Yes, the restaurant is in a nondescript shopping center with several closed stores. And, yes, the decor has a pedestrian Asian motif. But at Thai Basil, it's all about the food. The owner, Amy, prepares and serves the dishes herself. The food is delicious, the portion sizes are good, and the variety of options will satisfy everyone. I went for dinner with some friends (Thai Basil is not open for lunch), and we shared some appetizers and entrees. Everything was fresh and hot. The satay chicken skewers were tender and came with a nice peanut dipping sauce. The steamed dumplings were stuffed with chicken, shrimp and mushrooms - amazing! The drunken noodles with beef was our favorite entree. Simply delicious! We also enjoyed the masaman curry with chicken, coconut milk, potatoes and carrots. Lastly, we had the pineapple chicken fried rice. Although it was good, it did not stand out as a particularly inspired dish as compared to the others. The restaurant was not busy when we visited on a Thurs evening. We will definitely return and taste some of the other items on the menu. Amy clearly enjoys cooking for her guests and I hope she can continue to expand her business as more people hear about Thai Basil. Note: I was so excited to start digging into the food when it arrived, I simply forgot to take pictures. I now have another reason to visit Thai Basil again!

Easy to find in a large plaza, Thai Basil brings Asian food to an area that really lacks it. Most of the plaza is empty which is sad to see. Walking in, the host stand is way too close to the door. A bit awkward when another party is walking in with you. Luckily we were seated pretty quickly. The restaurant is not aesthetic and not much detail has been put into the dining room appeal. However, the food and price points do make up for it. We ordered an appetizer and a soup and they hit the table fairly quickly. The fresh rolls were great! The menu said it's created with teriyaki chicken but you can't really taste any flavor with the ground chicken they put inside. There's also carrots and bean sprouts accompanied with a light dipping sauce. The Tom Kha soup was thick but delicious. Our two main entrees were great. I ordered the singapore noodles. It was a bit saucier than I'm use to but I liked the concept of ordering a dish and adding your choice of protein inside. Our server brought our check to us at the perfect time and we were able to be in and out for dinner. I thought the food was pretty good for the area.

Service was great, papaya salad was okay, definitely wasn't fresh and the heat wasn't there for me . I give the heat level a 1. Price for this was $9

The food here was really delicious. The serving amounts were huge. My husband had a stir fried beef dish. I had shrimp with noodles. We enjoyed our meals. The prices for everything was very reasonable. Service was great!

The Tom Ka Gai Soup and Pad Thai my husband ordered were both delicious. I order Spring Rolls and Drunken Noodles which were not as good as the other dishes. Spring tools are very thin with not much filling and the noodles were not as flavorful as other places I have had it. Service was very good. The place is in a strip mall that is a bit dated.

First time at Thai Basil, we came for dinner and I can't wait to go back. I think this is the best red curry I've tasted! It was so flavorful and packs a bit of heat but not too much, and I had enough leftover for lunch the next day. Comes with a scoop of steamed rice on a separate plate. The owner (I think she's the owner, not sure) said the waitress was out, so she was on double duty cooking and serving, and the service was still very fast and attentive. She even makes everything herself fresh, even the curry sauce and chili paste! Highly recommend!

After passing Thai Basil everyday when I went to the gym I finally stopped in. The food was excellent as was the service. The chef will prepare your food however you want it. We asked for a dish not on the menu and they gladly prepared it. I will be becoming a regular! read more

Well, all the yelp reviews for this place are right. This place is great! We tried the coconut fried sweet potatoes which were very good, the spring rolls that had a great flavor the sauce they give you with it was just a bonus to add the all the great flavors. For dinner we had the red curry the sauce was very flavorful and had a good coconut taste. Also, we had the pad thai a little peanut sauce and it was ready to go! Great place I look forward to going back! read more

Not one negative thing to say about this place. We got here and it was dead don't let that throw you off. We sat down we ordered soup and hands down best soup tom yum goong and wonton. We all ordered something different and it was really good. Meat was cooked perfectly and noodles we're so good. I had the pad Thai so good. BF had ginger chicken an mom had pan woon seen (spelled wrong) deff recommend and will be back again!!! read more

We didn't even leave the parking lot before we wanted to leave this review. It was my son's first experience with Thai food and he went adventurous with the lemongrass curry. I had my tried and true pad Thai. Both were absolutely delicious and very fresh but the highlight of the evening was the Thai doughnut. It's a small establishment but the service was great and the owner was extremely charming. We ate way too much. read more

