Great Thai food in Gresham that carried my family through the pandemic. I think my favorite is the lemongrass chicken, but picking a favorite is difficult because their menu is full of great stuff. Thai Carnation's Massaman curry is also excellent. Actually come to think of it, all their soups/curries are great. I really wanted to love this place! I had to lower it a star because of the spring roll appetizer we received. They did not match the ingredient description and tasted like the frozen ones I get at Costco which was disappointing. I got the king Rama (peanut sauce) with chicken and extra veggies. The portion was very generous and the sauce was delicious. I loved how they thinly slice the carrots so they cook all the way through. Also great that they include cabbage and broccoli to fulfill my fiber needs. The chicken was nicely velveted; thinly sliced against the grain and tender. The lady at the front counter was super nice and friendly. I'll definitely be back to try more of their dishes. read more

An adventure with the Grubhub App. A Tale of Two Hungry Souls. My bad. I've never used Grubhub before. I clearly had no idea what I was doing. Let's start with.... in this time of C-19 were all under pressure. But can we work on our communication skills in this new world? Friday. Hungry. I've been thinking about Thai Food for days. After finding Thai Carnation Restaurant and discovering it's one we've been meaning to check out. It was an easy decision. The food looked amazing. We ordered.. Pad Thai with Tofu. Sesame Yakisoba Teriyaki Chicken and two kinds of Spring Rllls, Tofu and the other was Prawns. Then I paid on-line through GRUBHUB. The Grubhub app. said our order would be ready between 7:26 & 7:40. We arrived about 7:35 and noticed my app now said our order would be ready between 7:44 & 8:04. Nothing we can do but wait. At 7:45 my Grubhub App. said my order was ready. I go inside and check. There is some confusion about my order. I tell the lady I ordered through Grubhub. She said it wasn't ready yet. I go back outside and we wait more. A little before 8, I go back inside to check again as quite a few orders have come and gone after us. I'm told again, its about 10 minutes. I go back outside and wait more. At 8:20 I go back inside. This time, I'm not happy. I find my order is in another spot by the kitchen. On a table with poorly written signs for Delivery Driver's so they can just walk in and pick up their deliveries. We arrived at 7:35 and didn't get our order till 8:20 and our ticket said our order was ready for pickup at 7:24. Like I said, I'm no Grubhub app. expert but it seemed easy enough. I ordered stuff. I paid. I went to pick up items to find it to be a huge hassle that I almost got mad at restaurant employees over...... Having said beware when you buy on-line. Our food was still hot. Do I think it was ready at 7:24 and sat on a table for almost an hour before I found it? No! It was still hot when we got home. Hot and delicious. I took a bite of my Wife's Sesame Yakisoba Chicken it was yummy. My Pad Thai Tofu was amazing. Deep flavor. My Wife tried her Prawn Spring Roll. Even managed to eat half her order. She was also unable to finish her main course. She said the Roll was awesome. I didn't try my Tofu Spring Roll. I knew better. The dinner portions are pretty decent size. I knew better than to try and eat it all. In reality. I didn't open my Spring Rolls because I couldn't stop eating my Pad Thai. So now I have a yummy Spring Snack today. We obviously didn't get a lot of interaction with the staff. The front of house was clearly busy and takicare of business as usual. The cook was on another level of relaxation. I saw him come up front several times to drop off orders and he was as casual and calm as a customer. Food was coming out in a frenzy (not my order but other's.) but this guy was calm, cool and collected. The dinning room looks awesome. Cool art and decor. I'm not sure about dinning in at night though. The stream of cars sitting in the Parking Lot, with their LIGHTS ON FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME, waiting for their TOGO Orders, blinding the people inside, is obnoxious. As one leaves, another arrives. There are a few cons here but after you figure it out, the food reward are worth it. AND this is across from my Doctors office. Nice. We'll definitely be back but I won't use GRUBHUB again. Not sure what happened there. I do know, we had delicious Thai Carnation.....eventually. read more

