Found this place when we're in the area and was looking for dinner spot. At first I thought this is the same restaurant that we went to months before the pandemic happened. Apparently it's not after I checked out Yelp, so decided to give it a try. We chose to dine in when we see the inside is pretty empty (only see a couple that are already eating). The atmosphere is similar to other Thai restaurant and the place is clean. The menu is quite simple (on 2 plies of paper) but it works for us. Ordered the fried tofu for appetizer, green curry with rice, beef pad thai and broccoli noodle for us and the food surprisingly came out within 5-10 minutes. So far so good. However our pleasant experience started to go downhill afterwards. The fried tofu was bland and doesn't go well with the sweet chili sauce that seems to be store bought. The green curry with level 3 heat is way too sweet and the meat (beef) is too tough. My pad thai although has a decent amount of peanuts and quantity of noodles versus meat, however the beef was also tough that I ended up have to eat without the meat. The broccoli noodle is the only one that's good enough but still a little too sweet even for a non spicy noodle. The service was great though. The pricing is pretty reasonable and comparable to other similar restaurants. Giving them 4 stars for the overall experience. read more

I've visited a few times since they switched to Thai Esarn. The food changed dramatically, so I'm assuming they also changed ownership. The food is a major bummer. Everything I've had since the change has been disappointing. The pad thai just doesn't taste right. It tastes more like a soy sauce-heavy stir fry than that classic pad thai taste you envision with fish sauce, tamarind, etc. The noodles are overcooked. This most recent visit today I asked for no green onions or bean sprouts but alas, they both made an appearance. The curries are nothing special either. Too runny (a good curry is already pretty thin) and not much flavor. Beef chunks were hard and not tender. The interior is the same, comfortable but nothing special. Service is fine. Unfortunately, that's it for me. I'm bummed because it's pretty easy to get to from my work but it's just not worth it to be disappointed every time. :( read more

I traveled extensively for business in Southeast Asia and enjoyed several visits to Thailand. We first experienced Thai Esarn in their attractive dining room and have since ordered take away on four occasions. The food selection and quality is excellent and it is my wife and grandson's favorite Asian restaurant. Although the food is excellent and authentic, I always order the Eggplant Curry with tofu, a classic dish I have enjoyed at many restaurants in Thailand, Malaysia, and wherever it is on the menu. The only minor suggestion I would make to improve the dish is to slightly brown the tofu before adding it to the curry, but it is always excellent with a heat level of four or five. All appetizers, soups, and noodle and stir fry dishes have been tasty and it is our first choice for Thai food. Highly recommended! read more

