A nice small place on the side of the road, nice workers and staff. Food so good it had me contemplating life

I placed a mobile order for drunken noodles with chicken (my go to Thai favorite). My order was ready upon my arrival. I was greeted right away. The restaurant was empty at the time. Getting into this lot is a bit tricky or at least it was for me since I was not familiar with this location. I had only been to the Silver Spring location. There is parking. My food was not spicy as I had requested. There are different levels and since it was my first time, I chose the almost spiciest level. It could have been hotter for me. I ended up having to add my own pepper at home! The flavors were good. the portion size was fair. I won't say it was the best Thai I've had. I would possibly give them another try, but won't go out of my way. read more

Thursday 1/2/2025 I came across this spot on an instagram post that was mentioning the best DMV Thai so I had to see it for myself. I made an online order through their website and got the pad see-ew (beef-mild) $14.95, pad Thai (chicken-mild) $14.95, and the mango red curry (chicken-medium) $15.95. - The pad see-ew was really good and is easily in the top 2 for best pad see-ew I've had. - The pad Thai was a new experience for me as it was my first EVER experience trying it but it was just alright (thought it would've been better). Also the chicken portions were significantly less than I expected. - The mango red curry was a dish I had HIGH expectations for but it fell flat. The "mango curry" taste and flavor were underwhelming even with the addition of the mango peices. Overall, this spot has some pretty decent Thai. The pad see-ew is THE highlight and the other 2 dishes could've been better. If you're in the area searching for Thai then this is a solid spot for your Thai cravings. read more

I loved this restaurant! When we entered, we were greeted by Amina who is very friendly and funny! The restaurant is comfortable and made us feel at home. Very casual. 3 of us shared the drunken noodles and Kaprow which came w a side of rice. We were pleasantly full (we didn't have food babies). The chicken drunken noodles were delicious! I loved the spice and flavor. The beef Kaprow also had a great spice level, flavor and the beef was tender. We took a chicken pad thai to go and that was delicious. The sweetness was just right. I placed an online order for pick-up. The site was very user friendly, I had no issues placing my order. When I arrived at the restaurant, the employees were super kind and greeted me right away. Updating this review and adding a star as they've finally introduced online ordering! This makes a huge difference to us millennials in terms of convenience (and honestly - just seeing it laid out in your cart is a huge plus). Amina Thai's food remains rock solid as it always has been - you can never go wrong with any of their curries (still need to try their pumpkin curry) or noodle dishes. Basic no frills Thai food. I didn't feel like driving to my typical spots. I appreciate that this food is Halal. Ordered Penang tofu and veggies, thia fried rice and crispy basal fish. All was flavorful. Historically they have vented the fried fish so that it does not get soggy. It was not done this time and it was not as crisp as usual. Just came here for lunch with a coworker and the place was completely empty. I think part of it was because we did come a little early (11:40am-ish), but left at 12:30pm and still no other people ate inside. There were people picking up orders or door-dash deliveries, etc. In any case, we sat down and the service was very fast and courteous. I ordered the Pad See Ewe and it arrived promptly (and super hot too!). The portions were decent and our water was filled once. It was super quiet, so not sure how the vibe is on a Friday or Saturday night. When we paid, the waitress (who I think may have been the owner?) arrived with a ipad where we simply tapped our credit cards and put in a tip. NGL, I like to tip in cash, so I preemptively took out my cash to show the waitress I was not going to forget tipping her, all the while I tapped "no tip" - even though I did tip her! Haha. Overall, a great lunch spot and I will definitely come back here. My only thing I would comment is that there are not a lot of parking spots in front of the restaurant. read more

Thank you for being a reliable place for me to get great food for 7 years and counting! Whenever I want some comfort food that's not complete junk food, Amina Thai is a great place to get takeaways from. I know how to cook them at home but sometimes, I just want a break. And Amina Thai is somewhere I don't mind spending extra $$$ for something I know how to fix at home. I especially love their fried rice on days like that because it's well seasoned, and the ingredients always taste fresh. I dislike fried rice elsewhere usually because of the stale tasting rice. I'm a weirdo who likes my fried rice tasting somewhat moist. We made a phone order and the order was ready when we arrived in 15 minutes. I normally dislike anything with coriander in it but if it's used as a garnish by Amina Thai, I know it is going to be great. And with a squeeze of lemon, I was a happy camper again after a long week. Other dishes I love from Amina Thai are their yum woon saen, massaman curry, pad kee mao, lad na, and kaprow fried rice. Really, anything and everything! As a side note, their parking spaces are a bit limited but it's not impossible to find nearby free parking. They also take Amex, which is great. read more

I don't really give a 1-star but this Thai restaurant really disappointed me. I placed a to-go order and when I entered, there was no greeting, no smile, nothing. Plain and simple customer service was the 1/5. Secondly, I only ordered a shrimp drunken noodle and I requested it to be mild spice which was the least spice on the order app. Guess what? It was like a medium spice. Ok that's fine but wow, the amount of oil that was placed in was insanity. One thing I will admit though, I paid $4 extra to get shrimp on my drunken noodle, and it was well worth for that. This is hands down my new favorite Thai restaurant. Everything that I have tried has been absolutely delicious and I am so glad we stumbled upon them by accident last month. I have gone back at least once every week since then Although there aren't many tables inside, the service is extremely quick and everyone who has helped us has been very kind. Please don't judge a book by it's cover as it is not a super fancy spot or have many upgrades, so if that's what you're looking for, then this may not be it. I like Thai food. I don't know why it's taking me so long to stop at Amina Thai. It's close to my office so I stopped there tonight for carry out. I ordered pad see ew. I'm happy I did. The lady who greeted me it was very nice and she offered me a menu. I chose one of my Thai favorites. Once I opened it and tasted it I was delighted at the quality and portion size and overall value. The chicken was prepared perfectly, and was complimented by the wide noodles and vegetables. Nicely done. I will definitely be back and I will tell all of my neighbors. read more