Fantastic meal! Thai Carnation took over a Chinese restaurant that used to be in its place for years. Nice little spot and a decent amount of parking. Ordered a to-go order over the phone; the meals were ready within 15 minutes! Not sure if this place is always that quick, but it was nice! ORDER: Pumpkin Curry w/Chicken - so good! The flavor was great. The pumpkin sank to the bottom of the container so I had to give it a good mix, but overall very good. Yellow Curry...came with chicken even though we ordered it with Tofu. That was the only mishap. Again, great flavor on the curry though. The portion size was pretty decent as well. Pad Thai - OK...not the best I've had, but it tasted much better than some of the other thai places in the area. Overall the food was yummy, we will definitely be back! I've never been to Thai Carnation before, but wanted some Thai to take home. The staff were friendly and helpful, making conversation while we waited. But... The food was either really good or really awful. Spring rolls and salad rolls=great Tom Kha soup=meh Orange chicken=awful. The "sauce" was watery, bland, with little bits of orange. Imagine putting pieces of deep friend chicken in a box and pouring juice from a can of mandarin oranges into it. No flavor at all. Crab puffs=no idea? They neglected to put them in the bag and I didn't notice until I got home. Unfortunately I depended on previous Yelp reviews which showed high ratings. We love Thai food - so decided to try out the local restaurant. They did not disappoint! Our waiter was very attentive and friendly, an excellent image of great customer service. The fresh spring rolls seemed a bit plain at first, but I ended up loving them as I was hungry. (I got them with just tofu) Red curry was yummy, it had surprisingly good eggplants in it. Price was a bit higher than my regular take-out, Thai Garden To-Go, where I pay $9. This order was $11, plus $2 extra for brown rice. Also noticed containers are smaller here. That said, they were polite and the curry was satisfyingly yummy. I ordered by phone and it was a fairly easy pick-up. Curbside delivery would've been a nice touch, but there was plenty of parking and it was only a short wait. Wouldn't hestitate to return when in the area. read more

Glass noodles stir-fried with egg, cabbage, baby corn, snow peas, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, celery, and bell peppers. I had the Pad Drunken Noodles. Stir-fried flat noodles with egg, bell pepper, sweet basil leaf, tomato, and onion. Served with fresh bean sprouts. I added chicken to my dish. We were both happy campers. I placed an order 10 minutes before they closed for delivery on a Saturday night (roughly 7pm). I ordered: Chicken Pad Thai (requested to be very spicy), Pineapple Fried Rice (requested to be very spicy), Mango Sticky Rice, Wonton, and Thai Iced Tea. Estimated delivery time was between 45 minutes to an hour long. I gave them a tip online with the order. The delivery happened on time surprisingly considering I ordered not too long before their closing time! Took 50 minutes exactly. The delivery process went smooth and they showed up to my house. The delivery person was kind and it was just a quick drop off. Upon opening up the bag of contents, I was greeted with two boxes (Chicken Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice), my Thai Iced Tea, and Mango Sticky Rice. There was a lot of Chicken Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice in those boxes. The food was great! I wouldn't say it was the best I've ever had (I've had a lot), but for your average tongue, it's more than good enough. I did think the Pineapple Fried Rice was lacking a bit of flavor and it was made with no spice (I ordered very spicy). The Chicken Pad Thai had plenty of spice and had good flavoring and consistency. The Thai Iced Tea was great and so was the Mango Sticky Rice. If you haven't already noticed, they forgot my Wonton. They texted me shortly afterwards letting me know that they forgot the Wonton and offered to bring it to me or receive a refund. I requested for them to just bring the Wonton. I received a text and phone call stating that they came to my house, and whether they really did or not, I did not see or hear anyone stop by my house (keep in mind it's already 8:30pm on a Saturday night). I told them I never received delivery, so I'd like to just go with a refund then. It's a bit of a hassle as I'd have to contact Eat24, but luckily it was a quick and easy process. I got my refund quickly. A messy ordeal for a forgotten order, so I'll have to dock them points for this. I will however give credit where it's due that they acknowledged their mistake and were working past their closing time on a Saturday night. Overall, the food was great and being able to have Thai food delivered on a Saturday night is a nice service. However, I do think they need to do better quality control on their orders to prevent future incidents. At least I got free napkins, plates, forks, and chopsticks! read more

I usually don't leave reviews. My mom and me went to eat here and it's usually pretty good. But this place has gone downhill since it opened. She orders a pad Thai chicken. The pad Thai tasted so fishy that she couldn't eat more than a couple bites. She let the waitress know and they didn't even offer to comp the meal. I even tried it and the fish taste was awful. I ordered a soup with chicken in it and the chicken just tasted old, like it was made a couple of days ago. Hi All, This was a 1st time visit AND WONT BE OUR LAST! You walk into a clean open space and are seated right away NO WAITING! Each table has hand sanitizer and floors and everything so clean. Immediate met with waters and server. I started with Thai Iced Tea and Mom ordered Thai Iced Coffee and super high quality right off the bat so we knew ok they STARTED WITH A BANG! We then ordered appetizer of their spring egg rolls that came out fresh and made with glass noodles and veggies. For lunch we ordered the Yellow Chicken Mango Curry made with coconut milk and the smooth flavor was creamy and rich with flavor! We also ordered their Pad Thai with Chicken complimented with housemade peanut sauce that was delish!!! Almost forgot to mention the spring rolls made with glass noodles and veggies with their house dipping sauce. While server was taking our order we FOUND OUT SHE WAS THE OWNER! She mentioned they are tucked back and like so many were affected by pandemic. Her heart for the quality of food coming out and passion was so genuine and can tell she loves what she does everyday.
