Daughter had lacrosse game nearby so my husband and I stopped by this place. We ordered 2 of our favorite Thai dish- drunken noodle and cashew chicken. Cashew chicken was really good- sauce was so flavorful, mixing it with white rice was soooo tasty. On the other hand, drunken noodle was a bit off. We ordered it with tofu- tofu was good but the noodle was a bit undercooked. Also the flavor wasn't there. Regardless, we will be returning to this place to try other dishes. read more

I've been here so many times and decided that it was finally time to post a review. The larb gai salad has been delicious every time I've gotten it. And after trying every appetizer on the menu at one point or another, we know you really can't go wrong with any of them! Though I will add, what really blew us away was their dessert. Thai fooooood! I live really close to Thai Cuisine but that's not the reason why I go here... The food is so damn good! I typically get take out or delivery but have eaten inside once. Beware, the place is pretty small and they're staffed based on necessity, so don't come here expecting exceptional service -- though they are very friendly! My go to dishes: - Pad Pik Khing: I find the chicken is rather dry and sucks up too much of the sauce, so I prefer to get the beef. There are tons of string beans! Yum. I like my string beans on the softer side, so I'll stick to ordering this one for take out (where they can sit in the closed container, as opposed to being served immediately on a plate). - Pad Ka Pow: very flavorful... tons of meat and a decent amount of bell peppers. - Kao Pad Kee Mao (drunken fried rice) - Pad Thai: the tofu one is the besssttt. The tofu is already a teeeny bit sweet on its own and having it with the noodles and peanuts just adds so much to the flavor. - Curry Puffs: the only annoying thing about these is that it only comes 2 per order... and they're not very big. :( Side note: The last time I was at Thai Cuisine I got regular white rice with my dish instead of the jasmine rice. I felt i needed to do a much more in-depth review compared to my last one, especially since it is the best in Olney and i have tried so many items that a couple lines couldn't do it justice and to inform anyone wondering about certain dishes The Spring Rolls are always a standard that I can trust, it comes with a sweet and sour dipping sauce that complements the crispness Chicken Satay has a subtle seasoning and two dipping sauces, a sweet peanut sauce and cucumber sauce which is light and refreshing The mix of crab, shrimp and chicken in the Kanoom Jeeb is a delight wrapped in a wonton skin, the Thai soy sauce has more flavor then a standard soy sauce and pairs with it well I really like the texture of the Fried Tofu, it isn't too soft on the outside like you find in many places, much more firm and golden fried, come with sweet and sour sauce Tom Yum soup has a sharp flavor of lemongrass that is a great appetizer choice, recommend getting it talay which is shrimp, scallops and squid Been a while since I had the Tom Ka but I recall it being rich, rarely have it since it is heavy on the coconut broth The Pad Thai is nicely flavored, perhaps the go to standard of any Thai menu, but is very well executed here, the noodles are well marinated, which some places can screw up, but not here The Kee Mao has more kick then I first would have expected from the chilies, but it a manageable kick and it contrasts both the more mild Pad See Ew noodles marinated in Thai soy sauce The Panang Curry is a relatively mild red curry that has some heat but not as hot as one would expect, The Gang Keow Whan green curry seems about the same heat as the Panang but comes with bamboo shoots and eggplant so typically prefer that. It is quite hearty being made with coconut milk so I don't get it often and I should note also the level of heat I describe is mild in comparison to other places which and make you sweat in seconds, but at the same time I have seen people have it who aren't used to spicy foods have a hard time with it, just depends on your experience and tolerance with Thai curries When it comes to entrees I tend towards spicier dishes, so my memory of the mild dishes is lacking for the most part, but recall enjoying the sweetness of the Pad Peaw Whan, it is very different then the flavor of sweet and sour dishes from a Chinese place for sure, I ultimately prefer Thai style Pad Ka Pow has a heat that seems to creep up on you over time, a little garlic, basil and chili goes a long way, they offer it Talay style with shrimp, scallops and squid which i recommend Pad Num Pik Pow is a recent favorite of mine, with a healthy mix of bell pepper and onions, it has a texture that greatly complements the chili paste which has a distinct sweet and spicy flavor My all time favorite would have to be the Pad Pik Khing, it uses a transcendent curry paste over string beans that grabs you in such a way that makes you come back for more After all those tasty items it is best to finish with Fresh Mango and Sticky Rice, a sweet palate cleanse Hands down not just the best Asian option, Delivery option, etc, but the best in Olney read more