First time here. Only ones in the restaurant, but it was 8:30 on a Tuesday. We order Chang Beer, Miso soup, Wonton Soup, and the steamed dumplings. The beers and soups were great - dumplings a little weird. Our Shrimp Pad Thai & Chicken Fried Rice were delicious!!! Looking forward to leftovers for lunch!!! The fried bananas for dessert were perfect - little bites with honey, not too greasy! We grabbed a menu to have because I'm sure we will be getting to-go from this place soon!!!!! read more

Best Thai is the area for sure. We have eaten here for about a year now and every meal has been consistent. Excellent. Staff has been here for the entirety without change and they are attentive and polite. Amy, the owner, is present and shuffles between table touches and the kitchen. I just can't say enough about the quality of the food...it is probably the best Thai I have had in Florida and all at a great price. My wife is vegan and they are very vegan friendly. What happened to this place? Same sweet owner, same good food...but they've "remodeled ". No comfy carpet anymore. No cushions on the hard booth benches. It didn't look like they'd finished yet, though...I'll check it out again in a couple months and update my review. read more

This is the best Thai food in the area! I just had the most amazing Tom Ka Gai that I have ever had! I had to call Amy and compliment her on her amazingly flavorful Kefir lime leaves (I got take out). They brought such wonderful flavor to the soup; they were young and tender and I chewed on them to release even more lovely flavor into my mouthful. Amy and her husband make fantastic food that can't be missed! My favorites are Tom Ka Gai, Panang Curry and Drunken Noodles. If you like Thai food, YOU NEED TO GO TO THAI BASIL!!! read more

I love this restaurant. Everything they make here is so fresh, and tastes so fresh. I am ESPECIALLY wildly in love with the owner's ginger tea, which she makes from fresh ginger. I also LOVE the soba noodle soup (with kimchi broth)...And if you are sick, you DEFINITELY need to have both the ginger tea and the soup. This restaurant is my favorite restaurant in the Wellington/West Palm Beach area. It is very authentic, and the owner is extremely selective about using the best quality ingredients for all of her teas and her recipes. read more

One of the best Thai restaurants I have ever been to. The owner, Amy, takes pride in her high quality ingredients. Every dish has bright, beautiful color and presentation and a unique flavor. The only negative is that sometimes ingredient substitution/omission requests sometimes get lost somewhere along the chain of communication between front and kitchen, but the food is always delicious regardless. read more

Our first visit on a rainy Friday evening. Ordered the house salad. Fresh, crispy and very good ginger dressing. Mixed seafood combo with a garlic sauce. Delicious!!!! This is the best Thai restaurant in the area and the service is very friendly. I found this one after reading a review on Urbanspoon and the food looked really good. It tasted better than it looked and I have been back many times. I really enjoy their papaya salad and they really know how to make it spicy for you unlike other places I have been. Check them out and I am sure you won't be disappointed. They also do take-out so call ahead and just pick it up. read more

This Restaurant is fabulous. 'Thai Basil by Amy' is my favorite place to eat Thai Food. I have been to several Thai restaurants when I'm on vacation & traveling, and no other place compares to Amy's food. Her food is made fresh daily. It is reasonably priced. And it all tastes great, always! Amy is the best, so sweet! As is the rest of the staff! So welcoming and friendly. There are so many food options to choose from, there is something for everyone! Some of my favorites are the Pad Siew and the Cashew Nut! If you haven't been here yet, I highly recommend you try it ASAP! And no need to worry about dietary restrictions, I am a vegan and find plenty to eat here! read more

I asked about massaman curry and asked if it was yellow curry (traditional red, green and yellow curry can be found at most that restaurants). He said it was a little orange, yellow. But it had potato, which is generally a yellow curry, so I just ordered it. When the food came it was beautiful! Colors were vibrant and ingredients were fresh. I'm really picky when it comes to pad Thai, and this was excellent! The yellow curry was really good but would have liked to have been able to add a little spice to it when being prepared. Broccoli was a bit al dente but overall it was very good. We had to get up and request the bill and to go boxes. The server just disappeared. Again... There was one other couple that came in while we were there. Why are we waiting? Clearly we were done and ready for the next step. The service was just really bad! Anyway.. overall, the food is definitely good. We will be back to try the other curries and menu items. I just hope the service is better, because this time around it was really lacking!

I also enjoyed seaweed salad. I enjoyed the Thai food so much that I went back the next day. The service was good and prompt, environment was quiet and relaxed, and I will return for Thai again when in the area.