Mind the spice number you select, because as they forewarned they will give you authentic heat if you ask for 5 or more (I'd say spicy hot is anything past about a "4"). Everything was sooo good, except the wait. And actually the food was worth it but you maybe need to cater to in-house guests over call in orders. I revisited today and 5 stars!! I ordered the vegetable delight which is a delicious broth filled with tendercrisp veggies and I had mine with fried tofu. This is so so so good. I've tried ordering this at other thai places in Omaha and they don't compare. I grabbed a few appetizers too and delicious. Will definitely be getting take out from here a lot more often. We were craving Thai and not many places are open on Sundays so we gave this place a try. We walked in and I was delightful surprised by how nice the place was for a little hole in the wall. It was super clean and just had a nice casual vibe. The menu is super nice and easy to read with lots of great choices. The food was AWESOME. Literally some of the better Thai food we've had in Omaha. Potentially the best pad Thai. My fiancé got the beef drunken noodles and he said the beef was so good. It wasn't almost rubbery like some places. And I concur that my chicken was more tender than most! The heat of our dishes was perfectly what we ordered and everything was just fantastic. Great sauce to noodle ratio for everything. I will say the wait was long. Very long. They had a ton of to go orders which slowed down our food and I'm not going to lie, while sitting there for almost an hour I got hangry -- but they were very apologetic about it and even discounted some of our check which was nice. We understood it's not their fault all of the to go orders came at once. Bad timing! I will say the table behind us called and ordered ahead of time before dining in and we may do that again just incase this is a reoccurrence. Second time here. Got the appetizer combo great deal especially for two. Hubby got the Bangkok Currie with pork. The flavor rich and lots of veggies. I got the pad Thai with tofu and they did not skimp on the tofu!! Full flavor. We both got spice of 6 out of 10 for perfect heat. Their plum wine a great complement for the heat. I would of thought it would of been ready since I arrived late. The place had nice decor and ample of available sitting. Driving back to her house I could smell the strong scent of the yellow curry and pad Thai. The Pad Thai was delicious, enough for two people and some. It didn't really have enough chicken as I had expected. The yellow chicken curry also was good. There were enough food as we also ordered the spring rolls, egg rolls, and Thai tea. Pad see ew (disguised under a different name) was smoky and plentiful. Drunken noodles with a side of peanuts was full of flavor and lightly sweet, it could have used a bit more basil and veggies. The young female server was perfect. The Thai iced coffees were a tad too sweet but this could be rectified easily by ordering half the condensed milk. I really enjoyed my food today! Our favorite Thai place is now far from where we currently live, so we have been on the hunt for a new place nearer to home. I had never eaten here before, but I noticed many good reviews from the new ownership. It was a lazy Saturday, so this time we ordered through Postmates. My only complaint would be that the Postmates menu has not been updated yet, so there were a couple items I ordered that were no longer on the menu. The lady was very nice about explaining similar items I i might like, but I decided this time to just take those items off my order. The items we kept on the order were hot, fresh, and delicious! I'm sometimes weary about ordering fried appetizers from delivery because they can be gross by the time they get to you. These must have been super fresh when they got to our driver because they still tasted great! I would suggest the appetizer sampler because it let me try things that I wouldn't have normally ordered, but will now be favorites. The green curry was probably my favorite that I've ever had. The eggplant added a new flavor and texture that I haven't had before. There was a slight sweetness that was also different and complimented the spicy flavor. I would say the portion sizes were better than some other Thai places, but it wouldn't hurt to add a little more rice on the side for curry orders. Rice is cheap and adding extra makes it feel like you can get two meals out of an order, which makes me feel like it's a great value and I order more often. This is the first time I had been back here since the name change. I decided to order something I had never tried before and was delighted with my choice. I enjoy the heat and had the Ginger dish with Shrimp at a level 8. I personally had to request some more chilies on the side to bring up the heat level but I'd rather have to do that then be disappointed with it being too hot. The young man who took care of me was very nice and always made sure my ice water was filled which is essential when eating spice Thai. heckin' good Thai. If you read any of my stuff, you know that I have a penchant for spicy food and I like tofu. The fact that I know I can get tofu and spice at any Thai restaurant makes it easy to just pick one and go in. Panang Curry or Pa Nang, Pa Neng, or however each describes it is pretty much the same thing. Coconut milk based red curry with veggies (mostly peppers and onions, baby corn, sliced carrots) and is a good way to tell if they are doing a great job. Thai Esarn is doing really good in Omaha. The lack of Chili oil droplets on the top of the sauce means a lot to me. A savory spicy (7, whoa!) and excellent heat. the rice was just rice, but they have decent beer and wine to accompany the food. I ate my leftovers cold and will gladly do so again. read more

I was told this place had the best Thai in Omaha... no. The service was great. But my dish, noodles and broccoli like a pad see yew, was WAY too salty. And my date didn't like her Popeye chicken. They asked how spicy I wanted it on a scale from 1-10, I asked for 4. It was so spicy I couldn't finish half. It made me sweat and my nose to run. I moved to a different location at work and I absolutely love Thai food so I decided to try the closest one to my work. First of all I wanna start by saying the service was excellent. I was promptly seated, and my order was quickly taken. The food came out tremendously fast. So as far as I am concerned this place gets an A++ for service. Now on to the most important part: the food. As always with a new Thai restaurant I always try their pad thai. I also ordered a cup of the Tom Yum soup. The entrée came with a vegetable fritter and a fried vegetable roll which were both excellent. Unfortunately I was not very satisfied with the pad thai or the soup, which to be honest is probably not the restaurants fault and I will tell you why. There are different types of pad thai recipes all around Thailand. Seriously you can go to one part of Thailand and then visit another and the recipes are completely different. The only way I can describe Thai Esarns recipe is it seems to have ketchup as one of the ingredients in the list. Some people may love this but I'm just not one of those people. The soup was colorful and had good ingredients but the broth just wasn't my favorite. As of now my absolute favorite pad thai in Omaha is made by Mercy Thai on 96th and L. It's divine. read more