I was excited to try this place because it came highly recommended by several coworkers and acquaintances. Sorry, but I've got to be honest. Put bluntly -- It's Thai food for the white suburbs. In other words: inauthentic, bland (overly sweet w/ not enough sour/spice), and overpriced. The noodles are mushy and there are always gobs of noodles stuck together, which leads to parts of the dish being white and undersauced. The tofu has a dry texture. Dishes are undergarnished (not enough peanuts, lime, fried basil, cilantro, etc. to add much taste). The Thai iced tea wasn't terrible, but come on.... It's black tea over ice with half-and-half. Not hard to make. I gave my second star for the polite (but slow) service and that fact that they are actually trying to bring some non-franchised Asian food to Olney. Still, I think all these 5-star reviews are written by the same people who rave about lo mein when reviewing Chinese restaurants. To each his own, but Thai Cuisine and chicken lo mein? Not for me. I have eaten from Thai Cuisine many many times over the past few years, so a review is long overdue. Everything I've ordered has been high quality, but if I had to choose a "go-to dish", the Pad Num Pik Pow with tofu would be it, with chicken satay and spring rolls on the side. The flavors and textures contained within are multitudinous and mind-blowing. The spicy dishes are "just right." Lovers of the zing won't be disappointed, while rookies won't be overwhelmed. A close second is the Pad Ka Pow Talay, a spicy seafood dish (shrimp, scallops, squid). My inner gourmand quickly becomes my outer gourmand when a plate of this sits in front of me. Thus, I order it sparingly. I would be remiss to ignore the Mango with Sticky Rice. It is the only dessert they offer, yet it is the only dessert you need. Trust me. The fresh, sweet taste makes everything--lips, tongue, throat--do the Snoopiest Snoopy dance this side of "It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown." read more

There are probably better Thai restaurants in DC or Bethesda (that I haven't been to) but I spent 3 years in Tempe, AZ which has a sizable amount of Thai places, and NONE of them matched up to this place when it came to flavor. And it's a tiny place in Olney. The star of the menu is by far and away the Pad See Ew. I almost always get it with beef. The drunken noodles and the spicy beef are also top tier. Now, as I said earlier, there might be better places if you're willing to drive closer to the district, but you'll probably pay 50-100% more per dish, especially to get the portions they give you here. You see, not only is this top-notch Thai, but it is also CHEAP especially when you consider the quality of the food vs the amount they give you. I have to be pretty hungry in order to finish a full plate when I order in. I have been a fan of Thai food for years but haven't gone to a ton of Thai restaurants. We used to go to one in Columbia, that has always been decent, but in recent years was not as good as in the past. So when Thai Cuisine opened right around the corner in Olney, we had to try it. .... and we were wowed. The place is tiny, with a lower case t. A few tables, tastefully decorated. The staff is very friendly and warm. The food is EXCELLENT! You taste fresh ingredients, they all come together in a symphony of flavor and yet at the same time, you can taste the fresh ginger, garlic, peanut. Some places are tasty but the flavor is just this one note. AT Thai Cuisine, you can discern each note, making up the whole tune in your mouth. My experience of different Thai restaurants is somewhat limited, but this place has always made me happy and the price is very reasonable. I give it 5 stars because to me, the food is that good. But I only ever get pad-thai or pad-se-ew, veggie fried rice and veggie spring rolls. read more

