This restaurant was subpar, to say the least. The portions were miniscule. The teriyaki chicken was dry and the bowl of soup was not filling whatsoever. The amount of rice served wouldnt be enough to satisfy a small child. The water tasted like it came from the kitchen sink and my glass of soda was warm. I had Thai BBQ cater my wedding and I was so pleased. The staff and manager were so professional. I had talked to many people in town who failed to call back or act the least bit interested. Great place to eat and enjoy good Thai food. We often drive from Medford, Or, 30 miles for lunch. They are one of a very small number of Thai restaurants in our area open from 11 AM to like 9 PM. Our favorite course is Thai barbecue dinner (D6 ), which has the best Thai barbecue we have ever tasted. We recently had thai barbecue at PF Chang's in Eugene, Or. It was tough and tasteless. Tremendously Thai-rific! I think almost every kind of Thai food I have ever tried in is on the menu: salads, various rice dishes, a few soups including hot and sour, wonton, (most a little bit spicy). But my wife and I could not get enough of the pineapple rice. Comes with chicken and shrimp(though you could sub tofu), big slices of pineapple, a few slices of cucumber, peanuts, raisins, peas, carrots. Amazing taste and great amount. Our next dish was a set of 4 thick rolls with imitation crab. If a crab puff(aka crab rangoon) were to marry a spring roll, that would be their love child. The roll has a few vegetables, possibly including salary and carrots with a slight...maybe...marinated flavor. All covered in this sweet cream of cheese. The rolls came with the sweet reddish sauce I have noticed offered in several places specializing in sea food specifically, including Red Lobster, and it always goes well with seafood. For our drink we chose Thai tea. We haven't seen many places in town or its vicinity, which offer an authentic tasting Thai tea. For the price of about 30, we got a great deal of food. This was our only meal of the day, and we didn't need another. Even though I can eat for bets and can outeat most people of any size in any reasonable amount of time. We were so satisfied with this restaurant that visited it twice in a short span of time. Highly recommended. Really great food - still! I used to come here often, years & years ago. I'm talking like 12+ years ago. I moved away & occasionally visit town for family. I haven't had their food in probably 5 years & I was just in town this month. I ordered what I used to always get & the quality is still there - 100%! So are the portion sizes, which is so nice to see in an economy where inflation is out of control, so you're paying 30% higher prices for smaller portions & a lower standards of food quality. Yes, their prices have gone up dramatically, but I'm so glad the quality & portions are the same, if not better. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I did see very new photos of the menu with prices posted on Yelp (under a month old) & when I placed my order, I totaled the cost & when I picked up my order, it was a couple of bucks higher than what it should have been. Not a big deal, in the grand scheme - but still a little annoying. I'll be back for seconds when I'm in the area again. We had a party of four. This was the second time we went after the pandemic and the inflation. Food was great as usual, so was the service. However we noticed the prices have gone up 20% and the rations were much smaller. Don't seem to be worth going again. But what really tick me off was for being a Thai restaurant they did not have Thai chilis in fish sauce. When we asked for them, they brought some some hot chili oil and pickled jalopenos. Not thai. Well I really don't understand restaurants in Southern Oregon. Could be that I'm a Portland native and I'm just used to Portland restaurants. $8 for the Mongolian beef plate......really!?!? 2 thin pieces of beef with a single scoop of rice with 1 spring roll and what I assume is a lettuce only salad. $5-6 at any Thai restaurant or food cart in Portland would blow this away. Definitely one of those places you can always count on for a good meal, usually pretty fast and friendly service. And the price is fair as well. Try the fresh spring rolls if you like something on the healthier side. And the coconut lime soup is always amazing too. We often call in or pop on for take out on nights when we are to busy to cook. I came in 10 minutes after closing (I didn't notice the time and they hadn't locked the doors yet.) They were very nice and made me some chicken phad thai takeaway. The place was clean and smelled nice as well. She brought me an "on the house" appetizer while I waited, the food came quickly and I was on my way. The food was standard quality for the southern oregon area, good enough to eat all of it, nothing spectacular but nothing wrong with it. Overall the food is varied and tasty. There were 7 of us there last night, and I got to try several dishes. The pineapple fried rice with Shrimp and Chicken is wonderful. The monogolian beef is a bit too sweet and sugary for my taste, but very flavorful. The staff is perky and upbeat, and fun to be around. A rather plain looking place, where you bring your own "atmosphere". I am a fan of this place. Well priced dishes, and a staff that seems to care how they keep the place and how they interact with the customers. And I agree with the coconut ice cream review of the previous review. It was a salad of iceberg lettuce topped with a saucy concoction of ground pork, peanuts, shredded ginger and carrots in equal quantities, and plenty of chilies. It was VERY hot and very tasty, and something I haven't seen on other menus. When I think about Thai food, the first thing that comes to my mind is the coconut curry. My favorite Thai dish!!! I came to Thai BBQ two times and had curry in both. First I had the green curry with shrimp that was on the lunch special menu... I think it cost $7.50... Pretty decent for what I got, and the curry was delicious, especially with the bamboo shoots and the green peas!!!!! Second time I had the red curry from the dinner menu... I didn't notice any difference in portion sizes comparing to the lunch size, maybe it was a little bigger, I don't remenber, but it was equally delightful!!! So I sit down here at 3:00. By the time the waitress comes for my order it is 3:03. I ask if I can still have the lunch special which ends at 3 pm. Nope, it is too late. 3 minutes. Which is on them. All they had to do to get a sale was say sure, we will do the lunch special since you were on time but we made you wait. Apparently Thai BBQ would rather have no customers then bend their own rules. From the looks of it, I am not the o my customer they lost. Oh, and I have eaten here before. Way too sweet, overly westernized Thai food for retired grandmas in Grants Pass who can't deal with flavor. I wa actually trying to give them another shot but all I got was the lousy service.
