My first time picking up food to go was Saturday oct 13th. I got pork fried rice. Chicken fried rice. Appetizer fried shrimp. Green curry with chicken Green curry. Too much liquid. Not enough veges & chicken. Not great flavor. Shrimp. Tough and super salty. Both fried rice , just strange. Didn't taste right. We had 3 people try this food. It ended up in the trash. This place is really worth the visit. Very nice couple cooking up the best tasting Thai cuisine in Paso. They are very courteous, friendly. The price is very reasonable. Mostly a take out place, but we went there thinking it is an eat out restaurant. We sat there and had our dinner. It was like a family dinner and enjoyed every dish ewe ordered. What a find! We just spent a couple of nights in Paso, stayed in a cosy little AirBnB which was 2 blocks away from the Thai BBQ & Combo. Very friendly staff, very tasty food and great value. This fantastic takeaway saved us from walking to downtown and spending way more on some fancy meal. Will visit again next time we come on a wine tasting trip! read more

I order pad thai and spring rolls. I will never order from here again. Rolls were burnt and the thai was not good at all. They didn't mix the seasoning right so I just got a ball of noodles with all the seasoning on it. Please go to Thai Basil or Classic Thai instead. read more

I've had a lot of Thai food as well as have travelled to Thailand for food and this is not what you call Thai food. Serving in a styrofoam to go box while your dining in does not add well to the ambience. I ordered the green curry w beef and pad thai. The pad thai was sickly sweet and was very wet. I first saw this place 2 weeks ago on a previous stay in the area and was looking forward to eating there the next time in town. For me Thai food usually is very flavorful and somewhat spicy. I can only compare it to Thai Food I have had in the North of Malaysia near the Thai border and SF bay area. The staff was super welcoming and friendly. Can't believe that we have been sleeping on this place and are only discovering it after almost 2 years here. It's not much for ambiance (it's clean & tidy, but definitely a casual spot that probably does a lot of take-out), but for Thai/generally Asian food on the cheap, this place is great, and is definitely filling a need for this area. We checked it out last week for lunch. My husband is an orange chicken fiend, and theirs is a sliced katsu-style cutlet with a sauce that definitely tastes more fruity/orange-y than what you'd get at the American-"Chinese" chain that shall not be named. He also ordered pad thai to try (we are never against delicious Thai leftovers), and it was great. Maybe a tad sweeter than I usually make it at home, but the tables have plenty of sambal & chili options, so it was fine. I ordered the combo that comes with chicken red curry, thai basil chicken, potstickers, salad, and rice. Portions are crazy generous, and for $13 or $14, this was easily 3 meals. The curry was my favorite-- absolutely delicious & as good or better than what I've had at any other Thai place in North County. The basil chicken was, again, a little on the sweeter end-- I just doctored it up with some sriracha and was more than happy. Service was super friendly, and next time I will definitely have to try a boba or Thai iced tea. read more

This experience was so great! Max at the front was super awesome, and since it was my friends and I's first time, he let us sample the Thai tea which was AMAZING! I had the curry noodle which is enough for definitely 2 meals! This was my second time here... The giant combo of bbq beef, chicken chow mein, and fried rice was amazing and fed me and the missus. I also highly recommend the green curry with Tofu. The prices here are very reasonable, and the restaurant is family owned and operated. read more

4.4 actually. We were heading home from Santa Barbara to the Bay Area and stopped by here and found the Drunken Noodle and Yellow Curry well done compared to others in the Bay Area. The Thai Ice tea freshly made would rate as a 5+ overall and refreshing. Guy at the counter was gracious and friendly. We are locals and have been eating at Thai BBQ for 8 years. The food was always Authentic and great. Since the new ownership, the food taste completely different. The quality of chicken and shrimp are not acceptable and taste odd. The pad thai was awful and the fried rice was tasteless! We normally spend $50-$60 every visit. After 3 bad meals, we won't be going back. :( read more

I have always enjoyed eating here. I have always enjoyed my meals. It is set up more like a walk up than a sit down restaurant. I am no pro on Thai food but I like what I like and I like their food. The lunch specials are great for what you get and what you pay. The ladies are always friendly and welcoming. After having come here now many times over the last few years I can safely say this place is great. They are really good about swapping ingredients around, making things gluten free, or vegetarian, or whatever. I don't think any of the dishes I have had are award winning or the best version or representations of their native counterparts, but this is the kind of place I think that caters mostly to a Western palate and does it really well. I would say nearly all of their dishes are not spicy at all. Though I did ask for no spice for my wife and it was still spicy for her, though she does not handle spice at all. On the other hand when I have asked for spicy for my dishes, they know how to kick it up. So I appreciate that they are willing and able to make just about anything have some legit bite to it. It's super easy to make phone orders and food is always ready quickly. It's an easy go to for me, and while it's not blow your mind amazing, it is good, consistent, and tasty. read more

This is a tiny little spot with about 6 tables and a small bar for seating. Very clean and fast service, in addition to the Thai faves they also serve a good pho! My current fave is the Gateway mix combo, chili basil ground chicken in a savory sauce with bamboo shoots, red chicken curry (ask for your spice level) with rice salad and pot stickers.