We've had lots of Thai in the D.C. area and this place is our favorite. The prices are reasonable, the food is delicious (and we've tried almost all of it!) and the staff couldn't be any more friendly. The ONLY problem we've ever had with this place is that it is CLOSED MONDAYS. It's amazing how many Mondays we wanted Thai food and couldn't get it here! Knowing that now, though, we almost never go elsewhere for Thai - and we live much closer to 3 different Thai restaurants. We've eaten in and yes, it IS tiny. But we have never had a wait longer than 20 minutes for take-out, except when we ordered 10 separate dishes - and even then, it was ready in 40 minutes! read more

The majority of my family was in town visiting my grandpa and DC this past weekend. We decided to get take-out from Thai Cuisine after tracking it down on Yelp. We were all thoroughly impressed. The location was a little hard for our GPS to track down because it's such a small shop. There isn't a whole lot of seating and it's clearly more of a take-out place. We ordered: Pad Ka Pow Country (with chicken) Cashew Chicken Pad Thai Authentic Thai Beef Salad Kao Pad Kee Mao (drunken fried rice) (two orders one veggie and one chicken) Something with coconut milk but I couldn't tell you what it was. Everything we ordered was delicious. As good as I've had anywhere else. The drunken fried rices were inconsistent (the veggie order was unbearably spicy, we couldn't eat it, but that was the only downside of the entire meal). Even after tossing one dish we still had enough for all six of us, and enough left over for an extra six individual meals. Next time I'm visiting in Silver Springs I'll be making a return visit. read more

This place is delicious! I can understand anyone's apprehension for finding GOOD Thai food in Olney, of all places. But really, this place is yummy! The green and panang curries (any protein of your choice) are super flavorful and their drunken noodles aren't too greasy. The portion sizes are perfect, not too glutenous and not too skimpy, just the right amount to go home with decent leftovers. I would compare their flavors to Tanad Thai in NW DC (their curries taste very similar.) One food item I do not recommend is their Yum Woon Sen (if you are an avid fan like I am.) It's not the most flavorful here (it's not bad either,) and unfortunately they give you more lettuce than they do glass noodles. The restaurant is very small. If your party is larger than 3 people, you might want to consider takeout since seating is VERY limited. Additionally, service isn't the best. The last time we went in, the server seemed very overwhelmed *even though there are only 4-5 tables in the entire restaurant. (Small price to pay for the delicious food.) I gave this place 4 instead of 5 stars because our server (in addition to her not so pleasant demeanor) screwed up our appetizer order (brought us the wrong thing!) and never returned to our table for us to remind her of what we really ordered. We ended up just eating it because we were STARVING. No biggie, because it was delicious. Also, it was practically impossible to get her attention when we needed drink refills. Overall, I would DEFINITELY recommend coming here for your Thai fix! But go for the food and not so much a 'nice dinner out.' read more

If you like a small family-owned thai restaurant, you've come to the right place. My dad and I enjoyed a 3 course meal here, starting with crab in tofu sheets-it's crispy and good, but it wasn't as crabby as I wanted it to be. I had a regular pad Thai and my dad had the seafood fried rice (Kao pad) which were both flavorful and spicy. I expected more seafood in the friend rice though. We had the mango sticky rice for dessert which was too sweet and just not "desserty" since it's rice and very heavy! You definitely wouldn't know anything about this place unless it was though word of mouth or you took a random trip down GA Avenue and thought to yourself, hmm i wonder what this place is. Anyway, its a very small, family-owned restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and quaint decor. The staff is very friendly with loving spirits. There is a large menu selection followed by even larger portions. You get just as when you order in as you take out. Love this hole in the wall place. It's not my first choice for dining in because it's so tiny, but it's terrific for take out. Our favorite dishes are pad khing with chicken (#402), pad ma keau (#902 - Asian eggplant, green peppers, basil and chili paste), and kao pad poo (#802 - crab fried rice). The pad see ew is good too - noodles have a nice chew to them and it's not oily. I like it with tofu. After going to Thailand last fall, this is a great reminder of the generous, comforting food we had there. Portions are huge. Prices are cheap. But call early - the kitchen has got to be itty bitty and they're getting popular. The wait for take out is usually 30-45 minutes. read more