All I have to say is halal Thai. This is a little place but the flavor and the options are wonderful. We got the spring rolls for appetizer, Drunken noodles, pad Thai and Thai basil meal. The spring rolls came crispy and hot with the sweet duck sauce. All the meals were delicious and had excellent flavor. The Thai basil was a little spicy but delicious. My favorite was pad Thai with chicken with lots of peanuts and good amazing by of sauce. Love the food here and the fact that they are halal is a plus. read more

I ordered Pad See Ew with beef and Thai Iced Tea for carry out and really enjoyed my meal. The food was ready quickly after ordering, easy to park in the lot and walk up to the restaurant to pick up my order. My food was hot and tasted great. My only complaint is there were only 2 pieces of broccoli in the whole dish. I wish there would've been more. But taste and quality were still great. read more

I really enjoyed this place and decided to come back a 2nd time before giving a review. It's a small establishment that gives a homey vibe when you come in. I have enjoyed their pad Thai, Drunken noodles and Thai fried rice. Although they are all tasty, their fried rice and drunken noodles are what I would consider reordering (just based on preference). Don't forget to wash it all down with a glass of Thai tea! It's only $3 and I like that I can taste more of a tea flavor than other places I've been to. With all of the Thai restaurant developments in 2019 and into 2020, it was time for another visit to Rockville veteran Amina Thai. Here since the late 1990s, this one room place on Nicholson Lane has been one of my favorites. But competition is now fierce with no fewer than 10 Thai restaurants between Gaithersburg and the Amina location. Amina remains the only Halal Thai place. The usual standards, including Pad Thai, Panang Curry, Red Curry, have usually been excellent. That was true when I visited recently. Red Curry had an excellent basil flavor with coconut taste, and eggplant included, which is not always the case at other restaurants. I did notice that though it's a 2 chili rated dish on the menu, the heat didn't quite match that. AT will always have a loyal following, customers who have come here since the restaurant opened -- and the style of cooking is likely not to change since this is and has always been a family business with certain ways of doing things. But as I said, there is some tough competition within a few miles with the explosion of Thai restaurants, including the so far excellent Bangkok Garden in Wintergreen Plaza up Rockville Pike, the usually superb Thai Cusine a bit farther away, and Sister's Thai at Cabin John. So my advice to Amina Thai would be -- keep doing what you're doing, but don't be complacent! read more

I decided to try this local Thai restaurant for lunch when I was in the area. It's in a small strip center by Nebel St. The inside is cozy, clean and the staff very friendly. I noticed it's also Halal. I love Thai food and wanted to try this one. They have a lunch special for an entree and a soda. I was a little disappointed that they don't offer a spring roll with their special. I ordered some with my lunch and glad I did! They were crisp, fresh, and hot served with traditional sweet sauce. 4 comes with an order. They were very good. My entree was Drunken noodle with beef. I loved the cherry tomatoes and red peppers in this dish. I think the sauce for the noodles was missing more flavor-perfect on the heat level just not the normal flavor I am used to. It was in a pale sauce and the wide noodles seemed a little over cooked. It wasn't bad, just wasn't great. I maybe need to try a different dish next time or maybe an off day. The best Thai food in Rockville (at least much better than Sisters). They are pricy, but you get a TON of food. Our favorites are the chicken Ka prow, ka prow fried rice w chicken, and the drunken noodles. Spring rolls sometimes too- which are crispy and yum. We have been going here for at least 3 years now, Amina NEVER disappoints. You get at least 2-4 meals out of an order! The drunken noodles and fried rice have the best umami savory flavor. The noodles are so chewy in the best way, the chickens always cooked to perfection. You can customize spice to your preference on all of their meals. Park in the back on the lower parking lot by the dry cleaners and walk up- it's much easier! read more

Two words: inedible & rude This was my first visit and will be my last. Placed my order for pickup at 8:35. As I pulled into the parking lot at 8:45 exactly (they told me 15 minutes) they called me and told me to get there and pick it up now. When I walked in the door I asked if they were open til nine. They answered yes and said that they had to get to the cleaning. Then one woman looked at me and as she turned away said something in a language I don't understand. The other woman behind the counter clearly thought it was funny so I can only imagine what she said/called me. The Pad broccoli with chicken was inedible. I don't know what they used when they made it but it tasted like chemicals. There are plenty of other Thai restaurants nearby. Give your business to one with good food and and nice people. read more

Fast service too! The Roti with Chicken is crispy and delicious, Thai fried rice has the best flavor. Pad Thai and Drunken noodles are yummy! The Mango chicken was sweet and spicy. Yum! This is such a cute mom and pop place that serves halal Thai food. Service is friendly and food is prepared hot and fresh to order. We got spicy kaprow, pad Thai, and drunken noodles which were all delicious. They offer several entree options with tofu and mixed vegetables which I appreciate. WOW... Just wow I got yelled at ... Let's start from the beginning, I am Muslim so I would like to support my Muslim brothers and sisters. I always am super polite those who serve me food obviously hold all the cards So I decided to place an order on Uber eats. I informed on Uber eats my wife has an allergy to cashew, pine nuts and walnuts I decided that since those nuts are common might as well call them ....big mistake... Here is what she said.
