I was back in town for business & was needing a late night dinner, I felt like some Thai food & was hoping that during these tough COVID times one of my favorite family owned restaurants was open for sit down dining. I was pleasantly surprised that Amy's Thai Basil restaurant was open for business, I was sad to see I was the only one there just after 8:30 on Friday. My family has been going to Amy's restaurant for almost 20 years, back to when my kids were in middle school. As always Amy remembered me right away when I waked in. (sad to say it has been almost 2 years since my last dining experience since moving to Cent FL) As she was seating me she asked how I was then as always asked about my wife & each of my children. As she was sanitizing the menu she asked if I wanted my normal order, I said yes, everything came just as if I was there yesterday including all my special added requests, including the spice level different with each dish. We picked up a conversation like it was yesterday & discussed how tough it was to keep the restaurant going in these desperate times. The food was excellent as always. Everything so fresh, all of spices (not just the heat) as always shining through & still the wonderful large serving sizes. I also made a full take out order to take home with all my families favorite dishes. The last time I was there this place was full with a few waiting. In these times everyone who supported this restaurant in the past needs to continue their support of these locally family owned restaurants. The chains wil always survive but when these COVID times pass we will all still need the great feeling of dining in our local favorites that make you feel like family. Come dine in to see the nice upgrades to the interior are vey nice, as always Amy has this place sanitized to the Max including safe spacing. If you're not quite ready to dine in then then frequently order take out. Amy's Thai Basil is a true local gem & please do your best to keep this restaurant going during these times, so it will still be here when this passes & yes this will pass shortly. This was the first time we have been to Thai Basil. They have a very nice menu with lots of items we want to try in the future. The waitress, Amy, is very sweet and helpful. We ordered the Tom Kha Ghai soup, which was outstanding. Amy said the herbs came from her garden. I had the Panang Curry which was good, but had a lighter curry flavor than I am used to. Since they make everything to order, I will ask her to have it made stronger next time. My girlfriend had a shrimp basil stir fry that she liked a lot. She will ask for more basil in it next time. We look forward to returning to try some of their other delicious sounding menu items. read more

What a wonderful little hidden gem! This place is in a really unassuming location, but it's absolutely worth seeking out. Don't be put off by the small size and strip mall positioning - I've been to a lot of Thai restaurants over the years, and this one ranks up there as one of the best. Not only is the staff super-friendly, fast, and attentive, but the food is absolutely top-notch. Everything is made to-order, so nothing feels reheated or mushy. It's all crisp, flavorful, and fresh. The portion sizes are generous, and the selection has a ton of variety without being overwhelming. For appetizers, we tried the garlic edamame and the sweet potato tempura. Both were absolutely great, but I was particularly impressed by the tempura - hot, crunchy, and plentiful. We tried two curries (red and green) for dinner along with a soba noodle soup bowl, and we all loved them all. Large, flavorful portions with lots of tasty ingredients and just the right amount of spice. We finished the meal off with a warm sticky rice dessert that came with ice cream and a crunchy roasted coconut topping, and it was fantastic. My daughter, who is a vegan, and I went to Thai Basil for dinner on a Tuesday night. It was a little dark and there was only one other party eating, so we were a bit unsure. I'm very glad that we decided to stay. My daughter had several questions and it took a few visits from the server to finally place an order. She was very patient and informative, including assuring my daughter that everything was made to order using organic ingredients. She settled on the massaman curry with tofu and I had the drunken noodles with chicken. After we ordered, the server brought out two bowls of soup. She assured my daughter that her soup was a vegetable broth while mine was chicken broth. The soup was delicious: light and flavorful. The entrees arrived shortly thereafter. They looked beautiful and the smells were incredible. I tasted my daughter's curry and it was fantastic. It was not too thin and the flavors were spot on. My drunken noodles were delicious. The chicken, unlike some Thai restaurants, was juicy and tasted very fresh. The noodles were tender with a nice bite to them. The sauce was delicious, with a slight sweetness. I'm so glad that the server suggested this dish over the Pad Thai. I ate the whole plate. There are several very good Thai restaurants in the area, but Thai Basil stands above them all. For appetizers we had; Mee Krob, Papaya salad, Chicken Satay, Steamed dumplings (fresh)... did I say fresh. They have freshly prepared Thai food that is slightly different from other Thai joints. It seems more personal than some other Thai places the make their food according to the typical Thai template. Drunken noodles are great and try the sticky rice with mango for desert. read more

After living in Royal Palm Beach for over 15 years, we decided to branch out and try a new take-out place. We read some of the reviews and after not finding many, we decided to try Thai Basil. The customer service over the phone was very welcoming; however, the food was sub-par. There was a measly amount of chicken in the chicken pad thai dishes, and the singapore noodles had more cabbage than noodles. The tofu in the tofu pad thai was bland. By far the worst pad siew I've ever tried. I read the reviews prior to going to this place and was excited about trying the food. The establishment is nice and quaint. The server was adorable and sweet. The menu was overpriced for the quality of food received. Thai Basi by Amy is run by Amy and her husband. They are always there. It is a great locally-owned restaurant, and should be supported. It is a shame to see the bland, corporate-owned places along 441 packed with people while this gem is under-appreciated. My wife gets the Pad Thai wherever she goes. She ranks this place tops off all. Everything I had -- dumpling appetizer, some hard-to-pronounce Thai soup, Panang curry (and Singha beer, of course) was delicious. This is consistently the best Thai food in the area. My husband is addicted to the panang with the fried corvina. I was feeling under the weather a few days ago so we went there to get some soup. The Tom Yum Goon is the most comforting, umami tasting, healing soup ever. I crave this soup! Really good, big portions, low price, friendly people, good service. Only real complaint is was $2 extra for brown rice and hardly got any rice. For $2 would figure a bowl or rice but it was just a tiny little amount. Maybe they refill it for free but not sure because nobody offered or told us they did. We had 3 entrees each with brown rice cost $6 just for the rice and all 3 was probably enough for one person. Other than that food was amazing. Every time I go to Thai Basil I'm impressed with the food, and I feel welcomed by the staff's open and inclusive attitude. The owners are regularly there and interact with customers. My wife and I have eaten various dishes there and the food is always hot, tasty, and reasonably priced. The place is clean and has simple ambiance.