You've got cozy, and then you got Thai Cuisine Cozy. There are maybe 5 tables which means they didn't really intend on a booming dine in business but the food is fire. I came with the fam bam for dinner one night at Thai Cuisine. It blends in well so make sure you keep an eye out an drive slow as you approach. We drove by on accident the first time. It only took a couple minutes to be seated. Try to get seated at the back tables, it makes for a more intimate experience. We ordered the curry puffs and the chicken satay. Both were very good and I really liked the peanut sauce. Our entrees came out soon after the appetizers and everything was hot (temperature). Nothing like a good green curry on a cold night! I'm a level 3 green curry expert, still working my way up to level 4, but I really enjoyed the green curry that I ordered. It had a good base level of spice, and the mouthfeel wasn't overly rich. I always get chicken but I'm sure they let you sub in tofu or another protein if you'd like. I tried a bit of the drunken noodles which were also tasty. This place used to be consistently good, but last couple times have been disappointing. Last night we ordered soup, fried chive dumpling, chicken cashew, and spicy crispy beef. The soup was very good, as was the dumpling, although it was served steamed and not fried. Didn't notice that the dumplings were vegan (not clearly displayed), but they were the star of the show. I wonder if vegans like them. The chicken was tasty, but overly sweet for my taste. It was like a stew, but only had a few cashews for show. Sweet chicken stew would be a more accurate name. The crispy beef was so over cooked, it was like shoe leather. It used to be delicious. Maybe the cook had a bad night, but it was not edible. I gave 3 stars mostly based on the past. We got tons of take out from Thai Cuisine recently. They only deliver within a 3 mile radius, and we were at about 3.5 miles, so we made a trip to the restaurant. It is TINY inside, though it's nicely decorated and very clean. This would not be a place to take a group just based on the size, but sometimes it's more fun to eat at home anyway. I tried all of the following, and I thought it was all definitely above average but not necessarily life changing: -Pad Thai: Good flavor, not overly peanut-y, kept well for leftovers, maybe a little heavy on the bean sprouts -Chicken Kao Pad Kee Mao: good flavor, probably not the best chicken/rice dish I've ever had but not bad -Veggie Kao Pad Kee Mao: crazy spicy to the point that I really couldn't eat it :( -Cashew Chicken: Really yummy, chicken seemed pretty high quality (no real mystery meat concerns), would have liked more sauce and veggies -Chicken Pad Ka Pow Country: pretty spicy but tolerable, lots of great veggies including green beans, was great leftover We weren't asked to specify our preferred spice level for any of these dishes, but with the exception of the Veggie Kao Pad Kee Mao, everything was pleasantly spicy (maybe 2 on a scale of 1-5). This is my go to place for Thai food in the area. I've gotten take out from them at least 50 times (yes, I love Thai food that much), and they're consistently good. I enjoy everything from the pad thai to the drunken fried rice to the mixed vegetables to the deep fried catfish. They're also good with special requests, although sometimes they have issues turning down the spice level on dishes. The only thing I don't love here is the meat, so I just get tofu, which is always delicious. Overall, a very solid pick if you're in Olney. read more

Got carryout from here and their food was pretty good and price was reasonable. From the outside, I was a bit unsure but once you walk in you will find yourself in a cute and cozy little place. There was only one table eating there when I walked in but they do have quiet a bit of carryout from what I see. It's one of those places that gets their name out and business by word of mouth. We ordered the pineapple fried rice, chicken pad thai and beef pad see ew. Everything was pretty good and they give fairly generous portions. What can I say? It's like finding money stashed in the attic of your home. Right here in Olney is perhaps the best lunch money can buy for under $7. The green curry with beef is so good it was upsetting to watch it disappear, albeit into my own tummy. The portion is perfect. The texture and flavor are simply great. They're really good with beef in particular; slices are succulent and fresh. I usually decline the appetizer the comes with the lunch, simply to keep my palate clean. That's how fine the dishes are.
