Thai food lover and have been to different Thai restaurants throughout Orange County, and Thai Basil has the worst customer service I have ever received in my life! No exaggeration here. I've been to Thai Basil at least a dozen times, despite the poor customer service because it has been convenient for me. I came into the restaurant with my 2 young children waiting at least 5 minutes to be seated. Please note that the restaurant was not busy, and there were available staff who stood there just starring at me. When we got seated, my baby started to cry. Instead of a staff coming to take my order, a staff approached me and asked me to take my baby outside because he is crying. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!! no one was complaining, nor was my baby bothering anyone. I told the staff my son is sick and is cold and windy outside. I informed the staff that her request is outrageous and rude. The staff kept insisting me to go outside until my baby stops crying and told me that a restaurant doesn't like a baby crying in their restaurant. I told her, don't worry, I'm leaving because I can't stand another second of this rudeness! THIS IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE! If you want decent food and HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE ...