Let me start my review by saying the food was really good and worthy of a 5 star rating on its own…read more BUT...my experience with this resturant is a classic example of how service can just take away from the food quality. My work colleagues and I were greeted by a friendly host and sat at a table. But everything from service went down hill from there when our actual table server arrived. We were immediately greeted with "You ready", with a frowned face. We asked for water with lemon (never received) and was later served water from a pitcher (without lemons) only later to see an adjacent table served water from a picture with lemon and orange slices. Didn't make much of that. But when our waiter returned to take our order the second time, again with the same "you ready" frown faced I asked for help with the menu. I could hear her sigh so loud I wanted not to believe the feeling that we were bothering her in some way; and there was maybe only a quarter of the tables with customers. After placing our orders I asked my colleagues if they were getting the same vibe as I was from her and they both felt the same way. From my seating angle I could see this young lady server when she approached the front bar/seating area of the restaurant; which appeared to be where the other waiters all gathered when waiting. But I noticed her smiling and engaging in friendly conversation with two customers sitting at the bar. I noticed this difference from how she treated us vs these other guest throughout the entire time. With them she was smiling, engaging and not in any flirtatious way, but seemingly just being nice....being a good waiter. Clearly she was choosing NOT to be nice to us, and this bothered me internally because I did not know why. Our friendly greeter from when we arrived was seen serving another table and whose behavior was consistently friendly with everyone. So why the difference with our waiter I kept asking myself. I still gave a generous tip despite this service. It was important to me to do so, but I probably won't be back here, and this would have been a nice place to go back to with mi amor.

My order is always: Thin crust Lite on the tomato sauce Extra toppings: Meatballs and sausage! I don't know if you can see from my pictures but they are very generous with the toppings! So many other restaurants just sprinkle some toppings but here you definitely get your money's worth! Best pizza I've had in a long time! I love the patio! It's completely sheltered from the sun, rain etc! Even when it's very hot outside- their patio gets a cross breeze and they have big ceiling fans and it's very comfortable! Very calming! My only suggestion is to be able to split the music volume between inside dining and outside patio! The music is wonderful but with the road noise you can barely hear it. It would enhance your experience if you could raise the volume outside without raising it inside. It can't be that hard all the other restaurants do it.

She treated us like royalty. The pizza was fantastic and came out super quick! This pizza specifically is a high-rise (thick) crust cheese pizza with extra cheese, pineapple, and garlic in between the cheese layers. It was a very odd order but absolutely delicious. The sauce and the cheese they use is absolutely amazing. I really enjoyed my first time visiting Mario The Baker and I hope to go back again soon. (I don't live anywhere near.)

Our first visit to this highly rated spot. In a nutshell, spend your money elsewhere. Service began cordially enough, but I sensed the staff was simply going through the motions of their tasks and didn't really want to be there. So it begins: APPETIZER: Coconut soup was loaded with lemongrass & wood ear which made for an unpleasant experience - especially for my blind wife. I piled the lemongrass from my soup on a corner of my napkin, then did the same for her. MAIN COURSE: It was placed on our table as the staff whisked away our soup bowls and promptly left. They obviously saw we were dissecting our soup and didn't want to hear the objections. Wife ordered the cashew chicken - usually a safe bet. Not here. It was NOT more like chicken soup, it WAS chicken soup. Then again, chicken soup usually has some sort of flavor, this was bland and tasteless. Safe to eat, I'm sure, but not enjoyable in the least. I had the Panang curry chicken. It was actually passable; nothing that would lure me to make a repeat visit, or prevent me from trying a different establishment. SERVICE: The wait staff never once asked how our meal was or visited our table during the meal except to deliver the main course and drop off the bill. They seem to know their days are numbered. I don't give a one star review unless I get poisoned from the food, so two stars. read more

Thai Basil has great food. I am a person that likes my food very spicy. People that know Thai know what I am talking about when you ask for Thai Hot. Not hot, but Thai Hot. It is spicy to another level. I asked for Thai Hot and that is what I got. Perfect crispy Thai Hot duck. The next time I went I asked for Extra Thai Hot and got a little more heat than what I was expecting. That was my fault and I will stick with the yummy Thai Hot. The food is delicious. The ambiance is average and they could add a few more selections of Chardannay. That is the only reason I did not give them a 5 star. I will definitely be back. read more

I absolutely love this place. Authentic Thai Food cooked with passion that's why the food tastes so delicious. Thai Basil a family owner business with great food and service that is worthy returning. I recommend their Tum Yum Gon Soup. The best soup in town. My favorite is the chicken pad Thai. Yum, yum. I just ate here today. For dessert, I love the mango or ice cream sticky rice. This was our first time at Thai Basil our server was Melanie. She was wonderful! She was very attentive, warm, and friendly. The food was amazing.
