First thing's first: I'm not a fan of Korean BBQ per se. I don't see the logic of going to a…read morerestaurant to pay for the privilege of cooking. However, sometimes you gotta get out. Kanpai is in a prime place along Rockville Pike, but depending on when you go you may find easy parking. (If you're not bothered about where to park, ignore what I just said.) Out front there's something that looks like a tuk-tuk or rickshaw. Tbh, don't know if it's theirs or the business next door. The restaurant itself is clean and elegant. Also, not as loud as some Korean BBQs (thinking of KPOT off of Randolph Rd), which is important if you don't like being overwhelmed by everyone else's noise. That is one big '+' in Kanpai's favor. The waiter was cool and very helpful. Because of him I now know what the thin meat slices are meant for (which is for the soup), before then I had no clue. The food itself is good. Like, why wouldn't it be? I actually prefer the shabu-shabu (soup), makes me wish I knew how to do that myself so I wouldn't have to go out as much. Yes, the grill meats were great, as was the kimchi. These places are not cheap, but it was enjoyable while I was there. If you're not in a rush you can go a few doors down afterward to an import store selling everything from K-chips to puzzle-kits. So I would say...take your time. But don't warm your seats for more than 90 minutes, as Korean BBQs tend to kick people out (nicely, nicely) if one overstays. P.S. I'm sure they have some great drinks there, but even if I wanted to I couldn't loiter. That's what Bethesda is for. (Or at least how it used to be.)

Our server, Kelley, was great. She explained how everything works here. The buffet is pretty extensive and you can get full from that alone. They have an option to just do the buffet (during lunch hours). There is a good selection of meats. there's a robot here that brings stuff to the table - pretty cool. We were stuffed! It's a bit pricey but was worth it. I would visit again.

Was looking for a restaurant to try in the Rockville area so, I was sifting through google and happen to find this restaurant. The parking lot is shared by many restaurants but it moderate size so no issue finding a parking space. Upon entering on a Monday at noon time for lunch we were seated fairly quickly. The interior was very clean and modern with nice music playing in the background. We decided to skip the appetizers and instead ordered three entrees which were the boat noodle soup, chicken pad thai, and the crab fried rice. For the boat noodle it had medium spice but don't let that fool you. The first sip of broth had me coughing and birth was flavorful. The pad Thai had a good flavor but the best pad Thai will always be at mi lay cay in Wheaton. Crab fried rice had good portion size and flavor also good. All in all, had a good experience here and would recommend anyone to come and try this place. Will be back in the future to try the different variety of dishes.

The Little Hanoi was interesting. I didn't enjoy it much. The Laotian papaya salad was good, but it was overly salty and saucy. I came on a Friday (a day before the holiday) and they didn't have AC, so it was hot inside. The ambiance is also pretty dimmed and mostly using natural lighting. It is a pretty busy restaurant I'd say for being in the corner/back of the shopping center.

It's a little bit tricky to find as the main sign is up as a sign which can be easy to miss. The space is intimate with limited self serve seating. They also have outdoor seating as well. Started out with the Crab Rangoon which was crunchy and crispy, filled with the Rangoon. The neighborhood bird was voted best chicken sandwich in Baltimore and I can see why. The sandwich is on a steam bun which had a sweetness to it. The chicken thigh is large and filling, seasoned well and goes well with the mayo, pickles and herbs. The crispy shrimp bowl came with fried shrimp lying on a bed of basmati rice, some pickled vegetables and herbs. Definitely have to mix all your ingredients together to get the maximum flavor. The Yuzu drinks were refreshing. The white peach flavor was delicious. Overrall the meal came up to $66 with a 20% tip. Seemed like a lot of people order online for pick up. There is no parking lot just gotta find street parking which was not difficult to locate.

My friend and I split the cost since we were planning on having a second lunch after this lol. The sandwich is a crab cake + softshell crab on a very soft bao bun. It was pretty good but it was alittle lukewarm since we were late for our pick up (so our bad). Very good sandwich with delectable flavors with the crab cake full of meat and the crunchiness of the softshell crab. Pretty solid sandwich! Im not sure if its worth the price point but I appreciated as is.

The avocado roll, although a simple arrangement of rice, seaweed and avocado, was very good. A nice big chunk of avocado in each piece. The steamed dumpling (6 in the serving) were large, each with a good texture and nice flavor inside. The inside veggies taste like what I would associate with the vegetable insides of an egg roll. Nothing fancy, but tasty. We ordered from the Healthy menu to be . . . healthy. It's billed as no oil, low salt and sauce on the side. In addition to being tasty, the meats were flavorful and had a good chew, and the veggies were nice and crisp. The sauce on the side concept really worked for us. We used total a little more than half of one (the garlic sauce) and a little of the other (brown sauce). And the garlic sauce was really spicy and good. The service tonight was great. Our water glasses were filled several times each, without us having to ask. This is the only restaurant in the area that I know of that includes "sauce on the side" on the menu. We recently went to a Chinese restaurant in Rockville and asked for sauce on the side - they responded that "we don't do that." It was a cold night tonight and the restaurant was really, really cold inside. I'm deducting a point from my otherwise 5-star rating because it was pretty uncomfortable. I'm upping this place from a 3 to a 4 star. Worth a visit, just probably not on a cold night.

It tasted very cheap--definitely not what you'd expect for a $16 dish. On top of that, I noticed the woman preparing sushi was talking on the phone the entire time while making the rolls. That raised serious concerns about hygiene and professionalism. Overall, the food quality and cleanliness standards were far below expectations. I would not recommend this place.

The one restaurant we keep coming back to, time and time again is Kiin Imm Thai. The food is delicious. And the secret is out because the place was packed with people and there were people waiting outside the door. So, you know that the food is good. Tonight, we ordered beef pad see ew. That is my son's favorite and he really enjoyed it. It was really tasty and full of flavor. We also ordered shrimp fried rice and that was delicious. The jumbo shrimp make this dish a real winner. We ordered grilled pork skewers for my grandson and they were tender and full of flavor. I always order my mango sticky rice. I forgot to take a picture. It was a great dessert. It took a little longer to get our meal, but service was excellent. We really liked each of our dishes. In Thai when you want to say thank you, you say Ca Cun! So, ca cun Kiin Imm Thai! Their drunken noodles are also somewhat superior to other drunken noodles. I'm not a big fan of pork belly but my husband is and he likes it. But even his favorite was the Thai boat noodle. Service was also pretty decent. Parking was easy since it's in a plaza there's a lot of parking options (free). But the reason for lower stars is just being way too hot in the restaurant. Not sure if their AC is broken or they can't turn the AC down anymore... or they're replicating the tropical temps of Thailand... it was uncomfortable eating in the heat. They had a fan that they turned toward us but it was still really hot and my husband kept wiping his sweat off his head and I was also sweating. I still like their food, but might think about takeout vs eating in next time.
